I read different stuff at different times, so I have a build up of books XD

The count of monte cristo (amazing, but a bit difficult to focus on for too long)
The Vampire Lestat (depressing!)
The High Rhulain (Redwall, yes it IS too young for me, but it rocks XD)
American Psycho (Really funny, but I needed to finish the redwall book for my sis to read)

I liked La fin des temps a lot (English title: Hard-boiled Wonderland and the End of the World). I had to study this book in college.

Right now I should finish Duma Key by Stephen King, but it seems I can't. Even though I like it a lot...

I just read Holes by Louis Sachar (Spellblotch WOO) and it's actually really close to the movie, they didn't leave anything out in that!
Made reading it sort of lame, but meh. Very good.
Now I'm reading Guitar Girl by Sarra Manning cos a friend told me to and The Giver by Lois Lowry for school.

This is a ridiculously good book. I seriously couldn't stand anything else by Ishiguro, but NLMG (moar acronyms :D) was incredible. IMO. :phoenix:

I just finished reading A Civil Action by Jonathan Harr. If you're interested in law, it's really worth a read. It was recommended reading for new law students at my school, and I'm really glad I picked it up. (the other readings were like "a philosophy of criminal law throughout history and its repercussions on the fabric of society" = boring fail)

Dune: House Harkonnen

I haven't read Frank Herbert's classics yet, but I plan to eventually. My goal is to tackle the entire series in the order of the timeline.

Note of Madness - Tabitha Suzumiya (A bit too depressing...)
Memnoch the Devil - Anne Rice (Too much Memnoch!!)
Jingo - Terry Pratchett (I just misplaced it.)

I want the next Haruki Murakami book to come out!!

That one is really good as well. I haven't actually read a bad Murakami book, though.

This is a terrible idea and you should read the original series first.

Ah, I want to read Twilight too. I tried looking for it but it was sold out, surprisingly. I'm really selfish about my books though. I can't stand it when people read books simply because a movie or a TV series based on it comes out. I don't know why but I'm really like that. It can get a bit annoying > <;

What's annoying about it? If it gets people to read the books, then that's great. The only annoying part I can see is when people think the actors in costume are always the way the characters are supposed to look, so they have this idea that Snape and Malfoy are supposed to be sexy, but those are the same people who write fanfiction about them having sex with each other, so they're not important. :P

:larry: I have that somewhere in the house and I have no idea where and I was still reading it when I lost it, so now I have to spend an even longer time hiding from spoilers!

Nn, what I meant to be annoying was my attitude towards it. I'm getting irritated for no good reason and I don''t even know why it bugs me so much in the first place. I think it's because I have this biased thought that places people who buy the books when a movie or show comes out as those who want to fit in. It's like they just want to be able to say something about that movie when their friends discuss it or something. Haha, I sound really cynical xD;

You have to read Twilight if you're interested enough to not want to be spoiled, because in my experience, the fans who have read the series love to talk about it all the time!

And high disdain from sense of injured merit,

I love that quote.

And, so ya'll don't think I'm totally crazy...

"The Grand Inquisitor" --Fyodor Dostoevsky's novel, The Brothers Karamazov

Dostoevky wrote:
"Whatsoever Thou revealest anew will encroach on men's freedom of faith; for it will be manifest as a miracle, and the freedom of their faith was dearer to Thee than anything in those days fifteen hundred years ago. Didst Thou not often say then, "I will make you free"? But now Thou hast seen these "free" men,' the old man adds suddenly, with a pensive smile. 'Yes, we've paid dearly for it,' he goes on, looking sternly at Him, 'but at last we have completed that work in Thy name. For fifteen centuries we have been wrestling with Thy freedom, but now it is ended and over for good. Dost Thou not believe that it's over for good? Thou lookest meekly at me and deignest not even to be wroth with me. But let me tell Thee that now, to-day, people are more persuaded than ever that they have perfect freedom, yet they have brought their freedom to us and laid it humbly at our feet. But that has been our doing. Was this what Thou didst? Was this Thy freedom?'""

DP for awesomeness

One of my dad's Closing Arguments from his rookie ADA days.

In 1975, rookie ADA John Lee said.....
Quote:
Gentlemen I ask of you, no, I beg of you to look deep inside yourselves and find the courage to do what you know is right. Years from now when people look at the neat little file tucked away in some dusty old library the brief will say simply “guilty”. But to those who were here and to those who experienced its energy firsthand, they will forever know it as the day that twelve good and decent people stood up and did the right thing. You, Gentlemen, you will remember it as the day that I did what was right! I did what was just!

Gentlemen of the jury, I want you to think about something. I want you to think about the tremendous power you have in your hearts and minds. You have the power to show the nation what the State of Texas thinks of people like the defendant. You can show the world how far we have come. You can cast away years of injustice with but a guilty verdict. You can tell people like the defendant that they are not welcome in this state! You can set precedent. You can be remembered as twelve ordinary men who said, “Enough is enough”. On this day you are more than the law, you are the voice of Justice on Earth.

And that's why he used to be called "The Archangel".
