I didn't realize until later that Lance was lying about never finding the key to his handcuffs. When you're investigating the criminal hideout you come across a small key near the coffee pot and Kay wonders what it could be for. It makes sense to say that it was probably for the handcuffs on Lance since the really wasn't anything else in the room it could have been for.
