December 12
10:00 AM
District Court No. 3
Judge : *Bangs gavel* Court is now in session for the trial of Mrs. Alice K. Cab.
Alex : The defense is ready Your Honor.
??? : The prosecution is ready as well, Your Honor.
Alex : (The prosecutioner...he looks familiar...)
Judge : Mr. Ravier, your opening statement please.
Ravier : Yes, of course, Your Honor.
Alex : (Ravier...ASTER RAVIER! I remember him...from my first trial a couple years ago. I haven't seen him since...)
Ravier : To sum up what happened, Mrs. Cab was walking home from her job at the cafeteria downtown. She serves food to customers. As she passed a red light where her husband, the defendant's Taxi stood. Then, a gunshot was fired, and Mrs. Cab was dead.
Judge : Very well...the prosecution may call it's first witness.
Ravier : Very well. The prosecution calls Mr. Edward to the stand.
Edward : *Walks to the stand*
Ravier : Witness, please state your name and occupation.
Edward : Fredrick Edward, I'm a maitinence person for telephone poles and traffic lights.
Ravier : Mr. Edward, please testify to the court about what you saw.
Judge : Yes, and Mr. Force, please cross-examine the witness as well.
WITNESS TESTIMONY
Edward : It was around 8:45 PM and I was walking to do some maintenence on a telephone pole
Alex : HOLD IT! What was wrong with the telephone pole?
Ravier : OBJECTION! *Slams hands on desk* Your Honor, this line of questioning is irrelevant!
Alex : OBJECTION! Not quite, Ravier! We need to make sure this telephone pole actualy needed maitenence.
Edward : Of course, I understand. It turns out, there was a city wide telephone outage that day *grabs elbow*, not a single phone would work.
Alex : OBJECTION! Mr. Edward...you are telling us a lie...
Edward : WHAT?!
*Courtroom fills with sudden chatter from the crowd*
Judge : *Bangs gavel* Mr. Force, explain yourself!
Alex : According to this phone record, a call was made at 8:41 that day! Ergo...There could NOT have been a phone blackout at that time!!
Edward : ACK!
*Courtroom yet again fills with sudden chatter from the crowd*
Judge : *Bangs gavek three times* Mr. Edward! Purjury is a serious offense! Explain yourself at once!!
Edward : Um...I...er...Oh! I remember now! I was fixing a traffic light!
Alex : OBJECTION! There was a red light there, and the lights changed after the murder took place! If you were "going" to fix the traffic light, it COULDN'T have gotten fixed before the murder took place, the lights changed immediately after the murder!
Edward : AAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!!!!!! *Slams head on the witness stand*
Alex : So, Mr. Edward...what were you REALLY doing?
Edward : *Rubs head* Um...I...er...I was...okay fine...I was fired that day, from my job I mean...but I didn't have nothin' to do with the murder!! *grabs elbow*
Apollo : Alex, he's lying.
Alex : Huh? How can you tell?
Apollo : When he said the word "murder", he grabed his elbow. He also did it when he said there was a phone blackout, and there was a contradiction.
Alex : Oh...I see! I saw! I understand! Time to show just who this guy REALLY is! *slams hand on desk* Mr. Edward! Just now, when you said "murder"...YOU GRABBED YOUR ELBOW!!
Edward : Eh...?
Alex : You did that when you lied about the phone blackout, too...which means...YOU'RE LYING!!
Edward : AAAAAAAAAAACK!!!
Alex : Actions speak louder than words, my friend...one of my philosophies! Learn it, LIVE IT! You may have told a lie, but...
Apollo : ...You can't hide your actions.
Judge : Mr. Force! What are you insinuating?!
Alex : Isn't it obvious, Your Honor? I'm proving his connection to the crime!
Ravier : OBJECTION! Yet, Mr. Edward lacks a motive...
Judge : *Bangs gavel three times* I believe this is enough for now...I am calling a thirty minute recess. When we return, we will hear from the defendant, Mr. Cab.
