It's the same strange Layton remix of the Objection theme from the TGS event.

I also notice that, in most shots from the original trailer, they try to hide young Luke. Looks like the decision to use the original Luke was a rather hasty decision.

Also, :garyuu: @ spinning/dancing mob jury.

Aaaah that emotionless objection face...I really hope it doesn't ruin it for me.

Though I think Layton's 3D model came out better the gameplay looks good enough.

Though I hope ALL the music isn't Laytonised I prefer GS's music.

That is one awesome trailer!

Though I agree with Pierre, that emotionless objection face tortures me a little.. but seeing as it is one of the most important poses for our characters, don't you think it will be polished up before the game's release?
Also, I hope they do something about toothless Maya :payne: If you don't know what I am referring to, watch the video again and look at the way Maya talks (the scene with Maya we've also seen a screenshot of).

Other than that, it looks fantastic!

EDIT: I am starting to think that the objection scene in the end won't occur in the game. Don't get me wrong, I am sure there will be some sort of objection with Wright and Layton side by side, but the angle of the camera and their face expression suggests that the clip was only created for this trailer. Could be wrong though.

This is getting me so excited!! We finally got to look at some gameplay. Personally, I quite like the music but hey Ace Attorney music should definitely be included especially during courtroom scenes. But the sprite of the mob hudding around one another just looks awkward to me, and is it only me or does Phoenix's face seem to be tilted too slightly down during his thoughts in Court? I like how the Prosecutor looks though! Other than that, so far so good, I think by the time it comes out it will be amazing! :)

This is a very delayed reaction on my part, but I was listening to the new MP3, and then comparing it to Objection 2001... I was like... this doesn't sound like Phoenix's objection theme... Moved onto Objection 2002... UNG couldn't stand that song. Next. Objection 2004, Nope not even close.

Then it hit me. Objection 2007, Apollo's objection. It has the same primary rhythm starting at 0:26 in the new song.

It is somewhat reminiscent of it, now that you mention it. Does it really count as a remix, though? :eh?:

I've gone ahead and subbed it on YouTube. There may be a few small errors, so feel free to correct me.

Also, Woost, now that TGS is over, should we do a wrap-up post like last year?

I hope not all of the music is done in the Layton style though. I prefer GS' music though Layton had some beautiful tracks (eg Iris in PB) and LF.

I was not... I definitely wasn't prepared for this.

I DEMAND SOMEONE DOES A FRAME-BY-FRAME BREAKDOWN OF THE LAST 30 SECONDS. TOO MUCH FOOTAGE IN THERE FOR US TO IGNORE IT! I mean COME ON, LUKE AND PHOENIX!

I honestly did not think I would live to see this game. I couldn't have imagined it, say, an year ago.

Hmm, I disagree. I don't think the song sounds specifically like a remix of any previous Objection theme at all. It does have that certain feel of one however so maybe this is just the Objection theme the game will actually use? It also sounds a bit like a Cross-Examination theme even.

It's still very good though.

My thoughts exactly, Yaragorm. I don't find that it sounds like any Objection theme. At least, it definitely is not a remix or a new version of an existing Objection theme. But it does have a similar vibe, so it could be this game's.

As I said, it contains the 'rhythm' of Objection 2007, where if a set of 16th notes is written as "1 E & A" it's the repeated "1 & 2 & 3 A" that betray's Apollo's objection. That was me trying to figure out why I had described the song as a Layton remix of the Objection theme, if it wasn't Phoenix's classic 2001 version. It 'did' contain elements of an objection song, but not any of the ones I had initially thought.

Hurm...maybe I'm just going off the rails here but...

Does the fact the subbed trailer (thanks Bolty) says "Layton and Wrights FIRST encounter" make anyone else at all think that a potential...sequel....could ever exist?

It is just a way of emphasizing uniqueness - the "first" was just a word I used to help convey the verb used in that context (just "Professor Layton and Phoenix Wright's encounter" sounded a little dry.) So sorry, no sequel tease this early.

That line was synced with Layton entering the room, so I got the impression that they were just highlighting their first encounter within this game. I could be misreading it

There was something in this new trailer that I noticed was different from the first trailer.

In this trailer, the blonde girl suspected of being a witch is standing in a cage but in the previous trailer she was just standing/sitting behind a desk. Not only that but the courtrooms in the two trailers themselves are vastly different. I'm not sure what that means though, it could easily be explained by the first trailer being beta material but if I had to put in my two cents I think that this game will be structured like a typical Ace Attorney game: multiple cases and an overarching plot that gets resolved in the last one, that might do something to explain why the courtrooms are so vastly different and it could also be used to clear up issues over Maya's clothing also making her seem like a witch.

I'm not sure I agree with that - the original trailer functioned well as a "concept trailer", hitting the important visual ideas and story elements before the details could be locked down - as has been noted, Luke switched from his PL4/PL5 outfit to his PL1-3 one, possibly in advance of PL6. It's possible there'll be more than one 'case', but I don't think the trailer is indicative of that.

I am really curious whether or not it'll at least be broken into chapters or something. Seems weird to think that Nick will be defending one person through a whole game. Gotta wonder how long they can sustain a witch trial, even if they break it up into in-court and exploration sequences like they do in the regular PW games. I wonder about the gameplay length in general.

I hope we've still got 'anime' cutscenes like in the very first trailer; 3D models are all well and good but there's something quintessential about Layton-like anime that they can't capture.
