Spoiler: Again, another One of My Speculations. YAY!
I don't know but to me, it seems too obvious that Strings is the mastermind of the operation. And in Ace Attorney, that never happens. So I personally think something absolutely AMAZING happens. Which means that either the Death of Someone (either Strings or Erlenmeyer) occurs, OR we learn that Fisher was lying and that Erlenmeyer actually is ALREADY DEAD and that someone (like Meekins, Fisher, or (yes I did say this) Rhea.) killed them. I personally think it is the former that will happen and that OR another character is introduced in the end and turns out to be the killer. Or it could be Poole that master minded the entire Operation and has some sort of secret motive to want to kill Udgey. (like Udgey ending the relationship in some sort of way that she didn't like or that Udgey was being rude (i dunno)) Anyways. That's my CRAZY idea. If any of them are right please tell me. I wanna know. (after all these ideas are ALL crazy in their own way...)

Spoiler: Theories!
The Judge refused the request for drinks because he had other business... I am almost certain that this business will have something to do with the next part. Personally, I think he's leading himself into another trap again.

By the way, wouldn't it be funny, if when they get to the office, they see ...what's his name (the serial killer) there murdered and you have to defend Paul Strings? hahaha. That would be funny.

Also, I can't wait to use the cellphone to contact people. I'll be annoying Trucy all the time and I will give her drunken calls. :D

Wow. Didn't think I'd get that many answers this fast Oo
I'm really glad you could play the game from start to finish, I feared I might have caused some terrible bug when updating the game after the beta testers' reports :)

Now, I'm going to try to answer at least some of the posts...

Bad Player's first post > The Udgey sprite is the result of a collaboration between Ceres and Glace Leau, so it had to be awesome ^^
Let's not forget that this is a teamwork, and the team involved (that includes a certain writer) is incredibly talented.

As for the problem with tab, I'm afraid I have no idea. I'll have to ask saluk.

kwando's first post >
Spoiler: the demo part 2
I thought many people would assume he was his brother by looking at the sprites, but it's even better if some of you hadn't figured it out. To be honest, in my opinion, it's the weakest twist in the case. Still a fun one though.

Brawldud's second post > Congrats on becoming Medium-in-training!
Now...
Spoiler: your guess
Well, obviously, things aren't going to go as planned. Regarding the Judge's secret, it is indeed relevant to the plot, though not in the way you would expect.

kwando's second post >
Spoiler: your guess
It is heavily implied that the one on the phone is Fisher: look at the use of "freakin", for instance. But he wasn't blackmailing Strings : he was asking for payment.

Ceres > I certainly love that feeling as well =)

kwando's third post >
Spoiler: 1st and 2nd part
As Bad Player said, Apollo does realize it's Fisher in the end. It just didn't occur to him when he first met him: even if the voices were similar, it wouldn't have made any sense in his head at the time. Also, I don't think it's strange for Fisher to admit he did it so fast. At this point, he has lost all credibility because of his testimony and has no proof to counterattack. There's no way he can prove he's innocent... by denying he's responsible, he would only risk a bigger sentence. Admitting to the crime and making a deal with the prosecution is the smartest move to make in that situation... even if he's uneducated, Fisher is far from stupid.

kwando's fourth post >
Spoiler: the other speculation
You're right in that something amazing needs to happen, or there is no case. No conflict, no plot.

SaraVera >
Spoiler: your theories
I love your ideas. About the cellphone, you won't need it to complete the game, but I'll make sure to include some nice Easter eggs in the conversations.

It would be funny if you DID need it to complete the game... :karma:

Spoiler: Suggestions
There could be a few parts in the story where we change to Phoenix's viewpoint, in Borginia with Trucy (and Thalassa...?) and a few people are still talking about the incident with the Gavinners... it would add a nice touch or so in my opinion.

Brawldud > Well, the first release was kind of a flop, so I really wasn't expecting too much.

Of course, the more people play this game, the more I will be motivated to finish it.

The second day of investigation could take long to complete: I have all the ideas, but the detailed script isn't written yet, and I don't have any of the backgrounds needed. That's right, not even one. Still, I'll find a way to have it done as soon as possible. If the writers are in top form and I get lucky with the backgrounds / evidence, we could be talking about a September-October release. I'm particularly counting on my holiday, that is to say August, to make significant progress.
Once it's released, the last day of trial should take only two to three months to make: the script is already much more polished than that of the second investigation, and there is no need for new backgrounds, so you might be able to play trial day 2 as soon as Christmas.
After that, there will be several rereleases to improve on the dialogue (more possible conversations when you present something in the investigation, for example) / graphics / script. Then I might start working on another similar project with Phoenix as the main character, but this is all conditional.

As for your suggestion...
Spoiler: suggestion
It would be a nice idea if Phoenix actually played an important part in the plot, but it's not the case. This is meant to be Apollo's case, the first case he has to solve on his own... The phone will mostly be a way to explore Apollo's personality by making him interact with his family as a human being, not as an attorney.

Were the backgrounds actually created by Ceres, or were they edited versions of pictures/ visual novel backgrounds?
Either way, it'll take a while.

By the way, how many new characters should we be expecting to appear in the next installment?

Regarding your second question... it may sound strange, but it depends.
Spoiler: number of new characters
In the strict sense, there will be three of them. In a broader sense, you can say there will be six. Oh, and eight if you count Trucy and Thalassa.

Oh right, Ping get on msn, still need to give you a few things

Edit: Ok I just checked the animations you send me, Who is responsible for animating the base sprites? Most of them are terrible. (apart from The judge, I loved the detail there <3)
Like Strings and Fischer for example. Sorry If I offend anyone here, I don't know who made them. (apart from the base sprites :p )
Pool looks okay, Apart from being heavily pixelated ( yes, I know, a sprite is pixels, you know what i mean)

Don't know who made 'em, but I'm gonna have a go at 'em.
Using my original base sprites ofcourse, so don't come crying for credit. XD

Phew, perhaps that sounded more meaner then intended.

It's usually easy to figure it out by process of elimination, not easily figuring out every about the crime. (At least in my experience.)

Anyway, these people don't even know the crime Part II is necessarily about, so it's a bit difficult to choose a killer :keiko:

Ceres > Sketchinmaster is the one, except for the Judge which was finished by Glace Leau (and is simply brilliant), still animated by him though. I think he's doing a fine job so far, I like his Poole. You need to keep in mind that most of it was not meant to be the final version, and was done pretty quickly... Especially the poses that are not "normal", which weren't used in the second demo because they were not completely ready / needed yet.
If you can correct some of them, I'd be extremely grateful, of course ^^ Your professionalism is unmatched here. However, as I said, if you do some animations, it needs to be sprite sheets like the files I sent you, or it won't work on PyWright.
But really, thank you so much for still wanting to help despite having so many other things to do. It's extremely difficult to find people who have the time to make graphic edits, and I can't blame anyone for being busy, knowing how busy I am myself.

MrCheeze >
Spoiler: demo 2
It will be less obvious than most AA cases. It'll be more like 4-1 or 3-5, you'll find out who the criminal (who said it would be a killer? No one talked about a murder, as far as I know) is during the trial, not before.

Alright, I just finished my final exams and I have one week of free time ahead of me, so I'm going to start working on the script for investigation day 2.

About the demo...
Those who played it talked a lot about the plot and what they were expecting to happen next.
But what about the characters (both the new ones and those introduced in the first demo) ? What do you think of them, how do you think they will develop...

Lol , my first post and it would of all the topics this topic..But back to business.
Spoiler:
I'm expecting to see an emotional side from Rhea..Since her brother died and it's quite personal case to her.But also I want know more about J.Poole because in the demo they didn't give much information about her either except her traumas and that she was Judge's lover.Apollo's shown to have grown since he doesn't whine as much as he did in AJ:AA but I want to know also more about her and Rhea's relationship since your game really makes me think it could have inputted to AJ:AA atleast the demo does.

Can't say if it's spoilerish but you can never be too sure but yeah good work Ping!
If I've got bad grammaring you can also say that to me.

I think Strings, Erlenmeyer and Fisher will evade the police and each try to live out their livelong dream before they die, of being a piece of twine, being a glass tube, and catching sealife, respectively.

Spoiler: Characters...
Hmm. Contrary to what Revo said, I think the demo was a little too forthcoming with backstory from Jessica (?) Poole. Normally, the GS team would wait for the end to explain the prosecutor's back story but before we even SAW Jessica Poole we were told her entire life story. Same with Rhea actually, when you first meet her, she tells you all these sorts of things and I'm just like "Wha-? Already?" I'm not sure if you were intending to tell these things so easily, but when they do... to me it seems a little... insincere? I have a feeling that if you ask Ms. Poole about her life story, she'd completely disregard whatever the judge said.

As for character developement, I'm wanting to see a little more of Ms. Poole's manipulativeness, the beginning of the court scene showed this very well, however throughout the play through I felt as though she wasn't standing enough out as her own, which is very unfortunate. I'd rather have her to be so manipulative, so charming, so cunning that it's actually scary to even think that you'd have to try against her. I hope we get to see more of that in the next court demo...

As for other characters, I can't really think of anything at the moment, however, I think it's pretty obvious Erlenmeyer didn't actually commit those serial killings. But he had to know details of them right? Well, it can't go without mention that it's very likely he was told all this. Maybe... Paul Strings was the serial killer? I don't really have anything to back myself up on that, but the music sheets signed Darwin remind me of something than an... elightened mad man would do.

By the way, uhh... next court thing, will you have Rhea's court sprite up? Because for a minute I was thinking G. Strings was talking to himself:
"WHAT IS THIS?"
"The defense would like to ask for one LAST testimony"
"Hm... well ok "
(For a second I was laughing my ass off thinking that he was trying to make it more interesting and just pretended to mimic their voices. But then Ms. Poole started trash-talking herself in the third person, so I started guessing that Rhea was actually speaking)

Hmm. Contrary to what Revo said, I think the demo was a little too forthcoming with backstory from Jessica (?) Poole. Normally, the GS team would wait for the end to explain the prosecutor's back story but before we even SAW Jessica Poole we were told her entire life story.
> So do I, actually. But it was not my intent to have Judge serve as Mr. Exposition for Poole's backstory. His account is unreliable, he's offering us an idealized (yet bitter) vision of her life. The particular emotions he feels for her are what prevent him from just being the character who tells you "oh, and her family was killed by the mob. Poor thing, really...". It may be just a nuance, but it bears some significance to the story.

Same with Rhea actually, when you first meet her, she tells you all these sorts of things and I'm just like "Wha-? Already?" I'm not sure if you were intending to tell these things so easily, but when they do... to me it seems a little... insincere?
> In fact, it was entirely intentional. Every single character has a secret. As always, you can't see their Psyche-Locks, but if you could, there would be plenty of them for each.

I have a feeling that if you ask Ms. Poole about her life story, she'd completely disregard whatever the judge said.
> Possibly =)

As for character developement, I'm wanting to see a little more of Ms. Poole's manipulativeness, the beginning of the court scene showed this very well, however throughout the play through I felt as though she wasn't standing enough out as her own, which is very unfortunate.
> Well, her defining trait in court is her penchant for biting sarcasm. The only problem is, if you're good, you don't get to see it much, as you don't get penalties. You can see them in the script if you're interested, though. Bad Player did a great job with them.

I'd rather have her to be so manipulative, so charming, so cunning that it's actually scary to even think that you'd have to try against her. I hope we get to see more of that in the next court demo...
> I personally wouldn't call her "manipulative". Judge does, but he has his reasons. It's just not the character she is. So I'm afraid the next court demo might disappoint you in that regard.

> Ah. Erlenmeyer. Everyone talks about him, but you haven't even seen him yet.... He's the big question mark for the next demo.
The clues left at the crime scenes are indeed important, but that's all I can tell.

> What do you mean? You're supposed to see Rhea's sprite in court, though it's the same as in the investigation for now. You didn't even see her sprite with the defense aide background once? If that's the case, I don't understand. It works on my computer, and I uploaded all the necessary files...

Also, what about G.Strings?

Also, what about G.Strings?

Spoiler: Court Sprites
WHATT? Apollo, Poole and the Judge were just saying her lines for me. I had fun guessing when it was her. It was like she was a spirit taking over everyone's minds in the courtroom MIA?!?
But I never got her court sprite, let me check over the data, maybe I can find it?

As for G. Strings... if HE turns out to be the culprit behind the whole thing that I will salute you, because I will never see it coming. He's a very entertaining character it's almost difficult to believe he is the son of Paul Strings, which makes me feel that he'd hiding his true personality. I have a strong feeling he's going to be connected to many incidents (which is obvious, considering his relations to certain characters) and that his "alternate character" (if it exists) will show through at certain points in the trial. Also, perhaps G. Strings will show some sort of relationship with Chambers?

I'll edit this in the morning with more theories, actually...

Mmm... interesting.
Has anyone else who played the demo had trouble seeing Rhea's sprite?
What I did so she would appear in court scenes is:
1) implement Brawldud's "helper" in "court.mcro" (the original court macro only has the judge, defense attorney, witness and prosecutor)
2) "set _helper Rhea" in each court scene (and there is indeed a character called Rhea in ts_demo2/art/port)
3) call "helper" each time she needs to talk.
And it works on my computer.
So what could have gone wrong?

Your theories are extremely helpful, by the way. The more theories I get, the more I can play with the players' expectations.

Speaking of which, the opening court scene was hilarious.

Spoiler: Opening Courtroom Scene
Strings: H-Hello, everybody! Sorry I'm late... I-I initially walked into the wrong room...
Poole: And how do you know this is the right one?
Strings: Th-This is Courtroom 4, right...?
Poole: Is it?
-Strings runs out of the room to check the courtroom number-
Strings: Yes, it is!
Poole: Are you sure that the sign you read corresponded to this courtroom?
-Strings runs out of the room to check the sign-
Strings: Yes, I am!
Poole Are you sure this is the correct date?
-Strings runs out of room-
Apollo: ...
Poole: ...
-comes back-
Strings: Yes, it definitely is!
Poole: And are you sure this is the right time?
Strings: Of course! I have a watch, y'know.
Poole: Is your watch working?
Strings: Gah! I've gotta go--
HOLD IT!
Apollo: I think this is the right courtroom, Your Honor. She's just messing with you.
Strings: WHAT? Is this true?!
Poole: You were here when it happened. Is it?
Strings: Gr... penalties for the both of you!

LULZ. But it's funnier when you see it in game.

G strings!?

What a great character! Silly and weird but in a totally different way from judge chambers. And the name is a nice pun :)

Yes, I have noticed the problem with pressing tab. Sometimes only tab works, and sometimes only the button works, but they never both work. Not sure what is going on there. Other buttons randomly don't seem to work either. I wish I would have had time to beta this before release, but oh well. A hotfix will come soon...

This case is really good so far, I haven't completed demo 2 yet. It feels like it could be an official case though!

Well, if it's any help for the bugtesting or whatever, the button always worked and the tab never worked, and all the other keys worked perfectly. (This is only for the court phase, tho; that was the only part I played xD I mean, I played the investiation before, but I don't remember that stuff)
