Wait, no. AAI3 doesn't revolve around Edgeworth at all. It's actually all about Kay. She found the other two spunky teenage girls to make the Yatagarasu.

Hey, I'd play it.

Spoiler: GK2
She finds them at the end of GK2; Edgeworth and Gumshoe

Spoiler: I haven't finished AAI2
Huh. Didn't see that one coming. I thoight that would be too illegal for Edgeworth...

Spoiler: haven't finished it either
So assuming that Edgeworth and Gumshoe turns her down, I want to see what would happen if Kay actually does find two partners to rebuild the Yatagarasu. Does it turn out like she hoped and the Yatagarasu becomes successful? Does reality strike and it utterly fails? Does it work at first but then they lose sight of their good intentions? I'm personally hoping for the second one.

I don't know. Are we to assume that Kay is just going to investigate with Edgeworth for the rest of her life? I mean, older Maya has her life set as Master, Trucy is going to be the next big Gramarye, older Ema got a harsh reality check...makes me wonder what older Kay would be like. It's something that I'm not curious enough to want to see

Is GK3 destined to be named as some sort of sim? First, the management sim with Chief Prosecutor Edgeworth, and now this. Before we know it, it's going to become an action game too with an interactive cutscene of Gumshoe in hot pursuit of a criminal... on the freeway. Dang, now it's a racing game too.

On that thought, an interactive cutscene would be an interesting take on this game. Investigations thus far have been pretty static regarding the level of interactivity. It's just poking around places and pressing A. The GK games at least have brought in directional movement. They could bring in much more.

On second thought, you bring up a good point. At the time when Klavier had just uncovered a defense attorney's "forgery", he must have been putting on a rather stuck-up attitude. And it'd only be appropriate that Edgeworth tells it to him straight after defeating him in a confrontation. It's definitely something the GK team could retcon in to expand on Klavier's change of character... or something akin to it.

As for Ema, I don't think she would have met him yet. I've always pictured her attitude toward Klavier as a rather superficial impression of him.

You know here is something I am still wondering, will GK3 use the Dual Destinies engine? Or will it rely more on the 2D style from the first 2 games? Also I would like to see Justine and Raymond come back in some way shape or form. I would probably die laughing seeing a conversation between Justine and The Judge.

I'd say... 3D. PLvsAA and Dual Destinies were just the beginning. The later games in this series are most certainly going to have 3D aspects to them.

Besides, aren't we hyped for 3D investigations? They were lovely in DD. They'll be even more so in GK3 since we'll be on scene all the time. still waiting on a game that features Missile as playable

Yeah but with the nature of the Investigation series it makes me wonder how it will work on the 3DS hardware, I mean it worked in Dual Destinies and Layton vs Wright because we didn't have 3D models for each character moving around everywhere it was more of a simple point and click movement. That being said it just makes me think that GK3 would be a Wii U title because I think the hardware would be able to handle the scope the game would be going for, unless they keep the 2D sprite animations for investigating and switch over to 3D during confrontations and things of the like? Idk I guess this is just one of those games that will be better if I see it first than trying to imagine it.

While I don't expect it to become like that, I'd love to see an GK game with investigation segments in freeroaming 3D. GS4 had some neat parts where spatial awareness was of importance (see also GS5-3 for example where a certain camera point shift shows the relative positions of two locations) and had actually hoped more stories would make use of that.

Well, I don't ask for a wall-climbing Edgeworth, and certainly don't claim that 3D is always better, but I do think that such an approach could make certain type of detective plots better presentable and as the AAI games feature more spatial exploration / awareness anyway...

Kinda surprised to see SFA thrown in as an example. Can almost imagine Edgeworth's dog being used as a usable sidekick. Complete with annoying voice.

And random car-driving segments between locations that feel horribly out of place, but yet more fun than the main game.

And the final confrontation is also a driving segment. Just to mess with the player, because it would make too much sense if the boss segment gameplay would be the same as the main gameplay.

I just had an idea. What if this game has Quick-Time Events? I'm not a fan of QTE's scattered all over a game, but when used sparingly, they can add a little life to scenes.

Heck, it'd be the perfect way to give Kay a useful role for once, aside from Little Thief. In a short interactive cutscene, we get to stalk a suspicious witness and eavesdrop on a meeting. We'll need to avoid being caught by timing when it's best to hop in closer for a listen. Yeah, it's not a tactic Edgeworth would approve of, but Kay would work better alone in this situation anyway. About time she put her skills as a Great Thief to use.

I thought about applying the same concept to cross-examinations / confrontations, but on second thought, (1) we already have Perceive which works just like that and (2) it shares a little too much with Dangan Ronpa's trial game play. Not to mention, it's a mechanic that works better with live pursuits. Get 'em, Missile!

Seriously, Missile would be perfect for the role. He runs pretty fast and leaps pretty far. I can liken his movements to Ameterasu's in Okami, but of course without the magic spells and such. Instead, he gets to plant tracking devices along his way to form the trail of a fleeing suspect, for example.

"Missile the Dog: Detective Dangers" coming to the 3DS and WiiU when available.

My newly-founded dislike of how Kay is written in the spin-off makes me want a final case in which Kay is the culprit. Perhaps someone got accidentally killed on Great Thief's mission or something like that.

Were it to happen, I would've liked for it to be handled without a personality change, so she could've tried to mislead Edgeworth's investigation to hide the truth about what she did most likely trying to create "the killer could be anyone"or "the death was complete accident" scenario, but... once accused, I can't imagine her going up against Edgeworth, so maybe someone could defend her, unwilling to believe she's the killer. Gumshoe or Ema, perhaps?

I think, if GK3 ends up being made then they should make investigations in 3D but make 3D models for the dialogues and seperate, less detailed ones, when you're investigating. That way they can keep it running without the framerate being killed.

Or maybe they should make it for Wii U, but I doubt that wouldn't cause a fan-riot because the franchise has been on Nintendo handhelds only so far.

Yeah with the new direction it seems like GK3 would HAVE to come to Wii U if they go all out with the 3D. Unless the 3DS has more horse power than we think.

You can clearly tell there's been a tremendous amount of optimization to get Dual Destinies running on it with the graphical fidelity it has, and even then it's not like it runs all that smooth. With 3D on there's clearly some framerate stuttering and even without it the framerate is a bit below 30fps during courtroom segments.

I think it can be optimized even further but they can't have the detailed 3D characters DD has, and have them move around in a 3D space if there were to be 10+ characters on screen at a time which is a tradition for GK. It simply won't be possible unless they make zoomed-out versions of the 3D models that have fewer polygons or something.

Hah don't tell that to my one friend, he thinks Dual Destinies should have came to the Vita, hes only played Ace Attorney on iPhones and won't play it on DS or 3DS. But yeah...unless they break down each investigation area into sections have maybe 2-4 3D models in it at a time? I mean I am sure there is a way to get this to work...

Yup, it definitely can work in 3D, as long as they lessen the details on the characters which won't be noticable anyway since the 3DS has a low screen resolution and it will most likely be zoomed out. (just compare the HD footage of Dual Destinies in the promo videos and compare it to the final game. You barely even notice the cartoony edge-outlines because the graphics are "crammed down")

Actually, it wouldn't be a bad idea to have the game starring Phoenix right after his disbarment. Think of it like "Ace Attorney Investigations: Phoenix Wright." He could switch between Young Trucy and Maya as partners (plus, it would really cool to see Maya's immediate reaction to Phoenix getting a daughter. I can already imagine the dialogue). His rival could be someone who (rightfully) sees Phoenix as an embarrassment to the court system. It would also be nice to see people's reaction to Phoenix's disbarment like Edgeworth or Gumshoe

Also, the game could start or end with this comic strip

It might not work as a full game but it could be a cool bonus case if they ever re-release AJ, kind of like RftA

As long as it means they deal with the mess that they made in a respectful manner, and not just keep inserting pre-disbarment episodes up until the last week of April 2019, I would totally get behind this.

How would you react if GK3, like GS5 is about three protagonists? It could be Edgeworth, Franziska and Klavier.

It would depend on how well it's handled in all honesty (though I think I'd prefer Yumihiko over Klavier. That could get the tutorial case out of the way). Not a bad idea, though. It has me intrigued

Just imagine Franziska and Yumi as investigation partners. Hell, Franziska and Shigaraki doesn't sound like a bad idea either. If Klavier is playable, though, I'd love to see a young Klavier and young Ema on their first case together. It would be cool to see an investigation duo with complete animosity towards each other

Having an entire case as Klavier with Ema as your assistant would be the best kind of fanservice ever. That needs to happen! I also agree, Yumihiko should be playable as well, but I'd rather have him than Franziska then.
