Clearly what the game encouraged the player to choose. Even Maya wanted you to choose it, although it meant she'd die...

BUT the second time it asked me, in a different pretext...

:not-guilty:
Again what the game seemed to want me to do. Because Matt Engarde had a right to a fair trial, and because he was pretty much screwed anyway. Plus, it gets you the better ending scene, where Matt confesses his own guilt.

Guilty...Maya asked for it, literally. Matt also has mystery wine, and, darn it, that's not fair. :enguard:

Also, think of all the other mischief Matt could cause if he went free. He'd say to himself, "HA, got rid of Corrida and Andrews in one blow!" and go unchecked. (Scary thought...)

When I came to that decision, I was like, "omfg what am I suppose to do now?". Me being the one that sacrifices for the greater good.... I decided to say that Matt was Guilty.....

While on the second question, saying "Not Guilty" would still make Adrian guilty, it's worth it to rub it in to Matt how screwed he is.

"Not Guilty" the first time. Because Maya asked me for it, he deserved it, and I knew there was no way in heck the designers were going to actually kill off Maya for good. I was still really relieved when Franziska came in, though...

I loled^^ It would be like old school Mortal Combat (or maybe it was a spine...something was ripped out from a body); I don't remember which character could do that, but I always thought that was so cool, especially for the early 90's. GS could use some more random acts of courtroom violence.

I chose "Not Guilty", numerous times. I didn't care much for Adrian and I really would've felt bad for Shoe if I chose "Guilty". My heart was in the right place.

The Guilty verdict for Engard is hilarious. He was like scratching himself, and when Franny comes in I feel tempted to say: "Go Franny go!"
Sure Matt is nice and his hair is cool but I think Miles is far more charming.

The not guilty verdict aka "bad ending" made me cry first time I listended to it; the music is sad, poor Adrian. ;.;

I chose guilty because i imagined that would be the thing that phoenix would do.

And then Franziska bursts in and i'm like ' :zenitora: WTF NOOB GTFO MY TRIAL!!1!'

And then she presented evidence so i was like 'Oh. Fair enough.'
(Ok, so thats not really what i said but you get the drift)

Oh yeah, I was also wondering if that intense ripping of the face that Engarde did was how he got that first collection of scars across his eye (At first I just thought that Shoe mauled his face off).

The first time it asked me, I said guilty. I kind of assumed that Maya was going to be okay because the note she left in the cellar seemed to imply that. Also, I wanted justice to be served, Matt really infuriated the hell outta me.

The second time, I said not guilty, because I felt that
Spoiler: probably not necessary at this point, but just to be safe
not knowing when an assassin is going to kill you
was a greater punishment than being put in a jail cell. And I believed that Matt deserved the greater punishment... sorry, I really didn't like the guy...

I dithered over it for ages. Finaly choosing 'not guilty'.
I wanted to choose guilty, but then I thought of Maya, and even if she'd hate me forever, it was better than being dead. I pressed it and then thought of Adrian. I was all "I'm so sorry I couldn't do it!"

And then Franny turned up. I've never been so hapy to see that woman. If she were real, I'd have kissed her, and I don't go that way.

I could live without Maya. Frankly, people are annoying. I also looooove justice.

Here's what I think it means to be a lawyer:

A lawyer is an agent of justice*. It is his/her job, along with the prosecutor and judge, to seek out the truth. Of course, there's nothing wrong with prolonging the case without changing the outcome if it gets you more m0n33z.

I chose

:guilty:

And, apparently, so did most other people.

But, God, I spent forever dithering over it. And when I finally chose, I was crying :sadshoe:

The first thing that went through my mind when I finally got myself to choose was 'I'm sorry, Maya'.

Which was quite amusing, giving that's exactly what Phoenix was thinking two seconds later

I chose "guilty" because I didn't want to see Adrian dying in the place of that "refreshing like a spring breeze" bastard. And because Maya asked Nick to do it, she was prepared for the worst, and Adrian wasn't.

Before I made this decision, I thought hard about it for 5 minutes or more and felt very sorry in the end. I think this was the first time I made a choice in a videogame following my feelings. Thankfully, Franzy saved the day.

That's why I love this series so much. :edgy:

I'm pretty sure I checked up a guide for this decision. I actually found this case very hard, and I thought it was going to be a crucial decision, and I didn't want to make the wrong one.

Thankfully, it didn't matter.

I believe that a defense attorney's job is to defend everyone, innocent and guilty alike, and keep the system honest. This means being truthful, but a defense attorney fights for Mercy, not Truth or Justice.

I chose "Not Guilty" both times for a number of reasons.

The first time:

Spoiler: 2-4
* Maya was in immediate danger. Even if found Not Guilty, Matt was not an immediate threat to anyone else. He needed de Killer to do his dirty work. He might kill again, and then again, he might not.

* Either you represent someone in court, or you don't. If you represent them, you have to enter the plea they request. If I said "Guilty," it'd be overturned, and Matt would get off scot-free, anyway.

* I was confident that Edgeworth would do his job, and find a way to turn the case around.

I didn't expect Franziska; I had faith in Edgeworth.

The second time:

Spoiler: 2-4
* Engarde was the client, and you always represent your client's wishes... even if those wishes backfire for them.

* Specifically, for a lawyer, pleading Guilty when the client wants a Not Guilty plea is a bigger betrayal of the Truth than getting a guilty person off the hook. It's EXPONENTIALLY worse. It's the ultimate betrayal of client-attorney trust.

* POETIC JUSTICE.

* If Engarde died at de Killer's hand, that'd imply that what Phoenix said in court about the blackmail was true... which would clear Adrian's name.

You can make arguments about the two choices, but anybody who picked GUILTY both times would make a better prosecutor than defense attorney.

I was pretty stumped when this came up because I both hated Matt and loved NickxMaya. I really wanted Maya to be alright, but I also wanted to put Matt in jail. And then I thought about what Maya wanted, and I eventually chose "Guilty". I was on the edge of my seat the whole time in worry though. :'S.
