I barely remember watching Ren and Stimpy, but I think it was fun. Of course, now that I'm older and know what I'm watching, I notice how scary and creepy some of the imagery was. Or even how weird the entire show was. There was a discussion about Ren and Stimpy being gay?

Hey Arnold was also one I liked watching. It was pretty fun at times, although I lost interest.

Doug was funny at times, other times it was just a slice of life shoved together with random fantasies.

Rocko's Modern Life was hilarious. My mother watched it with me at times and it was pretty funny.

I'm Australian so I had limited access to the entertainment you had but I have incredibly fond memories of Rugrats. I know, a show about babies should not interest anyone but it's just...so cleverly written and the animated cinematography was so creative. It was just such a clever show, at least in the early days. I remember watching CatDog whenever it was on but Rugrats was my top program of my childhood, watching the Hannukah and Passover episodes on tape again and again (I'm Jewish).

I never experienced Ren and Stimpy...Is it any good? Maybe once I finish school, I'll give that a watch too...in addition to everything else people have been bitching at me to watch (Dexter, Breaking Bad, Firefly).

Plenty of that, yes. Ren & Stimpy was blatantly homoerotic, and John Kricfalusi (the show's creator) was constantly trying to push boundaries with violence, crudeness, and things that were just plain bizarre. Which is probably why he was let go after a year or so with the show.

And thanks to John K, there's an adult version of the show that's even crazier, to put it mildly. Probably still fairly tame compared to shows like South Park (funny I should mention that, considering the SP creators have no love for R&S), but I've only seen one of the episode's clips, and I am sure it could be considered a form of softcore porn.

But as a kid, I have fond memories of LOG LOG LOG, Powdered Toast Man, and the musical stylings of Stinky Whizzleteats.

I remember watching R&S, Doug, Rugrats (original), Rocko's Modern Life (another boundary-pushing show, but too wacky to be threatening, I suppose), Aaahh!!! Real Monsters, Hey Arnold! (an amazing show that got somewhat screwed by Nick), and Angry Beavers. After that, I lost interest.

As Told by Ginger is possibly the only slice of life cartoon...And possibly the more realistic about life than most children sitcoms these days.

Really? I thought the creator's original comment was, "That's really none of my business" and left it at that. Kinda like Bert and Ernie, although they have been revealed to be gay? I never watched Sesame...

Oh Rugrats was cute at times, too.
It was strange at times, but also fun to watch.

i remember that catchy log song every time it came up lol and i remembered the adult version they had it on spike tv for a while. rocko's modern life the way they hid there jokes was clever and mostly since we were kids we didnt get most of the crude that went on such like the refernce with the rose bud with the vacuum cleaner or like

Definitely was a huge fan of Hey Arnold!, Doug, and Rocko's Modern Life growing up. I occasionally enjoyed As Told By Ginger and Rugrats. Wasn't really a fan of anything else. The early seasons of Spongebob and Fairly Oddparents weren't that bad either, but after that Nick has seriously gone downhill fast.

The first couple of seasons of Spongebob were fantastic in my opinion. It contained a lot of the edgey, adult humor that was found in Ren & Stimpy and Rocko's Modern Life (albeit more subtle). However, after the original crew left, it became very dumbed down and more kid-friendly. Same with Fairly Oddparents.

Oh, and I'm just going to say it. I never liked Invader Zim. *waits for the guillotine*

The episode i liked the most in spongebob was when squidward finally tried a Krabby patty and went crazy :hotti: and i hate when good shows get pushed down to kid friendly which then ruins a series for the rest of us *cough* 4 kids *cough*
Just sleep with one eye open or the scene kids will get you :keiko:
