So it seems that Nintendo has finally unveiled it's replacement for Club Nintendo in the form of My Nintendo...I think.
Consequently this has been released alongside the first(?) of those Nintendo Apps that would be available outside a Nintendo platform, that of Miitomo.
Having dabbled a bit myself, it looks like a miniaturised version of Tomodachi Life...you create (or import a Mii), give it a voice and a personality and have it answer random questions to be "more like you" as people "might think I'm (its) an imposter."
It's a little goofy in it's humour much like Tomodachi and then after that you get to dress up your Mii using items you can buy from a shop...I imagine this is where the in-world purchases come from. Fortunately the game gave me enough starting currency to buy an outfit that...roughly resembles my day-to-day fashion choices.
Here's the kicker though:
The new My Nintendo system does offer some neat things: Downloadable Games, discounts on games and some things that I don't consider valuable: "game tickets" and "outfits" for Miitomo...though I'm not even sure what the former do. The way you buy these? By completing missions in Miitomo to gain points....
In any case, my arm is twisted as I liked Club Nintendo and so want to stick around for whatever replacement they have. However much like Tomodachi Life, the Miitomo system revolves around friends. If anyone else is jumping on this system I'd be happy to go with them.
That said the whole thing feels kinda dirty to me but I've always been averse to social networking systems so maybe that was inevitable.
