So Trucy and Ema are BOTH back in GS6! (Yes, this is indeed real!)
Along with them is a new character whose name is possibly " Kanenari SHINOYAMA" (Thanks Ash!). And seems to be a producer related to the case that occurs during one of Trucy's performances.
It's also confirmed this case shown is Case 2!

About the case: an unfortunate (seemingly fatal) 'accident' occurs during one of Trucy's shows, resulting in her being arrested and held responsible.

The new character is probably called Kanenari SHINOYAMA, and it says he's a producer.
Edit: (though his given name could be anything from Kananari, Kinsei, anything. It's really too small to read, and they have a tradition of choosing less obvious readings of names)

edit: I knew it! She is the defendant. This makes it the second time? (First was in the DD audio drama, which I didn't take seriously anyway.) Anyway I'm looking forward to this!!

On another note, the new character gives off a very Robert Downey-Junior vibe doesn't he?

Really curious to see what happens in Case 2. Trucy isn't really a surprise (I mean, it was only a matter of time until they confirmed she was in), and Ema was already 'leaked' by that postcard.

More likely Shinoyama's stagename.
The other source indeed says Ema is in forensics now. Besides the 3D evidence, it also mentions being able to point out contraditions by comparing video footage from two different angles.
The armband is probably because Ema's in forensics now. Policemen seldom wear armbands, but forensic investigators more often (as they're often dressed in nondescript working clothes, so they need to be recognizable as belonging on the crime scene).

Just based on what we know so far it looks like all the cases will be connected and there might be even no filler case at all, so maybe case 2 leads to something worse Apollo and Athena then have to face in case 4.

Her armband says 科捜 by the way, an abbreviation of Forensic Investigation. The name is probably based on National Research Institute of Police Research in the real world (the 科学捜査研究所, AKA the 科捜研).

Luckily, I'm a big fan of AJ Ema, so I'm happy to see her back, although I must admit to preferring unhappy Ema (I thought her not being a forensic investigator was a really out of the blue dark twist, and I have a dark sense of humour). I do like the idea of contradicting video footage, as long as it's not as annoying as video footage in a certain other case... As for the only new character, he reminds me of the producer from the anime Samurai Flamenco. I guess that's just what Japanese producers look like...

True, she doesn't look THAT different at first glance, but that's because the differences are pretty subtle. As you pointed out, not too surprising since we saw her in AA4.
She does look significantly less grumpy, but that's no wonder: she's now doing the thing she's always dreamt to do. Hopes she's still partial to snackoos, though :p

I wonder if she'll be interacting with Edgeworth at all, seeing as how the last time we saw them in the same case was eight years ago. It'll be kind of interesting to see if her behavior towards him has changed at all.
