Maya turned her head away from the TV and glanced at Phoenix and the envelopes he held out to her. She stood up and plucked them from his hands.
"Invitations? To... to MR. EDGEWORTH'S BIRTHDAY PARTY?!" she screeched. "Wow, this is so awesome, Nick! I've never been to his place... I bet it's a really nice high-rise condo, like all those rich guys have. Heh, I didn't think he was even the type to have birthday parties! Man, this must mean he really thinks of us as friends now, huh, Nick?"
She looked down at the envelopes in her hands again.
"Who's the third invitation for? Pearly is in Kurain right now..."

They left the office building and walked down the street. The skies were blue, but the sun was getting closer and closer to the western horizon. Maya pressed on happly, sandals clacking against the sidewalk. Soon her pace slowed down when she saw a fast food restaurant.
"Hey, Nick. I know there'll be food at the party and all, but can we go get some burgers?"

She seized Phoenix's hand and dragged him to the door, already eyeing the poster of a double chesseburger in the window hungrily.

Jail is lonely.
As Matt Enguarde stared at the wall, flicking his hail back, and forth, back, and forth, he realised it. And he was never going to leave here alive. They'd done that to him, put him in solitary confinement instead of execution because he hadn't actually commited the murder.
It was worse than death, when you thought about it.
The cuts on his face that he had inflicted on himself had scarred. He was a picture now.
"Oi! Enguarde! Dinner in five!"

They walked along the sidewalk. The weather was nice and mild, but in the crowded Los Angeles streets there wasn't much scenery. Maya soon grew bored, so she decided to spark up some conversation.
