According to Wikipedia's Last Window article, a third game in the Kyle Hyde saga is being made by Level-5. There's no source for that so I'm suspicious, but has anyone else heard of this? I'd die happy if this turned out to be true.

"Citation needed" inDEED. I won't be able to sleep at night until I know whether this is true or not. If it is true, I wonder if Level-5 would be at all interested in doing that crossover with Trace Memory that was once raised as a possibility in an interview. For that matter, it would be great if they could get some of the original staff to work on it, particularly the composer, Satoshi Okubo. I would only hope that they actually craft a good story and awesome dialogue again (I was not very impressed with Last Window, at least in comparison with the original).

But of course, right now it's just a wild pipe dream unless we get any real confirmation. :sadshoe:

EDIT: As I am reminded that Level-5 Vision begins soon, this would be the best effing surprise announcement EVER.

I don't think it's true. At best it's someone's hopeful wishing.

But man, eating my own words would be the most delectable thing on earth.

I can tell you the article edit was not made by a registered Wikipedia member, and it's the only edit they've ever done.

Considering CiNG's state, I'm not mad. False hope, no matter how incredible, was a nice change of pace.

It would have been impossible for Level-5 to have bought the rights for the 'Kyle Hyde' series, since those very rights are owned by Nintendo.... and if Level-5 had bought some rights from Nintendo, you could be sure we'd have heard about it. Besides, I don't think they 'Kylde Hyde' series is that juicy a series (aka: not a multimillion selling franchise, like Layton for example), so I doubt Level-5 would've bothered.

My most wishful thinking is that some Cing employees got a job at Nintendo... which would've been a better bargain for Nintendo than buying a company with a 2.3 million debt. Then again, that's wishful thinking.

Anyway, I don't think we'll hear about any of the Cing franchise ever again. Sad, but hey, we'll have to get used to it... :sadshoe:

I remember there was wishful thinking that Nintendo would buy CiNG, but I don't know that Nintendo owns any of the properties. Mind, Capcom publishes Professor Layton and Brain training, but certainly does not own either franchise.

Pretty simple: in the credits for Last Window (most recent example), it does say 'All rights reserved by Nintendo and Cing'.
Actually, it's even worse with Another Code: R, as they do not even mention Cing, it just says 'All rights reserved by Nintendo'.

If Cing actually owned the right for the series, they would be mentionned on the Another Code: R booklet, and Nintendo wouldn't be mentioned in the copyright for Last Window either if they didn't own at least part of the rights (at best, we might have something like 'licensed to and published by Nintendo', like 999). For example, I doubt there's written 'All rights reserved by Level 5 and Nintendo' in the Layton game, right? I can't say, since I don't own any Layton game, but I never saw a mere publisher getting a mention in the copyright section of any game they did not publishe (aka different from the developer).

I don't have any definite proof they own the said rights, but all copyright details seems to indicate they actually do.

And you can't compare Cing games with Layton for example, because Nintendo only publishes the game in NA/Europe, not in Japan. Whereas for Cing games, Nintendo does publish it in all territories.

Of course you remember it... it was mine :p

@post above mine: he meant 'Nintendo', not 'Capcom' ;)

That's because Cing wasn't a company outside of Japan, so Nintendo had no reason to include them in the localized credits except as a developer. Plus, they weren't a large enough company to be able to publish the games on their own. Nintendo did/does own all the rights to publish the game. But as far as we're aware, they don't have the rights to make more of them.
