Now, forgive me if this is in the wrong spot. It has been a few years since I lurked here and this was the first place I could think of that had people who could help me.

The following is is spoiler mode:

Spoiler: question time...
I am on day eight, investigating the barren crime scene of Duke Desmond.
I just put the cigar box together and saw the scene.
J claims to need to open the box. But, when I use the vision, my Psych Meter goes down and when I investigate, it says that I did everything already.
I am now completely lost. What am I to do now?

Any and all help would be... well... helpful.

And, again, if this is on the wrong forum, forgive me and point me in the right direction.

Jess:// Yes. I did that before I got stuck where I am.
Bad Player:// Yes. It said I needed to open it. But, it wouldn't open.

Hmm... maybe it needs a key or something? Try talking to Duke's assistant and widow, and see if they say anything. If they don't... hm...

If I recall correctly, everything relevant to that particular investigation was in, on, or related to the desk. Provided we're thinking of the same scene. I 'Think' it was the drawer that had me stopped for the longest time.

Wooster. What an honour for an admin to respond. It makes me less nervous for posting here.

It sounds like we are thinking of the same place.
So, I just have to poke the desk some more, huh?
Groovy. Thanks for the help.

Oh don't worry, both admins (Wooster and Croik... not so much Silverwind unfortunately) are quite active on this forum, and don't remain aloof never to be seen or heard. It's especially true in this part of the forum for Wooster, as he's a great fan of Cing and of their games (just like me).
That's one of the things I love about this forum, you don't see that kind of thing very often actually (only in small communities, but CR has grown quite large over the past few years).

Yep. You'll see me most often in WHAT A?!, Court Docket, and Trial Minutes. I'll periodically poke my head in Police Station, if there's a game I'm currently following. tenshi_no_kioku, you just happen to run into my HQ, as it were. But where I'm active, I'm quite active.

The rest of the boards, I'm quite scarce if I show up even at all. I'm not really a policeman, so it's not in my specific interest to visit all the boards and topics. (I can only stomach so many pairing threads and "Meme or MEME" before I have to run to the bathroom). I'm much more interested in the forum up keep as far as theming and some modifications go.

*High Fives L~A for mutual CiNG fandomyness*
Actually, L~A, are you ever on IM? I think it'd be cool to chat live once in a while. Check my profile for the accounts and protocols I use if you're interested.

But back to your original question about that investigation... I 'THINK' it was...
Spoiler: Eye of Providence Hot Spots?
The Desk itself?
The Drawer?
The Box in the Drawer?

I'm currently leaning more to the Desk itself and the Box.
The bullet hole by the door is a red herring.

Have you found the answer yet? Because I did that puzzle yesterday, so I can help you now, and since it's pretty fresh in my mind, I can explain what you need to do :)

Spoiler:
So, when you get the box, you're supposed to put it on the desk's drawer, and then just click on it. If everything goes well, it should start a puzzle, where you have to put the pieces inside the box in the right place. If you don't, maybe that's because you don't know why that box is special. If you don't know why this box is so special, then maybe that's why nothing's happening, because something must be happen right now. Go back and talk with Duke's assistant. Actually, I did that before going to talk with his wife.

If it doesn't work, well... I really don't know. Because everything should work if you've got the box AND talked with Duke's assistant.

If you've already managed to find the solution, at least, it will be useful for another player who might get stuck at the same place :)

Wooster://
Spoiler: ...
Desk: Clicked it several times already.
Drawer: I don't think I tried it while it was open, but I think it just closes the drawer.
Box: It says that I did everything to it or something like that.

I consider myself lucky, then!

L~A:// I'm used to non-existant admins. It's why I came here for my help, and didn't post on my home base of Gaia Online.
Spoiler: ...
I did do that puzzle, or rather, my sister did.
I went to both the wife and the assistant. I can't talk to any of them, as the option is blackened out.

Hey, if I find the answer somewhere or figure it out myself, I'll gladly post it here.
Of course, this area is still being a bother.... :sadshoe:

By tapping do you mean, trigger the eye of Providence, or tap as in what's this item?

Okay, you probably did do this, but this is the only thing I can think of that you haven't explicitly stated that you've done...
Spoiler:
Have you used the box on the desk drawer? xD

Spoiler:
But to do the puzzle, you need to put the box on the desk drawer... and besides, you should have a vision once you've done the said puzzle... so I really don't know what's the problem here... maybe he didn't have the first vision? (by 'Eyeing' the desk :p)

Well, this area really shouldn't be a bother at all... :)
I'm sure you've just forgotten to do something very very obvious, that's why you're stuck, and I don't understand why xD (I do that quite often myself).

L~A:// Hey! That worked!
Spoiler: As promised
I didn't think to use the vision on the desk itself! That should have been the first thing I tried!

It was an obvious answer, too.
Oh well. That's why I came here, right? :edgy:

I need a little more help now, guys.

Spoiler: Oh dear.
Now I'm chasing down Providence in the abandoned warehouse. I'm trying to get the object out of the grate and need to use the gas burner. What parts on the grate do need to burn?

Sadly, there is no save point. If I shut off now, I need to start from a much eariler point.

[EDIT]
Never mind.
My sister got it, but can't remember what she did.

I was sure you were gonna get stuck at this particular puzzle, which I personally find a little illogical;

Spoiler:
I mean, there are different parts of the grate you could burn, or else... who wouldn't have just stomped the hell out of the grate? Since it was sooo rusted, I don't think it would have resisted very long...

Spoiler:
But he 'did' stomp the hell out of it. There were just three points where stomping wouldn't get him anywhere anytime soon. But plot points aside, the only reason that puzzle was difficult was due to poor lighting.

If you don't mind me reviving this topic...

Spoiler:
I'm in the Professor's office and I have no idea what to do. I've visioned the computer and the box, I've put the books back on the shelf in order, but I don't know what to do with the globe or the computer's password.

Edit: Never mind. I'm just not perceptive.

Nah, I also had a problem with that very puzzle... did everything that was to be done,

Spoiler:
but I couldn't see that damn code on the books...

I looked up the solution on the internet, though I had basically solved the puzzle... Mind you, the password wasn't really original, was it? :D
