LoL I love this quote!
it's a refernece to a play: "Waiting for Godot"
Somehow our :godot: got the unseen character's name! The play is about two guys standing around waiting for some guy named Godot who never shows up. Its a really funny quote if you get the joke. :moe-laugh:

I was so happy when that line popped up. It's even funnier in our Godt's case considering he's never prosecuted before and yet everyone expects great things from him.

Oh I just love you guys for writing down Godot (and Diego) quotes down.
Since I only own the German version of the game, I need others to tell me how the quotes go in English.

Please cite lots and lots more ^^

and later
"What are you talking about? This lantern is as clean as a whistle!" (makes more sense once you know about godot's mask.) And I'm not sure how these quotes go exactly, but that's what I can remembr.

Soooo, I want to have a personal coffee mug and plan on getting a Godot quote printed on it.
Which one should I choose? NO, not the "more bitter than hell itself yaddayadda" one, that one gets quoted like a bazillion times daily and I don't want to see it on my mug that damn often.
Any ideas, guys?

Post subject:  Re: Favorite Godot Quotes (Spoilers)

Alright, my first post, and it's going to be a good one. I use a lot of Godot's quotes in a professional capacity, so I wrote most of them down, and even created some of my own Godot quotes, Lezard-style!

Hot nights, and even hotter coffee. . . That's what I always say.

It is impossible to predict what the future has in store for any of us. . . That is precisely why people feel the need to judge the past.

"Good point?" So what? We are all but travelers on a road of infinite points.

Men that are trapped by the chains of "maybe". . . Can never reach their dreams!

A bet is only good when your life is the ante.

The world is filled with those who have said "I wish I had never asked that"

The weak get washed away by the tides of fate. The strong drink it up.

You're "ready?" Preparation is the last refuge of the weak. (lol, my personal fave!)

She was cute. . . But let's just say my Godot blend #107 impresses me a lot more. (Personally modified. Very funny)

This town is already filled to the brim with lies. Any more could only compound the tragedy we have been witness to.

If you're really a man, clean up your own mess.

One second is one drip of the coffee pot. Let's hurry it up.

...Upon meeting a beautiful lady, always ask for her name and profession. That's one of my rules. (And it's litterally one of my rules!)

There's no point in struggling. You're caught in a snare. The relentless snare of the law! And I'm the one that hauled you in! (Too...Cool...)

Everytime I am lied to, I down a mug of coffee. . . That's one of my rules. Then I like to do the same to the person who lied to me. I like to take them down with my empty cup.

The world keeps turning, and we must turn with it. Don't let the mysteries of yesterday mystify you today. Only losers think like that. You've gotta change with the times!

I don't mind a woman who is weak to the siren's call of money.

My golden rule. Chuck out a bad cup of coffee. You can always get another.

I even tamed the tiger for you. It was a 3 cup job. No problem.

Always chase a riddle down to the end. . . It's one of my rules.

That argument is as weak as the coffee at Tres Bien.

Tsk tsk tsk. If your mug is filled with black and bitter suspicions. You gotta drink them down quick. . . Like this!

Men are like colonies of bacteria. . . The more heat you apply, the faster they grow.

If you ask me, you are just being naive about the whole thing. There are 253 distinct types of bitterness in coffee. . . But to pick out each one requires total concentration of the senses.

Add the pureness of milk to the perfect clear darkness of coffee. . . Stir. That is the state of the witness mind right now - - A cup of cafe au lait. Mr. Trite's words are the milk, and you are the spoon your honor.

Human are afraid of the dark, and yet. . . At the same time we are fascinated by it. Maybe that's why humans drink the darkness that is coffee.

It takes a ton of pressure to make a diamond.

A coffee's most reliable accomplice is it's deep profound aroma

You think maybe my beans are a bit under-roasted, but you have no idea gramps.

Ha...! You should try some sweet cafe con leche, at least once!

People are like books, we've all got a front and a back, you get my drift?

Ha...! Everyone on the planet is an accomplice to something. It just happens to be that in this case, it's to a murder. (LOL!)

Humans are fragile, fickle beings. Our hearts change with the shifting of the tides. There is only one thing constant in this crazy world. . . The bitter darkness that lies at the bottom of this mug.

I had a javachino. I suggest everyone try a sip, just for the experience.
"Thank you!"
I said it's worth a sip, and not one more.

Gumshoe: You're done with me already? But I haven't proven anything yet!
Godot: You did, you've proven your own incompetence.

A shot of espresso has a lifespan of only ten seconds. . . Drink it while it's hot! That's what I always say. (My own)

Throw out a pot of coffee if it's sat for an hour. . . That's one of my rules. (My own)

Add water to curb the harsh intensity of espresso and you end up with an Americano. . . (My own)

Well, I feel like I've given something back to the world today. Someone, somewhere will read these quotes, and be inspired beyond words. Godot IS the ultimate romance novel hero. Stepping into his shoes would yield more babes than a rock star on tour.

Nicely put, Lezard. I too like to make my own phrases, and they are often inspired by Godot's coffee addiction.
It's nice to be called a "philosopher" at school. :godot:
My favorite though is definitely the one in my previous sig. "We are all but travelers on an infinite line of points...

Does anyone know the long complicated one where Phoenix responds with something like: "Could you stop it with the mindless metaphors and illogical proverbs?"

mine is definitely from case 3-5. It's simply deep~

My absolute favorite I only noticed when I was watching my boyfriend play 3-4 (after I had finished the game myself.

Diego: Smiling on the outside while your guts are twisted in knots is the mark of a pro.

Why?

Spoiler: 3-5
I love it because the way I see it, it is heavily relevant to Godot in Bridge to the Turnabout, particularly in the scene where Phoenix and Franziska come to the Inner Temple side for the first time after the bridge has been fixed and he appears. At that point, he has been stuck at the temple in freezing cold (with a very limited supply of coffee) for more than thirty-six hours, he has murdered his dead girlfriend's mother, he has been slashed in the face with a knife and had no medical care whatsoever, and he has woken up to find that Maya seems to be locked inside the Sacred Cavern and is in all likelihood dead (which would mean he failed to prevent the death of Mia's sister as well and yield all his suffering pointless). If there was ever a time anyone's insides would be twisted in knots, it's him then.

And he ignores the throbbing pain in his face, hoping only that the visor will keep the bleeding in; he looks at that pathetic Mr. Trite who is so completely oblivious, who was just lying somewhere in a hospital bed while all of this happened, while everything went wrong and his world collapsed into a living nightmare; and he smiles his best Diego-grin, though it brings a new sting of pain to his wound. And what of it if his agony seeps through into his more-scathing-than-usual comments or his irrational transferal of his own guilt onto the man standing in front of him? He smiles like the pro he is, and he's so damn good at it that Trite never realizes there is anything wrong.

(...yeah, I got a bit carried away there. <_< Blame the writing gene!)

And that is why I think that quote is the most awesomely relevant, foreshadowing thing he says in the whole game. :D

^^This made me smile so much while I was reading it and even brought a tiny tear to my eye.

But on to the thing I wanted to type...
The one quote I was waiting for the entire game happened right at the end:

:godot: Right now, this one here is the greatest cup I think I've ever had.
Don't you think so...
Phoenix Wright?

:phoenix: *drinking some of Godot's coffee*:
Yeah...
I think you're right.

I waited so long for Godot to not say Trite.

There is so much quotes here! I can only think of a few quotes that Godot or Diago said:

:javado: - "A lawyer is someone who smiles no matter how bad it gets."
:godot:- "Men that are trapped by the chains of "Maybe" ...can never reach their dreams!"
:godot: -"Hey, Filly. Know your role, and shut your mouth. I can’t stand women like you." ( Said that to Von Karma)
:godot: - (When Phoenix got evidence to prove Godot gulity on case 5)"G-Give me a break! You've go nothing Trite."
:godot: - (When he realize that he was wrong about Phoenix)"I never liked you. Six years ago, you helped the woman who put me to sleep by hiding her bottle of poison. And then while I was sleeping, you let Mia die. But you didn't care. You kept living your pathetic happy-go-lucky life. You even had the nerve to follow her footsteps as a lawyer. I could never forgive you. That's what I thought, but I was wrong about you. The truth is, the person I could never find it in my heart to forgive is......me.

That's about the most I can remember that I think isn't already here.Sorry, if anyone else wrote these already. :javado:
