More Details about Hotel Dusk's Sequel

- Similar visual/audio style to the first game
- Takes place a year after the first title, in 1980 Los Angeles

But instead of a land of prison inquiries and gang busts it turns out to be set in an apartment block. haah
Not complaining one bit though. The tranquility of the setting is what made Hotel Dusk so special.

the game takes place roughly a year after Dusk. And I mean roughly in the most extreem of sense. Dusk took place on the last Friday of 1979, Dusk 2 takes place in 1980. It could just as easily be one 'year' later as it could be one week later.

I have to say, the Ignore function finally makes sense. It's another excuse for Dunning to Kick you out. Now, if they added that to the AA series when the main character badgers the witness...

Absolutely agree.
Now that I can actually post, I have to say, the Ignore function makes everything more realistic, and inmerses you more into Kyle's role. What I mean is you control Kyle even more than in Hotel Dusk.
Now I'm wondering about an EN title, since I believe there's no doubt it'll be localized. "The Last Window" alone sounds cool.

I thought about it too, but Room 215 in Hotel Dusk was quite important. That, and the game released in Japan as "Wish Room".

I had the exact same problem. I started Dusk in 2007, and don't know why left it mid-game. Just by the beginning of this year I remembered it, and restarted it. I beat it, and I enjoyed it as much as I did the first time.
So, I highly reccomend restarting it.

...But, let's consider that HD was announced first in Japan, as "Wish Room", in October of 2005, and released a year and 3 months later. It was properly announced in English as Hotel Dusk: Room 215 in E3 2006, and released 8 months later.
Now, considering the gap between the Japanese announcement and release of "Wish Room", "Last Window" should be announced for an English release in E3 2010, and release in January, yes, but of 2011... Are we all sure there haven't been any translation misunderstandings?

I believe the game will be taken more seriously than Layton 2 has been, since Hotel Dusk is considered as a DS cult title, even above Professor Layton. As I said some posts ago, or in the first HD2 thread (don't remember), Hotel Dusk is part of the Touch! Generations. So, Nintendo'll give it much more importance than it gives to a regular title.
Come to think of it, now that Diabolical Box sold over 1M, the Layton series should be part of the Touch! Generations, too.

On the other hand, the fact that they revived Hotel Dusk on the Market shelf under the TG label meant they felt it was worth milking some more. That I think is one of the better hints that they're interested in localizing the new title.

Well, Nintendo are very likely to be behind the localization since they're the one publishing the game... which means we should get it pretty quickly. I'd expect something similar to what happened to Another Code: R (minus the non-release in the US): released in Japan in January, then 4 months later, the game arrives in the US/Europe, that is somewhere in May or something.
