Apollo Justice is on its way over, and it wouldn't be right if CR didn't celebrate!

Now as many of you have already heard, much of the original Ace Attorney characters don't show up in Apollo Justice to make way for the new cast. But that doesn't mean we've forgotten them! In fact, Court Records would like to help connect the old generation to the new in a contest we're calling "Where Are They Now?"

The idea is simple: take a character or characters from the first 3 Ace Attorney games and show us what you think they're doing 7 years after T&T in as creative and humorous a way as possible. Submissions can be in the form of fanart, sprites, comics, flash, or anything else visual (sorry, no text-only submissions will be accepted). The only characters not eligible are Phoenix and Ema (since they're in GS4 and we already know what they're doing now). But you can still use them along with other characters, if you're doing a group piece.

It doesn't have to be perfect execution: your creativity matters more than your skill here. So feel free to cover us in various Hobofied characters, but keep in mind we'll be taking points off that for uniqueness.

It's all right for you to use game sprites, art, and music in your submission. It's all right to submit something you whipped up weeks ago, as long as it is your own work.

Entries will be accepted up through February 10th, and two winners will be chosen by the CR admin team to be announced on February 12th. Those two winners will both receive as prizes a free copy of Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney! Which of course means I can't get it in your hands the day of the release, but hey, it's free. Where you are in the world makes no difference on whether you can enter: as long as you have an address I can send the game to, you can win!

Submit entries to the normal Court Records email. Even if you don't want the prize, you can still submit (just let me know you're not playing for keeps). The top entries will posted when the winners are announced.

Show us what you've got, CR!

If you don't want the prize, can you nominate someone else to get it?

Eg: Yay I won, but can (so-and-so) get Apollo Justice?

Lets find ourselves in that situation before we have to deal with it.

Who will judge? Just admin-only?

And I don't think I'll be in this contest... I can make fanfiction, character-inputted songs, but nothing else...

Also, maybe it should've said "What will the non-criminal characters be doing 7 years from their final game?". Because now someone will find it possible to have criminals have jobs too.

And yes, it could happen, and it probably will.... but since P&E are also used in it, then an "AU" rule would probably suffice...

What can I say? I dislike loose ends.

I have some ideas, but must they be humorous? >_< I can't really think of many funny things right now although I might later on.

:sob:Oh noes.... at times like this we have a contest... the time when I am having a lot of commitments yet to be accomplished.....

So may I just submit whatever I had done instead? It has never been submitted as an entry for contests & I didn't post it into the Court Records Fanarts section~

Anyway... in case I win, is it permissible to just declare that I won but give the prize to another CR member whom I think deserves it most (I really want this person to have it)?

I shall note the member's name in the e-mail as I don't want anyone else to know, fearing that not winning will bring issues to us.

It's funny, just last month I had come up with a "Where Are They Now?" sort of idea for one of the characters, and was intending to write a story about it...

Guess I can draw some art to go along with it.

Question: If we're submitting sprite edits as out entry, are we allowed to send in a text explanation of the character's situation? Or do the sprites have to self explanatory?

Also, since comics are allowed, does that include sprite comics?

Edit: Second question added.

We'd like the images to be as self explanatory as possible, but they can include text as well. Sprite comics are allowed.

Only one entry per person.

I think that if you want to enter, but have already paid off the game, and in the off chance you are a prize winner, you can either A, have the game delivered to you anyways and give it to someone you want, or B say you don't want the prize and we'll give the game to the next in line.

As for official art and sprite edits, It sounds like fair game to me, just remember you're being judged by creativity and humor, poor edits likely won't get you anywhere.

I would love to have a go at this! Yea!
Um... this is a general question, as I know about as much about localisation as the fox that's currently attempting to climb a tree in my garden.
Do these prize games, on the chance an overseas contestant wins, work on European/UK Nintendo DS consoles, or only one from USA?
Thanks!

They'll work on any DS. It's region-free. :)

Also, is there a limit on entries per person, such as 1, or can one submit different scenarios for different characters?

The DS may be region free, but the Wii most assuredly isn't. So unless you've got a foreign Wii I'd hold off on importing SSBB.

Anyone anywhere can win. In our earlier contests I sent prizes to Asia and Europe etc, so as long as you have an address I can send the game to, you can win.

Only one entry is allowed for each person, but it's allowed to hold more than one character (especially if it's a group picture/comic, such as everyone joined the circus or what have you).

Erm... hypothetically, if a user had entered a recent previous contest hosted by this site and had the fortune of winning, is said user permitted to win this current contest? Hypothetically speaking, of course.
