From the games I've played that have DLC (Being Fire Emblem and SMTIV), I think it's safe to assume that the DLC would be shared. Only difference being is the release window for it.

As long as we get it that pretty much what matters just not a big gap in the release window :nick-sweat:

The good news is that both the costumes and extra case DLC has already been confirmed for Western release.http://www.capcom-unity.com/xantista/blog/2013/07/25/phoenix-wright-ace-attorney---dual-destinies-additional-episode-and-costume-pack-confirmed-for-western-release. Also, if the two people with pirates hats is from that case, the fact that the screenshot is in English shows that they have already started translating that case. This is a good indication that the DLC case should arrive sooner than later.

I'm still holding out hope for a Hobo Phoenix DLC costume.

Pretty psyched about that DLC case coming over to America, though. I honestly didn't think it would be localized when I first heard about it.

Can you usually buy Ace Attorney OSTs as .mp3s? I really want to buy this music, but a CD is so inconvenient.

So what are the chances of getting additional Downloadable cases besides the one already announced? It would be a great way to give additional spotlight to Edgeworth, Trucy, Klavier and so on.

The idea of DLC was originally a rather good proposition. The concept that a game could grow after release was a tempting notion.

However publishers grew too greedy and sullied the potential for gamers.

Personally, I still appreciate when DLC is done right. I've bought my fair share of legit DLC so as long as it doesn't seem exploitative and expands the game in a meaningful way, I'm in.

They are two screenshots of two new characters. I'm pretty certain it's the characters for the DLC case. I want to know what they're saying in the screenshots so can anyone translate them?

I don't get it. The DLC case is the first trial of Phoenix after regain him badge. If Simon is the prosecutor of the DLC case... it should not be the first meeting?

Well, 5-2 takes place before Phoenix gets his badge back. So it's actually Apollo's and Athena's first meeting with Blackquill in court, but Phoenix is still around and should know him since then.

This case really reminds me of that one scrapped or early concept area of Gatewater Land where Edgeworth is interacting with a Dolphin. I guess they imagined a water park could've been the center of a whole other different case.

Excuse me if I can't rap. He ends with the same mora per line, btw.

"A new trainer, Idzuka Ikuya! A master trainer is my aim!"

I don't have context for the her line, so it comes to about this.

Spoiler:
I'm not sure if Idzuka Ikuya (Ikuya is the last name, right?) is a guy or a girl, considering the character's androgynous appearance. And I don't exactly get the pun in his (I'll call the character a 'him' for now) name.

I take it that there has been no release date of the DLC case released yet?

Nope.

Spoiler:
Well, he looks like a guy, but I suppose I can't say it for sure. Actually, it's Ikuya Idzuka, following western naming order. I'm not sure what pun is in his name, but the kanji for iku means "raising" or "rearing"; idzuka -> itsuka = "some day", "in due time". He plans to become a master trainer himself, I think.

Maybe they'll update the website with information regarding the price and release date and more information regarding those two characters. I mean, they did give away screens of them so I don't think they're particularly spoilerish characters.

And is there anything meaningful or a pun in Ale and Shouko Umino's names?

I know "Umi" means beach, and that would make sense, seeing as she works with aquatic life.

umi = sea & shouko = evidence -> "evidence of the sea". I can tell she's a wild one.

And seeing how they're pirates, "Ale" seems appropriate, right? (unless it's short for hoe-ru = whale... oh wait, it fits just right)

The name is also interestingly using characters for 'wings' and 'flying', which juxtaposes to the sea theme. Now that I think about it, エール (Ale) is also 'air' (as in the French word, c.f. エールフランス). Heh.

I'm actually wondering about when future DLC cases would take place. It would get kind of boring if Phoenix is the main character in all of them and that they chronologically take place before the earliest case in the main game.

Spoiler: My pathetic attempt to analyze a screenshot
Image
I'm curious to see who the person wearing the black coat is. Since she said that an electric eel would shock you to death if you get in its way, some possibilities are that she's a tour guide, an aquarium trainer, or a biologist. And now that I think about it, there's something a bit odd about her left arm. The sleeves, I guess, kind of look like they're defying the laws of physics, or something like that. But I'm guessing the "finger gun" thing is just a gesture of her's (although I find it a bit weird she needs to use her right hand to hold the left one doing the finger gun).

Come to think of it, I wonder where the lady in black is when Phoenix first meets her. It kind of looks like some fancy office and the thing in the middle of the room looks like a tub, given the bottle of wine (or grape juice) placed on the side there.

And I wonder who will do the honors of starting the Turnabout Return thread once it is released.

I'm hoping we'll get at least one "serious" (as serious as AA can get), non-plot-relevant "real" case such as 1-3 or 1-5 that comes after the events of DD as DLC. Part of what made Case 1-5 fun was that you saw Phoenix in his element, free of most of the conflicts of GS1, just be a lawyer. I'd love to see that with DD, although I can't give a context since I've avoided spoilers for DD.

Yeah, that's why I put it in quotations. Here's what I meant:
Of the cases, 1-3,1-5,2-3,3-2, and 3-3 are the full-length cases which are standalone and not relevant to the overall plots.
Of those cases, the only ones I think were good we're 1-3 and 1-5.
And while 1-3 isn't serious like 1-2 or 1-4, I'd argue its still more serious than defending an orca whale.

So I had to use 1-3 as a point. 1-5 is the perfect standalone case in my opinion, though and that's what I'd love to get with DD.

Ugh. 1-5 is too long to be a good standalone case.
