So, Auto Tune seems to be a big park of our music society today.
I was wondering, do you like Auto Tune, or do you just think its a way for bad singers to earn lots of money?

Also, tell us if you've ever tryed to Auto Tune your voice (I know I have :edgy: ) If you have, plz post results!

I think Auto-Tune is just a cheap way for musicians to earn money in their music without any creativity.
What we got here is...failure to communicate

I like Auto-Tune pretty well, but then again, my only experience with it is Auto-Tune the News (I'm guessing I'd be much less fond of it if I'd heard a bunch of musicians actually using it seriously for profit).

On that note, check out Auto-Tune the News on YouTube. Seriously, it's great stuff!

Auto-tune, in itself, is not a bad creation, but yeah, the abuse of it NOT for comedic purposes is pretty stupid. (SOunding perfect is what we have Vocaloids for.)

Personally I think it sounds quite cool. And most singers who use it can actually sing as well (T-Pain for example). So I don't think its just there to make you a good singer, I think its just a cool effect :edgy:

Sometimes I don't mind auto-tune, but I get annoyed of it pretty quickly because it's way overused, especially in K-pop. Oh my god, they use it in almost every K-pop song these days. I think it can be fun and add a neat effect to the song, but sometimes enough is too much.

K-pop still has very impressive mixing and MV choreography/outfits/shiny lights. It's more of a visual feast and goes hand in hand with fashion, unlike Western pop. And tbh, the Korean music industry don't select their music talents by virtue of their singing abilities, but rather scouted for having the right looks. So lots of K-pop groups lack that vocal talent and must rely on auto-tune to help the members meet the high standards the industry sets. Have you seen them perform live? They sound so different and the quality is much poorer - well, usually.
Just gonna stand there and watch me burn?
But that's alright because I like the way it hurts

It's what made ke$ha famous.

I don't mind it but if it's too overused it sounds pretty bad.

I don't mind if it's used as a gimmick or an effect for a certain song, but I can't stand how it's abused in almost every other song on the radio today.

Probably ironic coming from someone who enjoys listening to Vocaloid songs on a daily basis. But Vocaloids are computer programs. When I hear a song from a real-life artist, I want to hear their actual human singing voice.

Can be done well (Daft Punk obviously, and Herbie Hancock as well) and badly (hi Kanye's entire last album). It depends on the individual artist. Note I might be confusing auto-tune with general vocoder use, in which case I'm sorry; can't tell the difference.

I like auto-tune. Sometimes it depends on how it's being used.

For example, some artists won't sing their entire song with auto-tune. Certain parts may have auto-tune or background vocals.
