Has anyone noticed how the time events of this game are all over the place? How do you think it would have been like if the cases were played in chronological order? It would certainly be different but well, discuss.

They really can't be unless you did things like stopping at the end of Case 4 and going back to that once you beat Case 3

I don't think it would be that bad but from a gameplay perspective it would probably make the progression of the game a lot weaker

The messed up timeline is like an AA thing by now. The only game with full chronological order is the first one.

Well, there's also AJ and GK2, if you consider 4-4 just the jurors using the MASON System, and GK2-3 Tateyuki talking to Edgeworth.

Since the murder in Edgeworth's office is the most straightforward case out of all of them, it makes sense for it to be the tutorial. Therefore, I don't have any problem in the order that the game presents the cases in.

I just finished the tvtropes recap page for the first Investigations game, and put the whole story in chronological order at the bottom. (I didn't write up the first case, but I did the other four).

I think the cases being out of order are useful since the player is supposed to be like Edgeworth, stumbling through a situation he doesn't fully understand.

Now we can add SoJ and DGS to the list too. Along with the Layton crossover,if that counts.

Seriously though, this game's timeline is very confusing. This and DD are definitely the most confusing. The other non chronological games maybe had one case take place before the other,or even a flashback case or two. In these two,the first case is actually the last one! A bit hard to wrap your mind around.

If anyone is wondering, the chronological order of the cases is:

Turnabout Reminiscence
Turnabout Airlines
Turnabout Kidnapping
Turnabout Visitor
Turnabout Ablaze
