he's rich AND awesome, dudes!

And i thought it was obvious that i was a yugioh abridged fan.

Anyway, Edgeworth's awesome, plain and simple.

I was not expecting to play as Edgeworth at all! After playing through two cases as Mia, I figured that the story would focus on Phoenix for the last case. I look forward to going back and playing through this case a second time to compare it to the "Edgey experience" in AAI.

i say that it was cooler in AAI.

You have to remember, though, T&T was on the GBA in 2004, while AAI was on the DS in 2009.

I was somewhat disapointed because 5 minutes after I was all "So that mean's Godot not gonna show up! Waaaaaa! :larry: "
But i recovered when it was Franny and not some dude like Payne. Not that I don't like Edgey or anything, but i have already been playing as him in AAI which i bought about 3 days ago. And i unlocked Bridge to Turnabout 2 days ago so I really didn't care.

At first I was more concerned by "OH GAWD NICK'S IN THE HOSPITAL!" But after a while I thought it was cool of Edgey to take his place as a defense attorney. And totally set my P/E fandom into overdrive

And Edgeworth vs. Franziska was epic. That's probably one of my favorite trials of all time simply because they never went against each other before.

Ok, since most of you are Mileziska fans, here's the Deviantart profile of a girl who made a really awesome fanfic on Deviantart about Miles x Franziska.

http://hime-no-hachimitsu.deviantart.com/

The fanfic is called "On The Edge", and is NOT found on Fanfiction.net.

Warning: contains fluff AND lemon.

Post subject:  Re: Reaction to playing as Edgeworth in GS3

I enjoyed it. I don't think it would have worked if I'd have been made to play as him for any longer, possibly because my favourite part of Edgeworth's personality is his incredulous reaction when either something unexpected happens, or someone does something really stupid - works as a great contrast to his serious, stoic nature. I can't imagine that sort of thing would be sustainable for long, so I may have gotten bored of him pretty quickly.

Oddly enough, I only made one mistake as Edgeworth in his trial section, whereas I usually made a lot more with Phoenix. Dunno why.

To be honest, I was more excited when:

Spoiler: JFA
I got to play as Maya in Farewell, My Turnabout. Just because I really like her as a character. I mean, I felt it was a shame that you could only play as her for short bursts, but I knew that was kinda the point seeing as she was being held hostage.

Post subject:  Re: Reaction to playing as Edgeworth in GS3

Due to some freak-screw-up involving bad european localization managment, I ended up playing Trials and Tribulations as my first Ace Attorney Game ever.

So I didn't know who Edgeworth was.

First I was like.

:udgy:
:edgeworth: "...Edgeworth? I am playing as a guy, who is rich enough to cater a private jet, all of a sudden? Why?"

I just didn't get what was going on and why, for god's sake, Phoenix :phoenix: was apparently friends to a rich Prosecutor.

I mean, look at his other friends!
:maya: :pearl: :larry:

Then, I heard his voice.
:edgeworth: :takethat:

And I was like:
"Wow. He sounds... calm and smart. That's something new... That's different."

Then, I finally first saw his courtroom sprites. I was greeted by this:
Image

My reaction:
"Wait... I saw that guy before... Just where...?" *Jeopardy-Jingle plays*

Then, he went on and on and I thought how weird it was to suddenly play such a ernest, competent guy... and then he did this:

Image

And suddenly, it made *klick*

"AHHH! IT'S THAT RICH PRICK, WHO ALMOST PWND MIA!" :maya-shock:

I didn't really like him... until... some scenes later...

Image

...I learned that he was CUTE! :edgy:

And it got better and better from then on. I learned that he used to be a cute kid, that he's actually not cold, but socially awkward, that he's a closet Steel Samurai Fan.

And that's how I became a Edgey Fangirl. :maya:

Yes, that's right. It needed Edgeworth to fall victims to his worst phobia for me to like him.

...I'm such a weird fangirl. :-P

I thought it was one of the best moments of the series, actually. Bit of a roundabout way of putting him in the spotlight though. An old attorney friend of phoenix saving the day would've made more sense.

Post subject:  Re: Reaction to playing as Edgeworth in GS3

Yeah, I think 3-5 officially confirmed Edgeworth as my favorite character. :pearl-blush:

It was interesting to see Edgeworth out of his element. I think it made him develop him a little bit more respect for Phoenix. :phoenix:

His first "Take that!"... :maya-shock: I flipped out over the sheer newness of it. I don't how two simple words can be so exciting.

And some of the best parts, I think, were his penalty quotes. Edgey is one smooth talker. He handled failure so gracefully that I was sure the Judge would forget what the problem was and not penalize him.

As if Edgeworth by himself wasn't awesome enough, his interactions with Gumshoe were just the BEST. :gymshoe: (<-- second favorite character) There was hardly a line of dialogue passed between them that didn't make me smile. They make the best investigation team... even though it hurts whenever Gummy gets his salary cut...

The whole dynamic there was great warmup for AAI. I could tell AAI would be awesome because of the awesomeness of 3-5.

During the investigation? It consisted mostly of fanservice, but it cracked me up a few times.

The court phase was amazing though. A brilliant way to tie T&T to JFA's bonus ending.

Edgeworth was also fun to play as because he wasn't a sarcastic butt monkey like Phoenix or Apollo - I really don't see why Capcom sticks to this tradition.

Post subject:  Re: Reaction to playing as Edgeworth in GS3

I must agree with Asa Turney that Edgeworth developed greater respect for Phoenix by taking his place by having little evidence to work with, trusting clients, and having the Judge and prosecution firmly set against him.

It's a really nice change and adding Fransiska in the mix only added to my love for 3-5 and the dialog with Gumshoe was hilarious. Edgeworth also contrasted the spiritual nature of the case (because he's a man of science).

"Oooo."

It was everything I hoped it would be, too, save one small flaw that I concede was probably a compromise for the sake of gameplay flow (namely, he took the so-called "Psycholock" thing a bit too much in stride, even considering the hints at his having rolled his eyes and only half-listened when Phoenix first explained it to him). Definitely cemented my love for the character, in any case. :edgy: -- Pteryx

P.S.: I couldn't help but imagine an alternate version of his meeting with Phoenix the next day...

Yea, the whole "Psycholocks" thing kinda bothered me too. But if it meant we got to play as the sarcastic, generally angry, asshat of a prosecutor, then by gumbo I'll put up with it.
