Via Hosoboso: Tsutaya has an entry for an upcoming novel, titled Gyakuten Saiban - Gyakuten no Airport (Tentative) (Ace Attorney - Turnabout Airport). The book will be released in February.

This book appears to be a sequel to last summer's Turnabout Idol. That novel was released in Kadokawa's Tsubasa Bunko line, a line for children's fiction. The author for both books is Mie Takase, who basides writing mystery and light novels, has also written several novelizations of games like Kirby and Fire Emblem.

I love Turnabout Idol by the way, and I was already hoping this would become a series, so yay!

(Turnabout Airport is not to be confused with Turnabout of the Time Traveler, another original story based on Ace Attorney, which will start serialization in Hayakawa's Mystery Magazine starting with the March issue (on sale late January))

Oh wow, what's with translations that are too similar to actual case names (Turnabout Airport/Turnabout Airlines,Turnabout of the Time Traveller/Turnabout Time Traveller)?

Either way,I actually came across a fan translation of Idol, and I quite liked it! Can't wait for this!

Blame the localizers who keep on rewriting thel titles for the cases. There's another example actually. A more accurate translation of the original title of 3-5 (Bridge to the Turnabout) should be The Magnificent Turnabout. Bridge to the Turnabout is also eerily similar to the first Ace Attorney short story, titled Turnabout Bridge.

Sheesh,coincidences everywhere!

And has anything else about this book been released yet?

Nope. Release information for these kinds of books are usually only released relatively close to the release date (Turnabout Idol too kinda appeared from nowhere). The website of the Tsubasa Bunko line itself doesn't even have it yet.

Amazon has a listing too, and the title has been changed to Gyakuten Saiban - Gyakuten Kuko, which still means Ace Attorney - Turnabout Airport (Note that I already mentioned in the opening post that Gyakuten no Airport was a tentative title). Perhaps it's written as kuko/空港, but read as the English "airport".

The summary is as follows:

Quote:
It was a comrade who was arrested!? Win the turnabout innocent verdict!!

Apollo Justice, the young hotblooded attorney of the Wright Anything Agency, is arrested!? And on suspicion of the murder of a powerful politician!? Amidst these tremendously infavorable circumstances, defense attorney Phoenix Wright keeps faith in Apollo's innocence and stand firm in the courtroom!!

It's Apollo's time to be accused of murder!

Cover art is revealed.

Another lazy copypasta job, just like the first novel in this series! I get why they don't use Kikuyaro's art, even though he/she/they do the original inside artwork (character design/insert images), as this is a children's novel line and they need to be recognizable, but still... a little bit more effort!

Ah well, this suggest Klavier will appear in this novel, at least, probably as the prosecutor who'll have to prove Apollo's guilty of murder. Heh.

That's not very nice. :(

The real question is, what is Edgeworth doing there? Trying to keep the case under wraps until it's solved sounds plauible (especially that Apollo is accused of murder of a plotician), but I have a feeling he's got more of a role than that.

In the first novel, Edgeworth was also featured on the cover, and there he just walked by Phoenix in the hallway, where they had a one minute chat or something like that.

Yeah, and he also appeared at the end to give the motive DD style. I hope they don't do that here.

These books are written for children, so the language is really, really simple, and they're not long either, so writing them, especially for a professional writer, shouldn't take that long. The book was likely commissioned after the release of Idol (which was in June), so that's max. 7 months, but that should've been plenty of time.

Finished the book in an hour or so last night, and wrote a review (seen as a mystery novel). Like the previous novel in this series, it's an easy-to-read novel aimed at a younger audience, and while the mystery plot is not overly complex, it's clear the writer knows how to write a proper mystery novel with good, structured plotting and clueing. It feels as genuine Ace Attorney novel throughout, and has some interesting things fans of the series will find funny (like the whole premise of Apollo as a defendant). So once again an amusing novel that makes you hope for more in the future.

The story is set before AA6 by the way.
