It's in the pipe line, but Croik and I decided not to do one at this point in time because the Japanese release was just too close to AAI's. There WILL be one for the English release, however. |

That's actually... really cool. The program that the artist in the video is using, is that Photoshop or Corel Painter? And oh god, it looks like the tablet he's drawing on is a Cintiq 21ux, which is pretty much a tablet/screen hybrid. I want one of those so bad, but they're UBER expensive. Like, we're talking $1300-$2000 for just one. |

LySs wrote: And oh god, it looks like the tablet he's drawing on is a Cintiq 21ux, which is pretty much a tablet/screen hybrid. Yeah, that's the first thing I noticed when I watched the video. Man, it'd be sweet to get one of those! My school has a computer lab full of them, but I can't use it without special permission since I'm not an animation student. Colonel Olrik wrote: You...You...YOU... ...are entitled to your opinion, and I share that. I am loving the hand-drawn stuff! I think that if she were at a HD-ish angle rather than head-on, it would be even more fantastic-er. True, that. I think the other people worked at the art with more heart than me. Yeah, I would've gone for a better angle except I didn't have the time and energy to look for one. Perhaps, I can compensate by animating this...? shadowofedgeworth wrote: Meenyman wrote: Dragonclaw23 wrote: What if Kyle was her detective? *insert endless amounts of whipping here, and the word fool being used over and over again* I don't think so, Kyle wouldn't put up with that crap for one second! XD Yeah, here's the thing - I have a tablet PC. When my dell died, I said fuck it and got an HP TouchSmart tx2. D: They're only 600 some dollars now, but it doesn't have pressure sensitivity with Adobe anything. Autodesk Sketchbook Pro supports it, though. All I did to make that was trace, take it into photoshop, lasso'd around all the areas of shadow, blurred, and then scribbled :D I'll see if I can do more... |

Hey, what can I say, great minds think alike. Plus, it doesn't hurt that the art book sketches are just "perfect" for the Dusk art technique. Plus there's the added bonus that for the most part, no one's seen/paid attention to them. Have to admit, I'm personally fond of Proto-Phoenix's lanky down to earth poses and attitude. That and how crazy Luke Atmy was in his sketches. |

Post subject: | Re: The Art of Last Window |
Time for another sucky attempt... I tried my hand at animation. But I ran into a few problems. I don't know how to shade, so I stole some shading from Jeff and his shifty pose. And I couldn't draw Beta-Phoenix's eyes, so I stole some, also from Jeff. All in all, I think I like my first attempt more. But here's to self improvement. |

Actually, it's rare you catch me IRL without a flat-cap. You've got taste Wooster, Shame on me for forgetting Jeff....that said I could never stand the guy, still how did you get the little 'shade flicker' effect to work? |
Author: | Wooster [ Fri Feb 05, 2010 9:57 pm ] |
Post subject: | Re: The Art of Last Window |
Shade flicker? It was easy. Very time consuming, but easy. First I started with the sketch and did some manual vectorization. Basically ink the darn thing. Then colored it a bit to my tastes. After that point it's time to do the pencil sketch lines, leave all the pencil markings in their own layer. Then, on a new layer, I tried to sketch the same lines again. It's impossible to get it exactly the same way with that method, but that's what I was aiming for anyways. Then I repeated that process for the third pencil shading layer, again using the first pencil sketch layer as a template. After that Using Black at about 20-27% opacity ( I inadvertantly didn't use the same opacity setting on one of the frames, which may caused the flicker you noticed), outline any of the pencil sketches while viewing only that particular layer. By that point I was just plain tired, so rather then do the white outline effect manually, I exported each of the three rendered files to Photoshop, did a greyscale and white outline, laid them out in the animation window, then saved for web. |

Yeah, that was what I kind of did with my sucky hobo head: Mind you, I did this with a mouse, and it takes forever when you do that. |
