Of course, no talking about really or mildly popular manga, FMA, Berserk, Hellsing, Loveless, ect.

Let's talk about some lesser known stuff, if you don't know any then here's what you do:

1.Go to One Manga
2.Select "Can't decide? Then click here for a random manga!"
3. At least try what's selected for you, you don't have to read off of onemanga.
4.Post opinion about it here. Who knows, you might get something so unbearable you'd rather read Naruto or you'll get something really awesome.
5.If you already read the manga they select for you, then try it again.

This is an effort to get people talking about more than "the usual".

One of my favorite "niche" titles is "Strawberry Shake Sweet". A comedy about an Idol who realizes she likes her junior, and does practically everything in her power to get her. Her manager thwarts her efforts constantly, along with the visual kei superstar parody "Zlay" and various other characters it gets funnier as time goes on. Unfortunately it's only 17 chapters.

Another one I really like is "Kamen Teacher" about a masked teacher who kicks a lot of ass.

My absolute favorite series is one I describe as the best series you've probably never read: Shin Angyo Onshi.

Basically, it's a manga heavily focused on Korean myths and stuff. The main character is a guy named Munsu (who *gasp* is not some young pretty boy but an older guy whose been through a lot) who was once the general of the fallen country Jushin as an Angyo Onshi. Angyo Onshi were the king of Jushin's sort of special enforcers, they'd travel around and right corruption and help when necessary. Munsu is looking for the man who caused the fall of Jushim, a man named Aji Tae, but when you first see Aji Tae he totally does not look like an evil SOB but a meek bookworm. This covers what I consider one of the greatest manga villains ever.

The art for the first chapter or two is kind of weird but if you can bear with it it becomes absolutely stunning. The characters are all pretty likeable and what's cool is that the female characters aren't just cheerleaders for the main characters. Hell, Sando (Munsu's bodyguard), Aji Tae's Sando, and the female Angyo Onshi are among the most powerful characters in the manga and they actually do something.

The series is about 18 volumes long and all have been scanlated.

I was going to read that but then I get distracted by whatever and I forget about it, that and Franken Fran, a manga that's about a monster surgeon who makes monsters out of people. I saw some pages and heard it can get pretty disgusting.

I like:
Bakuman(Probably known since it made by the same dood who did Death Note)
090 - Eko to Issho, Kind of like Chobit but with cellphones
1/2 Prince -kind of reminds me of .hack except The World isn't out for you nor the stupid mods
Doujin Work - like Bakuman it another manga artist thing except it for Doujin like Comic Party.
Franken Fran is alright but I don't like to be save by her, I would rather die.
History's Strongest Disciple Kenichi -A martial art type manga
History's Strongest Disciple -The Original version of the above
Crow-School gang,take over thing
Worst -Sequel to Crow or Crow is the Prequel(I don't know which came out first)
Dear School Gang leader -Kind of similar to the above two but tone down a lot
Magic Ban Removal!! Hyde and Closer -Some magic thing
Law of Ueki Plus-Sequel to Law of Ueki. I never read the original though.

I read some, and 2 manga really stood out in my list:
Addicted To Curry is very humorous and nicely drawn.
The Drifting Classroom is an old manga from the 70s, so the drawing style may be a bit different, but it's a addicting and original story.
Definitely worth reading! :redd:

Akumetsu... I stink at describing so go read it and have your mind blown...up. By a bomb. Implanted in your head.

Sexy commando.... Isn't the title enough to make you read this hillarous manga?

Mr fullswing, it's baseball manga... But with so many gags and jokes I nearly died.

I didn't find it on OneManga (though you'll probably find it there), but I haven't found a single other person who has heard of (There) Beyond the Beyond. The art is beautiful and the characters are really cute. It's about a boy named Futaba who is taken to a fantasy world by a girl called the Amaranthine, who mistakes him for her master. They have to journey to find her real master so Futaba can go home, and on the way they pair up with the great magician Belbel and the homicidal 'Mad Prince' Virid. It's fun but it's got some nice depth to it.

Le Gasp!!! Somone else read that series?!!? I loved it...the library only had the first volume though... I got to buy it so I can rember more of it...

I pride myself on reading a lot of manga...

DAMIT!!! I forgot an older series I loved.... Maybe a description can help...

The world is a desert and the story focus and a young boy with a rare hawk. While wandering through this desert world he stumbles upon a carvan stuck in sand whirlpool. He saves them but finds out they are actually slave traders and they try to catch him. His hawk makes the slave drivers back off and the boy rescuses a young girl.

The girl follows the boy rather quitely until the two reach a small town. When the two try and get water they find out the well there is dry(or the water was undrinkable... I forgot this part) when the boy complains about the water the girl suddenly is drenched by water that came up from the sand! The is from a insanely rare group of people coveted for their power to get water from the ground or air easily. The whole town sees this and trys to catch her so they can have an infinite water source. The boy manages to save her again and flee the village. Far from the village the boy... And that's where my memory stops. That's a big portion of the 1st chapter... I think.

I remember only reading it's first volume... Kazan?..I think it started with a k... And no site so far has scanlated it... Please help...

Black Jack.

Made by Tezuka, the man who made Astro Boy and Kimba. A sinister-looking surgical genius, Black Jack travels the world performing seemingly impossible feats of surgery for large sums of money. Among Black Jack's many medical accomplishments are operating at lightning speed, operating blind, operating on dogs, cats, deer, whales, and computers, and removing a parasitic worm from his own intestines while under assault by a pack of wild dingos.

This summary barely scratches the surface of this manga/anime. Go check it out.

That wasn't a challenge at all.

Does Witchcraft count? Wait, no it's an H-manga....

Anybody ever heard of a little slice of life called SlamDunk? Great story and great cast. It's not exactly know, its been around since the 2000's and had it's own Anime, but it didn't really live on, maybe because the ending was so great, or maybe Basketball in Japan wasn't so big back then.

Looks like it has it's popularity after all

But besides selling 100 million copies in Japan alone. Not too many people care about it now.

Nevermind, a good manga knows its limits. Ends at its right times.

Yakitate!!! Japan!

It's a bread making manga that is hilarious with cameos and jokes everywhere! Reactions that are so bizzare that you may just say WTF! Like bread that sends you to heaven! Or a time travelling doughnut!

So.... I don't know if it's popular or not... Can someone tell me if it is or not?

I hate the way it turns out with the reactions becoming to real. It be nice if it was a phase and not some permanent thing

So there, first thing to actually be obscure and unknown to a western audience posted in this thread.

I'm a fan of a somewhat obscure OEL manga, Return to Labyrinth. The manga itself is a sequel to the 80's movie Labyrinth, and has a lot of references for Jim Henson fans to catch- lots of small nods and even a Fraggle cameo.
