A SUPER EFFECTIVE TURNABOUT IS COMPLETE!!!

http://www.mediafire.com/download/x471uni8px51y7j/ASET.zip

To play A Super Effective Turnabout, you will need Pywright. The most recent version of Pywright is packaged with my other game, Conflict of Interest.
Pywright for Windows
Pywright for OSX

To play the game, just copy everything from the download into the "games" subfolder of Pywright. The case works best in double-screen mode. Single-screen mode may give you problems in viewing some of the evidence.

This case involves a bit of canon-mashing... Meaning that I took elements from both the Pokemon video games and Pokemon anime. I'm fully aware that Ash =/= Red, etc., etc. If that kind of thing bothers you, please try not to think too deeply into it, because... you know...

It's a story about pokemon... in court... with Ace Attorney characters. It's not meant to be srs business.

I did my best to make the case playable for those who've never played or watched Pokemon before. That being said, those familiar with the Pokemon universe will definitely have an advantage with some of the contradictions. I wasn't really going for difficulty in this. It's just supposed to be a nice, light-hearted breather from some of the other grimdark fancases out there.

And as always, I'm eager to hear your thought on the case when you're finished. Always nice to get reviews.

What’s this case about?
Exactly what it sounds like. It's a crossover case involving Pokémon characters.

What’s the general plot?
Somebody dies. Somebody gets accused. You have to defend them.

How long is it?
Somewhere between one and two hours.

Pokémon? The games or the anime?
I've taken elements from both. There's a bit of canon-mashing involved. I understand that the different universes occasionally contradict each other. And I understand that Ash Ketchum and Red are separate people. But of course, it's a crossover case to begin with, so... Don’t think too heavily into it.

What case maker is this for?
Pywright, since that’s what I’m familiar with. As usual, just copy the game's folder into the Games subfolder of Pywright.
I'll consider porting it over to AAO at some point in the future. There's nothing too fancy coding-wise, so it'd probably be possible.

What characters are in it?
Play it and find out.

PROGRESS (most recent update - August 24, 2014):
COMPLETE

Koopakirby did a Let's Play of the case. Here's the link for anybody who wants to watch it.

So, I guess I've already announced the identity of the prosecutor (although in spoiler brackets), but here's a sprite I threw together over the past two nights.

Spoiler: prosecutor
Meet "Edgeworth???"

So, I've finished roughly half of the rough draft script. Right now, I'm looking for somebody to proofread it.

Though, this isn't just an excuse to see the script before everyone else. So I'd prefer it if it was someone with experience in proofreading either fancases or other fiction.

If no one else volunteers, I can do it. I've got experience on AAO for beta-ing stuff, so, on that front, I'm pretty good.

Here's a list of stuff I've beta tested/co-authored:

Turnabout Curtain
Gates of Sacrifice
Burial of the Turnabout
All the Brooks and Soldiers

Rough draft has been finished, coming out to 52 pages in length. That puts it at... maybe an hour of gameplay time, I'd predict. Give or take some, depending on how quickly you figure out the contradictions.

So, now that the first half of T-Consequences is out, I'm planning to focus on this case. So far, I've written a rough draft of the script and made several sprites and evidence pieces. The base sprites for all but one of the characters has been made. Even coded the thing up to the beginning of the first testimony. So progress is going pretty well at the moment. I'll probably post some more sprites for the prosecutor later, once I find time to convert them into .gif format.

So this is basically 3-1/4-1/5-1 in length? I can't wait, that prosecutor sprite STILL makes me laugh... I'm the one who helped you fixed the legs tho :D

Over a month without an update? Shame on you, Ropfa.

Sprites are getting very close to being finished. Several of them have been animated and I have maybe 1 1/2 characters left. I had a two week break from grad school, so I got a bunch done. But I'm starting the next course next week, so I won't have as much free time to do stuff soon.

In any case, the sprites for the prosecutor have been uploaded to my sprite thread.

But, no. Any pokemon showing up in the case will be designed like actual pokemon, and not with human bodies.

So... Everything's mostly done. I've ran through the case a few times and it will be sent out to the beta-testers either tonight, tomorrow, or the next day. After 2/3 of a year of me taking way too long, this thing's actually gonna get released. Grad school really cuts into the time available for this kind of stuff.

It's a shorter case, so I'd assume that the testers shouldn't take that long. But like always, I'm not gonna impose a strict deadline on them.

Thanks to Cardiovore, Kwando, Darth Wiader, and OmegaVitaminC for beta-testing.

Just sent out the case to the beta-testers.

In the meantime, if anybody thinks they can do a pretty good OBJECTION! voice for Meowth from Team Rocket, feel free to send me a file. I've gone to a few voice acting forums and nobody's responded yet. So unless I find somebody, we're stuck with my voice, which doesn't really sound anything like him.

Oh god TELL ME THERE'S A PIKACHU PHOENIX! Is this gonna be like the Explorers games where a human gets turned into a pokemon? It would be fitting cause in those games there are criminals and police. WHY NOT DEFENSE ATTORNEYS?! XD

Absolutely! You can just take the coding I already have and change the dialogue. Although I think that accents ` and tildes ~ don't work in Pywright, so you might have some trouble with that.

Also, if you wouldn't mind... I'd really appreciate it if any comments discussing the case were put into spoilers. Especially stuff that involves things that show up late in the trial.

I edited him a bit because some of the testers suggested that the original looked too old, compared to Ash. It was mostly just making him shorter and slimmer and the eyes a pixel taller. Thanks for helping again!
