Previews for this week's Famitsu magazine are out, and reveal that the recently announced Ace Attorney Trilogy HD port for PS4, Switch, Xbox One and Steam will be featured in the upcoming issue. We'll have high definition scans of Famitsu when it's out. Furthermore, the English Ace Attorney twitter account has announced that it too will be sharing new details about the upcoming ports, likely the same as what will be shared in Famitsu.

For those in Japan, the release date of the port has been announced as February 21st and e-Capcom has also put up its limited edition versions of the game for Switch and PS4. Depending on which version you buy, it comes with a copy of the game, a soundtrack CD, a drama CD, a mini canvas art piece, a buildable Blue Badger kit and even some Steel Samurai trading cards. Additional thing to note - the PC version is mentioned as still being slated for "Spring 2019". Weird that it's not a simultaneous release.

Anyway, time for me to decide if I'm going PS4 or Switch on this... (who am I kidding, I'll get it on Switch.)

I’ve owned the gba, ds, 3ds, and iOS versions of these games, yet I have absolutely no inkling to play the ps4 or switch version. Is that strange?

...or should I be excited by amazing addition to the games of, er...nothing.
The DS version added a whole new chapter, and touch/mic controls. The 3DS and iOS versions added HD graphics. These versions,...is there something I’m missing? What’s the selling point?

Yeah, this new Trilogy port mostly seems to be aimed at drawing in new fans, not getting old fans excited. I still stand by the idea they should have offered a remixed soundtrack or something in order to both feel less dated and make this port stand out.

Honestly, it’s really unfair to the original artists to have that artwork shown on big HD TV screens. They never created it to be shown like that. It’s not like it would be a mammoth task to redraw the sprites; a team of 2 or 3 artists working full-time could redraw the entire trilogy in 3~6 months depending on their experience.

In the thumbnails they didn't look any different, but click on them and you get the full HD.

Wow, it looks like they cleaned up the lines and shading a bit compared to the previous HD sprites. It's not just another easy port.

So I signed on immediately when I heard about the drama CD that was coming with this package. It's called "Gyakuten no Saiban SHOW" and from what I've read on the official site, it's somewhat based around the Special Court skits over the years? They've written a drama behind the scenes of those skits. The madmen.

Guess it's time for me to frequent the forums once more for updates.

Actually, the drama CD is the *only* thing I'm interested in regarding this release. I am not going to buy the games again, so I hope I'll come across some way to listen to the thing one way or another.
