If I remember from what people said about the Cell Phone port with 1-5, you just hit the equivalent of 'A' to advance through the parts with the finger print system, as though it was just plain dialog. If I remember, the evidence also wasn't in 3D.

On the other hand, a DS -> Wii port might not be as bad as we're all thinking. I seem to recall the Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles for the DS and Wiiware both used the same source code, but different graphics and textures. The Dev team seemed interested in selling their techniques to other developers.

I never got why whenever something new* is announced, everyone's reaction tends to be "oh man, this is gonna suck."

*the exception, of course, is when new games are announced.

Because (according to my experiences) when people announce new thing they generally do suck, but I get your drift, WE NEED TO BE MORE OPTIMISTIC! :will:

I'd be interested to see if they have things like voice acting, orchestral score - maybe even new bonus cases?
What about redone graphics? DS graphics on a TV screen would look awful.

I think they have to give people something extra over the GBA or even DS version. I would say most people have a DS and the game so something extra (new cases? orchestral BGM) would be nice.

This.

And the PW Era sprites aren't even DS sprites to begin with. They're GBA sprites. That was the first thing that came to mind when I saw this topic (except for the objection pointing thing blah blah blah) and immediately thought "Wii port is going to suck". Because unless they really do announce anything new, a port's still a port, albeit with minor adjustments or whatnot.

But if it's PW:AA with new graphics, new music, then fine. But it doesn't change the fact that it's still the same storyline with the same characters and same gameplay.
Please visit my DA Page if you have the time. Thanks!

They already have HD graphics, they base the sprites off HD versions. It'll probably use them.

I'd like to share your enthusiasm here, but I'll doubt we'll get any of these things.
Besides, orchestra score would sound very weird ingame (even though they're perfectly fine songs by themselves), I can't imagine them doing it. However, we might have some new music.
Voice acting is possible, but I really doubt they'll have it either (even though that could be really nice, if the actors are good).

Well, even though I think it will be the kind of lazy port Capcom love to do, I do hope it won't be the case... and we'll get some nice bonus stuff :eh?:

Maybe they could offer the orchestra score as bonus content or something.
Hopefully some extra tweaks/features will be there.

Don't forget it's WiiWare... not a retail version of GS1 for the Wii. So how would they be able to offer the orchestra score as bonus? (Especially since WiiWare is very limited, as regards the size of the content available What's more, how would you listen to the songs?... Maybe thanks to a HDish Jukebox or something, but I really doubt that)

Well, I also hope there'll be some extras. And then we'll see whether it's worth buying the game once more. ^^

My guess is the B button would be used as a replacement for blowing into the mic.

I do have faith this will be a good port. Capcom did a good job on Mega Man 9 so I'm sure they'll make PW:AA awesome as well.

That could be spoken as "Don't 'Huh?' me!" or something like that.

And it'd be lulzy to hear Sal say "frowny face" out loud. And "ROFS".

Or waggle the Wiimote. Because there has to be some waggle.

Following Tales of Monkey Island's example, my guess is episodic releases, 1000 Wii Points each. Since 1-1 is short, maybe a Cases 1 & 2 pack, then cases 3, 4 and 5 individually.

Voice acting? Oh God, PLEASE. But I don't think it'll happen. It sounds like too much effort for an Ace Attorney game. Too many characters, I guess.

Episodic content - 1000 Wii points is bloody expensive for that - thats 5 x £7 (possibly) for a game most already have!

I don't know what "Prufdatum" means - it doesnt come up with anything in BabelFish.

According to this the developers say PW won't be on consoles. Now I'm confused.

I sorta wish deep down that they would be 3d, I'm not sure weather that's even possible but, that would be the awsomest thing I've experianced in years! And If they had small bonus cases, that would only last about five mins. You could perhaps have ten or so of then? And then there's the fantasy that you could verse friends...

Well, what I just said - It's "Prüfdatum" (the ü is essential) and it means the date the game has been rated in Germany. Since it has already been rated, it's existence is pretty much fact.

Thanks for the answer. Yeah, looks like the 'ü' was really crucial (that's why me and grim_tales didn't find it at first).

As regards eventual episodic content, I do hope it will be more like 500 points per case (or 750 maximum), because 1000 points = 10€, which would mean 40€ for a complete game from 2001/2005... now, that's expensive. And I'm not sure the eventual bonus content they might add could be considered a good justification for such a price (especially for a mere port). Even Resident Evil remakes on Wii were cheaper than regular Wii Games (even though there wasn't any bonus included at all)...

I think they're hoping the fans can't do basic math.

In any case, I hope it isn't episodic content. Beyond paying more then you originally aught to, the episodic content on the cell phone platform was insane. I don't want to have to pay each time there's a transition between court and investigation.

Well, I'm curious about a few things with this semi-announcement.

Number 1, Is it episodic content or not? I wasn't too thrilled about being nickeled and dimmed when the title was ported to the Cell Phone. Paying for each investigation and court phase was just stupid. I'd personally rather have the whole game or not at all.

Number 2, is it a direct port or are we going to get the graphics and style seen in the TGS trailers?

Number 3, If it's a sprite port, is this a port of the DS version, or the GBA one?

Still, it's interesting news none the less. Thanks for the heads up JapaneseGirl!

Actually, Final Fantasy IV: The after did that when it was on the phone (and ported to the wii shortly after).
I'm not sure if you paid for each release after, but.. either way, I'm kind of skeptical about the whole thing, I mean, they'd need to do a ton of graphical improvements, and it would be kind of weird seing the 2D Sprites on a gianormous screen :edgy:
Maybe they could actually voice over the guitar's serenade :D

I hope Shuu Takumi will belie/deny this news :payne: (I mean that I hope the creator of the Ace Attorney series is going to say that it isn't true) !
But, Phoenix Wright series was released for PC last year...but, ONLY the Phoenix Wright trilogy!
