Welp, it's over.

I don’t really have much to say here, so I’d just like to take the time to thank a few people.

Doctor Nanjo, obviously. I couldn't have done this without him.
Lone for his art contributions (especially those sweet execution graphics) and for keeping the spooky movie theatre active.
CaptainPancakez, who not only did an excellent job with his role but was also a tremendous help in running the final trial smoothly.
Southern Corn for giving us James and for being himself.
Cesar Zero and Collin1002 for having the sickest redemption arcs ever.
DootDootDoot for being the best newcomer in the game… Seriously though, he did great.
JesusMonroe I forgot what I was gonna put here

And just for the record, you guys don’t have to complain about how much you hated Ch3 or other plot developments, because I probably hated them more than you anyway.

I'll have more to say in the coming days as the discussion picks up more but great job Nanjo and PB. And great job to Lone too the art was great.

This game was really full of life and you guys went the extra mile in so many ways beyond the detailed alibis, but giving each character well-deserved storytime and writing some of the music themes.

I was feeling a bit weird with Jack at a lot of points and was kind of nervous of how he was gonna turn out but I love the ending you guys set up for him and it was better than I imagined. I especially loved that the bad thing he did was outside the killing game. So definitely thanks a ton for that.

And unrelated to Jack stuff, but my favorite Chapter was Ch5. Despite how long it was it was a really unique case especially with the past and present dynamic. Way better than tacking on a Ch6, and having Otto there to smooth things along was a great decision too.

VAL was my favorite character by far. It was the sweetest, and everything it said just made my heart melt. I just got sad reading that you wanted to have VAL sacrifice itself for Jack, I didn't even consider that as a possibility since I thought it'd be too upset about Ortwin/it wasn't close enough to Jack. Too good for this cruel world.

Oh gosh, thank you ;A;

V.A.L. is 100% the type of person who would do anything for a friend, and it considered Jack a friend. It was a really hard decision, because in the same chapter it confirmed who it's creator was, it learned about Jack's mistake. Ultimately the fact that it was an accident overruled V.A.L.'s pain, and when push comes to shove, V.A.L. wants to help.

And so it ends. Gotta admit, I posted much more than I thought I would, and I even survived! Thanks for the mention, PB, lol.

Anyways, I'm not gonna make this too long. ... I think. Anyway, first off, the cast--all of them were great, in my opinion. There weren't really any duds, I felt. Special mention to Panda for making Keri great, though. I would've been devastated if she died, lol. Oh, and to Pancakes for making our FTE the most wacky thing ever. Seriously, if you start at post 27... yeah, lol. Also to my other FTE partners, those being TLF, SiRReN, SC, Kachu, and Lone. While some were shorter than others, I enjoyed them all. My FTEs with Florian and V.A.L. were especially cute.

Next, the plot. It had a pretty interesting premise, though the reveal of the meltdown simply being an accident was kinda eeeehhhh to me, personally. Quite the twist, though. Certainly no one was expecting that, I believe, lol. Other than that, I did really enjoy it. Credit is definitely due to PB and Nanjo for running this and doing their absolute best, and they did a pretty great job, honestly.

I enjoyed the trials as well, though my least favorite was probably chapter 3. The monster just kinda threw me off, lol. And you killed my best fren, so that's unforgivable. :p

But yeah, all in all, I enjoyed this a lot. I'm glad that I lived, and I'm especially glad that I redeemed myself as well. I hope Bryan was at least passable to you all as a character.

In any case, this was me with my thoughts. Adieu for now.

Anyways yeah this was great, I think the story of this game was really satisfying and the mastermind reveal ended pretty swell. This game also has the best cast IMO and I'm really pleased with how most players played their characters. Especially Collin and Cesar, who I was wary of tbh (Liza and Rina, the power duo) and they ended up being great players and had good characters too.

Some of the mysteries did feel sort of frustrating but I think the GMs willingness to please everyone with their own little arcs more than made up for it, and thinking back it had some of my favorite moments (Raul's ending was awesome or example) out of any F game.

I'm prolly gonna have some more criticism later cause I'm a buzzkill and like to ruin good vibez but for now gg

Good game, everyone! Sadly, Abby was short-lived, but I still had lots of fun in the short time I had.

Kudos to PB and Nanjo for really doing some very new stuff, and pulling it off very well!

I think that's the one thing I woukd have liked to experience - V.A.L. being with Abby. It would have made for a completely different outcome for it, perhaps!

Well, the game's over. I don't have a lot to say overall, besides that I had a lot of fun and I hope everyone else enjoyed playing alongside me as much as I did with you guys.
As far as characters go I've said this already a lot of times but I loved Oscar and Keri to bits, and honestly they're more or less the reasons that kept me reading the game until the end.
I probably won't be coming back for F5 depending on timeframe, although we'll have to see how that plays out, but I'm sure looking forward to future games.
I have no idea how to end this post so please stop reading now this is harder than it looks

I wasn't super into this game starting off but that picked up quickly. Honestly the amount of love put into this is outstanding. Great job to everyone involved, it wouldn't be as good without all of us!

Ending was probably my favorite part. What a chapter 5. Really put the two chapters I killed to shame. (Totally a connection here, me killing chapter 5 ruins it sorry.)

I hope we can make F5 just as good, if not better, whenever that comes. Good game everyone.

Geez I can't believe it actually already ended. This was great.

I loved most of the cast, pretty much everyone had a memorable personality. James was also a great villain and played a vital role in the cast dynamic so, kudos to SC for that.

I'm pretty satisfied with Raul and I really thank PB and Nanjo for some of the stuff they did with him and the ending he got. I wished I had shown a bit more of the other sides to his personality but maybe stopping my avant-garde breaking of rule 3 will help with stuff like that next game.

I don't have much to say about the cases, the alibis were awesome and I suck at trials too much to properly judge them. Chapter 2 and 5 were my faves though. The plot itself was rather interesting and all the story developments except maybe Abby being the mastermind were great.

I'm definitely looking forward to F5 and any other RPs specially now that I don't have to worry about being rejected for inactivity. (Oh yeah, almost forgot: congrats to Collin on the redemption arc, Bryan was great.)

So yeah, gg everyone, and congrats to PB and Nanjo for successfully running this whole thing.

Dead pic (the one I'm using now) came from this Tumblr:
http://essor0706.tumblr.com/post/176508 ... ungeon-log
However, I really can't for the life of me track down where I found the picture I used for most of the game. I don't even remember if it was also from Tumblr.
If you want to look for more of the character, he's just called The Jester, from Darkest Dungeon. To find the pictures I just searched "DD Jester" on as many sites as I could.

Hey, y'all. I think literally everyone did a good job working with us to try and give the cast and story some depth and I'm pretty grateful about that. I'm glad we accepted everyone who applied, even if it was cumbersome trying to write stuff for everyone. Big thanks to PB for doing like 80% of the actual legwork and putting a lot of heart into the game and its world.

I feel like over the courese of this game, quite a number of things missed their mark, and I gotta apologize for that. I hope you all were able to enjoy the parts that actually clicked together. I definitely learned a lot trying to set up all those mysteries, considering all the stumbling blocks we had, and I also learned a lot about trying to manage everyone's characters and enjoyment.

I really want to leave some advice here to new GMs, but I find myself at kind of a loss for words. I guess the most important thing to remember is engage with your players as much as possible. It's what will help you get through sore spots in the mystery, it is what will help you make great story moments happen, and it's what will help you alleviate some of the burden of running.

Anyway, I really need to play in F5, so someone please run it eventually!

Also another thanks to everyone who played because they were great. And another thanks to PB because he was great.

Hey, this is finally over! So, I suppose I should give my own thoughts on it, huh? Well, thanks to PB and Nanjo for hosting this. Boy, did they do a great job with GMing this game. I'm pretty impressed with how avant-garde this game was with respect to breaking the typical DR formula, it kept me refreshed a lot. And hey, speaking of avant-garde, I suppose I should get to my own character!

So yeah, James. I'll say that this is my first time in an F game properly playing an antagonist role (since Cox and Chisami weren't really meant to be that somehow), but it was pretty fun getting into it this time! With such a great start like chapter 1 and making everyone think I killed Abby, I couldn't have been happier! Chapter 4 was good too, it was nice planning out my death with the GMs and I think James got a great send-off in the end. Chapters 2 and 3 were a little eh, but at least James got great start and end (in my opinion). I hope everyone else enjoyed seeing me try to insult people 24/7!

Oh, and I think he might have been one of the people with the most FTEs? I had 9 other FTEs with people, 10 counting that beautiful Love Suite. Is there anyone who beat that record?

Oh, and the other players were amazing too! Special shout-outs go to:

Marlowe (because I'm never calling him by his first name), to me the most dynamic and consistently funny character in the entire game. Huge kudos to JM for being so great, it was lovely.

Bryan and Raul, as PB said, got the best redemption arcs ever! Raul especially, he even got to off James for everyone's sake. Great job, you two. Perhaps I should try working with you all on something much bigger...

Boetius was a super fun character with a pretty great design. It was definitely fun talking to him and DootDootDoot did a BeautBeautBeaut job with him! Oh, by the way, I hope you read that Love Suite, Dootster.

Keri was especially fun and interesting too, but hey, it's Kami's character so no surprise there :p

Urumi I don't have much to say about but I did like how she was (relatively) a straight gal type of character, it was quite refreshing to see.

Jerry is Lone's best character since Flo.

Also I know pretty much everyone's seen this by now but here's a nice thing I wrote up. For reference, if James wasn't going to be the Chapter 4 victim he'd probably have been a killer instead. So basically if he was the killer and had been caught, he would have had this really amazing breakdown sequence. What would it have been like? Well, you can see here. Hope you enjoy!

And yeah, I think that about covers it all! You all were amazing, thank you for letting me into this game PB/Nanjo. I'm glad you liked my antagonising skills in the end. Good game, everyone. 'Twas fun to be with you all.

Good job guys, I had fun.

I was initially still burnt out from F3, and was just gonna read the bare minimum in chapter 1, die, and not bother touching the thread after. Yet somehow, after the first trial had ended, so had the burnout, and I got invested again. And yes, I followed the rest of the game, right up to the ending. Lol, good job on keeping me in for four chapters longer than expected.

Needless to say, I'm still surprised at how many people liked Jerry. I just half-assed him and hoped things would work out, which they somehow did. Thanks PB and Nanjo for making his backstory reveal a good one. I appreciate it. Still, this continues the trend of my non-serious characters somehow becoming more liked than my proper ones. Anyway, since my enthusiasm for these games has been restored, I'll try and get into F5 now, unless my schedule doesn't allow for it.

Most of the art stuff wasn't too difficult to work on. The gifs, the first map, and the dead sprites were made before the game started, all the other versions could just use the first versions as templates. It definitely helped that I didn't have to balance GM duties while making these this time round. I hope they added some life into the game.

I got other stuff to say, but I don't wanna be a buzzkill, so for now, I'll leave with this:

Matt: Good job on playing it so well in the third trial. It was a blast to watch, and I was rooting for you to get away with it. Either way, good job with Irene, she made for an entertaining killer.

SC+Cesar: 4-4's post trial, man, I thought it was impossible for me to like post trials, and yet you guys proved otherwise. James and Raul were both great, and once you guys joined the dead threads, it became loads of fun.

JM+Doot/Igniter: Had a blast with you guys in the dead threads too, GG.

Collin1002: Bryan was loads of fun, and I was rooting for him until the very end. It would have broken my heart to see him kill someone, I'm glad he didn't. And sorry I couldn't do much in our fte, still hadn't gotten over my burnout at that point.

And of course

Planetbox+Nanjo: GMing is tough, and you guys did a great job. All the respect in the world to you, and once again, thanks for making Jerry work despite my minimal effort with him.

And since I started working on the GIF before the first killer was decided, I had to make a version to serve as a template.

But yeah, glad you liked the post trial, even if you were expecting James to be all "thank you my friends" and whatnot.

Despite the issues I had, I still had a lot of fun with F4. It had the strongest overall story, even if I wasn't personally a fan of the answer to the meltdown. It's the first DRF game where I've made a bunch of predictions/deductions about the plot, so I was definitely invested. I think PB and Nanjo did a good job, overall, especially with alibis.

I was quite excited for Keri, so I'm glad she was received well. And she played out to be even more fun for me than anticipated.

I think Bren was great, so considering Igniter was a first timer, you did really well there! As others have mentioned, Raul and Bryan were also great considering past games, especially Bryan who was a personal favourite. I liked my FTEs with Koichi and Oscar, Oscar notably standing out more to me than Molly did (possibly due to actually interacting with him this time). VAL was wonderful; I was actually unsure about it at first, I thought it seemed like a very stereotypical robot, but as the game progressed it really, really grew on me. Sorry for never saying 'V.A.L.' properly, after using VAL to start with I kinda got stuck and thought it might be weirder to change. Then there's Urumi, who obviously I had a lot of fun interacting with, but even more than that Keri's FTE with her was the one that caused Keri to grow and change the most, even going in new directions that I hadn't anticipated which is amazing.

Also special mention to Jack, who wasn't a personal favourite but who I think added a lot to the cast as a whole. He was always very much his own character and he felt strongly concepted, and I really do appreciate that. The final reveals about him felt perfect.

In general I feel the F4 cast was very good overall, even the ones I didn't mention above. Combined with the GMs giving them all plenty of character moments, they really shined. (So also, I'm very happy with PB and Nanjo for that.)

And so it ends. Second game to be a part of and a significantly different experience than F3. Helps that I actually semi-knew what to expect and also had a character that I felt more passionate about than last game.

Glad to hear Oscar was liked by some of y'all. A big step up from Molly I'd hope. Biggest regret this game was my weak endgame honestly because really I could have stood to do more in those last couple chapters, which was unfortunate. Had fun with him for the ride anyhow. Also shout-out to all my FTE partners for a good time and putting up with my schizofrenic posting habits. Looking back there's a lot I would go back and improve, but at the very least they're good lessons for the future.

As for le story I could tell a lot of heart poured into it by PB and Nanjo, which stayed interesting for the most part. Ch. 3 was good until the trial, which I was kinda 'eh' on. A few too many things trying to work their way into the case and overall felt fantastical compared to the rest of the game. Also wasn't a fan of the twist behind the meltdown, though still enjoyed the rest of Ch. 5 despite that. Big regret again not getting myself as involved in that final leg.

Not sure what else to say other than had fun and hope all involved did as well. Also side note I promise not to take 700000 years writing an ending this time

Figures that the meltdown twist would be controversial. There wasn't much else we could do though. It's not like we could have just grabbed some random nerd like Bryan and said "you're a terrorist now, deal with it." I guess Jack should have been more directly involved, but that was probably more of a burnout problem than anything. I think Nanjo had some idea where he was directly responsible, but I could never understand it. Something about like air pressure I think. idk all I really care about is that JM was happy with how Jack went out.

Speaking of Nanjo, I don't want to understate how much he did for the game. Even I did most of the writing, he was behind a lot of the big stuff conceptually. Frequently I'd be stuck on something and he'd just point out the simple, obvious solution I totally overlooked. He also did most of the mystery details near the end cause I was too tired to think of anything. Basically, I definitely owe a lot to him.

You did great lcarus, had my own share of schizophrenic FTEing anyway, especially when I got busier in the latter half. Oscar had my favorite last post too. Just read the Keri and Oscar FTE, and have to admit I missed all the signs. Unfortunately they're feelings that Jack wouldn't have reciprocated.

Anyway, glad to hear some people liked Jack too, I was afraid of otherwise. I've seen a good amount of "Oh I thought he was an asshole until I talked to him" which was the opposite impression I was trying to give but it seemed to work out fine :p. When I was considering survivor routes I very much appreciated Oscar pushing him to actually do something and definitely appreciated the Keri FTE for giving a very solid idea I was happy with. Didn't end up getting used, but if Jack had an ending it'd involve some sort of grow-op.

SC, James was definitely the funniest character in the game for me. And I loved how consistently you put life into him with the music and different antics. Kind of wish we got to see that breakdown in-game but it's nice to have anyway (there was a point where I wanted him to kill Jack, and it looked you said a similar thing from skimming the qt). I'll also give you the reward for best (most-fitting) avatar.

And also to be contrarian, I actually liked the twist that the meltdown was an accident (not cause it was Jack I swear). I actually thought the plot being trying to find some terrorist who started the meltdown was pretty meh. I think in general I really appreciated how the final chapter threw twists out that still kept the spirit of why the twists themselves were good.

Kyle is the victim! --> Don't worry a classmate still dies in this dramatic final chapter.
The first victim is the mastermind! --> Don't worry, there's a second mastermind who can still be unveiled for the climax.
The second mastermind is the evil terrorist! (which would be a twist that required rewriting a character) --> Actually the meltdown was a complete accident.
Wow so Abby did this for no reason. --> She did get to kill someone responsible for her father's death at least.
The second mastermind is unveiled... ---> But we still haven't found Kyle's killer.

Specifically for the accident twist I just like how sometimes there's no grand reason or evil scheme behind disasters. A bit far-fetched on how it happened, sure. But it being an accident itself was fine for me.

So yeah, no real complaints from me on the final case. I thought it was really well done and made what I had thought was kind of an uninteresting story up to that point into my favorite from the F games (not that there's much competition, but still an accomplishment). Might be my favorite F case ever but idk.

My case ranking is probably 5 > 2 > 1 > 3 > 4. I actually did like Case 3 a good amount, especially how the trial ended. It at least made Jack respect the hell out of Keri lul. I loved the setting and daily life, and mostly hated the monster bullshit. Case 4 was just my least favorite cause it was the most boring one, but it was still kind of interesting that James died and the post-trial was really good too.

Haha, thanks JM XD It was definitely fun playing along with your wacky antics. I kind of wish I kept up with it into the middlegame but I'm glad you liked it anyway. Avatar isn't saying much since I came up with the avatar first instead of the design but whatever.

In terms of case rankings, 5>1>4>3>2. I really like 5 despite the accident thing because it still has a ton of good moments making for a satisfying climax. 1 and 4 are also great to me because of my involvement in them and how satisfactory it was seeing them unfold. 2 and 3 I'm a bit meh on but mainly because I wasn't really as invested in them and there was some dissonance with me and the locations.

I didn't mind that it was an accident, but it was like, wayyy too crazy and didn't really come across as "irresponsible" because I couldn't really suspend my disbelief to say "yeah, I can see how I'd blame Jack here."

Endgame was still excellent anyways so idc

Oh I can agree with that. I would've preferred something more intentionally reckless but the fact that the Ortwin thing happened too made me feel a bit better on it--that he at least deserved to die as much as the other killers sans Irene did.

I liked that the meltdown was an accident too, for the unexpectedness. I think the best thing a writer can do is surprise the reader, and I doubt anyone was expecting that answer.

I also enjoyed Koichi being the second mastermind. I don't think he ever fully explained why he did it, but I think it was suggested it had to with personal failings during the meltdown, which made sense to me.

I both enjoyed and struggled with not having my memories, but I eventually got into a rhythm of going with the flow of information. It was fun being on the edge of my seat, worrying that I might have been involved with creating the killing game. The involvement I did have was enough to make V.A.L feel all kinds of guilt.

I really enjoyed all the other characters for their own reasons. It would have been nice to have a throw down with Oscar about him attacking V.A.L. because 'it wouldn't hurt him'. If you read my FTE with Keri we discuss that a bit. The FTE I had with Kami was definitely my favorite, and longest lasting. Keri seems to have been a focal point and really anchoring character for a lot of the players, so congrats on that Kami :) she definitely helped me and V.A.L. through some tough times and thoughts.

Next favorite would have to be my love suite with Jack. It gave me and V.A.L. a lot of closure in regards to Ortwin that we wouldn't have otherwise gotten.

Good game everyone :) And now I've got to write some kind of conclusion for V.A.L. right? I've never lived to the end, so this will be fun! Kami, would you be interested in collaborating on that?

We were kind of worried in the beginning that someone would kill V.A.L. right of the bat because it's not human and so wouldn't find it as difficult a decision as with the other 'living' players.

Yeah I would have liked to explain his motivations deeper but he got asked a grand total of like 2 questions so maybe his ending will clear that up a bit. Since I have to do one of those :u

The VAL Love Suite was great. To anybody reading it, I didn't know Jack had 'killed' Ortwin at that point in the story but he's ambiguous enough that at the end where it's not hard to believe Jack is thinking it :p

My biggest issue with the meltdown was the specific cause rather than it just being an accident, really. I was actually happy with the Jack/Ortwin interaction at the end, it felt very Jack. I think my enjoyment of the meltdown reveal was partially hindered by me needlessly worrying about how badly that would reflect on Jack and JM, but if JM okayed it then that's fine in hindsight.

Sure! We can discuss it over PMs. No idea how this is going to work out though, what with needing to consider Urumi as well XD
