Well... This first post would be a long one I guess..



After a successful guilty verdict of Dahlia Hawthorne and proving Phoenix Wright's innocence, Mia Fey is as confident as ever, almost forgetting the events of her debut trial. Gaining a whole new perspective on what it realy means to be a Defense Attorney, she took on multiple cases with burning desire of protecting the innocent.

But a string of seemingly "impossible" and "unrelated" murders leads her to a torrent of truths, lies and plots that will eventually puts her in a risky choice, and eventually giving her a very concrete philosophy of "trusting the client, no matter what".

A Prosecutor that will do anything to achieve "Absolute Perfection" that his enstranged father will never achieve, and will do absolutely anything to get it.

An aspiring detective with a knack for the strange and occult. A complete opposite of his grandad's hard-boiled ways.

A conspiracy that put countries on a brink of war.

An evil mind that will silence anything that crosses his ideals.

Hear the voice of the departed. Hear the "truths" behind their whispers! Destroy the shackles of secrets and open the door to salvation!

Will she bow down to the cirumstances, or will she stand for what she believes in for a big gamble? But no matter what, she will turn the case around!

Once again, the Goddess has arrived!




I currently working on possibly a fangame (of sorts, I still need to study a lot of things) that features Mia Fey. Well,this is more of like a pitch for a game (and also a new in-game system) so I'm still open for suggestion (which is the reason why I actually posted this early)

Why Mia Fey? Well, I just noticed that her storyline isn't really given really any emphasis, most probably on the fact that she died on the first PW game, despite her flashback trial in PW:TAT. But then, there's still a broad untapped timeline has been left between the time she solved Nick's case and her establishing Fey and Co. Law Offices with Phoenix. So I thought of writing a few pieces about it.

I'm actually still on planning stages, but I already written rough ideas about Cases 1 and 2 (Case 1 being a tutorial). I am also proposing a new (or well, depends on your judgement) in-game system which I'm not really sure if I can pull off with current game engines but still hoping.

Channeling:
[As a member and supposed to be successor of the Kurain Channeling Technique before Maya, Mia can also channel victims and hear "Truth Points". But with lack of training since she decided to be a lawyer, she could only do it in a limited time. Doing it excessively would give the spirit channeled a chance to take over completely her body, or the spirit losing interest to her.

She apparently only uses this whenever she feels that she is stuck in a slump with an investigation or a cross examination.

By touching her Magatama and focusing, Mia would hear pieces of words whispered by the victim's spirit, called "Truth Points". She needs to choose the word that would best suit to her theory or contradicts to what's been testified. Sometimes, it will give her a hint on where to look on an investigation, what statement to press and what evidence should be presented. It is essentially a "Hint System" as her partner detective would say, similar to some video games.

She would feel a slight "jolt" whenever Channeling needs to be used. She would then enter "Trance Mode".

A gauge with 5 Magatamas would determine how many times she can use Channeling. If a wrong Truth Point is chosen, the channeled spirit will grow suspicious of her, thus one Magatama is taken out. If she chose the right Truth Point, the spirit would trust her more, giving her one Magatama. If all Magatamas are out, the spirit will either leave for good out of disinterest, never to be called again, or take over her body, exacting revenge on the suspects.]

Pretty much what I can only reveal for now is:
-Events took place after Phoenix and Dahlia's trial
-Slight mentions/relations to places and people of Ace Attorney Investigations
-Nick is playable as a partner
-Psyche-Locks (most probably the first usage in the entire series chronologically) and other thingamajigs are usable
-Young Maya might appear, Grossberg is also in.
-Huge scale conspiracies (and I mean huge)

So, I'm really open to suggestions and comments before I actually start writing the script and the rest of the cases. I can openly say that I will release a demo for Case 1 (since it is really a tutorial case, but will provide pretty much the whole gist of the game). So, just post away!

(PS: Is "Goddess Of Justice/Innocence" better for a title? :yuusaku: )

PROGRESS REPORT:

I'm working on Case 1 (which will be clearly a tutorial case, well in a very literal sense story-wise) as of this moment. I'm still on planning stages but I pretty much done on the storyboarding and details. Scripting and coding will follow later as I finalize some details.

It will only be a few months before Phoenix Wright finish his degree as a lawyer and take the bar exams. One of the few requirements is for him to spend mentoring time with a professional lawyer. It took no time for him to thought that his former defense lawyer, Mia Fey, would be the perfect teacher for him.

Mia accepted the offer (mostly due to Nick's very "enthusiastic" persuasion) and tagged him along to one of her trials.

With some stroke of luck, Mia is currently working on a murder case happened after a bar fight. This will be first time that Phoenix will learn the art of "turning the case around" for himself. The same skill that actually saved him from a guilty verdict months ago.


Now just for the record:

This game may take a lot, and I mean A LOT of time to complete. There maybe some instances that this thread will not be updated for a long time, but rest assured that I will not abandon this project.

I actually plan this fangame to be short, but I realized I have so many ideas buzzing on my head that I may need to have the whole plot expanded exponentially. It will take time, but I will complete this project.

As soon as I finished the planning and scripting stages, I may need some help from:

-Spriters: From the first case alone, I may require a lot of customized sprites as I intend to introduce some new characters and "younger" versions of old ones (like Phoenix minus the cold).
-Beta testers: I will be doing the programming as well, so a lot of feedback would be appreciated.

Seeing as how you STOLE MY IDEA FOR A GAME came up with a similar idea, I was wondering If I can help with the coding of this project, along with creating a few cases here and there? Incidentally, the program I use is PyWright.

Well, any help that I can get is very much appreciated. But then I could say it's too early to go with the coding job. I'm still in the process of coming up some ideas about the whole central plot (while not clashing with the canon's storyline and somehow correlate to it at the same time). As of the moment I'm writing this, I'm already writing the scripts for Case 1's first and second days.

What I'm mostly focusing now are the mechanics for the Channeling System. I'm still thinking if current casemaker systems could pull off such a game mechanic. One of the main goals is not only to introduce new characters and stories, but also new ways of playing the same game. And oh, a bit of trivia:

Mia Fey actually used this method a bit during her DL-6 incident's research. Through this, Redd White's name surfaced since she Channeled some of the suicide victims due to White's blackmailing. Phoenix, in the first game, skimmed Mia's files in the first game and mentioned this.


As for cases, I mentioned that I'm still working with some ideas about the central plot of the game. I have already listed some of the ideas, but I still can't decide for the meantime. So far, the only case that has a very concrete plan is Case 1.

But still, wait for updates. :hobohodo:

PROGRESS REPORT (and some clarifications :yuusaku: ):

Case 1: Turnabout Mentoring is still on writing stage. I'm pretty much done now with the case details so all I need to do is to outline the details and write the first and second parts of the dialogue. I originally plan Case 1 to be quite short, but then, realizing it after I written down the major details, it will be quite long. I presume a minimum of 3 to 4 hours gameplay on the first case alone. I'll post some screenshots after I test out the engine using the pre-existing sprites and sounds I already have.

But then, a few clarifications:

I actually stumbled upon something while searching for Mia's graphics that I can use for the box-art and title card.

Somebody is in the works of another Mia Fey game.

I was surprised and all, and considering that the game is in the works long before I have known that I can actually make my own PW cases. If I was discouraged? Yes, a bit I would admit.

But then, the way I envision my game, I will point out, as early as now, the major points of the plot I'm writing currently:

1. My game's plot, works in its own timeline, but still heavily influenced on the canon storyline - I could say this early, that in this game's timeline, Diego is already poisoned. The event's of this game takes place month's after Dahlia's trial. The other game I saw I presume, works also on the same timeline. But then, I decided that the main plot should stand on it's own, while some facts are heavily influenced by previous events of the canon games (mainly the flashback trials and cases in T&T). There will be also some mentions on some fangames I already played (one example I can divulge is Contempt of Court) I was also thinking about putting a sort of "disclaimer" at the beginning of the game to establish the fact that I don't intend to interject with someone's already established storyline from his/her game.


2. Mia and Diego's relationship stands - I will not establish Mia and Diego's relationship just because I like them together. It's because it is already established in the canon games (especially in T&T) what sort of relationship they actually share. I cannot defend the fact that they are more than friends or colleagues, but then I noticed in the canon games that Diego was attached to Mia in a way that one would think the latter idea. Nor there will be no character in my game that will compensate for Diego's absence, because I also noticed that Mia herself never implied that she has another person whom she was as attached to as she was with Diego.


So, I therefore, decided to still push through the game.
