So what is CR Mafia? It's an independent forum and site completely separate from Court Records, set up just this week by our neighborhood code monkey, lukegb, whom you may recognize as one of the helpers with CR's own website woes when Dreamhost had to shut down the forums. A round of applause, if you please.

However, when CR Mafia was set up, lukegb used a copy of the CR member database to instantly add all the users, letting CR Mafia players continue doing what they do without interruption. Unfortunately, when account administration was set to instant activation, it automatically sent an activation e-mail to everyone in the database. Oops! Oh well, free advertising.

So what IS CR Mafia?

Court Records Mafia began life in January 2008 in the now-nonexistent Big Berry Circus section of the Court Records forums. It is a collection and series of games based on the "Mafia game" concept, where Townies attempt to sniff out the Mafia undermining them in a series of high-tension, cloak-and-dagger day/night cycles. Unfortunately, the volume of activity that CR Mafia brought to the BBC, on top of the BBC's own virility, contributed to Dreamhost's temporarily shutting down CR. For the record, even after the BBC was closed, CR was shut down a second time for the same reason: overactivity.

The administrators of CR decided that they would do away with the BBC entirely. But the organizers and participants of CR Mafia, numerous and devoted as they were, wondered where they could go to play their game. Over the course of weeks of negotiation, criticism, and miscommunication, it was decided that CR Mafia would have to make its own home elsewhere on the interbutts. And thus we have crmafia.

SO WHAT IS CR MAFIA?

Whoa! If you've read this far then I guess you really want to know what this is about. As I mentioned earlier, CR Mafia is a collection of "Mafia" games. What makes CR Mafia different from other Mafia games? All the roles and scenarios are based on our favorite series of video games: Ace Attorney! That's right, we've had rounds where Angel Starr was thwomped by Thinkers; Manfred von Karma tasered Larry Butz; and even Lotta Hart single-handedly won the game.

The people who volunteer to design, organize, and run games in CR Mafia do their best to provide creative and colorful rounds. No two games are alike, as game masters differ in preferred play styles and rule sets, and you never know which players will end up on your team until it's too late. Above all, CR Mafia is a game of wits; it tests your ability to understand and manipulate people, as well as analyzing the finer points of a game's structure.

CR Mafia has since merged into Vendetta-Strada, where it and a variety of other mafia games can be played, along with many of the forum games that could once be played at the Berry Big Circus of the old CR forums.

So If you want to play, go ahead and log in at Vendetta-Strada. We're more than happy to help you learn the ropes; many good players began their CR Mafia tenure as bright-eyed, bushy-tailed neophytes, and some have moved on to start hosting their own game rounds. There's only one thing you need to know...

edit: Its been mentioned before, But I'd like to remind anyone reading this here that they can join vendetta strada and sign up for a number of fun rounds all ready to go.

We have Ocarina of Time Mafia in our Downtown Section, a place where larger rounds are played
and
all sorts of fun stuffs in the Suburbs Section for smaller rounds!
