Does this message board platform support message deletion?

It'd be a nice feature to have because I see people double and even triple posting only to have to just edit their posts to say nothing when they realized it. Might be easier if we could just remove posts if they clutter up the board.

I don't think there's a delete option. I simply just report those posts and let a moderator delete them

PHPBB is very configurable. But I don't see any changes to this matter any time soon.
