I really could not figure out a good title name. This series is so much more than another law and crime comedy drama. I can only say that I wish I had enjoyed it much sooner.

You can get a feeling of Ace Attorney from it, but only in theme. The main character, however, is everything Phoenix would fight against... and will definitely lose to. Komikado Kensuke NEVER loses a case (not officially, anyway). He fights to win, as the winner gets to decide what "justice" is.

For more info, check out the Drama Wiki page. For the actual episodes, search it yourselves. There are two seasons out so far. We have no news of a 3rd one yet, but I'm hopeful.

Also, he points his finger a lot. I mean the Phoenix/Layton kind of "a lot". Even though he's the one who says pointing at people is rude.

And if I somehow haven't hooked you yet, check out these kickass themes: Legal High and Show Time!!!

Now get to watching and dance a happy dance, people.

Finally got a chance to see the 2nd Special, and wow, I was blown away... even though I only found a video subtitled in Chinese and I suck at reading Simplified 'cause Taiwan uses traditional and it was how I was ta~ught, so I only got about half of it.

Not that it matters! I got the gist of the story, and that last trial hit so many notes. The feels, man, the feels. Welp, it's a malpractice case, and you never know when an accident's just an accident or not.

Sure, the opponent attorney this time is only a temp and he probably won't be returning for season 3 (given that this is a Special, after all), but wow, did he give a lasting impression. The first few trials were intense. Extortionist vs Extortionist; both sides playing dirty and mudslinging 'til the very end...

Ironically, it's the truth behind everything that set everyone free. :object: Truth-seeking is back in business, baby! Yeow!

...Excuse me. Maybe I should have given myself a little more time to give a less biased review. Since I'm the only one posting in here, I might as well post again...

I've seen the beginning and end of the first season.

In my opinion, Legal High is the worst shaggy dog joke I've ever seen.

Only the first and last? You're missing out on the best episodes of the first season. When it comes to drama series like this, it's always a good idea to move along with the mystery, rather than solve it outright by jumping to the answer. Well, going out of order isn't that bad an idea either; especially if you're left feeling cheated out of the finale.

I do prefer the second season overall for a more consistent sort of storytelling, and its ending, while much more predictable, was executed perfectly, imo. There's also a lot more room for betrayal in this one, and I enjoy myself a good betrayal story from time to time.

We watched it for class, so it wasn't by my own choice :P

Then I have to declare that your professor is awesome. Perhaps he (or she?) had suggested his students watch the rest on their own? :3

I'm actually pretty sure the only reason we watched it was because one of the students recommended it to the teacher xD
(The teachers just showed stuff they liked, tho. We would've watched a j-drama regardless, b/c that teacher liked j-dramas; I think it was just Legal High in particular cuz one of the other students recommended it. I heard that in the class taught by the teacher who likes anime, they got to watch anime instead...)

No matter! Any sharing of this J-drama is time well spent!

Speaking of J-dramas, how is Trick? I know one of the episodes in the first season actually referenced it (as well as Kindaichi, apparently), but I have yet to see anything of it. And simply because Mr. Sakai is an amazing actor, I'm thinking about trying Hanzawa Naoki as well. Studying Japanese is the perfect excuse to say I'm studying Chinese, ho ho ho...

Trick is amazing. It isn't really fair-play mysteries, and sometimes it's kinda silly, but the tricks are all unique, the characters are crazy, it's hilarious, and they strike a perfect balance between comedy and mystery. I don't really watch j-dramas, but I think it'll be quite a while before I find one I enjoy more.

We actually watched all of Hanzawa Naoki for class... It wasn't bad, but probably not something I would've watched on my own. (But again, I'm also not a j-drama person.)

(...i'll admit tho the only reason i started watching trick was because of abe hiroshi)

Trick is one of my two all-time favorites, but you should always keep in mind that it is not a comedic mystery: it's a comedy that happens to be wearing a mystery coat. The whole set of Trick is just a playground for everybody involved, from the actors to the camera crew and everyone is encouraged to pretty much do everything as weird and eccentric as possible (especially after the relatively sober first season). Tsutsumi Yukihiko's directing is something not everybody will appreciate, but I love it. (pro-tip: watch the original Kindaichi Shounen no Jikenbo drama, Keizoku and Trick in order, you'll notice how Tsutsumi slowly developed his style).

Haven't seen Hanzawa Naoki, but it was extremely popular in Japan. Everybody loved 「やられたらやり返す。倍返しだ!」.

(My other favorite is Furuhata Ninzaburou, basically a Japanese version of Columbo. GS was influenced a lot by episode 1 of season two of FN by the way).
