I'm new so I hope you don't mind... :bellboy:

I mostly listen to whatever I hear in those "MAD" video.

But my favorites would be:

-Gackt (Journey to the decade, Redemption)
-Ken Hirai (Elegy, Pop Star)
-Vocaloid covers: Esp. Turnabout sisters(Miku), World is mine(Kaito)

Also Jimang came out with the ED single to Umineko, La divina tragedia, go listen to that shit NOW.

Brofist. What's your opinion of Double so far?

Also, in that same vein...JAM Project. Given how Matsumoto used to be a member.

Hate to break it to you, but these truly are some of the most popular acts in Japan right now.

Japan has some of the most manufactured recycled garbage pop music out there, and the public still eat it up. It's up to you if you like this stuff(I'll admit that I liked Love So Sweet), but don't go claiming Japan is some incredibly diverse wonderland...which is ironically stupid in a lot of levels.

Okay, first off, let's get one thing straight: I'm honestly not picking a fight with you, okay? I hope we can both resolve this.

If you look at it from a different viewpoint...anime themes.

Here's a few anime shows that are "popular" in Japan:

Fullmetal Alchemist: Rewrite - Asian Kung Fu Generation (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hGeOhuO10s8)
K-On: Don't Say Lazy (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J26prXWE ... re=related)
Bleach: Orange (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kndlk2kzTAE)
The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DSNDRgs4KCc)

All I'm saying is: every kind of music has its ups and downs. You certainly proved your point in this regard. But there ARE good songs from Japan, so please don't slander Japan's name by saying that their music is bad. I never said their music was...as you put "incredibly diverse". If you look past the bad, there are tons of Japanese songs that are just amazing.

Same goes for English music. I'm not slandering the entire English music rep by saying rap and country are generally repetitive, there are so many good bands out there: Queen, Boston, etc.

You're right and I'm not wrong. Agreed?

Don't bash an entire genre unless you're an absolute expert on it. There are plenty good rap artists and groups among the shitty ones.

You know, you're right. I will refrain from doing that from now on. I just can't stand the radio nowadays. What happened to classic rock? The radio does NOT = rap. But apparently it does.

*Sigh*

Anyways, I'm sure there is good rap/country, but I have yet to hear it.

Then stop listening to the radio, geez. There are plenty good of rap groups out there, the Wu tang clan being one. Just because you don't like the sound of it, or don't like what's popular doesn't mean it can't be good.

If you want to hear classic rock then actively find a classic rock station, or do a call in request. I don't care.

Look, I want to resolve this. I don't know why you're still upset. I've agreed to everything you said... :sadshoe:

The reason I can't stop listening to the radio is because I have 2 part-time jobs, where the radio is all they play. I don't have a choice.

Get an ipod/mp3 player, ask coworkers/supervisor to set up some kind of system where you can change the station every hour or so. Just do something about it.

Your defeatist attitude is what pisses me off

Hey look, I'm not stupid. I've tried what you said. When your boss is an asshole and is too cheap to even fix broken machines, you can't afford a speaker system. Even if he could afford one, he already told me that we don't allow mp3 players on the job. Our radio system is also cheap, and we've tried changing the channel. All we get is white noise except for two channels, which have my current problem.

I do not have a defeatist attitude. I work 2 part time jobs, manage/play in a band, volunteer for youth group, attend daily university classes, and to top it off, I'm working on one of the biggest fangames on CR. I have no extra time to myself, but I stick with it, because it's necessary.

I'd like you to drop this personal hate and realize the situation I'm in. My life is NOT easy, and I really don't need your personal attacks on me to add to my list. I agreed that there are good rap/country bands, and I've even listened to Wu-Tang, who actually interested me.(thanx for the ref)

Please, no hard feelings?!!!

The thing about Ali Project is that when you first hear them, you like a song, so then you get one of their albums

Then after listening to the whole album you realize that each and every song sounds exactly the same.

So then you rage. Rage that you spent the time to get their music, rage that you actually listened to the album in hope of a song that sounds even slightly different from the one before

And then you hear them in a new anime you're watching.

Kalafina is really good though.

It pretty much has a classical and pop sound to it sometimes with guitar, I rarely like the entire album of something.

Has this appeared in any anime shows?

Hmm MUCC did a really awesome ending to the anime Zombie Loan. Chain Ring I think the song was called. D'espairsRay is pretty chill to :D and Dir en Grey seems nice to. Havent heard anything of the other bands you named thought. But I guess I will now since I really want to listen to more j-rock but I'm to lazy searching for music xD

Edit: I totallly failed and thought this was the what are you doing thread xD.

If we're talking about J-Poppy music within video games, then as previously mentioned, Shoji Meguro's works in the Persona series are AWESOME! I love the openings to the games, particular the original ones for 3- Burn My Dread- and 4- Pursuing My True Self. Takeharu Ishimoto's songs from 'The World Ends With You' are also really nice. If we're talking about J-Pop and J-Rock outside of video games though (if that music from these games can be classified as either one), I love Lia's works; she does a great job on the Air opening and the one for Clannad After Story. Also, though I'm not sure about the artist's name, I REALLY like the opening for Steins;Gate.

Wait... I just realized almost ALL my favorite J-music -TWEWY excepted- are from visual novels... that's odd :gregory:

I really love a lot of Japanese music, especially J-rock. I think Sakanaction are my absolute favourite band right now.
Music:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZD4QeVlqHNM
Native Dancer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IiqfKF9BlcI

After them, I really love Alice Nine, L'arc~en~ciel, The Gazette, Ellegarden, School Food Punishment, NICO Touches the Walls, Asian Kung-Fu Generation, Luna Sea, and more.

As for J-Pop, I like Bonnie Pink. She was the first J-Pop artist I listened to, and I think her music is really underrated. Rie Fu too. I also like Kyary Pamyu Pamyu.

That it is :phoenix: Anything she produces tends to be filled with epicness, and the Air ending is no exception :minuki: That said, I've always personally preferred the opening to the ending of Air for whatever reason. Both rock though :phoenix:

I don't listen to J-Rock or J-Pop as much as I used to. Korean music is more my thing now.

Although, I have seen MUCC, D'espairsRay and The Underneath live once and they were all amazing.
