New GK News!

Thanks to JapaneseGIRL and two new scans from Famitsu, we now have some more information on Gyakuten Kenji. The mysterious Keygirl has been identified as Mikumo Ichijou, a self-proclaimed thief, and joining her is prosecutor Makoto Yuuki, a sports buff.

Gameplay is being split up into 3 "phases": Invesigation, Logic, and Confrontation. If you're one of the fans worried about the spinoff leaning too far away from Ace Attorney's court-based gameplay, fear not! From the looks of it you're still going to be able to press, present, and interrogate people related to the case in very much the same was as old school cross examinations. A playable demo of Gyakuten Kenji will be at the Tokyo Game Show this year, but don't expect to see the real thing until spring '09.

FINALLY! I hoped for a release date, but this is awesome! So, keygirl's a robber, huh? Does anyone recommend a way of learning Japanese in half a year? Here in Argentina Japanese lessons are AWFULLY expensive, so if there's a way of learning here on the Interwebs could you tell me by PM? Thank you (Sorry for going off-topic there.)

Anyway, Tokyo Game Show will be awesome. I hope they announce a release date between those days (or BEFORE!). And I hope the oficial GK website uploads the demo too. GAWD I CAN'T WAIT.

Someone pointed out how the ~~fruity~~ prosecutor rival looks like a tennis player; I mean the seiyuus of the characters mostly came from Prince of Tennis so who knows </3

Those scans are pretty cool. I see Gumshoe has some sideway-ish sprites, and I fully expect someone will shop them into a courtroom background as soon as possible. :redd:

Learning Japanese just to play videogames is a rather bad idea. Besides, you'd need more than just half a year (especially without actual lessons with someone who speaks the language) to be anywhere near fluent enough to play most games, let alone a text-heavy one like this, and actually understand it.

There is no wrong reason to learn a foreign language. Even if you learn Japanese to play video games or watch anime, it can still serve you well in other aspects of your life. :lana:

Can anyone recommend which sites would most likely be putting the game up for pre-order? I've been using HMV and CDJapan (and occasionally AmazonJP and YesAsia when I had no other choice T_T) for all my online shopping, but someone told me a while back that neither of them have games for pre-order. I'd like to get this game in its original Japanese format, since Spring '09 is more than enough time to polish up my Japanese a little more to be ready for the game's release. (Oh, Formal Japanese Lessons, why must you be so expensive TT______________TT Just once I want to know what it feels like to study and practice Japanese face-to-face with a teacher. Self-teaching can only do so much.)

I'm very excited about this game now. Spring '09 can't come soon enough in my opinion. Poor Edgeworth though. He can't seem to catch a break in these games. His car was an accesory to murder and now his office is the scene of the crime? Well, at least the Prosecutor's Office gave him his old office back after being away for so long.

I usually go with Play-Asia because I sometimes have a coupon :D. They usually have games up for pre-order not long after the release date is announced.

As nothing seems to have been moved since we saw this office in 1-5, I'm guessing that Edgeworth himself owns the office, and merely uses it for prosecuting. It's not like he couldn't afford it, if his car is anything to go by. Actually, it's possible that all prosecutors have their own offices, and are all just grouped under the chief prosecutor.

On a side note, I hope we get to see Payne's office. It's probably just a small cubicle in a corner or something, but still. :redd:

Still, I'm honestly not too thrilled over the game. Maybe my opinion will change by the time it's released, but I doubt it. :|

Back on topic, I hope the powers that be are not stingy with GK news. I'm new to the fandom, so I'm not sure how forth coming they were with the other games, especially AJ because it was new for everyone. I'm guessing they'll talk about it at TGS? Can't wait!

I think all the GS games have had demos pop up on their site, so there's a good chance the Kenji one will show up eventually as well.

I'm excited to see if they do another animated promotional movie :D
