Some time ago, some of you may remember me posting a video, then a full-featured short game, made in Flash. This is an engine I call Flash Attorney. I hoped for it to be overall simpler to use than other case makers, with a simple command such as: Speak("Hi, guys!") As I developed it, I started to realize that it was becoming unavoidable that people adding any form of content such as characters or even evidence would need a good understanding of the ActionScript behind it all. I had planned to release this in source code form anyway, so here goes:
The bad news:
I'm dropping the Flash Attorney project as is. As you can see from
Turnabout Sparta, it's capable of conducting full testimonies, and if you look at the Actionscript keyframes, doing basic stuff doesn't require much. However, despite the slightly broken state of the rest of the code, I'm afraid I won't be providing too much support for it. I may provide brief explanations of, say, how to add a character, but most of the code is presented as-is. I have the beginnings of a sample case in the source code. To start your own, delete all the keyframes, then GL, HF.
The good news:
I've transferred/restarted the project to XNA. I've really only started work, and so you're not likely to see much for many months, but just know that I'm not "giving up" due to workload. Just switching to a different, more viable interface.
Click to download Flash Attorney source (requires Flash CS3)As for licensing-type things: If you do create a case using this code as a base, I will require that you accredit me with the engine. If it's a short, one-to-two testimony type thing, just mentioning me in the thread is fine. Ace Attorney teaches us not to be loophole-finding jacks<boing>es, so I'm not about to sue anyone.
I'm gone for so long, and the colors got all psychedelic! Woohoo!
