Umm, someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think you can. They're not like PW images, so ripping them doesn't work.

Or something.

I don't know of an emulator that can play the game properly, so capping them might not be possible at this point. It's possible to extract them from the rom, but they're in a format that I don't know how to convert. Right now the only sprites available are the ones on the official website.

I've actually found that DeSmuME can play both Hotel Dusk and Last Window. ZSlyzer is currently uploading videos from Last Window (Example of the first part here), but I'm unsure as to whether or not he's using DeSmuME.

However, through my own experiments with the layer select tool, I can remove the text spoken by the characters, but not the text boxes or backgrounds; so I don't think we could extract sprites that way.

Thank you everyone for your answers. :hyde:

Well, I know there is a debug mode (you can see it on one of the Japanese "making-of" videos) but it's anyone's guess as to if it's accessible or even still in the game.

Yeah, Bolt Storm's right. It may have been left in for some reason, but it's improbable that it's accessible...

Also, there was a debug mode for Hotel Dusk?

Yeah, it turns out there was! It seems the code for it only works in the EU version, I'm in it right now seeing if I can grab the sprites without text.

EDIT: Well, there's an animation test, but it's got backgrounds on it.

Excellent! I suppose that's better than nothing. I'm sure that with Photoshop and a Rosa Fox Sized portion of patience, one might be able to nab a few animations!

Here's one of Dunning.

I couldn't individually cap the "entrance" animation to this sprite, because text and text boxes were in the way.

Also, there are a few leftover bits of backgrounds around the edges, which I could remove were I to redo it.
