Spoiler: for all your questions
1. Phoenix, Apollo, Athena, Trucy, Pearl, Juniper, Klavier, Fulbright, and a mystery person called "Quiz-kun"
2. No court stuff; only puzzle questions, all of which are about murder mysteries, and characters interacting in rather funny scenes
3. All music used is already in-game
4. Wright Anything Agency, Kyubi Manor, Space Museum, Themis Law Academy auditorium & hallway, Cosmos Space Center entrance & boarding lounge 1, and a courtroom lobby
5. No given date, but assumed to be between DLC case and case 4; but also can be considered non-canon due to randomness factor

And next time, grammar and spell check, so it's easier for someone to read that.

Now that I think about it, it's thanks to this Quiz DLC that I finally got to examine Charley, if it was only briefly. Maybe I shouldn't have complained so much about that after all...

What do they say about Charley and the other stuff you can examine?

Wow, you actually hounded my post. Ah, sorry about that; I misremembered the bit about Charley. It was in Turnabout Reclaimed where Apollo mentioned staying behind to water him while Phoenix and Athena took off, and we don't actually get to poke at Charley.

The other things you can examine are places where the cards are hidden. In the first chapter, Apollo and Trucy don't say too much before jumping into the quizzes, but every time Apollo answers correctly, Trucy comes up with some way to congratulate him. He finds her behavior strangely peppier than usual. Plus, she doesn't seem to worry when they get locked in or hear about Phoenix and Athena being locked up elsewhere.
Spoiler: Trivia
1st one is always in the bookcase. Trucy's the one who finds it for you.

Another is in Nick's beanie. Trucy calls it his "NEET hat" - yes, that NEET.

Another is in Apollo's red jacket/vest/article-of-clothing. Trucy comments that he always leaves it lying around, and he replies that he never leaves anything in the pockets anyway. Trucy finds a card in one, to which he exclaims "What? When did that get in there!"

Another is in the spaghetti prop. Trucy worries about the card getting stained, and Apollo points out that it's made of rubber.

Another is slipped into the bindings around the package on the floor. Apparently, Mr. Wright had meant to send that package, but forgot it for five years. Apollo doesn't quite believe it either.

Ash, if you don't mind, I can translate the conversations outside of the quizzes. I want to replay through these chapters again~

Yeah sure, I wasn't playing to do them anyway (To be honest though, I am not even sure whether I am going to translate more, as there doesn't seem to be a demand for it...)

I would make a video if there is a complete English walkthrough. I played through it once with a Japanese Wiki and Google Translator but that was quite... difficult. ;-)

A thought occurred to me while I was playing this the other day... (Still haven't finished  )

I wonder if we can't examine during regular investigations is because they knew/intended to put all the examine convos here in Turnabout Quiz...

Dammit, I swear there was one time in this Quiz DLC that I got to check Charley. When was it!? I will not rest until I find it! Graaaaaaagh!?!

But yeah, if anyone could answer that for me, I'd appreciate it.

But if there's no demand for it, I might as well pour the time/effort in a translation for my blog or something like that ^^ I mean, I could also choose to do an Awasaka translation, which would be sorta GS related. Or that weird GS jury trial story... And I still have to write a story in Japanese, so that's kinda like translating. In my head. Sorta. Actually, it's creepy how much of it is not really translating, but 'just' writing.

Yeah, I was half-serious when I posted that. I guess I'll work on them if this thread gets more attention or something. Wait, which "weird GS jury trial story"? (I agree that Awasaka's works are definitely worth a viewing; magician detectives ftw.)

I sometimes forget that you're not actually Japanese. These language studies are getting to me in a completely different way.

Meaningful double post, yeah!

Spoiler: Translated Script, Chapter 1 Intro
Apollo: My name is Apollo Justice. I'm a lawyer.
We don't get many clients at this office, so every day, we're just waiting for something to happen.
I thought that day was going to be another one of those.
At the time, I didn't know it yet, but...
we would be separated to each our own, and a conspiracy was what awaited us...

Some day, 12:15 pm
Wright Anything Agency

Apollo: Today's another boring day. Not even one client has shown up.
We just finished with a big cleaning yesterday, so now we have nothing to do.
Trucy: What are you talking about, Apollo?
We do as we usually do. Let's practice some magic!
3, 2, 1... ta-da!
Apollo: Don't pull my attorney's badge out of weird places!
Anyway... it's so boring here.
Oh, wait... where did Mr. Wright go?
Trucy: He went out to Nine-tales Vale and the Space Center to pass out some flyers for our agency.
We should help out too! It's not like we have anything better to do.
Apollo: Do we really...?

Apollo: Huh? The door's locked.
Trucy: No way! Even after I polished this rusty old key until it shined?
Hmm... it really won't open.
...Huh? Hey, there's a paper stuck in the door crack.
Apollo: "If you want to leave this office, you'll have to solve 5 logic quizzes hidden around the office."
What is this, some kind of a prank?
...Ah, I get it. Mr. Wright and Athena must be trying to mess with us.
Trucy: That can't be! Daddy wouldn't lock me up like this.
It must be one of your buddies.
Apollo: And why is this MY fault!?
Still, this is a problem. If we could somehow break down this door...
Trucy: No, don't!
If you break anything, Daddy will have to pay for it!
Apollo: ...Then, let's call the police and wait for their help.

Apollo: Huh? Who's this from? (It's an unknown number.)
Hello? This is Justice speaking.
???: Kee-kee-kee! You can't get away that easily!
Apollo: ! Who are you!?
???: You don't know me...? Are you joking?
I am the master of all quizzes... "Quizkun"!
Trucy: Apollo! What's wrong?
Apollo: This call is from the guy who set up the quizzes... he calls himself "Quizkun".
Trucy: Quiz... kun?
Quizkun: That's right! I am Quizkun!
Mr. Justice, you mustn't call the police about this.
If you even dare... who knows what will happen to this agency?
So, have fun solving all those quizzes!
Apollo: Ah! Wait! ...Ugh, he cut off.
Trucy: Hmm, looks like we're being watched.
Apollo: But... what did he mean by something happening in this unoccupied office...?
Trucy: Anyway, in this case, the office is in trouble if we don't do something!
Let's look for those quizzes!
Apollo: ...Alright. It's not like we have anything better to do.
Let's look around for those so-called "logic quizzes".
Trucy: Yep! Together with Trucy's magic, we'll solve those quizzes in one fell swoop!
Apollo: (Even then, I doubt magic would have anything to do with them.)
Trucy: Okay... where do we begin looking?
Apollo: Let's see... that big bookshelf seems kinda suspicious.
Trucy: Then let's first examine the big bookshelf!

Spoiler: Chapter 1, Quiz 1
Trucy: O-kay! Apollo, did you guess right?
Apollo! There's a card here.
Apollo: A card...?
Ah! There's a question written on it!

Quiz: ~Proving the Murderer's Guilt~

Apollo: Hmm... how's that?
CORRECT
Trucy: Wow, Apollo! How did you know?
Apollo: The cause of death was unknown, right? Yet the second son said he was strangled.
This is something only the criminal would know.
Trucy: Ah-ha! Now that you mention it, you're right!
No matter what the lie, those two eyes will surely "Perceive" it!
That is the power of the Wright Anything Agency's young ace, Apollo Justice!
Apollo: (...Where did that come from?) A-anyway.
Now that this one's been solved, there should be 4 more of them.
Trucy: So, there are still 4 more cards hiding around in this room.
Alrighty! Let's get to searching and blazing through every one!

Spoiler: Chapter 1, checking Apollo's jacket
Trucy: I wonder if there's a question card in Apollo's jacket's pockets...
...Hey, there really is one here!
Apollo: ...When did that get there!?

Quiz: ~A Genius in Selfies~

Apollo: Hmm... how's that?
CORRECT
Trucy: Whoa, a bullseye! But what was so strange?
Apollo: The left side of the yukata's lapel is laid over, right?
Normally, it's the right side that's supposed to be laid over.
Trucy: Oh! ...But what's wrong with that?
Apollo: I think this photo has been flipped left-to-right, like in a mirror.
This is how she originally took the photo.
Now, look at this clock. It's not actually 9 am...
it's 3 pm! This way, she loses her alibi.
Trucy: You knew it up to that point? Leave it to you, Apollo!
If the truth is in there somewhere, you'll blow out the lie for all to see!
Apollo: (...Trucy sure seems to be in good spirits today.)

Spoiler: Chapter 1, checking Nick's hat
Trucy: This is Daddy's beanie. I made it for him, you know.
Apollo: Oh, really? It's pretty good. Hey, there's a question under the hat.

Quiz: ~Yatabukiya (Eldoon)’s Flavored Egg~

Apollo: Hmm... how's that?
CORRECT
Trucy: Apollo, nice one! You did it!
I thought it was going to be 100 yen.
Apollo: I did too, but it didn't seem right.
You see, it says the miso-ramen is 1100 yen in all,
but if the order includes the ramen and the egg, it becomes 1200 yen instead.
So, the egg has to be 50 yen, and the ramen is 1050 yen.
Trucy: So, to summarize...

[insert blackboard with equations and Trucy's adorable art, w/ chibi-Pollo's head]

Trucy: It's like this, huh?
The lawyer of the Wright Anything Agency calculates a decisive solution!
Apollo: (...But it was just basic math.)

Spoiler: Chapter 1, package on floor
Apollo: This package has always been left here.
Trucy: It's addressed to Daddy. ...The stamp is from 5 years ago.
Apollo: (Apparently, he's neglected it for so long that he forgot...) Ah, there's a quiz where the address line is!

Quiz: ~The Disappeared Bullet Hole~

Apollo: Hmm... how's that?
CORRECT
Trucy: Apollo, you did it!
But how did you know?
Apollo: Take a good look at the bloodstain. There's even some under the picture, right?
Trucy: Oh!
Apollo: If the picture was here when he was killed...
it should be covered in blood, but it isn't.
The scene probably was like this when he was killed.
The killer tried to make it look like a suicide, so after killing him, he hid the bullet hole behind the picture.
Trucy: I see! Way to go, Apollo!
Wherever and however evil lurks, those two horns will deal a smashing blow!
Apollo: ...Why does that sound like a motto of some sort?

Spoiler: Chapter 1, checking the spaghetti plate
Trucy: Oh no! There's a card in the spaghetti!
It's now all sticky with ketchup.
Apollo: ...The spaghetti's made of wax, so it can't get dirty.
:sillytrucy:

Quiz: ~Witness~

Apollo: Hmm... how's that?
CORRECT
Trucy: Apollo, you got it!
...But why is that person the culprit?
Apollo: Take a good look at this picture. The man in the middle is holding an umbrella.
The culprit wasn't carrying anything, so this man isn't the culprit.
The man on the right isn't wearing a hood, so he's not the culprit either.
Trucy: But the man on the left isn't wearing one either.
Apollo: That man's feet are soaked, but the rest of his body isn't.
Since he doesn't have an umbrella, and he's still dry,
he probably was wearing a raincoat.
His head isn't wet either, so it must have had a hood.
Trucy: But where did that raincoat disappear to?
Apollo: Look at it again. There's a trash can behind them.
Trucy: Ah! The trash can has something like a raincoat sticking out.
Apollo: He probably threw it in there.
Trucy: I see! Good going, Apollo!
With the Great Detective Apollo around, there's no mystery that he can't solve!
Apollo: (...I'm not a detective, though.)

Spoiler: Chapter 1 End
Apollo: That should be all of them.
! It's Quizkun!
Quizkun: Wow! Splendid! You've correctly answered all the quizzes!
Trucy: Quizkun! We got all of them!
Quizkun: Kee-kee-kee! 5 counts as "all of them"? Don't be silly.
Your friends are also in the same situation, locked up somewhere, you know?
Apollo: W-what!? Mr. Wright and Athena too?
Quizkun: If you don't solve these quizzes... who knows what will happen?
Trucy: You're terrible! The Magician of Justice will come to their rescue!
Apollo: What the heck is a Magician of Justice...?
(Somehow, Trucy's acting a little strange today.)
Quizkun: If you want to save them, you'll have to open that door!
Trucy: Oh! The door opened! Now we can finally leave.
Quizkun: Just what are you people? How did that ever happen!?
Kee-kee-kee! To solve this mystery, you'll need to challenge more of these quizzes!
Apollo: (I'm not really sure what's going on here...)
(but now the others are in trouble!)
(We have to hurry!)
To be continued...

Edit: Check Ash's post on the previous page for screenshots & quiz details.

For what it's worth, I seriously appreciate you posting this. I don't have access to the Japanese eShop, so getting the quiz DLC isn't an option for me. It's pretty much through a mix of caps and reaction posts on tumblr that I can get tidbits of the dialogue that happens outside the quiz portions, so this chunk of the the first part definitely helps me not miss out entirely. Thank you!

A little video from me. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VXQvANVnqnc

It shows the first chapter and some of the final one...

EDIT: Oh there is a sound delay but not in the original recording. Strange. I will reupload it soon.

I have a GS themed book on jury trials, which includes a short story featuring Naruhodou doing a jury trial. It's weird. Hence weird GS jury trial story.

Oh, man, now I think about, these quizzes are pretty much the same as the ones on the mobile GS site; only those stories are more written like stories than just quizzes. Everbody is talking about wanting Maya back in GS, but she pops up once in a while IIRC.

Thanks for your support, guys. Heck, if someone wants to use my translations as subs, go ahead.

Oh, and what Ash meant above, he's talking about the quizzes on the official GS fanclub site. Maya doesn't show up in here.

Spoiler: Chapter 2 Intro
Apollo: Trucy and I were just locked up in the office.
At that moment, a mystery man named Quizkun gave us a call.
He told us, "If you want to leave the office, you'll have to solve logic quizzes."
After we solved every one of those quizzes,
we heard Mr. Wright and Athena have also been locked up.
Are they going to be alright...?

Some day, 12:45 pm
Wright Anything Agency

Trucy: Daddy... should be fine. Don't worry, Apollo!
Apollo: I'll give Mr. Wright a call, and then we'll leave.

Same day, 12:45 pm
Nine-tails Vale, The Fox Chamber

Apollo: ...he said. Mr. Wright.
Phoenix: Quizkun... huh.
Okay. We'll try to do what we can from here...
Apollo, I want you to go help Athena.
She ought to be with Juniper.
Apollo: I'm on it! I'll first give her a call.

Pearl: Mr. Nick. What did Apollo say?
Phoenix: A mystery man named Quizkun has locked us up in here.
Pearl: Quizkun-san... you say?
Phoenix: Umm, just call him Quiz-san or Quizkun.
Pearl: Why has Mr. Quiz locked us up in here?
Phoenix: I guess they didn't want us posting up flyers everywhere.
Even after we finally could get around to it. Normally, the chief doesn't have to write these by hand.
Pearl: Mr. Nick, I see you're still having trouble with money as usual...
Phoenix: N-never mind that. According to what Apollo said...
We need to find some hidden cards with quizzes written on them and solve them to get to leave.
Just as I thought, based on this memo we found earlier.
"If you want to get out, solve 12 hidden logic quizzes."
...which is to say, it looks like we can't avoid it.
Pearl: Let's do it, Mr. Nick! It's a good opportunity to better the office's reputation!
If we solve the quizzes, I'm sure a lot of clients will come by!
Phoenix: I-is that so...? (That's an odd motivation for it.)
Well, while I'm concerned about how Athena and Juniper are doing...
let's get to solving these quizzes!

Spoiler: Chapter 2, painting on the right
Pearl: This is a picture of the Nine-taled Fox.
I'm fond of things with an antique feeling.
Phoenix: (Still the old-customs kind of girl, as always.) There's a card behind the picture.

Quiz: ~What the Still Life Painting Says~

Phoenix: Alright... How's this...?
CORRECT
Pearl: Congratulations, Mr. Nick.
But what exactly is the contradiction?
Phoenix: If we follow the record, the first fruit to be painted was the apple in the center.
The next one to be drawn was the fruit to the left. That's the grapes.
Then, the third one was the orange up front.
The final one would have to be the lemon.
Furthermore, the times at which he drew them have been confirmed.
Pearl: According to the record, the last fruit, which was the lemon, was painted...
at 6 pm.
Oh!
Phoenix: That's right. The art dealer said it was past 3 when he saw something yellow.
But, at around 3 pm, there was no lemon drawn yet!
Pearl: But why would he say something like that?
Phoenix: He probably saw the completed picture when he killed the painter.
So, that yellow color left an imprint in his mind.
Pearl: That's Mr. Nick for you!
The Ace of the Wright Anything Agency! Mr. Wright! [TN: Mr. Naruhodou]
Phoenix: (...Rather than just an "ace", don't you mean "chief"?)

Spoiler: Quiz: ~What the Still Life Painting Says~
"On November 11, around 8 pm, a famous painter has been murdered. He had been painting this picture when he was murdered. On the studio desk, the victim's work journal was found.

10 am
I first started painting from the center-most fruit. This is a never-changing habit of mine.

1 pm
I've finished the first fruit, and the second one to be will be set to the left of the first.

3 pm
The fruit closest to me is a subject that I'm not as good with. I will take my time before I move to the last.

6 pm
I've taken my brush in hand. I'll try my best to add the finishing touches to the last fruit.

Everything in the journal is confirmed to be written by the victim, and the times are correct. There were three people who visited the studio that day. Every one returned within 30 minutes of the incident and were questioned.

Manager: I had a meeting with him at 2 pm. He was slowly shaping out the orange when we talked.
Dealer: It was past 3 pm when I met him. I had seen the picture while it was still in production, and I saw something strikingly yellow.
Student: I was the last to meet with him at 7 pm. The picture was finished by then. I saw the completed orange.

Question 1: Whose testimony contradicts with the painting?
Image
Question 2: Where is the contradiction in the painting?
[Point out the contradiction in the picture]

Spoiler: Chapter 2, trophies & awards
Pearl: Wow! There are so many shields and trophies here.
Phoenix: They're all from his championships in pro-wrestling tournaments.
Pearl: Prores...? What a lovely-sounding name.
Phoenix: Uh, no, that's not it. (She doesn't know what pro-wrestling is...?)
Oh, there's a card among the trophies.

Quiz: ~Glass Shards~

Phoenix: Alright... How's this...?
CORRECT
Pearl: You did it! You're amazing, Mr. Nick!
Phoenix: There are glass shards on the victim's body...
so the glassware had to have been shattered after the victim was killed.
Pearl: But what was the criminal trying to hide?
Phoenix: The visitor said he forgot his glasses.
But visitors to an exhibition gallery wouldn't forget to bring glasses.
Pearl: Oh, certainly! If they didn't bring them, they wouldn't see anything at all!
Phoenix: When the victim put up a fight, he may have broken his attacker's glasses.
So, to hide those shards...
he had no choice but to break all those glassware.

Spoiler: Quiz: ~Glass Shards~
A murder is discovered at a glassware gallery exhibition. The victim has been strangled to death. The suspects are three people: the receptionist, a visitor, and a craftsman.

Receptionist: Oh, no! All the works have been shattered into pieces! Many of them were high-valued articles...
Did the victim try fighting back? To be killed in a place like this...
You can take pictures of the works here. If only I hadn't forgotten my camera...
Visitor: I'm sorry. I happened to forget my glasses at home.
I couldn't see anything at all.
I carelessly stepped on some of the glass shards too.
Craftsman: My beautiful works have been shattered to bits!
If I was the criminal, I wouldn't shatter my own works.
So, I can't be the criminal!

Question 1: When were the glassware exhibitions broken?
Image
["Before", "During", "After"]
Question 2: Why were the glassware broken?
["To hide evidence", "Broken during the struggle", "Glassware was the weapon"]
Question 3: Therefore, who is the criminal?
[Choose one of those three]

Spoiler: Chapter 2, right fox statue
Pearl: Mr. Nick, this is the Nine-tails Vale, right?
But this fox only has one tail.
Phoenix: Wouldn't those assigned as lookouts be the underling foxes?
The routine duties are usually assigned to the underlings.
Pearl: What a hard life... Oh, there's a card on its tail!

Quiz: ~The Feeling In the Photo~

Phoenix: Alright... How's this...?
CORRECT
Pearl: It was somewhat of a challenging question. How did you know?
Phoenix: If the photos weren't edited in any way, we can cross off the two other women, who either don't have a mole or have a scar.
Yokoe might not have been doing so well with dieting...
so I think she sent an old photo of her slim self.
But in reality, she didn't get any slimmer, so she didn't want to meet.
Pearl: Oh... this world is as rough as I thought...

Spoiler: ~You In the Photo~
A man named Futoshi Yase is looking to ask about his troubles.

Yase: I have a lover I've met online.
We first met among a community of people working on dieting.
We exchanged photos with each other to see how our dieting efforts has been going.
These are the photos she sent me.
She's really amazed me with how slim she's become.
After the two of us slimmed down, we ended up falling over heels in love.
However, when I wanted to meet her in-person, she stopped keeping in touch.
I wanted to me her anyway and desperately gathered information about her.
Then, I came upon three women, one of which could be her.
Yokoe is a very overweight woman who wears lipstick and hides her face behind a mask.
Futsumi has a normal figure, but she doesn't have a mole under her mouth.
Hosoyo has a matching slim figure, but she has an old scar on her upper arm.
I had an expert check through the photos, and there weren't any signs of them being processed.

Question 1: Which of these three women is my lover?
Image
Question 2: If that woman is my "girlfriend", how were the pictures taken?
["Using a photo technique", "The times are wrong", "Mixed up with a different person"]

Spoiler: Chapter 2, chair on right
Pearl: It wouldn't just be under the chair, right?
Phoenix: Haha. It wouldn't be that simple to find them.
Pearl: ...Oh, here it is!
Phoenix: (It is!?)

Quiz: ~Unwavering Suspicion~

Phoenix: Alright... How's this...?
CORRECT
Pearl: Wow, you got it. I had no idea whatsoever.
But what's so strange about the will?
Phoenix: The fact that there's nothing strange with it... is exactly why it's so strange.
Once the breaker was reset, the electric fan turned back on.
That means the fan was still on around 3 pm, at the time of the victim's passing.
Pearl: Oh! So that means... the will should have been blown off the desk.
Phoenix: That's right. The killer may have tried to fake the will after poisoning the victim.
At that moment, the breaker was released, and the fan stopped moving.
Pearl: So, the killer didn't worry about leaving the will on the desk.
...Is that right?
Whatever the puzzle, you'll blow it away! The greatest attorney in the world, unsurpassed under heaven!
Phoenix: (Unsurpassed under heaven... that's saying a bit much.)

Spoiler: ~Unwavering Suspicion~
The body of a man believed to have committed suicide by taking poison was discovered. There is a will left on the desk in the room. The autopsy results confirmed the estimated time of death was around 3 pm yesterday. Though the room's electricity was out and thus was investigated, lightning fell yesterday around 4 pm and the breaker was released. Once the breaker was reset, the electric fan turned on again. Given the conditions of the crime scene, the detective believed this had been a murder.

Question: By looking at what did the detective figure out it was a murder?

Spoiler: Chapter 2, chandelier
Pearl: Wow, the fire in place of the lighting is gathered up together.
Phoenix: This isn't real fire; it's just lighting in the shape of flames.
Pearl: ...Oh, is that so.
Phoenix: (I just break her dreams, didn't I...?) Ah, there's a card here too!

Quiz: ~A Weaponless Murder~

Phoenix: Alright... How's this...?
CORRECT
Pearl: You were completely correct.
But would being hit by mochi really hurt that much?
Phoenix: The killer definitely hardened them into one huge block and hit the victim...
and then chopped it up into pieces and grilled them.
Pearl: Well, that certainly is possible.

Spoiler: ~A Weaponless Murder~
Earlier this month, a murder incident was discovered. The victim was struck by a solid board-like object and killed. After the incident, the criminal quickly surrendered to custody. The one who turned herself in was the victim's wife; the victim had been cooking in the kitchen. However, even after looking everywhere, the police couldn't find a weapon. The victim bled from his head, so the weapon must have been stained with blood. They ran a luminol test for blood and sprayed every solid board-like object. Still, there were no signs of blood anywhere. Luminol can still react to remnants of blood even after being rinsed off... The truth is, there is a weapon somewhere at the scene.

Question: Which object is the murder weapon?

Spoiler: Chapter 2, fox head above door
Pearl: This is... Mr. Fox, isn't it? [TN: kitsune-san]
I used to play with him when I was a still a child.
I'd always get a dango as a souvenir.
But for some reason, when I returned home, it became a muddy dango.
Phoenix: (She was confused by that...?) Oh, here's another card.

Quiz: ~The Disappeared Footprints~

Phoenix: Alright... How's this...?
CORRECT
Pearl: You did it, Mr. Nick.
But how did the waves erase the footprints?
Phoenix: If we read the question again carefully... the incident took place 6 hours ago.
6 hours ago means the tide wasn't as high as it is here.
The waves eventually flowed up to this point as you see it.
Moving along the high tide, the killer escaped without a trace.
Pearl: Wow, now I realize it.
With you around, Mr. Nick, any defendant will be completely innocent!
Phoenix: (...If they really are the killer, though, there's no way they're innocent.)

Spoiler: ~The Disappeared Footprints~
A body was discovered on a certain beach. The autopsy results determined it had been about 6 hours since the time of death. The mystery is, not only is the unstable footing in the sand unrelated to the crime, only the victim's footprints were discovered at the scene. These footprints are indeed the victim's footprints. How did the killer manage to erase their own footprints...?

Question 1: What trick did the killer use?
Image
["It's not a murder", "Made the footprints themselves", "Used something at the scene"]
Question 2: What did the killer use to erase the footprints?
[Point it out]

Spoiler: Chapter 2, Forbidden Chamber door
Pearl: This is... hmm, this door doesn't open.
Phoenix: I heard there was once something sealed up inside.
Pearl: What if, the way to break that seal is to solve all the quizzes?
Phoenix: I really doubt that. (...I think.)
Oh, there's a card in the door crack.

Quiz: ~The Disappeared Murderer~

Phoenix: Alright... How's this...?
CORRECT
Pearl: You did it, Mr. Nick!
But that person has also been tied up.
Phoenix: Take another good look. Only one person has his hands tied up in front, right?
To make himself look like a victim, he tied himself up.
He can't tie himself up behind his back.
Pearl: Oh, now I finally see it.

Spoiler: ~The Disappeared Murderer~
A burglary has broken into a jewelry store at a fair crowded with people. The store owner immediately reported the crime using a hidden [intercom] button behind his desk. That way, the police surrounded the scene before the burglar could escape. Then, the police rushed into the store. However, once in there, there were only some bounded guests and the store owner. There are no secret passages to escape through, nor any places here to hide. Just how did the burglar manage to escape?

Question 1: The burglar...
Image
["Used a trick to escape", "Is hiding somewhere", "Is among these people"]
Question 2: Who is the burglar?
[Point the person out]

Spoiler: Chapter 2, table
Pearl: What a splendid table this is.
Phoenix: There's got to be something hidden underneath the table.
Pearl: Mr. Nick, you always know everything, don't you?
Umm, there really isn't anything.
Phoenix: Well, the things that stand out wouldn't be hidden.
Pearl: Ah, there's a card stuck to its back!
Phoenix: Ugh... (That didn't turn out so well.)

Quiz: ~The Key's Whereabouts~

Phoenix: Alright... How's this...?
CORRECT
Pearl: Right on the mark, Mr. Nick!
But by taking out unneeded letters, which ones do we take out?
Phoenix: Kagi in English is spelled KEY.
If we do as what the code says: "Take the key!"...
We should take the letters K, E, and Y out of the code.
Pearl: So, they become BALL and SOFA, is that right?
Even scrambled English is no match for the attorney unsurpassed under heaven: Mr. Nick!
Phoenix: (I don't see how those few words are much to brag about.)

Spoiler: ~The Key's Whereabouts~
A great detective successfully enters the hideout where his rivaling mysterious thief resides. However, once he enters one of the rooms, the door is locked up. To escape the room, the door requires two keys to open it. There is a code on paper left on the table that appears to hint at their whereabouts.

Code: Take the key!
1st key
KBEYALEYKLE
2nd key
SKOEYFKAEY
If you can decipher this code, you can find the two keys!

Question 1: Where is the first key hidden?
Image
Question 2: Where is the second key hidden?
[Point it out]
Question 3: What is the key point to deciphering the code?
["Order the letters by alphabet", "Add in needed letters", "Take out unneeded letters"]

Spoiler: Chapter 2, left fox statue
Pearl: This is... Mr. Fox's statue. He looks just like the one watching over the door.
Phoenix: It must be guarding whatever that is sealed up inside that door.
Oh, its mouth has a card.

Quiz: ~Christmas Present~

Phoenix: Alright... How's this...?
CORRECT
Pearl: Wonderful! You already knew it, didn't you?
Phoenix: There's usually a star at the top of the Christmas tree.
It's strange that there'd be a tiara sitting there by itself instead.
Pearl: Finding lost items in a blink of an eye... that's the Wright Anything Agency!
Phoenix: (Umm, it's not exactly a detective agency.)

Spoiler: ~Christmas Present~
A Christmas party is launched for the holidays, but an incident takes place during it. Suddenly, the lights in the room all go out, and the party ends up in darkness. There's a scream, and when the lights do come back on, a woman's accessory she wore on her has disappeared. After the lights went out, no one left the the room. So, the missing accessory couldn't have left either.

Question: Where did such an expensive item disappear to?
Image

Spoiler: Chapter 2, left chair
Pearl: Things can easily fall into this chair's wide spaces...
Ah, as I thought, there's a card.
Phoenix: Hey, even you ended up falling into it, Pearls.
Pearl: N-no, I hadn't! It's just your opinion!

Quiz: ~My and Your Place~

Phoenix: Alright... How's this...?
CORRECT
Pearl: You did it! This is one I figured out too.
A B C D E F G... as in, counting through the alphabet,
the letters between O and K are L, M, and N.
So, the L-M-N place on this map must be the LeMoN store.
Solving romantic problems like it's no problem! Welcome to the Wright Anything Agency!
Phoenix: (...Really? Romantic problems?)

Spoiler: ~My and Your Place~
A puzzle-loving lover of mine sent a map to me by mail.

Mail: On this day of the week, at 13:00, I will be waiting in front of the store between O and K.

Question: The store between O and K...? Just where is she waiting?
Image
[TN: There's a reference here to the name "Suzuki", which is also Maggey's surname, but written differently.]

Spoiler: Chapter 2, folding screen
Pearl: There is also a secret folding screen at the village where I live, Kurain Village.
Phoenix: Oh? Wait, now that I think about it, I remember seeing something like that once...
Pearl: Oh, there's a card caught under the folding screen.

Quiz: ~Sweet Murderous Intent~

Phoenix: Alright... How's this...?
CORRECT
Pearl: Splendid job. So, the poison was on her left hand.
Phoenix: Yep. It's odd to need both hands to pass out chocolates. If you look carefully, her left hand doesn't have as much chocolate on it. She passed out chocolates to everyone else with her right hand, and then gave the one to the victim with her left.
Pearl: I see! ...Ah, but I'm not calling your name without the proper suffix! [TN: "naruhodo"]
Even with the smallest bit of evidence, you can solve anything! The super attorney!
Phoenix: (Saying it like that, it's a bit embarrassing.)

Spoiler: ~Sweet Murderous Intent~
An incident takes place on Valentine's Day. A certain female student had been passing out chocolates, and a male student died eating one.
The cause of death was poisoning. It was determined from the the half-eaten poisoned chocolate. The girl passing out chocolates had this to say.

Student: I made a bunch of these little chocolates and passed them out to everyone in class myself. I always kept my gloves on as I handed out these easy-to-melt chocolates. I also always gave these out in front of someone... There's no way I could have put the poison in there!

And yet, the culprit is indeed this girl. She used some sort of trick to add poison specifically to the victim.

Question: From where could the poison have been mixed in?
Image

Spoiler: Chapter 2, spear rack
Pearl: Mr. Nick! There's a card hidden behind the spears! [TN: yari]
Phoenix: Let's take a stab at it! ...just kidding. [TN: yarii!]
Pearl: .......
Phoenix: (Uh-oh. Did I make her mad...?)

Quiz: ~Where did the Weapon go?~

Phoenix: Alright... How's this...?
CORRECT
Pearl: As expected of you, Mr. Nick.
But how could that pool of water be the murder weapon?
Phoenix: Take another look at the room. See the fire crackling away?
At one moment, the thing made of water...
Pearl: Oh, I get it! It was ice.
Phoenix: Yes. He may have been stabbed by an icicle.
Pearl: So that was how it was.

Spoiler: ~Where did the Weapon go?~
In a lodge on Eagle Mountain, a man has been killed. The victim's life ended with a single stab into the chest. The killer was immediately arrested, and the case was assumed to be solved. Yet, they never found the murder weapon. The killer stabbed the victim and ran off without it, so where is the murder weapon?

Question: Which object is the weapon?

Spoiler: Chapter 2, Intermission part 1
Phoenix: Whew... we finally answered all 12.
Pearl: Ah, the door has opened. Leave it to Mr. Nick!
Phoenix: Hahaha. Well, you know. (I am a bit tired, though.)

Phoenix: (It's an unknown number.) Hello, who is this?
Quizkun: My name is Quizkun! I'm the one who locked you guys up!
Phoenix: ...Is this a new way to trick people or something?
Quizkun: Kee-kee-kee! You would like to know my true identity, wouldn't you?
Phoenix: Nah, I don't really care.
Quizkun: Wha...!? H-how dare you! Don't you want to know?
Pearl: What are you saying, Mr. Nick?
You're supposed to answer "I want to know"!
Phoenix: (...Why is Pearls upset at me?)
Okay, I guess "I want to know" for now.
Quizkun: Then, come to the place I have pointed out for you!

This is awesome. I can't begin to say how much I appreciate what you're doing.
From the screens, I got a certain Professor Layton vibe out of it, and although the puzzles seem easy, it was a very interesting change of scenery. It's a shame it won't make it out of Japan...

Hey, guys, I finished chapter 2 when I'm supposed to be prepping for my final exams. Isn't that sweet of me?

Spoiler: Chapter 2, Intermission part 2
Same day, 12:50 pm
Space Center, Space Museum

Juniper: Thena, what did Apollo say?
Athena: A mystery person named Quizkun has locked us up in here.
We have to solve some logic quizzes hidden around the room to get out.
It looks like Apollo's on his way here to help us.
Juniper: ! Apollo is... going to save me...!
Athena: (Well, he's also going to save me too...)
Never mind that. First off, what are these logic quizzes about?
Juniper: ...Logic quizzes?
Ah, speaking of which, I found this paper just earlier.
Athena: Hey, tell me that sooner! Let's see...
"If you want to get out, solve 12 hidden logic quizzes."
It's just like Apollo said...
As I thought, the one who locked us in here has to be Quizkun.
Juniper: Just who is this Quizkun...?
Athena: I don't know. What I do know, though, is that we have to solve these quizzes.
We need to hurry and get out of here, so we can take out that Quizkun guy!

Spoiler: Chapter 2, hologram
Juniper: Wow... it's so pretty. An image of the planets glittering together.
Athena: (I looked over without thinking...) .........
Widget: I love it so much deep inside!
Athena: Wah! Hey, Widget, stop that! Why did you come out and say something right now!?
(So, this is how I really feel deep inside... oof.)
Juniper: There's a card right here. ...Let's hurry and get out, I'm a bit hungry.

Quiz: ~Price of the Morning~

Athena: Okay. How's that?
CORRECT
Juniper: You did it! As I thought, the yen was counted by the number of circles.
Athena: Let's count the number of circles in these numbers written here.
0, 6, and 9 each have one circle. 8 has 2 of them.
Juniper: ...Huh? Thena, look at the 4th line.
For 4951, the 9 is supposed to have 1... but it says 0 there.
Athena: That's the trick to the question! If you look carefully, that 9 doesn't have a closed loop.
That's why the 4951 on the 4th line becomes 0 yen.
Which is to say, the box on the 5th line has to be 4 yen!
Juniper: Oh, so the way the 9 is written really mattered.
Nice work, Thena. So this is the true strength of a defense attorney.
The agency that you can rely on for anything, the Wright Anything Agency!
Athena: If you say it like that, aren't you praising us a bit too much? *chuckle*

Spoiler: ~Price of the Morning~
Question: What number goes in the box?
Image

Spoiler: Chapter 2, spaceship on right
Juniper: It's a spaceship. Do aliens really exist?
Athena: Mr. Alien, if you're there, how about a card, huh? Heh, just kidding...
Huh? No way! A card that just fell from on top the spaceship!
Juniper: Wow! This morning, I was eating azuki bean mochi with my grandmother.
She told me this would be "getting mochi from the store". [TN: there's no wordplay here, but it means "getting something directly from the source"]
Athena: N... no way...

Quiz: ~At the Zoo~

Athena: Okay. How's that?
CORRECT
Juniper: Wow, Thena! You solved it just like that.
Athena: This sign was flipped upside-down...
Instead of NO17, it's supposed to say LION.
So, the animal that escaped the cage would have to be the lion!
Widget: Easy-peasy!

Spoiler: ~At the Zoo~
A dangerous criminal has escaped into a zoo at night. As the criminal escaped, they broke a lock on a cage. Once the lock broke, the cage became empty, and the sign fell off. The sign has "NO17" written. What animal was it that escaped out of the cage?

Question: Which animal escaped?
Image
["Tiger", "Lion", "Bear"]

Spoiler: Chapter 2, fence by right booster
Athena: Alright! I've found a card. Let's get to the challenge!
Juniper: Way to bring it, Thena!
Athena: Naturally! I could show you the results of my usual sprints!
Juniper: Sprints? Um, then would my usual knitting be useful here too?
Athena: That's it, that's the way! Make any little thing into a big one!

Quiz: ~Incredibly Obvious Weapon~

Athena: Okay. How's that?
CORRECT
Athena: This is pretty large-scale, but there's a simple trick to it.
After the killer drugged the victim with sleeping pills...
he lifted the prefabricated house with the crane.
Still groggy thanks to the pills, the victim then walked out the door when it was still up...
and fell to his death. After that, the killer put the house back down.
The evidence for that is the gap between the house's foundations and its position.
Juniper: The building was lifted up... I didn't think of that.
Thena, you're not just an attorney, you could even be a detective!
Athena: I don't have any plans for that yet. I don't lose in terms of my analytic skills, after all!

Spoiler: ~Incredibly Obvious Weapon~
At a certain construction site, the overseer at the site has died. The victim had fallen in front of the door of his prefabricated house. The cause of death was the impact from being beaten all over. The victim's blood contained small traces of a sleeping drug. Once again, the victim's final message was to his wife via cell phone.

Victim's wife: He had carelessly fallen asleep in the prefabricated house. He said he was feeling somewhat dizzy. So, I returned to look for him. Waaaaaaaah!

The killer was a worker on this site.

Question 1: What did the worker use to kill the overseer?
Image
Question 2: Provide evidence that this object was used.
[Point it out]

Spoiler: Chapter 2, right booster tip
Athena: This is a booster rocket... hm? Is that a card I see on its tip?
Juniper: Looks like there's a ladder next to it you can use. It's up high, so let me take care of it, okay?
Athena: That's my line! Just leave the dangerous places to me!
Juniper: Oh, no... what do we do then? We can't both climb up there together.
Athena: ...That would be the most dangerous way...

Quiz: ~What the Suspects Say~

Athena: Okay. How's that?
CORRECT
Athena: The main point to watch for in this quiz is the time on the clock in the interrogation room: 16:02.
The driver was normally supposed to pick up the victim at this time.
Then, wouldn't making an appointment for a beauty salon at that time be strange?
The victim was at home at 9 and was to arrive at the studio at 10...
That's an hour of driving away. So it really happened during the ride!
Juniper: Thena, your explanation is like a teacher's. Even I could understand that!
Oh, sensei... that's not quite right. You're an attorney.
A dependable attorney at the Wright Anything Agency, the one and only Ms. Cykes! [TN: "Kidzuki-sensei"]
Athena: Where did that come from? That was pretty exaggerated, eheheh.
But you can call me that from now on!

Spoiler: ~What the Suspects Say~
A famous actor on a TV station was killed in their dressing room. They would arrive every morning at 10:00, and leave at 16:00. This day, they arrived at 10 as usual, but the estimated time of death was at 14:00. The actor's schedule record that day ended just after the actor returned to the dressing room, and was attacked. After the crime was committed, there were three people were were immediately detained for questioning. None of the three have alibis. This is what each of them had to say.

Chauffeur: I am the victim's chauffeur who sees to their arrival and return.
As usual, I drove them here at 9 in the morning from their home. I did not meet them thereafter.
I have a very busy schedule, so I would not like to be late.
I have an appointment at a beauty salon at this moment. When will we finish up questioning?
Assistant: I'm an assistant at this station. When it was their turn to appear on-air, I went to call the victim...
but then, eeeek! They were already dead!
*sigh* Yesterday? I was working until late at night, and took a nap here at the station.
Actor: I'm an actor who used to work with the victim. Um, my apologies.
I was supposed to meet with the victim tonight for a game night. Look, I got their text message.
When the victim died, I was in my own dressing room.
I gathered up the other members of our group and we tried giving them a call.

Question 1: There is actually one suspicious person here. Who is it?
Image
["Chauffeur", "Assistant", "Actor"]
Question 2: What's the reason?
[TN: The answers to this question depend on which one you chose above. They include parts of their testimony.]

Spoiler: Chapter 2, rocket
Athena: There's even a card pasted on an open, obvious place like this...
Are they looking down on us? Yep, in the most irritating way!
Juniper: U-um... Thena. Be careful around the label glued on the floor...
Athena: Eh? Glue? ...What!? I can't move my foot! Nooooooo!

Athena: Whew, you saved me from that trap. Okay, time to regroup and defeat these quizzes!

Quiz: ~Treasure Hunt~

Athena: Okay. How's that?
CORRECT
Athena: Alright! This code has already been perfectly decoded!
Although it looks like you should read it line by line, if you read the first two columns...
it says "in the bulbs".
Then, tying it with the last line "I hid it", it becomes "I hid it in the bulbs"...
So, she hid the treasure in the bulb area of the flower bed!
Juniper: I see... So that's why the answer is "tulips and hyacinths".
Even treasure-hunting is their specialty! That's the Wright Anything Agency!

Spoiler: ~Treasure Hunt~
A little grade school girl has given her mother a riddle to solve. Whether they are word games, science experiments, or other things she learned at school, her mother loves to play with her.
[There's a notepad showing the riddle written like a poem. That's where the hint lies.]

Girl: I hid a treasure in Vitamin Square. Can you find where I put it?

While she tells her this, the little girl points to a flower bed behind her...
The flower bed is split up into groups of tulips and hyacinths, camomiles and lavenders, and roses and carnations. In front of each area of flowers, there are signs that read "bulbs", "edible flowers", and "selective breeding". Where could the little girl have hidden the treasure?

Question: Which area of the flower bed did she hide it in?
Image
["Tulips & hyacinths", "Camomiles and lavenders", "Roses and Carnations"]

Spoiler: Chapter 2, information board
Athena: If the screen here gives the details of the rocket, then this is... a fortune-telling.
"This week, the one wearing your hair in braids is in for a treat! Your lucky item is a lotus root."
Juniper: Really? That makes me happy.
Athena: "By that fact, the one wearing yellow is in trouble! Your problems will only continue, but don't cry over it."
Whaaaat!? Wait, what is this supposed to be? It's too suspicious. ...Let's move on.
"And with that, your present is this card! Don't mind the fortune, and go get your victory!"

Quiz: ~Soccer Player Murder Case~

Athena: Okay. How's that?
CORRECT
Athena: As I thought. This quiz has several things to watch out for to be able to understand it thoroughly.
In this dying message, only the B is of a different color. The killer must have added the A and C. Then, if you think about it without them, this wouldn't be a B...
Juniper: Oh, do you mean it's... a 13?
Athena: That's right! The killer has to be Number 13, Tarou Eesu!
Juniper: It's like adding just the right amount of [Japanese] pepper when I'm cooking...
Getting just the right person! Its name is Attorney Cykes!
Athena: Hehehe, given who I am, it's only the kind of logic that can give people a stinging freeze.

Spoiler: ~Soccer Player Murder Case~
At the Hinomaru Colosseum, a rocker has come upon a murder incident. The one who was killed is the soccer player Shuuto Tamao.
[TN: It's read "Tamao Shuuto" -> tama o shoot -> shoot the ball]
Before he could arrive, he was stabbed by some sort of cutlery and died almost immediately... The victim managed to leave some words on the floor. There are three suspects that have come to be questioned:
Yuuki Ashida, No. 7
Position: CB (center back)
Andrew B. Clark, No. 10
Position: MF (middle fielder)
Tarou Eesu, No. 13
Position: FW (forward)

Question 1: To whom is the dying message pointing out?
Image
Question 2: What is the dying message supposed to be?
["Name", "Number", "Position"]

Spoiler: Chapter 2, the safety rails
Athena: This is a good place to look up at the rocket. It's so huge, your head could hurt!
Juniper: They say the Earth is blue. Actually, it only looks that way from space.
I've thought about if I ever went to space... would my garden at home be fine without me?
Athena: ...I also thought about it. The agency hasn't yet fallen apart with me around.
...My feet are still firmly on the ground, and I plan to stay that way. Oh, hey. There's a card under my foot.

Quiz: ~Murder on the Ferris Wheel~

Athena: Okay. How's that?
CORRECT
Athena: My eyes couldn't possibly be fooled! The killer is suspect A.
He knew how many people were there in the labyrinth,
and he could only know that if he were looking from high up.
The killer just testified to what he saw from the Ferris wheel.
Juniper: Hooray! With that settled, the peace at the amusement park has been protected.
Athena: Wherever the place is, it'll come into view!
Juniper: Hehe. Thena, you've become really dependable.

Spoiler: ~Murder on the Ferris Wheel~
A murder takes place in an amusement park. The scene of the crime is inside a gondola on the Ferris wheel at the center of the park. The victim was struck on the chest and died instantly. When the gondola descended to the bottom... a person with a mask pushed aside the operator and disappeared into the crowd. After that, three suspects who matched the killer's physique were detained. Below is what each of them had to say.

Suspect A: At that time, I was in the huge labyrinth. There were only 3 people around in there... so I didn't meet with anyone.
Suspect B: I was riding the merry-go-round. It was just when my husband went to buy a drink, so I don't have an alibi.
After that, I wasn't feeling well, so I took a rest on a bench nearby.
Suspect C: At the time, it was just when I was buying a ticket at the entrance.
I have a fear of heights! I couldn't have ridden the Ferris wheel.
I thought I could head to the labyrinth first.

The killer is the one who has said something suspicious.

Question: Who is the killer?
Image
Question 2: So what is the suspicious thing that was said?
[Choose one of three]
[TN: the answers here depend on which you chose first; they include things in their testimonies]

Spoiler: Chapter 2, left booster tip
Athena: Oh, I see a card on its tip. How am I going to get up there...?
Juniper: Leave it to me!
Athena: Huh? Juni?
Juniper: Here we go! This way, using any gap between the spikes or pillars as a foothold...
Athena: (W-whoa! Juni just climbed up there like a squirrel up a tree!)
Juniper: Hehe, I remember harvesting from the biggest tangerine tree we have at home.
Theeeeena! Catch the caaard!

Quiz: ~A Broadcasted Murder~

Athena: Okay. How's that?
CORRECT
Athena: Okay! I've got it all down!
Since the question specifically said the "fifteenth night"...
In this video, there's a crescent moon that's taped! Naturally, the answer is here. [TN: yes, here's her name pun]
Juniper: Yep! There should have been a full moon out that night.
Thena's logic is like the moon; shining bright upon the truth!
Athena: Oh, stop it. Hahaha. Well, my name does have the character for the moon in it!

Spoiler: ~A Broadcasted Murder~
The cold worsened on the fifteenth night. The police received a phone call.

Criminal: I've begun a live broadcast of the murder.
This video is being recorded on the roof of a building near the police department~! Isn't this fun?

The video that was sent over was... the moment the murderer had killed his victim. As soon as they finished watching, the police hurried to the identified building. However, only the bloodstain and the cell phone the murderer used were left at the scene. Neither the victim nor the body were there. The police took only 3 minutes to arrive on scene. At this time, the detective who confirmed the video's legitimacy let out a great yell.

Detective: Dammit! We've been tricked by the killer. There was something suspicious about that video anyway!

Point out the suspicious point in the video.

Question: Where is the suspicious point in this video?

Spoiler: Chapter 2, jacket on display
Athena: Oh, looks like there's a card in the jacket's pocket! Okay! First thing is to break open this glass...
Juniper: Thena, wait! This glass looks like it can slide open.
Come on. Breaking the glass would be dangerous without using some tools.
Athena: (So, you're saying it's OK to break the glass, huh...?)

Quiz: ~The Pickpocket's Quick Wit~

Athena: Okay. How's that?
CORRECT
Juniper: It looks like you're correct!
Athena: Heheheh. With me around, it's all done before breakfast! Just kidding.
By addressing the envelope to himself and slipping it into the postbox...
Juniper: Oh, that's right! The envelope would slip away from the scene for him to later retrieve it.
And so, many days later, it'd be delivered right to his home.
Athena: I could solve this kind of quiz without any problem!

Spoiler: ~The Pickpocket's Quick Wit~
My name is Kaneichi the Pickpocket.
[TN: lit. "Money is no. 1"]
I'm a pretty well-known guy in this trade... but this time I messed up. While I was taking the envelope that held the goods somewhere, I was caught by some officers patrolling the area. They chased after me just 10 meters behind. It was tough to get rid of the goods that way.

Afterward, the officers captured Kaneichi. Yet, the goods weren't with him. According to the escape route he used, he didn't enter any place. Point out where Kaneichi hid the goods.

Question: Where did Kaneichi hide the goods?
Image
[TN: The 〒 symbol on that box refers to the Postal Service.]

Spoiler: Chapter 2, photos on right
Athena: Thinking about this photo... why don't we take a picture with everyone at the agency next time?
Juniper: Huh? You mean with A-Apollo...? Apollo and me...
Athena: Um, the agency also has Mr. Wright and Trucy...
Juniper: Ah! Wah... I, um, ooh. Thena... you're being mean.
Athena: W-wait a sec... whaa!? Oh, it's a card! Let's try the quiz, okay?

Quiz: ~Four-word Idioms~

Athena: Okay. How's that?
CORRECT
Athena: Except for one of them, all of these idioms use the kanji of body parts.
"眉" "目" 秀麗 [TN: handsomeness; body part: eyebrow]
岡 "目" 八 "目" [TN: bystander's vantage point; bp: eye]
安 "心" 立命 [TN: spiritual peace & enlightenment; bp: heart]
高 "手" 小 "手" [TN: bound arms and legs; bp: hand]
中肉中 "背" [TN: medium build; bp: back]
二人三 "脚" [TN: three-legged race; bp: leg]
Things like that.
The human figure in the background corresponding with the idioms' positions is the hint.
But 質実剛健 doesn't use a body part in it. [TN: unaffected & sincere, with fortitude & vigor]
So, this idiom has to be the words the killer wrote in.
If you think about it like this [without it], the bloodstained words are...
麗, 岡, 立, 小, 中, and 二. There are even extra bloody prints left...
Putting all these words together, the only possible name is... Urara Tatenaka!
Juniper: Wow! With you around, Thena, we can solve anything!
Athena: Oh, you really think so...? (Well, duh.)
Juniper: By now, you should be world-famous, shouldn't you?
The attorney of the century, her name is Attorney Athena Cykes!
Athena: (It's odd for Juni to be this high in spirits...)
(Is it because I'm just that awesome? Aw, I'm getting embarrassed!)

Spoiler: ~Four-word Idioms~
An old man has been murdered in his apartment room. The old man had been writing, as a hobby, four-word idioms with a rule when he was attacked. This is the note that was found at the scene. Just before his death, the old man left prints of blood on the note, leaving the name of his killer. The killer then thought to rip up the note and throw it away, but came up with another idea and decided not to. That idea was to add another four-word idiom and more bloody prints. That way, the suspects would increase, and the police would be left confused. There are 3 suspects: Urara Tatenaka, Kenji Konaka, and Minoru Takaoka. The killer didn't know the old man had a certain rule when writing those idioms, so there is one new idiom among them.

Question 1: What is the important rule for this note?
Image
["The idioms' meaning", "The way to read the idioms", "The idioms' positions"]
Question 2: Which four-word idiom did the killer add?
[Point it out]
Question 3: Therefore, the person who played the trick... that is, the killer is...?
[Choose one of those three people]
[TN: This one needs a lot of kanji recognition to get right. The hint is in what kanji the idioms use. Check the answer above.]

Spoiler: Chapter 2, astronaut suit
Athena: An astronaut suit is more like this... they couldn't make it easier to move around in?
Juniper: Certainly, the design is one with approximate margins.
Oh, that's it! How about one with a flowery design? I'm sure people would like that.
Athena: Umm, I'd think a more battle-ready design would fit better... hey, I found a card!

Quiz: ~Moment of Deception~

Athena: Okay. How's that?
CORRECT
Juniper: You did it, Thena! But why is the vinyl tape necessary?
Athena: If you stick this black tape over the top right of the 8...
it becomes a 6, so it looks like it's still 6:30!
Juniper: Oh, well... I think it'd be better to just confess.

Spoiler: ~Moment of Deception~
I really did it now. I promised to get up at 6:30, but I overslept. The time is already 8:30. If I could do something to this to trick the time... is what I thought, so I tried turning back the clock, but this clock is pretty complicated to operate, and I don't know how to return it to the right time again. There's some white and black vinyl tape in the room. There are also a screwdriver set, and a mikan on the kotatsu. What should I use here to trick the time? For now, I need to somehow pull through and I don't care if I have to confess later!

Question 1: What tool should be used to trick the time?
Image
["Vinyl tape", "Screwdriver set", "Mikan on the kotatsu"]
Question 2: Where on the clock should it be used?
[Point it out]

Spoiler: Chapter 2, photos on left
Juniper: There's a card among the photos! Speaking of which, I sometimes like to take pictures.
Athena: Oh? So what are they of? I wanna see.
Juniper: Um, they're pictures of things like flowers blooming on the side of a cliff and a wolf hunting dark in the night.
Just some things nearby my home. I'm not that good with it, so it's kind of embarrassing...
Athena: (I'd be more afraid of things near Juni's home. The forest wilderness isn't just for show...)

Quiz: ~The Nonexistent Phone at the Scene~

Athena: Okay. How's that?
CORRECT
Athena: There was a humming sound for 30 minutes by the railroad crossing, wasn't there?
It's strange that the answering machine couldn't record any other sounds while the train passed by!
Well, this is a question over the phone service. I'd need a quiz that makes sound to know.
Juniper: Thena, no sound can escape your ears, almost like ears of the underworld.
Athena: U-underworld... Even if you're trying to complement me, it didn't really make me feel so happy...
Juniper: Really? Then, what about an elephant's ears? Mr. elephant is really good at hearing things.
Athena: Elephant... That's the first time I've been compared to an elephant...

Spoiler: ~The Nonexistent Phone at the Scene~
A male musician's body has been found in his house. The estimated time of death was 18:00 the day before. It appears to be a murder. The autopsy report suggests the suspect is a female pupil of the musician, who strangled him to death.

Pupil: At that time, I was making a call to my teacher at his house.
I thought I heard a pleasant melody play. It wasn't coming from the answering machine, so it kept playing. It's an extremely popular tune. I was supposed to keep it with me, but I forgot my cell phone, so I had to use a phone booth near the railroad crossing. Since it was during rush hours, there were lots of people taking the train who saw me there.

The answering machine recorded the call around the time the victim was murdered. There was an awful humming sound for 30 minutes, and any other sounds couldn't be recorded. The song she heard that confirmed her alibi was correct. However, there is actually a strange point about her alibi.

Question: What is it?
Image
["Time of the call", "Forgetting her phone", "The answering machine's humming"]

Spoiler: Chapter 2, part 2 end
Athena: Alright! The door opened!
Apollo: Juniper, Athena, are you two fine?
Juniper: Apollo! You came to save me!
I could be saved by you anytime...
Apollo: Yeah, looks like I was a little late.
But now that I'm here, you can relax!
Athena: (Today, Apollo sure seems dependable... sort of.)
Apollo: Trucy's heading over to the office with Mr. Wright.
Before we catch that guy called Quizkun, we should hurry back and meet up with them.

Apollo: ! It's a call from Quizkun.
Athena: Apollo, could you pass me that phone?
H-hello? ...Show your true self!
Quizkun: Haahahaha! So, you correctly answered all of the quizzes!
How-eh-ver! If you don't solve this one last quiz, then you can't get out.
Apollo: Aaah! The door locked itself up again!
...Athena... What do we do...
Athena: (...As I thought, he's not so dependable... sort of.)
Ugh, use your head! This person is Quizkun, right?
In that case, we just have to beat him up!
Apollo: Beat him up... but how?
Juniper: Of course! We should solve his logic quiz.
With both Apollo and you, Thena, you guys can solve any problem!
Athena: That's right, Juni!
We'll blow it into itty-bitty pieces!
Apollo: That's a bit extreme, but we'll try it for now.
Let's show that Quizkun the power of us young attorneys!
Quizkun: And now, here is the final question! Can you guys solve this one?
Athena: ! There's an image of a card shown on the information board!
Let's hurry and check it out!

Athena: Look, hurry! Apollo, Juni, hurry up!
Apollo: No need to be in such a rush. The question isn't going anywhere.
Athena: What if it does? What'll we do then!?
Apollo: Oh, boy.

Quiz: ~A Murdering Actress~

Spoiler: ~A Murdering Actress~
A new actress at Global Studios has been murdered in the meeting room for the screening of lead roles. The suspects are the three actresses, Satomi Yuri (百合里美), Hina Mitsuki (美月日奈), Akiko Tsukihana (月華明子). A security guard witnessed the killer fleeing the scene.

Guard: The killer must be that Akimi (明美) girl. This little old lady saw the whole thing.
She was running as fast as she could from the scene through the hall.
There was a mirror at the end of the hall, you know.
As she passed the corner, she was shown in the mirror for an instant.
It was just an instant, so I couldn't see her face.
But you see, I'm what you call a professional. I wouldn't overlook a major clue.
There was a nameplate on the right side of her chest!
I saw that little thing through the mirror. I couldn't read the whole thing, though.
There really was "Akimi" on that nameplate, what a terrifying incident, there was never anything like this when I was young, honestly just how did this world come to this, it's this young lady's fault that it's become so spoiled, I at least have enough self-control, it really gets under my nails...

This is what the security guard said, but there isn't a suspect named Akimi.

Question: Who is the killer?
Image
[TN: Since Japanese names are written surname, first-name, you just need to know how they'd look in a mirror.]

Spoiler: Chapter 2 conclusion
Athena: The answer is obviously Hina Mitsuki!
Quizkun: Hehehe. And why do you say it's her?
Athena: If you look at "美月日奈" backwards, like in a mirror...
It'd be like this!
[TN: shown is 奈日月美]
Juniper: Ah! This part...
you can read it as Akimi!
Apollo: Oh, right. The security guard must have seen these characters.
Athena: Heheheh! How's that, Quizkun!
CORRECT
Athena: Yeaaah!
Apollo: Alright! We've cleared the final question! Things are looking up, Athena.
Athena: It's 'cause I've been trained in psychology tests! I can take whatever question that comes!
Quizkun: Marvelous! You all are wonderful attorneys!
Athena: Quizkun! Just who are you anyway?
Juniper: Not showing yourself is unfair!
Quizkun: If you want to meet me that badly, come to the Themis Law Academy.
I'll be waiting for you in the "Grand Lecture Hall"...!

Athena: Guh. That's all he says before he hangs up on us.
Apollo: Oh, the door opened. Let's get out of here already.
Athena: Yeah! And we'll go take it out on Quizkun!
Apollo: Should we really go there? I say it sounds kinda suspicious.
Juniper: What are you saying, Apollo!?
We have to go, or you guys wouldn't become magnificent attorneys.
Apollo: Magnificent attorneys?
...I don't know what's going on here, but let's get going.
Juniper: Themis Law Academy is where I go to school.
I could guide you two there.

Same day, 2:21 pm
Themis Law Academy, Grand Lecture Hall

Trucy: Daddy! Apollo and Athena are here.
Phoenix: Thank goodness...! Are you two okay?
...Wait, is Juniper doing okay?
Apollo: Yeah, she's just fine.
Athena: But she told us, "I have some work to do for the school, so I have to go now."
And she left for home.
Phoenix: She has... "work to do"? (What is that about?)
Apollo: Well, whatever just happened, I'm glad she's headed for home.
...And now that we're here, what are we supposed to do?
Athena: Have a one-on-one fight and beat the heck out of Quizkun.
Apollo: Why a one-on-one fight...?
Pearl: There must be something to celebrate everyone's bravery, isn't there?
[applause & cheers]
Quizkun: Marvelous! Congratulations, all you attorneys, you've correctly answered every quiz question!
Phoenix: (What the? His voice is coming out from the speakers in the hall.)
Quizkun: It is truly as we had said, you all are "magnificent attorneys"!
Athena: Magnificent?
Apollo: Attorneys...?
Phoenix: I don't ever remember hearing that, though.
Pearl: Oh. Mr. Nick, you didn't know?
Trucy and I signed up for this!
Phoenix: ...Could you please tell me just what's going on here.
Trucy: All those logic quizzes you guys just solved were for a project featured on our local TV station.
Pearl: We signed up for the program "Defender King", which is about making magnificent attorneys after they've solved lots of quizzes!
I thought it would help show the world how amazing you all are, Mr. Nick.
Phoenix: W-whaaaaat!?
(We were all a part of that program with such an embarrassing name...!?)
Quizkun: To show everyone your magnificence and cool under pressure, we had to lock you all up!
Trucy: Pearls and I were also acting through a script.
Phoenix: Then, was Juniper also...?
Trucy: Yep! When we asked her, Juniper said she wanted to help.
Weren't you all supposed to have your scripts delivered to you from the TV station?
Phoenix: We never received anything like that. Did you two know?
Apollo: I didn't know either.
Athena: ...
Phoenix: ? Athena, did you just think of something?
Athena: I, I'm sorry!
Yesterday during our big cleanup, I might have accidentally thrown away the envelope with the script in it.
It had this suspicious name "Defender King" written on it...
I mistook it for some sort of strange invitation.
Apollo: ...Well, it sure is suspicious, but don't just throw things away on your own.
Quizkun: Even if you've lost the script, you still managed to scratch by!
You have to admit that you're all magnificent attorneys.
How-eh-ever! The real test starts from here.
Phoenix: Huh?
Quizkun: There's somewhere I'd like you three to go.
There, you will take a test that will measure your skills as attorneys!
Apollo: A t-test...? Huh, it sounds kinda nostalgic.
Phoenix: I really don't want to take any test at my age...
Quizkun: Just for you, we've selected a wide-open and popular local site.
And same as before, this site will have hidden quizzes scattered around.
Now, please take my marvelous test!
Apollo: Now that it's come to this, I'm giving it my all.
I'd like to see just how much I've grown as an attorney.
Phoenix: ...I guess there's no helping it. I'll give it a try myself.
Athena, what are you going to do?

Apollo: ...Huh? Athena's not here.
Trucy: Whaaat!? But she was here just a while ago!
Pearl: W-what if...!
Could it be that she has been "spirited away"?
Phoenix: S-spirited away?
Pearl: I've heard of it before! This school is known to have its "seven great mysteries"...
One of them tells of students mysteriously vanishing without a trace.
Trucy: I've heard of it too! What do we do, Daddy!?
Apollo: Athena didn't bring her phone with her. ...I'm a bit worried.
Phoenix: (Just where did Athena go?)
(She... couldn't possibly have been spirited away.)
(Anyway, we need to go look for her!)

To be continued...

Thanks a lot for this, it's really helpful for people who don't have access to the quizzes.

To be continued...

...The story here sure is ridiculous.

Could someone take screenshots? These quiz questions are sometimes confusing to follow without pictures.

Spoiler: Chapter 3 Intro
Apollo: Every one of us at the agency have been locked in at a famous place.
We've succeeded in solving logic quizzes and escaping completely unharmed.
But, after all this, it turned out that we were being aired on a TV program.
Since Athena accidentally tossed away our scripts and notes, we didn't have any idea.
Amid all the bustle, Athena somehow disappeared.
Just where could she have gone to...?

Some day, 2:50 pm
Themis Law Academy, Grand Lecture Hall

Apollo: Athena... I haven't found her yet.
Pearl: I knew it. She really had been "spirited away", hasn't she?
Apollo: Maybe she just didn't want to be a part of this program?
Phoenix: Well, I know how that feels. ...What a strange name for a program.
Quizkun: Hey, whoa. Please don't criticize it so openly like that in front of me!
Phoenix: (...Oh. I forgot he could still hear us.)
Trucy: Daddy, we went off to look for help, and got two people from the program to come with us.
Pearl: We will try to find Athena.
Never mind those seven great mysteries... my spiritual power will blow them away!
Phoenix: Thank you, girls... Then, I'll leave that to you two.
Quizkun: It seems everything has been settled! Then, let the explanation of the rules begin!

Same day, a certain time
???????????

Athena: Heheheheh. I'm already one step ahead.
The one who will become the Attorney "King" is me, Athena Cykes!
Pearl: Oh! Athena...! So you're alright!
Athena: ! You found me.
Pearl: I was worried that you had been spirited away!
Athena: S-spirited away...? (She was worried about that?)
Pearl: Why did you suddenly disappear like that?
Athena: Well, you see...
After I analyzed Quizkun's heart, I knew which local site he meant.
Besides, that "test" is supposed to have precedence, isn't it?
Pearl: I suppose so. It seems to be a program about putting attorney skills to the test.
Athena: If we're talking about "victory", it doesn't matter who the opponent is. It's my creed to give my all to the challenge.
Even if we are friends, from here on out, I won't lose even once!
Pearl: Hehe. Athena, you're quite the determined fighter, aren't you?
Athena: (...Even though she's younger than me, she acts like an adult toward me.)
Widget: She's an adult!
Athena: Ack! Widget, I told you!
Pearl: ? Well, there certainly is an "adult" feeling to this room.
Athena: (It's like she's trying to mess with me or something...)
...Okay, then. Let's get looking for that test's questions!
Pearl: Alright. I'll be cheering for you. Let us work hard together.
Athena: Thanks!
I'll show you the true power of the Deduction Queen who trained in America!
[TN: Technically, it's the character for "king", but it's more suitable this way.]
Pearl: Wow! You're actually a Deduction Queen?
Athena: (I didn't really think about that just now.)

Spoiler: Chapter 3, Door to elevators
Pearl: ! Athena, why are you suddenly rushing out of here?
Athena: Look, if we charge at this door, I'm sure it'll open right up...
Pearl: If the doors open right up, there wouldn't be any trouble to do so!
Athena: There's a quiz card caught in the door! The end result turned out all right...

Quiz: ~Test for the Killer~

Athena: Now, let it be revealed!
CORRECT
Athena: Yeah! I am so awesome!
Widget: Awe-some!
Pearl: You are indeed awesome, Athena.
But if the C person got all the answers wrong, how could she be the killer?
Athena: How do you think the killer would answer all 30 questions? Not properly.
Pearl: Even if her luck was really bad, she should at least get one question right... oh!
Athena: All wrong answers... If you think it another way, she would know the answers to all of the questions.
She would know that she's the killer and pretend not to know anything at all.
That's why, this C person is very likely to have picked all the wrong answers on purpose!
Pearl: So, Ms. C would be the most likely to be the killer.
Even with just a little information, you understood it so thoroughly...
No matter the question, let it come! Athena Cykes is right here!
Athena: (It sounded like an advertisement on TV, but it does make me feel a bit happy...)

Spoiler: ~Test for the Killer~
A young lady has been killed in her apartment. The investigation results suggested the killer who strangled her was one of her friends, labeled A, B, and C. The police try a test on the suspects, should they hear anything that seems to hide the circumstances around the victim's death... They tested the suspects for something only the killer would know. They gave the suspects 30 questions, in the O/X format, about the circumstances, the cause of death, etc. The results were: A got 20 correct, B got 14 correct, and C got none correct.

Question: Which of the suspects is the most likely to be the killer?

Spoiler: Chapter 3, table on right
Pearl: What exactly is this suspicious-looking device?
Athena: It looks like something to drink melon soda with.
Pearl: Oh, wow! If there are two sides to drink from...
When a man and woman's eyes meet and they fall in love, they could come here to whisper about their love.
Athena: (I'd think that this place is a little too open for snapshots...)
! Never mind that, there's a card left on the table!

Quiz: ~The First to Discover~

Athena: Now, let it be revealed!
CORRECT
Athena: Yeees! I got it right, Pearly!
Pearl: Congratulations, Athena!
But I don't quite understand what is so strange about that part.
Athena: Pearly, if you were in the city and happened upon this person like this, what would you do?
Pearl: Let me think...
He would look to be sleeping, so I would try to wake him up.
Athena: That's right. This body doesn't have any outer wounds on it...
In that case, he would appear to simply be sleeping at first glance.
And yet, could someone who didn't approach the body recognize this as a dead body?
Pearl: I see. That is quite strange.
Whatever the tiny contradiction, it can't escape Athena!
Athena: That's right, since I'm the Deduction Queen!

Spoiler: ~The First to Discover~
On the morning of a spring day, the police receive a 110 [emergency] call.

Phone: A-a dead body! I found a dead body!

The people who hurried onto the last train had been sleeping or doing other things then, but once the body was found, there was mass panic. The police rushed off to the scene downtown. They find a person there who isn't moving. He has already died. The detective who rushed to the scene began to question the witness first to find the body.

Witness: It was a clear morning at that time, and I was enjoying a walk...
Once I found a person sitting and leaning against the telephone pole, I hurried to report it.
I didn't touch the body.
If had left any prints or markings, I could be suspected, after all.
I didn't even approach the body enough to be able to touch it. Now my long-awaited weekend is ruined.

Question: There is something suspicious about that testimony. What testimony is it?
Image
[Choose from Enjoying a walk, Finding a fallen person, Didn't approach]

Spoiler: Chapter 3, rightmost ceiling light
Athena: Could you try to explain what's so suspicious about this light fixture?
Pearl: ...But it appears to be a normal light fixture to me.
Athena: (She countered that so naturally!)
Pearl: That aside, the light fixture has a card taped beside it.

Quiz: ~Murder on a Rainy Night~

Athena: Now, let it be revealed!
CORRECT
Athena: Whew. I got it right somehow.
Pearl: It was a rather challenging question.
But to catch onto the mud on their feet, that's Athena for you!
Athena: The guests all rushed into the courtyard when it was still raining hard.
It's why three of them have their feet soiled.
But only this man doesn't have his feet soiled.
Pearl: There's only one way to get to that outer room...
This person had been in the victim's room before the rain started falling.
Athena: That's right. Therefore, this man has to be the killer.
Pearl: Even with such a small clue like this, you still got the answer right...
It's only natural for you to take the place as "King"!

Spoiler: ~Murder on a Rainy Night~
It was on a certain stormy night. An incident took place at an old hotel. A scream was heard in an outer room. Whatever happened, several guests in the building's lobby fled into the courtyard toward the scream. Once they open the door, there was only one man who's fallen at the center of the room. It seems he was somehow killed just after that scream was heard. The killer is among these four people who rushed over to the victim... but who is the killer?

Question 1: Who is the killer?
Image
Question 2: Where is the evidence that this person is the killer?
[Point it out]

Spoiler: Chapter 3, mirror
Pearl: What a large mirror... When you stare at it, it seems to draw you in.
Athena: Pearly! If you're not careful, you might actually get sucked in!
Pearl: Is that so? There's such a mirror like that here too?
I thought the Secret Mirror only existed in Kurain Village.
Athena: (I was just kidding... but does such a mirror really exist?)
Ah, Pearly. There's a card below the mirror.

Quiz: ~Conflicting Testimony~

Athena: Now, let it be revealed!
CORRECT
Athena: Alright! I got this one down too!
Pearl: That's good for you, Athena.
But why is Mr. Hirokawa the killer?
These testimonies contradict each other!
Athena: Hair, facial hair, glasses, etc. are things that can easily be changed.
After Mr. Hirokawa was seen, he cut his hair and facial hair.
But height and weight aren't things that can be altered that quickly, right?
Pearl: ! So, the overweight and short person is the killer.
Athena: Yep, and so, it's none other than Futoshi Hirokawa!
Pearl: As expected of you, Athena! I still have much to learn myself!

Spoiler: ~Conflicting Testimony~
A salesman has been murdered in his apartment. The suspects gathered come to these 3 people. Also, there were 3 others who were witnesses that saw where the murderer fled to.

Witness A: The killer had facial hair and wore glasses.
Witness B: The killer was fat and kind of short.
Witness C: The killer I saw had long hair... but was a man.

None of the witnesses are lying.

Question: Given the testimonies above, please suggest who is the killer.
Image
[Choose a name: Koyuu Takayama, Futoshi Hirokawa, Tarou Hosomi]
[TN: The names are pending, but the puns are obvious: first guy is tall, the second guy is fat, and the third has wavy hair.]

Spoiler: Chapter 3, rightmost chair
Athena: I'm tired. Could we rest for a bit?
Pearl: Right now, we don't have time to stand around!
If you're going to be like this, your title of Deduction Queen will be shamed.
For the future of the Wright Anything Agency, we must actively take on the challenge.
Athena: ...I know, Pearly. (She seems unusually fired up...)
Pearl: There is a card beside the chair.

Quiz: ~Poison Tasting~

Athena: Now, let it be revealed!
CORRECT
Athena: Yeeah! Correct, and not a problem!
Pearl: You did it, Athena!
I thought the place with the lipstick was going to be it.
Athena: If her senior hadn't drunk from the same place, that lady wouldn't have trusted her so much.
But the poison wasn't put on there...
Pearl: So it must have been put in the ice instead, right?
When her senior drank the coffee, the ice hadn't melted yet.
And that's why she was alright after drinking it.
Athena: (I had a good start going, but it withered away by the end...)

Spoiler: ~Poison Tasting~
To return the money she had borrowed, a lady visited her senior's [read: senpai] room. Her senior brought her ice coffee, but because she was afraid that it was poisoned, she didn't put it to her mouth. Upon seeing that, her senior said...

Senpai: Ahaha. I didn't put any poison in there! See?

And, she took the glass to her lips and drank it thirstily. Relieved to see that, the lady then drank from her glass. After 15 minutes, when the discussion was finally settled, the lady who drank her coffee after... she suffered intense pain and her life suddenly ended. Keep the following in mind.

1. The lady's lipstick is pink, and her senior's is red.
2. Since the senior first sampled the drink, she did not touch the lady's glass thereafter.

This is the condition of the scene after the victim knocked over her glass. The poison is present somewhere within this picture. Where was the poison?

Question: Where had there been poison?

Spoiler: Chapter 3, anti-g training gyroscope(?)
Pearl: Just by looking at it, it makes my eyes spin...
Athena: Ah, there's a quiz card taped to the seat!
Pearl: ...Athena, I'll leave the rest to you...
Athena: (Her eyes are spinning before I've even solved the quiz, huh...?)

Quiz: ~An Unfaithful Excuse~

Athena: Now, let it be revealed!
CORRECT
Athena: Yahoo! I knew I could do it!
Pearl: Impressive!
But... Why did you know that Sayaka-san wasn't his cousin?
Athena: This guy said his parents were only children, didn't he?
Pearly, do you know what is necessary for someone to be a cousin?
Pearl: My cousin is Mystic Maya because she is the daughter of my mother's sister...
Oh! He had said that neither his father nor his mother had siblings...
so this person wouldn't be able to have a cousin!
Athena: That's it! Therefore, this guy is lying about his affair!
Pearl: Unforgivable! Where is this person at the moment?
Athena: Um, Pearly. It's just a question...

Spoiler: ~A Unfaithful Excuse~
There was a call from a girl named "Sayaka" on my boyfriend's cellphone. However, my name isn't "Sayaka". When I questioned him about it, this is what he had to say.

Boyfriend: Ah, Sayaka is my little cousin. Didn't I tell you already?
Since she just entered my college, I met with her a week ago.
Why did you call me in the middle of the night? Do you have tomorrow off?
You said having a part-time job is busy work. You should head home.
You're working at a convenience store to help pay for tuition, after all.
I'm also an only child, and so were both my parents.
You're like a sister, worrying over nothing.

Ugh... There was clearly something contradictory he just said.

Question: What is the contradicting statement?
Image
[Choose: "Sayaka is my cousin", "She just entered my college", "A part-time job is busy work"]

Spoiler: Chapter 3, closed pod
Pearl: This capsule seems to be closed tight.
Athena: Hmm. No matter how much I try, it won't open, huh?
Pearl: If someone had been shut inside, they may be in trouble!
I will try to help them!
Athena: It's fine! I don't think there's anyone in there anyway!
Ah, there's a quiz card taped on the lid!

Quiz: ~The Man Who Jumped~

Athena: Now, let it be revealed!
CORRECT
Athena: Naturally. I am the the Deduction Queen, prepped and trained in America!
Pearl: As expected of you, Ms. Deduction Queen!
Athena: (...She answered as normal, but it's a bit embarrassing for me.)
Pearl: But what is so strange about what's just been discussed?
Athena: This officer said this was the first time he heard of this incident.
And yet, he knew that this was the top floor of a 30-story building, right?
Pearl: Oh! Certainly, that detective hadn't yet...
said anything about the 30 stories or the top floor.
Athena: Yep. Furthermore, based on this picture alone, you wouldn't guess that it's the top floor.
Pearl: I do agree. But...
Even after we've answered the question, the capsule still won't open...
Athena: (You don't have to be so sad about that.)

Spoiler: ~The Man Who Jumped~
While a certain detective looks over a photo, he racks his brain. It's a picture of the top floor in a 30-story apartment building. There, he talks with his colleague, a fellow police officer.

Officer: Thank you very much [for coming]. What is this photo?
Detective: The victim was pushed off from this balcony here, pal.
It looks like he didn't put up resistance before he fell 30 stories.
It was on the news highlights, pal. Didn't you read it?
Officer: Ah well, I didn't read it, so this is the first time I've heard of it...
Detective: Somehow, there are no signs of a killer, even after careful investigation all over.
Officer: What about this statue of "The Thinker"? Isn't there something strange about it?
Detective: Hmm. The victim wasn't hit by anything; he was pushed to his death.
Officer: Then, what about the balcony rail? It's the top floor, but isn't it a bit short?
Detective: ...Nah, it looks normal to me, pal.
Officer: Hmm. Then, what about this phone?
For there to be a dial phone in this day and age...
Detective: ! ...Hey, wait a sec, pal!
You! You said something pretty suspicious just now!

As the detective has suspected, this officer did say something contradictory.

Question 1: About what was it that he said?
Image
[Choose: "The Thinker statue", "The balcony rail", "The phone"]
Question 2: What does it contradict?
[Choose: *these answers depend on what is chosen*]

Spoiler: Chapter 3, chair in middle
Athena: Look, Pearly! It's a suspicious-looking chair!
Pearl: ? Athena, it doesn't seem like anything suspicious to me...
Athena: Not very suspicious places are actually suspicious.
Look, the suspicious chair has been hiding a card.

Quiz: ~The Killer Is the Son?~

Athena: Now, let it be revealed!
CORRECT
Athena: Only to be expected! I got it perfect!
Widget: Perfeeect!
Pearl: Athena, you've done it. But what was she lying about?
Athena: This suspect is blind, right?
In that case, he wouldn't notice if the house suddenly had a power outage.
Pearl: I see! So that's what it is.
Then, the brother being surprised would have to be a lie.
I thought the part about the radio was suspicious.
Athena: Well, there was a blackout. The radio wouldn't have any electricity to run it.
Besides, the little sister was in her futon when the power went out.
That's why she didn't notice the blackout either.
Pearl: That way, the little sister would find the quiet radio strange, is that right?
You would even understand a question about not being able to hear something. That's impressive!
Athena: Well, an attorney like me would know things like this... ya know?
Pearl: Zvarri, to uncover the killer's lies! That's the one and only Wright Anything Agency!
Athena: Instead of the agency, couldn't you praise me...?

Spoiler: ~The Killer Is the Son?~
The owner of a certain home has been murdered. The investigations have led to the victim's son being arrested. The suspect is blind, but it is still possible for him to have committed the crime. This is what the prosecutor on the case has claimed. There are three people that have taken the witness stand, the suspect's mother, younger sister, and older sister.

Mother: My son, to have killed my husband...? That child couldn't possibly be the murderer!
At the time, I had been reading a book in my room.
When it happened, it was 1:00 in the morning, wasn't it?
Exactly at that moment, there was a blackout. I stopped reading and went to bed.
Little Sister: At the time of the crime, I was dozing off in my futon.
Thinking about it, I'd usually hear the sound of my brother listening to the radio, but
that night, I didn't hear anything, so I thought it was strange.
I thought so. Brother really is the killer, huh...?
Big Sister: At the time the crime happened, I was using the restroom.
Around then, the lights went out, so we had a blackout, right?
As I hurried out in surprise, I saw my brother leaving my father's room.
He was also surprised to be in complete darkness due to the outage...
He was looking around here and there and acting pretty suspiciously.

Question 1: Of the three here who have testified, which one of them is lying?
Image
Question 2: What part did she lie about?
[Choose: one of those testimony statements]

Spoiler: Chapter 3, open pod
Pearl: A capsule has "indeed" been left open.
Athena: Indeed, it appears this thing has "indeed" been left open!
Pearl: Please take a look! A quiz card has "indeed" been hidden inside.
Athena: Now, let us "indeed" solve this quiz once and for all!

Quiz: ~The Disappeared Answers Key~

Athena: Now, let it be revealed!
CORRECT
Athena: Alright! Completely correct!
Pearl: Well done, Athena!
By the way, why is the janitor the culprit?
Athena: Take a good look around the crime scene.
If that ball was really used to break the window from outside...
Wouldn't the glass fall on top of the table, like this?
Pearl: Oh! It's true. But, what does this mean?
Athena: It means the glass was broken from inside.
Pearl: Which is to say, whoever broke the glass from inside the room is the culprit...
So, it would mean the janitor is the culprit, wouldn't it?
Athena: Hehe, no problem at all.
Pearl: Whatever evil that lurks, it can't escape that outstretched finger point!
Athena: (Pearly sure is in good spirits, 'cause of the TV program and all.)

Spoiler: ~The Disappeared Answers Key~
This is an incident that has taken place at Themis Legal Academy. One day, a staff member's room has been broken into, and an answers key sheet has been stolen. The janitor left in charge of the room had this to say.

Janitor: Last night, I locked up the window and door tight before I went home.
Since I brought the keys with me as I headed out, no one could have entered.
I think that's why the culprit had to break the window glass with the baseball that rolled in here,
and sneak in to steal the answers key.

There were 2 students attending school early in the morning on this day. One is from the school's baseball team. The other is an archery ace.

Question: Who is the culprit who entered the room and stole the answers key?
Image
[Choose: Baseball player, Archery ace, Janitor]

Spoiler: Chapter 3, remote switch
Athena: Ho! I've found a suspicious remote switch in the table!
Pearl: You can say it's suspicious, yet on the other hand, you'd like to touch it!
Now, Athena! Let's try pressing the switch!
Athena: (She really wants to do it. I guess we have no choice then...)
Pearl: Ah! A card fell out from inside the table.

Quiz: ~Habit~

Athena: Now, let it be revealed!
CORRECT
Athena: Yes, I did it, Pearly! I got it right!
Pearl: Very good, Athena!
But why was the poison found on the bread?
Athena: The killer used the victim's habit of folding his arms.
As he folded his arms, his hands would naturally touch his jacket.
Pearl: Ah! So then, if the poison was smeared onto the jacket sleeves...
Athena: That's right! The poison smeared on the jacket would get onto the victim's hands.
After that, if you think about which food would he use his hands to touch...
Pearl: ! All the dishes except the bread use a spoon or fork.
Athena: You got it! By the way, if you look at it psychoanalytically,
If he'd fold his arms so much, it's evidence of how cautious he'd be around his companion.
Pearl: As expected of an attorney with psychoanalysis skills!

Spoiler: ~Habit~
While a man was dining, he spit out blood and fell over. The police investigations discover that there is poison in the food and on the utensils. However, both the food and the utensils have been used by the victim, while the ingredients and the like from other people's cuisine do not have poison. The people that attended the dinner party who are suspected... Actually, the killer somehow isn't someone who attended the party. The killer had applied the poison somewhere on the victim prior to the incident, and successfully committed it by using the victim's habits of touching a place. The victim had habits of folding his arms, fidgeting his legs, and crossing his feet, and did so repeatedly while dining. Futhermore, this photo is of the victim's table at the moment of death.
[TN: It's a Western-style restaurant, and the table has the usual assortment of dishes and sides.]

Question 1: Which habit did the killer use?
Image
[Choose: Folding arms, Fidgeting legs, Crossing feet]
Question 2: Where was the poison applied?
[Choose: Victim's shoe, Victim's trousers, Victim's jacket]
Question 3: In which food was the poison found?
[Point it out]

Spoiler: Chapter 3, hologram on table
Pearl: A-Athena! There's something strange floating here!
Athena: That's a 3D hologram.
It's amazing technology that projects images into the air!
Pearl: Oh, wow! There's such a thing that can float up into the air like this!
At my village, there's nothing else that can do that beside the Hitodama!
Athena: (It's pretty strange that she thought about that...)
Ah! There's a quiz card that's mingling among the images.

Quiz: ~Foresight Dream~

Athena: Now, let it be revealed!
CORRECT
Pearl: Well! You were completely correct.
Athena: Heheh. No problem at all!
Pearl: But, how could he have foreseen this part?
Athena: Pearly, there's no such thing as predicting the future.
There's a simple trick to it by using the psychology of his companion.
Pearl: What kind of trick is it?
Athena: There are many things on the table, and the names of all the horses have been written there in advance.
After learning the results, he'd just need to point out the thing in which that horse's name was written.
Pearl: I see... That way, he wouldn't need to predict anything.
As expected of you, Athena, leaving it to psychology.
Athena: Leave everything else to me! I'll gladly take it on!

Spoiler: ~Foresight Dream~
Every Sunday, I'd visit my friend's house to watch horse racing. It was on that day while we were watching the usual exciting horse race.

Friend: Last night, I had a dream about the main race, and I wrote down the name of horse #1.

He suddenly told me. When the race ended, my friend told me to open the letter on the table. Just like what he told me, there was the name of horse #1 written in the letter. Even more surprisingly, horse #2 also appeared in his dream. This time, he told me to open up a book on the table, and there was horse #2 written on a note. If he bought that ticket, he'd have reaped in a big profit.

Friend: I'm gonna bet my money on next week's race! 10 times more!"

...is what he said, but there's actually a lie within that dream he had.

Question 1: Of where in that foresight dream would need to be checked to be true?
Image
[Choose: The clock's time, Program's broadcast time, Atop the table]

Spoiler: Chapter 3, fingerprint sensor
Pearl: Athena, what exactly is this machine?
Athena: This is a fingerprint recognition device...
It's a device on which you put your hand, and it reads your fingerprints. If it finds a match, the door will open.
Pearl: ! That's very interesting! I'd like to try it.
Athena: Well, I don't think it'll recognize you.
Sensor: Beep! Pearl Fey confirmed.
Athena: ...It did anyway?
Sensor: Now please enjoy this quiz.

Quiz: ~Secret Code~

Athena: Now, let it be revealed!
CORRECT
Athena: Yes! I am a genius!
Widget: Geniuuus!
Pearl: That's wonderful, Athena.
You may even be able to beat Mr. Nick this way.
But, why would not being able to get the 50 yen so strange?
Athena: The investigator was using a public phone to make a call...
If he really couldn't connect a line, the money would come right back out.
Pearl: So the phone really couldn't connect...?
Then, what was the sound that he heard from the non-working phone?
Athena: Couldn't the criminal group have slipped in a fake tape recording?
Pearl: That's Athena for you!
The capable attorney who can notice even the most subtle of things is right here!

Spoiler: ~Secret Code~
The police, in order to uncover a scam group, deployed an investigator before an apartment building. Once the investigator confirmed the criminal's residence, he installed a different phone to receive a call from a public phone.

Investigator: Huh? That's weird. Is this number correct?
I've tried recalling it 5 times to keep it in mind, but...
Even then, it seems this phone number hasn't been used.
Aw, man. I can't even get the 50 yen I put in...

After hearing this report, the supervisor of the investigation became bothered by something, and ordered the investigator to rush into the apartment immediately. After that, he succeeded in uncovering the quiet scam group.

Question: What was the supervisor of the investigation bothered about?
Image
[Choose: The phone number being changed, The public phone being used, Not getting the 50 yen]

Spoiler: Chapter 3 Intermission
Athena: Hehehe. Quizkun's test has so much to offer!
Pearl: Well! Athena, your face is drenched with sweat.
Athena: (They were some pretty difficult questions... I can't say they were so boring.)
Widget: It was really hard!
Athena: Eek! Don't say that!
Pearl: Hehe. Athena, you've worked so very hard.
Athena: (...She stroked my head.)
Pearl: Let's hurry and meet up with Mr. Nick and the others.
They must be worried about you.
The staff can't announce the test results without you either.
Athena: Yeah, I guess. I can't up and leave without apologizing first.

Same day, 3:30 pm
Themis Law Academy, Hallway

Quizkun: ...And that's all! Explanation is over! What else would you like to ask?
Apollo: ...That explanation was way too long.
Phoenix: So, we have to answer the quizzes hidden in this rather gaudy hallway?
Quizkun: If we're talking tests, we're talking school! Isn't this way the most appropriate?
Apollo: You say the school, but isn't this the hallway?
I don't want to stand out in the hall! [TN: as if he's been sent out on timeout]
Phoenix: Instead of this test, I'd rather head for Justitia's Diner and get something to eat.
Apollo: M-Mr. Wright. Let's just try it out.
Phoenix: You're pretty serious about this. ...even though you're acting so edgy.
Apollo: I see someone who's even "edgier"...
Phoenix: (Well, not so much in personality; just the hairstyle.)
Quizkun: ...Hmm? Please wait a moment. It's a notice from the staff.
Hm, hm... what's this! Athena Cykes has completely cleared her test!
Phoenix: ! You've found where Athena is?
Quizkun: It seems she went one step ahead and passed the test.
She has truly left us with some Marvelous results.
Apollo: ...Huh? What do you mean?
Quizkun: It's when you've found a local site where a test is placed, and solved all the questions!
...You already heard it from me during my explanation!
Apollo: W-whaaaaaaat!?
Phoenix: (Speaking of that girl... she's nothing but driven toward winning.)
Quizkun: If you're slower than the rookie attorney, then what would that make her senior attorneys?
Apollo: Ugh.
Phoenix: ... (Getting a bit annoyed here.)
Quizkun: I have prepared even more difficult questions for you two.
If you can't answer them, then you'll be disqualified to be her superiors or as attorneys!
Apollo: No... we can't lose this. Let's get to work!
Phoenix: ...That's right.
(As the Chief and senior attorney at the office, we can't afford to mess up here!)

Thanks, Rayquaza. I've updated the quiz tags with images. If you can get the last chapter's screenshots too, we can finish this up.

^ It's offered at the end of Turnabout Reclaimed. The actual Quiz DLC is not localized, which is why I'm translating it here at all.

Incidentally, I can better imagine why Phoenix acts so cool in GS4. He's keeping all his less secure thoughts pent up, and by the time GS5 rolls around, his privacy is invaded again. Yep, that's our Nick.

Working on the next part... gonna try to it uploaded within the next few days.

I have no idea what's going on here either. By the way, can anyone tell where Gumshoe and Edgeworth are, somewhere in these tags?

Spoiler: Chapter 3, school festival banner
Phoenix: A school festival, huh? Brings back memories.
Apollo: Mr. Wright, how were you like as a student?
Phoenix: I was once suspected of stealing someone's lunch money, and another time suspected of murder.
...I didn't do either of those things, of course.
Apollo: You were even arrested when we first met...
Phoenix: Hahaha. Never mind that, look! There's a card here.

Quiz: ~Live Broadcast of Death~

Phoenix: Alright. How's that? (Please be it...)
CORRECT
Phoenix: Hm, naturally. (Whew, somehow I saved face.)
Apollo: Nice one, Mr. Wright! So it really was a radio show.
Phoenix: Nowadays, Onyankopon's popularity has sunk to an all-time low.
Apollo: Is it really that unpopular? Onyankopon...

Spoiler: ~Live Broadcast of Death~
The National Hero of Heroes, in search of Japan's number one hero. The heroes that gathered for that season of the talk show was broadcasted live.

Announcer: After a fierce round of debate, our long-awaited Hero has finally come! Have you completely forgotten which battle I mean?
Captain Saipan! vs Onyankopon!

However, in the middle of this program's broadcast... one of the starred actors suddenly foamed at the mouth and fell over dead without a word. Yet, the other actor and staff declared the results as calmly as ever. The program continued airing on schedule. Furthermore, not even one person in the audience enjoying the program was bothered by his death.

Question 1: Why is that?
Image
Choose: The cameraman wasn't there, The producer wasn't there, The writer wasn't there
Question 2: Why wasn't that person there?
Options 1: Used an automatic photo shot, The culprit escaped from the scene, No need to film
Options 2: No need to direct the speaker, On standby in another room, The culprit escaped from the scene
Options 3: The culprit escaped from the scene, No need for a progressive script, Airing a documentary
Question 3: Thus, this program...
Options: Is not actually being broadcasted, Is a radio show, Isn't live

Spoiler: Chapter 3, mock trial banner
Apollo: Ah, a mock trial. I used to practice for it back in the days.
Phoenix: Oh? Did you have a prosecutor friend who'd join you?
Apollo: Nah. I did it by myself without anyone at all in the room!
Phoenix: (Is that what he meant by "mock trial"?) Oh, found a card!

Quiz: ~Price of the Antique~

Phoenix: Alright. How's that? (Please be it...)
CORRECT
Phoenix: Well, it's only natural. (...Thank goodness.)
Apollo: But why is the square card the fake?
Phoenix: This card is supposedly written during the WWI era, right?
WWI took place before WWII... but at that time, there was only one world war.
Apollo: Ah! So that's it! Then...
Something written during WWI wouldn't write "World War I".
Phoenix: Exactly. Simple, right? (...sort of.)

Spoiler: ~Price of the Antique~
There is an antique shop on the outskirts of town. There, 3 items have been sold. The first antique is a vase. It's a work of a famous potter. Its air of peculiarity is said to have originated somewhere between Hokkaido and the Okinawan Islands. The second antique is a square card [used for autographs, poetry, etc.]. It once belonged to a poet who was a war hero, and he had written it just before his death. There is a note on its back which recites this song from the WWI era. The last antique is a hanging scroll. It's a painting drawn by an artist back in the Edo Period. Rather than using a brush, it appears to be hand-drawn. Given the information above, one among these three is determined to be a fake.

Question: Which of them is the fake?
Image

Spoiler: Chapter 3, sign to receptionist desk
Apollo: Mr. Wright! We should get a receptionist desk in our office too.
It's kinda embarrassing to interview people with all those magic props and stuff lying around.
Phoenix: Haha. But you know, we ARE an "anything agency".
Those magic props are a part of the office anyhow.
Hey, never mind that. There's a question here too.

Quiz: ~If You Want to be Saved, Choose~

Phoenix: Alright. How's that? (Please be it...)
CORRECT
Phoenix: Hmm, that went pretty well.
Apollo: Yeah, I got this one too.
If we take that all the other bottles beside the white one don't have poison,
there'd always be a contradiction that arises!
Phoenix: Apollo, please don't underestimate the power of your Chief.
(...at least not for this.)

Spoiler: ~If You Want to be Saved, Choose~
Upon waking, you find yourself in an unfamiliar room. You seem to have been locked up inside. At that moment, you hear a voice from a speaker.

Speaker: From here on out, you will have to play a game.
You will have to choose one bottle from among those lined up before you and drink it up.
However, in 5 of these bottles, there is poison in them.
Also, a bottle that has poison in it has a lie written on it.
Saying in another way, the one that doesn't have poison in it has a truth written on it.
Choose which is the bottle without poison.

Question: Which bottle does not have poison in it?
Image
Black: This bottle is safe.
Blue: The white bottle has poison in it.
Yellow: The blue bottle is safe.
Green: The black bottle is safe.
Pink: This bottle is safe.
White: The black bottle has poison in it.

Spoiler: Chapter 3, Criminal Curry
Apollo: It says "Criminal Curry".
Phoenix: It must be some really spicy curry.
Since Trucy likes her curry spicy, we could stop by sometime and have a meal together.
...Well, just one bite of it, anyway.
Apollo: In that case, I'll pass... Oh, there's a card here too.

Quiz: ~The Disappeared Platter~

Phoenix: Alright. How's that? (Please be it...)
CORRECT
Phoenix: Not bad, huh, Apollo? (Yes, I get to keep my rep as Chief!)
Apollo: But why would the platter be hidden in the bookshelf?
Phoenix: Do you notice that the shelves are sticking out a bit?
The book that's been set aside is the same as another that's sticking out.
Yet, if you take a closer look at it, it's not sticking out because of its size.
Apollo: Hey, you're right. But... what does it mean?
Phoenix: The thief probably pulled out the books and shelves,
and once he slipped in the platter, the shelves couldn't return to place.
Kinda like this. [TN: the platter's kinda curved too]
Apollo: Ah! That would explain why they're sticking out.
You noticed even that small a detail, huh? Nice, Mr. Wright!
Phoenix: Only to be expected. (That was a close one.)

Spoiler: ~The Disappeared Platter~
A large platter on exhibition at a beauty parlor has been stolen. The length and width are each 1 meter, and the thickness is 10 cm. The thief has hidden the platter somewhere in this room. Just where could he have hidden such a platter?

Question 1: Where is the platter hidden?
Image
Question 2: Why do you think it's hidden there?
Choose: There's a book left outside, The shelves are sticking out, The bookshelf is big

Spoiler: Chapter 3, Art Department Exhibition
Apollo: There's an art exhibit billboard here!
When this program's over, let's go have a look around!
Phoenix: Hm? Apollo, you're interested in the arts?
Apollo: Eh? Well, of course! ...not at all.
That just came out on its own... Besides that, there's a card here!

Quiz: ~Celebrating A Recovery~

Phoenix: Alright. How's that? (Please be it...)
CORRECT
Phoenix: Not a problem at all! (Whew, good thing I got it right...)
Apollo: But what happened here? I didn't quite understand it that well.
Phoenix: Then let me show you.
See how the other 3 people aside from the victim are holding the cups in their right hands.
Apollo: Ah! That's it!
Since the victim's right hand is still injured...
he had to use his left hand to hold the cup.
But because he did so, he was the only one who was poisoned?
Phoenix: Depending on which hand you use to hold the cup, the spot where you drink from is different.
Apollo: Yeah. Holding the cup in the right hand puts the spot to the left of the handle...
and holding the cup in the left hand puts it to the right.
Phoenix: That's right. So, if all the cups were smeared with poison on the right side...
only the victim would end up drinking the poison!

Spoiler: ~Celebrating A Recovery~
A man has just recovered from a commuting accident about 3 months ago. Glad to see that he's well again, his friends throw him a party in celebration. On the day of the party, there were 4 people in all that attended. Before the food was served, everyone was treated to some hot red tea. When everyone took a cup in hand and began to drink, the recovering man felt intense pain and then fell over on the spot. The culprit had smeared each of the tea cups with poison in the same place. Nevertheless, the culprit succeeded with killing only the victim.

Question 1: Where on the cup was the poison smeared?
Image
Choose: The handle, Inside the cup, Around the edge
Question 2: Why did only the victim drink in poison?
Choose: Could only use one hand, Legs were weak from staying at the clinic, His friends were women

Spoiler: Chapter 3, trophy case
Apollo: Mr. Wright! There are a bunch of trophies here.
Phoenix: Hm, they all seem to be trophies for students enrolled in the prosecutor course.
Apollo: ! The attorney classes should give their more!
Phoenix: They won't hear you cheering for them from here. Oh? There's even a card here.

Quiz: ~5 Deserted Islands~

Phoenix: Alright. How's that? (Please be it...)
CORRECT
Phoenix: Ah, this was nothing. (My heart was beating fast.)
Apollo: Hmm. But why would they need only 1 week?
Phoenix: Think about the movements of the explorers.
Once he was finished exploring the ruins, the explorer on the Wood Island moved to the Fire Island.
When that explorer arrived, the explorer that was there moved to the Earth Island. [TN: whoa, it's animated]
Then, the explorer on this island moved to the Metal Island.
The explorer there moved to the Water Island when the other arrived.
Finally, the explorer on that island moved off to the Wood Island.
Apollo: Oh, the Wood Island wouldn't have anyone then!
Phoenix: That's right. So, the explorer from the Water Island couldn't have met with the explorer that was on the Wood Island.
Apollo: That's why they still needed one more week!

Spoiler: ~5 Deserted Islands~
On the seas near the Republic of Borginia, there are 5 deserted islands set wide apart from each other. The islands have been officially declared as the Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water Islands. Suspension bridges linking the islands together have been mapped out as thus. To solve the mystery of these islands, 5 explorers have arrived here. The five people have split up, each one on an island, to explore the islands' ancient ruins. Once everyone has verified safe landing, in order to fully examine all the ruins... once the explorer on the Wood Island has completed his search, (s)he moved toward the Fire Island. The explorer on the Fire Island arrived on the Wood Island, and the previous explorer there moved to the Earth Island. The one on that island then moved onto the Metal Island as the other explorer arrived... and so on as they traversed the bridges. After the first week, believing that there could be something they've missed, they continued rotating like this for 3 weeks.

Question 1: Could the explorers finish their searches within 3 weeks?
Image
Choose: Yes, No
Question 2: Why is that?
Choose: They need 1 more week, They need 2 more weeks, Someone died during their exploration

Spoiler: Chapter 3, Live Concert
Apollo: Looks like there's a live concert being held.
Phoenix: Apparently, the band is doing one of the Gavinners' songs.
Oh yeah, Prosecutor Gavin. He's Herr Forehead's eternal rival, isn't he?
Apollo: H-hey! Mr. Wright, please don't call me by that name!
The only one who gets to call me "Herr Forehead" is Prosecutor Gavin!
...not that I like being called that by him either.
Phoenix: Hahaha, calm down. Look, here's a card.

Quiz: ~The Direction-Symbol Puzzle~

Phoenix: Alright. How's that? (Please be it...)
CORRECT
Phoenix: W-well, it's only natural. Right, Herr Forehead?
Apollo: I told you not to call me that name!
But why is Mr. Urita the killer?
Phoenix: This dying message shows the directions north and east marked with X's.
Do you know what doesn't have north or east in it?
Apollo: What doesn't have north or east...? You mean, south and west...
Ah, I've got it now!
The words for "watermelon" and "pumpkin", right? [TN: because they're called "west-melon" and "south-melon", respectively]
There's no such thing as "east-melon" or "north-melon", after all.
Phoenix: Also, both "watermelon" and "pumpkin" have the character for "melon".
Therefore, it points to the person with that character in his name, Ken'ichi Urita!
Apollo: Mr. Wright, I completely agree!
[TN: Wait, couldn't we have just agreed that the only guy without "north" or "east" in his name was Urita-san? Stupid (TV) script.]

Spoiler: ~The Direction-Symbol Puzzle~
A man living on Eagle Mountain has been murdered in his home. Before his death, the victim left behind a dying message.

Question: Given this symbol as shown here, which among the following 3 people is the murderer?
Image
Choose: Minami Kitahara, Tougo Kasai, Ken'ichi Urita
[TN: Recurring characters include: north (北) & south (南), east (東) & west (西), melon (瓜) & one (一); respectively to above]

Spoiler: Chapter 3, small shelf on left
Apollo: Oh. There's a love letter left in the shoebox. [TN: aka, the shelf where visitors leave their shoes while in the hallway]
Phoenix: A love letter...? Let's see...
Apollo: H-hey, don't just take a look at it all you want!
Phoenix: It's not a love letter, it's just a quiz card...

Quiz: ~An Unseen Killer~

Phoenix: Alright. How's that? (Please be it...)
CORRECT
Phoenix: Yes! ...oh, um, I mean it's only natural. Ahaha.
Apollo: ...What exactly are you being relieved about?
Phoenix: (Please don't perceive me...)
Apollo: But how could you tell the wife entered the room by looking at the safe?
Phoenix: Given that the safe has a dial...
If he couldn't see, he couldn't have matched up the dial's position [to open it].
I think his wife opened up the safe and left it that way.
Apollo: Ah! That does make sense. As expected of you, Mr. Wright.

Spoiler: ~An Unseen Killer~
In the library room of a certain building, the blind owner has been killed. The murder weapon is a decorative sword found at the scene, and the victim was beaten to death, struck on the back of his head. The only person living with the victim was the man's wife, Matsuko Tsuma. She is questioned as such.

Matsuko: My husband had a deep suspicion, and prohibited me from entering the library.
He couldn't see, but it was normal for him to be able to read.
I didn't enter the room as he told me.

She claims as thus that she didn't enter the room. Knowing that Matsuko usually enters the library and in what state the library was in at the time... where do you look to know these points are true?

Question: Where is the evidence that Matsuko had entered the room?
Image

[T/N: This has nothing to do with the puzzle, but I'd point out that tsuma means "wife".]

Spoiler: Chapter 3, upper balloon
Apollo: The card... Where is the CARD!?
Phoenix: Apollo, settle down.
Apollo: I'm fine! There's no way we'll lose to Athena!
Phoenix: (To be young again...) Look, here's the card.

Quiz: ~A Poor Lie~

Phoenix: Alright. How's that? (Please be it...)
CORRECT
Phoenix: And that's that. (Whew...)
Apollo: Hold it! Mr. Wright!
Why would saying "not having money problems" be a lie?
You wouldn't know whether he really did or not!
Phoenix: Whether he did or not isn't the issue here.
First of all, why would the son know that money was stolen?
Apollo: Ah. Aaaaaaaah!
So that's it. If he had really just heard about his father's death...
it'd be strange that he'd know exactly what was stolen!
Phoenix: That's right. So, the son has to be the one lying.
[TN: Objection! It's possible the son could have known beforehand what was in the safe because his father once told him! I call bum-rap!]

Spoiler: ~A Poor Lie~
The president of Tatael Corporation has been murdered in his own home. Beside the fatal stab into the heart, there appear to be no other wounds. As per the usual, the house has been thrown into disarray, and the safe's contents have been removed. The persons that have arisen on the line through the investigation are the victim's subordinate and the victim's son. After questioning, the two people had testified to the following.

Subordinate: The president certainly had a sharp temper and manner of speech.
He made many enemies.
Yet, he was a very able man and had good people taking care of him.

Son: What, someone killed my dad!? When? Where? How?
...Wait, do you really suspect me? You think I killed my own father?
I don't have any money problems! If you doubt me, check my bank account.

Question 1: One of these two is lying. Which one is it?
Image
Choose: Subordinate, Son
Question 2: What is that person lying about?
Options 1: He had a sharp temper, He made many enemies, There were good people taking care of him
Options 2: You suspect me?, I don't have any money problems, Check my bank account

[T/N: More trivia; tataeru means "to praise". Seems like a good respectable company, huh? Well, aside from the murder.]

Spoiler: Chapter 3, lower balloon
Apollo: When I was a kid, I thought I could float up to space on a balloon.
Phoenix: How completely innocent.
Apollo: I couldn't possibly be able to breathe up there, so it's not possible anyway.
Phoenix: (Is that what he thinks is the problem?) Oh, there's a card stuck on the balloon.

Quiz: ~The Killer's Mistake~

Phoenix: Alright. How's that? (Please be it...)
CORRECT
Phoenix: Alriiight! ...Ah, wait. ...But of course.
Apollo: ...
But, why would not leaving any fingerprints on the phone make the butler the killer?
Phoenix: The butler said he reported to the police using that phone.
The fact that he left prints on the doorknob means he didn't wear gloves.
Apollo: This butler must have wiped away his prints after using the phone.
Phoenix: That's probably the case.

Spoiler: ~The Killer's Mistake~
On a hot summer's day, a man has been killed in his secondary residence. The first to discover the body is the butler. This is what he had to say...

Butler: I had been taking a morning nap. When I returned here, the master had fallen.
I immediately reported the incident to the police and hospital using that phone there.
Until the police arrived, no one else had entered the room.

After hearing his testimony, the forensics team examined the room. The first thing they checked was the doorknob, and they found the butler's fingerprints on it. They were from when the butler led the police into the room. However, other than that, they couldn't find anyone else's fingerprints. Amid the bustle of the investigation, the butler had disappeared.

Detective: Dammit! However you think about it, that guy was the killer!

Question 1: Do you know what is the reason why the butler is the killer?
Image
Choose: Because he left fingerprints, Because he didn't leave fingerprints
Question 2: Where would not leaving any fingerprints suggest that he is the killer?
Point it out

Spoiler: Chapter 3, Justitia's Diner
Phoenix: Speaking of which, what are these scales supposed to be for?
Apollo: They must be used to weigh a precisely equal amount of food!
Phoenix: What a stingy cafeteria. Oh, there's a card taped to the back.

Quiz: ~Within the Cannon~

Phoenix: Alright. How's that? (Please be it...)
CORRECT
Phoenix: Aw, shucks. (My heart's still pounding...)
Apollo: Mr. Wright, as expected of you.
If an animal was trained to press the button when it hears the word "Hello",
the switch could be pressed right at the time when the victim picked up the phone.
Phoenix: Yeah, that's probably it. (...So that's how it was.)

Spoiler: ~Within the Cannon~
A man has been killed at a circus. As part of the show, as the man was to be shot out of a cannon... he died. While he was still inside, the switch to launch was pressed. Whatever had hit the switch appeared to have left a dirty stain on it. Unfortunately, no fingerprints could be lifted from it. The murder method the culprit used is somewhere in this picture. Before then, the victim left his phone inside the cannon, and made a call to another phone far away. The moment he picked up the phone, he was already inside! When some sort of animal moved around, the switch was pressed.

Question 1: What did the culprit use to make it possible to be the killer?
Image
Choose: Knife throwing, Manipulating puppets, Training animals
Question 2: What did the culprit use to press the switch?
Point it out

Spoiler: Chapter 3, Prosecutor's Cafe/Tea House
Phoenix: The Prosecutor's Tea House, right down this way... huh. I'm not in the mood to go.
Apollo: If it means it's only for prosecutors, that could make us mutual enemies in court...
Otherwise, I guess it means you can't drink coffee in there.
Phoenix: ...I have drunk coffee thanks to a prosecutor before, though.
[Apollo: !?]
! There's a card caught under the sign.

Quiz: ~A Warm Relation~

Phoenix: Alright. How's that? (Please be it...)
CORRECT
Phoenix: Mmhm, and that's that. (Whew, I got it...)
Apollo: Hmm. What did you get from the teacup and the murder method?
Phoenix: The two cups being there means the victim had invited someone in.
Apollo: Ah-ha! They're still warm even...
That means not much time had passed since she poured the tea.
Phoenix: That's it. Furthermore, the victim was strangled from behind while still in her seat.
If the person wasn't someone she was familiar with, she would have stood up.
That means it must have been someone she was close with who committed the crime.
Apollo: Awesome! Mr. Wright, you understood that much!
Phoenix: Ah, it was just a lucky guess. (Nailed it.)

Spoiler: ~A Warm Relation~
On the 6th floor of an apartment building, a woman has been murdered. The window was locked at the time, and the room had only one entrance. The victim had been strangled to death by a rope tied around her neck from behind. The victim had a struggle with her killer, swinging them into the nearby mirror and cracking it.

Police: The victim had invited in the killer herself.
And so, it appears the killer was someone the victim knew.

On what basis does it appear that the victim had invited the killer?

Question 1: What is the basis for knowing the victim invited the killer?
Image
Question 2: How did the officer know that the victim knew the killer?
Choose: The way the killer escaped, The way the mirror broke, The murder method

Spoiler: Chapter 3, completion
Apollo: Whew. Somehow, we solved every single one.
Phoenix: Hahaha. Well, they were pretty simple. (...except not really.)
Apollo: Mr. Wright, are you lying about something?
Phoenix: N-no, not at all. (Ugh, I've been perceived.)
Quizkun: Marvelous! As expected, you've proven your status as attorneys.
I now grant all three of you the privilege to challenge a special question!
Apollo: ...Huh? There's still another?
Quizkun: For the final question, head to the grand lecture hall! You'll soon get to meet with Ms. Cykes there!
Phoenix: (Oh, boy. It looks like we'll be led around until the very end.)

Same day, 4:12 pm
Themis Law Academy, Grand Lecture Hall

Athena: Ah! Mr. Wright, Apollo!
Sorry about running off on my own earlier!
Phoenix: Hahaha. Don't worry about it. (Always the same with you.)
Trucy: Are you two here to take on the special question too?
Pearl: Everyone, good luck with the final question.
Phoenix: Thanks, Pearls. Now that we've come this far, we'll press forward with all we've got.
Quizkun: Kee-kee-kee! It couldn't be that simple now, could it?
The final special question is hidden somewhere in this hall.
Once you've uncovered it, answer it to the best of your ability!

[TN: Poke around the judge's bench...]

Apollo: I've got a suspicious feeling about the judge's bench.
Athena: Okay! Then, I'll be the first one there!
Apollo: Hahaha. Athena, if you're not careful, you could fall, you know.
Athena: Apollo, honestly... you're not quite sure of yourself, but you're just pretending to be!
Here I go- *fwump*
Apollo: ! ...She fell anyway.
Phoenix: (We're still on the air, guys...)

Quiz: ~Hiding a Tree in a Forest~

Spoiler: ~Hiding a Tree in a Forest~
A robber has entered into a certain well-known fortune-teller's home. The fortune-teller chatted on and on to the police about how her precious treasure had been stolen. Yet, she didn't say anything about what had been stolen. The thief, by no means having been found out, also doesn't know what may have been stolen... The rather annoyed detective then went to his boss, a certain prosecutor, to discuss things.

Detective: I still have no idea what she's talking about...
Prosecutor: If you take a look at this photo of the crime scene, it should take but a simple glance to understand.
What may have been stolen, as well as where it could be hidden.
Detective: Really, sir!? It's hidden somewhere in this room!?
Prosecutor: ...Yes, it is.
Perhaps someone who holds a grudge against that fortune-teller decided to play a prank on her and simply hid the object.

As the prosecutor has declared that it takes but a simple glance, where is the treasure hidden?

Question 1: Where is the treasure hidden?
Image
Question 2: What exactly is the treasure that was stolen?
Choose: A golden staff, A crystal ball, A treasure map

Spoiler: Chapter 3 End
Phoenix: This must be the answer!
CORRECT
Phoenix: See, I told you so. (Oh my God, I actually did it...)
Apollo: Oh! I've got it! So that's how it is!
Athena: Oh! I've got it too!
The kelp in this aquarium looks bent in a weird way.
There must be a crystal ball or something like it here.
Apollo: ! Why did Athena end up explaining it!
Phoenix: Now, now. Settle down, you two. (We're still being aired, after all...)
All 3 of us solved it together. Isn't that what matters?
Quizkun: Wonderful! I, Quizkun, humbly accept my defeat!
Athena: Woohoo! We beat Quizkun!
Apollo: Hopefully, our office will get a lot more clients after this.
Phoenix: ...You'll likely have more work as a performer too.
Trucy: I'll be glad to join in at that time!
Pearl: I also should think about what sort of talent I have to show...
Phoenix: We have a warm welcome for you to thank for helping around the office.
Quizkun: Hmm. It's the result of a premonition fulfilled! I hence declare you all marvelous attorneys!
Phoenix: ...Could you not call us anything? It's kind of embarrassing.
Trucy: According to the script, it's about time for Quizkun to show himself.
Quizkun: That is correct! From now, on, I'll- ...zzt.

???: Let's put an end to this undeserving program.
Quizkun: W-what are you doing!? Give back the mic!
???: This TV program has now been jacked.
Phoenix: What the? What just happened here?
Is this part of the script too?
Pearl: T-there isn't anything like this in the script.
Trucy: I didn't hear about this either! What should we do...?
Jack: Hmph... What's so brilliant about these lawyers anyhow.
If you're really as brilliant as you say you are, I dare you to take my challenge.
If you do... I'll let Quizkun go and let you return to your program.
Quizkun: H-help me! This... this isn't a joke!
Phoenix: (Wait, did the TV program just meet with an accident...?)
Athena: Mr. Wright, Apollo! Let's go beat up that TV jacker!
Apollo: If we all do this together, we'd be fine... I guess.
Phoenix: Yes, you're right. Let's go for it.
(If we want to get to the bottom of this incident, we'll have to take his challenge.)

To be continued...

My God, I'm back. What am I still doing here?

Spoiler: Chapter 4 Intro
Apollo: We solved all the logic quizzes.
Then, when we thought we could be named "magnificent attorneys",
someone hijacked the TV station.
The hijacker challenged us over our titles...

A certain day, 4:31 pm
Themis Law Academy, Grand Lecture Hall

Phoenix: While we could accept the TV hijacker's demands,
we should first alert the police.
Fulbright: Ha ha ha! Everyone, have I kept you waiting? Here's Detective Fulbright!
Apollo: (...No one was waiting for you.)
(But at least we don't have to go looking for the police.)
Athena: Detective Fulbright, what are you doing here?
???: I heard that the TV station has been hijacked.
Apollo: P-Prosecutor Gavin!
Klavier: When I hurried to my TV, I was surprised to find you guys being televised.
Are you appearing on the live broadcast of "Defender King"?
Haha. Though for someone being featured, to be named as "magnificent attorneys" is...
Apollo: Ugh... if you're going to laugh, then laugh already!
Klavier: Oh, I'm just joking. ...Everyone, if I may have your attention.
The police already know about this matter and have rushed into the station.
Fulbright: Even if the police have addressed the issue, I'd like you all to do a little something else.
I want you to avert the TV hijacker's attention.
Klavier: He seems to have hidden logic quizzes in two other locations.
Since I'll be lending a hand, we can split up into 3 groups.
There will be the ones solving the quizzes, and the ones staying here to distract the hijacker.
Phoenix: I suppose it can't be helped. Then, let's make our teams.

Same day, 4:42 pm
Nine-tales Vale, Yokai Lane

Trucy: It's been so long since we've done something together, hasn't it, Daddy?
Phoenix: Hahaha. If we weren't busy with this now, we could take our time and do some sightseeing.
(...But to see the sights in this village has to take some guts.)
Trucy: There are so many things I can use for my magic tricks! I want them all!
Phoenix: ...There's nothing but Japanese things here, and they don't really suit you.
(And, it'd be too expensive.)
Trucy: Yeah, I guess stocking up on Japanese themes would be pretty tough.
Thanks, Daddy! You even know so much about magic, huh?
Phoenix: (Oof... That respectful gaze really stings...)
Trucy: Huh? Someone left a weird-looking box in a place like this.
Phoenix: ...It won't open. Oh, there's something written on the side.
"There are 12 cards with logic quizzes written on them hidden in this village."
"Once you find them all, you can enter the pass code to unlock this box."
...is what it says.
Trucy: Logic quiz cards... so it's just like what we've been doing for the Defender King show?
For now, let's solve those quizzes and see if we can open up this box.
Al-right! Talents of the Wright Anything Agency, let's get to work!
Phoenix: (Even though I've just returned to being a "lawyer"...)

Spoiler: Chapter 4, Nine-tailed fox
Trucy: Daddy, look! It's the Nine-tailed Fox!
The Nine-tailed Fox is said to have lived for 10,000 years.
Phoenix: 10,000 years...?
Trucy: Well, it's just that it can't lose its enchantment!
Phoenix: (Is she talking about... its competition?) Oh! There's a card in its mouth.

Quiz: ~The Strangling Demon's Weapon~

Phoenix: Okay, this should be it.
CORRECT
Yep, just as smoothly as ever.
Trucy: Awesome, Daddy!
But you actually suspected that her hair was the weapon?
Phoenix: Take a look. Her hair is left in a mess.
And besides... that way, she could use her hair as a weapon.
Trucy: Maybe I'll grow out my hair too.
Phoenix: (She... couldn't be thinking about using it as a weapon, right?)

Spoiler: ~The Strangling Demon's Weapon~
The police are investigating a series of strangulation murder incidents at the private Ivy University. The weapon used to commit the crimes is a cord-like object, and all the victims are male. Every one appears to have been attacked from behind and strangled without resistance. And, yet another similar incident is discovered. An officer who happened to be around heard a scream and rushed to the scene... to find a man on the ground and a woman fleeing. He hurried to capture the woman. Yet, the woman isn't holding any sort of weapon on her. The police have laid out everything she kept in her purse onto the table. Certainly, there doesn't seem to be anything that looks like a weapon. However, the murder weapon is indeed among the items. Therefore, which one is the weapon?

Question: Which one is the weapon?
Image

[TN: Previously I kept it as its Japanese name, Yuumei (勇盟), but it's actually been localized as "Ivy University" back in T&T.]

Spoiler: Chapter 4, Nine-tales Vale sign
Trucy: Since the divine spirit that protects this village is the Nine-tailed Fox, it's known as Nine-tales Vale.
Wouldn't having nine tails easily get them tangled up?
Phoenix: Well, yokai don't actually exist.
Trucy: (°д°)
Phoenix: Alright. There's a card here too.

Quiz: ~Intimate Feeling~

Phoenix: Okay, this should be it.
CORRECT
Phoenix: Well, as it is. (Yes, I got it!)
Trucy: Since it's you, Daddy, it's only natural!
Ah, but why would the victim want to protect the killer?
Phoenix: He is still a father. He had to protect his kid.
The one who wiped the prints and locked the door was the victim himself.
Trucy: Daddy, would you also protect me if I kill you?
Phoenix: You shouldn't kill me at all.
Trucy: :p

Spoiler: ~Intimate Feeling~
Inside a library, a man has been found dead. The door to the room had been locked from the inside, so naturally, it doesn't have a lock on the outside. Since there are no other entrances, it's a completely locked room. The victim's son had been standing outside the room, but he said he didn't hear anything. The body had been stabbed by the weapon. The weapon appears to have been wiped of an marks, so fingerprints could not be lifted. Furthermore, the victim had left behind a will. However, this incident is without a doubt a murder. How did the killer manage to create this locked-room murder?

Question 1: Who was the one who made it a locked room?
Image
Choose: The son, The victim
Question 2: What was the reason for faking a locked room?
Choose: To search for something to fight back with, To escape from the killer, To protect the killer

Spoiler: Chapter 4, lantern by entrance sign
Trucy: Daddy! There's a paper lantern in place of a lamp.
This lantern must have flown about here evening after evening...
Phoenix: But it isn't lit by fire, so it's still a lamp.
If it flew around, its cord would get tangled.
Trucy: ...Daddy doesn't have much imagination. Ah! There's a question here too!

Quiz: ~Announcement of a Murder~

Phoenix: Okay, this should be it.
CORRECT
Phoenix: Hah, I somehow did it!
Trucy: And again! Only Daddy would be so humble about it.
But why would he send the letter to himself?
Phoenix: First, he'd write his own address on an empty envelope and send it off.
Then, the day it arrives, he would have a stamped envelope in his hands.
Trucy: Oh! Then he could put in the announcement and paste on a different address!
Phoenix: That's right. That way, he could deliver it to the police himself.
If you look carefully, this envelope's address seal is slightly ajar.
You can tell that it's been glued on again.
Trucy: If you know how to use it, you could use it to make a prediction!
Next time we see them, we can surprise Apollo and Athena.

Spoiler: ~Announcement of a Murder~
The police have been delivered a mysterious notice regarding a murder case they're currently investigating.
Image
[TN: "On January 9, I will kill you"]
The letter has been stamped the day before the incident and is addressed to the victim. The killer knew the victim before. The owner of the letter could be the the killer. Yet, the police have conclusive evidence and arrest another suspect. Without taking out the letter, he removed only the seal on the back.

Detective: The culprit has my thanks for delivering the notice to us himself.

As the detective said, the owner of the letter is simply someone who enjoys watching people's reactions.

Question 1: The trick behind getting the stamp printed the day before is...?
Choose: Using express delivery, Sending the letter from a faraway postbox, Sending the letter to himself
Question 2: Where on the culprit's letter shows it's been crafted?

Spoiler: Chapter 4, pointing sign
Phoenix: It's an arrow. It's pointing out the entrance to the village.
Trucy: But here is also Nine-tales Vale.
Ah! Since the arrow is windy, it might be helping lead dead spirits through here.
Phoenix: Hahaha, you know that can't be it. (...Or could it?)
There's a card on its tip, as if saying "the question is here".

Quiz: ~Last Will~

Phoenix: Okay, this should be it.
CORRECT
Phoenix: Geez, it was kind of a tough question.
Trucy: Even then, you solved it so easily, Daddy!
It was supposed to be like this...
"I'm sorry, I'm desperate to atone" [TN: 必死 (hisshi) = desperate]
is what was written.
Phoenix: Yes, that's it.
After ripping it up, the killer took out the 必 part.

Spoiler: ~Last Will~
In one of the rooms in a hotel at Kurain Village, a man has died. There were ripped-up pieces of paper found from the trash can. Lining up the pieces together again, some words as follows appeared.
Image
[TN: "I'm sorry, I will atone with death"]
The handwriting is without a doubt the victim's. The police verify this as a will and declare it a suicide. However, the truth is that this note was faked by the killer. After ripping it up, they took out a piece.

Question 1: Where among these pieces shows that there's a missing piece?
Point it out
Question 2: What was written on the missing piece?
Choose: 滅 (metsu), 必 (hitsu), 九 (ku) [TN: extinguish, certain, and nine. This quiz only needs a little Japanese vocabulary; see the answer above for clarification]

Spoiler: Chapter 4, "welcome" sign in back
Trucy: It says "Welcome".
Phoenix: Does it say "Thank you" on the back?
Trucy: Maybe it only says "Urameshiyaa" there. It's this sort of village.
[TN: urameshii = reproachful, meshiya = restaurant]
I'll go take a quick look, Daddy.
! There wasn't anything written there, only this card stuck on it...

Quiz: ~Puzzling Code~

Phoenix: Okay, this should be it.
CORRECT
Phoenix: *chuckle* No problem at all.
Trucy: Yaay! Daddy's so cool about it!
But how does this say "Tabata"?
Phoenix: They're map symbols.
Trucy: Map symbols?
Phoenix: Trucy, you've learned about them in grade school, haven't you?
As shown here, the two lines give 田 (ta), for "farm", and the V gives 畑 (hata), for "field".
So, it comes to "Tabata".
Trucy: Oh, yeah, now that you mention it, I did learn something like that before...
Phoenix: Trucy, work a little harder on your studies.
Trucy: Ah, right. Anyway, Daddy, let's hurry and find the next question!
Phoenix: (...She ran off. To be honest, I don't really like studying either.)

Spoiler: ~Puzzling Code~
In a room at the Gatewater Hotel, a mystery writer has been murdered. The victim has left a mysterious code nearby.
Image
That code is meant to show the name of the killer, though...

Question 1: The murderer's name is...?
Choose: Takagi, Tabata, Terajima
Question 2: What is used to decipher the dying message?
Choose: Map symbols, Roman numerals, Weather symbols
[TN: This one requires knowledge of Japanese map symbols and how names are conjugated. Check above for details.]

Spoiler: Chapter 4, giant spider yokai
Trucy: Eek!
Phoenix: Hahaha. Just like a little girl to be scared of a sign like that.
Trucy: Daddy, that's the yokai tsuchigumo! It's a really strong yokai!
Phoenix: (...so she wasn't scared.) Oh, there's a card taped to a leg.

Quiz: ~Incident on a Solitary Island~

Phoenix: Okay, this should be it.
CORRECT
Phoenix: Somehow, I got the hang of it.
Trucy: Way to go, Daddy. Leave it to the Chief!
But there wasn't anyone filmed on camera, right?
How did the officer enter the room?
Phoenix: Give the question another read.
"Yet, there is a security camera set by the room's door, and none of the three were pictured."
Trucy: Ah-ha! So the officer was the one pictured.
You even caught onto such a tiny detail.
Phoenix: ...It's my job to catch on to tiny details in a witness' testimony, after all.

Spoiler: ~Incident on a Solitary Island~
There was a millionaire who lived on a solitary island, and was attacked in his home. He was beaten over and over on the head and fell into a serious coma. Today, the seas were especially wild, so no one could arrive on the island. A security officer had been on this island, and he began his solo investigation as soon as he could. Beside the victim, there was only the victim's wife and two sons who lived with him. Yet, there is a security camera set by the room's door, and none of the three were pictured. It's impossible to enter the room without being caught on camera. There is no conclusive evidence to explain what happened, but the victim miraculously awoke from his coma. While the three named suspects are tending to the victim...

Millionaire: You insolent... How dare you show your face here!

he suddenly shouted, and fell back into the coma. The culprit is indeed someone among these people.

Question: Point out the culprit.
Image

Spoiler: Chapter 4, soba cart sign
Trucy: Ah, it says "Bakeneko Soba".
Phoenix: It really is a village brimming with yokai.
Trucy: Making bakeneko... I wonder how bakeneko tastes.
Phoenix: (How it... tastes?) I don't think it tastes like anything.
Oh, there's a card stuck in behind the sign.

Quiz: ~Where is the Poison From?~

Phoenix: Okay, this should be it.
CORRECT
Phoenix: Ah, it wasn't too hard.
Trucy: Daddy, your face is wet with sweat.
But how did you know? That was amazing!
Phoenix: Look at how the cake pieces were eaten.
Only Zusuta ate her piece in a strange way, right?
Trucy: Oh! She started from the rim.
Phoenix: If one side of the knife had poison on it, the rim of the cake wouldn't.
And so, if one side that didn't have poison...
First, when the cake is cut in half, the poison would line along like this.
Then, cutting it into fourths...
Like this, there could be a piece that isn't poisoned.
Trucy: So that's it! Next time, I'll include a well-crafted trick into my show...
And instead of poison, I'll use mustard and cover Apollo in it...
Phoenix: Take it easy with that.
Trucy: :p

Spoiler: ~Where is the Poison From?~
A murder by poisoning in an apartment building is discovered. The victim, Kusatsu, was over at her friend's, Zusuta, home with their other friends, Satou and Oshio. Forensics determine that the cake the four people ate has traces of poison. However, Satou's piece of the cake didn't have any. The one who bought the cake was Kusatsu. The one who cut the cake was Satou. And, the one who passed out the pieces was Zusuta. Since Oshio dislikes sweets, she didn't have a piece. The police suspected Satou, but... the real culprit is Zusuta. [TN: she even has "poison" in her name] Zusuta had smeared on the poison somewhere beforehand. Furthermore, she arranged the poisoned cake pieces and the piece that wasn't... to pass the ones with poison to Kusatsu, Oshio, and herself, and leave Satou with the one without. Since she knew Oshio didn't like sweets... she managed to kill only Kusatsu. Now, where could the poison be smeared on, so that this would be possible?

Question 1: Where is the place the poison was smeared on?
Image
Question 2: Where on the knife could the poison be put to make one untouched slice?
Choose: Handle, Both sides of the blade, One side of the blade

Spoiler: Chapter 4, soba cart cat face
Phoenix: There's the face of a cat stuck on the side of the cart.
Trucy: Speaking of "a face on the side of a cart", it's like a yokai called Oborokuruma, but since it's "Bakeneko Soba", they even put a cat face here?
Phoenix: Before you know it, it's become a complete yokai.
Trucy: Could you please teach me everything about being a complete friend to a yokai?
Phoenix: Ah, there's a question in the cat's mouth.

Quiz: ~A Wayward Death~

Phoenix: Okay, this should be it.
CORRECT
Phoenix: I knew it. It's just as I thought.
Trucy: You did it, Daddy.
But freezing water into ice and heading to a sauna to kill himself...
Phoenix: It's why it's appropriately called "wayward".

Spoiler: ~A Wayward Death~
A man has died in a sauna. The cause of death is drowning. However, in the sauna room, the only water is what is spilled on the floor... The tool used to store the water hasn't been found. The sauna's only customer was this man, and the employees never even approached him. The following investigation on the body reveals traces of a sleeping drug. The truth is, this man committed suicide. However, by what means could he have drowned in the sauna? Where is the tool [that held the water]?

Question 1: Where is the container?
Image
[TN: If you pick the bottle, the quiz narrator will explain that it's the bottle that held sleeping pills and couldn't have held enough water to drown someone. It's pretty obvious, but interesting that they bothered to program in a "second chance" here.]
Question 2: Therefore, what is the containing object?
Choose: Held water in his mouth, Froze the water into ice, Used the room's vapors

Spoiler: Chapter 4, umbrella yokai
Trucy: This is the Karakasa monster. It's a yokai that transforms into an umbrella.
Phoenix: I suppose it'd only be convenient to come out when it rains.
Trucy: Daddy, are you a romanticist or a realist...
oh, there's a card left behind the tongue, Daddy.

Quiz: ~The Weapon Knows the Killer~

Phoenix: Okay, this should be it.
CORRECT
Phoenix: I did it, Trucy.
Trucy: I knew you could do it, Daddy! You're the greatest attorney ever!
But how did you know?
Phoenix: Look carefully at the weapon.
The heads of the clubs in the back face a different direction, right?
Trucy: Oh!
Phoenix: This is a club used by a left-handed person.
In this case, there's only the hairstylist who's left-handed.
Trucy: Any question is an easy victory for Daddy!

Spoiler: ~The Weapon Knows the Killer~
During a golf competition, a murder takes place. The killer took offense to looking the fool compared to the victim's score, and struck the person with his own club. The killer, making a frantic commotion, dropped the weapon and fled. The suspects number 3 people. The killer is among them.
Image
The office worker. When the incident took place, he was busy writing notes.
The tennis player. It seems he was practicing in a nearby tennis court.
The hairstylist. With a pair of scissors in hand, he was practicing his cutting techniques.

Question: Who is the killer?
Choose: one of the three above

Spoiler: Chapter 4, plate of dango
Phoenix: Oh, here's a plate of dango.
Trucy: Is there such a yokai associated with dango in this village?
A yokai that's a dango... hmm, I can't think of any!
Phoenix: Um, I'm pretty sure they're just normal dango.
Aside from the card hidden under the plate.

Quiz: ~Invisible Dying Message~

Phoenix: Okay, this should be it.
CORRECT
Phoenix: I did it, Trucy. I got it right.
Trucy: Nice going, Daddy!
He could leave a recorded message with that cassette tape.
Phoenix: That's right. If he couldn't write anything, the only way left is to record his message.

Spoiler: ~Invisible Dying Message~
Within a small hut that Eagle Mountain visitors can stop by, one man has been poisoned. It was a poison that acted slowly, so he was still alive for a short while, but... there is no fixed telephone around, and his cellphone ran out of batteries, so he couldn't call for help. So then, with the last of his strength, he left the name of his killer. Only, unfortunately, this little hut doesn't have any stationary to work with. Also, due to the poison's effects, he didn't have much strength in his hands, so he couldn't leave anything on the floor. Without writing anything, the man... There is something in this picture where he left the killer's name.

Question: Where is the dying message?
Image

Spoiler: Chapter 4, tofu boy statue
Trucy: Oh! This is the Tofu Boy, Daddy.
Phoenix: What sort of yokai is he?
Trucy: He only stands there holding tofu. He doesn't do anything else.
Phoenix: ...How appropriate for a yokai named that. ! There's a card under the tofu!

Quiz: ~The Basement Floor~

Phoenix: Okay, this should be it.
CORRECT
Phoenix: Whew. I somehow got it.
Trucy: Well, I'd think you could get it, Daddy.
So in the end, who is the killer?
Phoenix: Probably the stage crew member who found him.
He even said that he didn't touch the scene.
When he stepped out from the elevator into a dark room, the victim yelled out.
Trucy: Since it was dark, he wouldn't have known as he stepped out, and so he fell.
And since it was dark, he wouldn't have known the pen couldn't write anything more.
Phoenix: In other words, the killer had to have lit up the scene himself.

Spoiler: ~The Basement Floor~
[TN: The title can also be translated to "abyss"]
A performer in a theatrical troupe has achieved a perplexing death. The performer, stepping off of the stage elevator, fell 5 meters to his death into the basement below. The first one to discover the body was a member of the background stage crew. Within 30 minutes, the victim returned from some other work and seemed to have fallen to his death. After discovering it, the witness testified to touching nothing, in order to preserve the state of the crime scene.
Image
As expected, there are signs of something being written on the floor with a felt-tip pen. [TN: "The killer is..."] The victim barely managed to write out the first half of the message, but the pen had run out of ink and the latter half is unreadable. Even then he continued his desperate attempt to write it out.

Question 1: What is the reason why the victim continued to write?
Choose: He was confused due to the pain, The pen is the work of the killer, The surroundings were dark so he couldn't see
Question 2: The scene has been crafted. Where does it show it has?
Point it out

Spoiler: Chapter 4, fox statue
Trucy: Daddy! Inari-san is here!
There's an offering set here... as I thought, it is Inari-san!
Phoenix: ...Strange. There's a card among the offerings.
[TN: Inari Ookami, spoken formally as Oinari-san, is the Japanese God/Goddess of agriculture & fertility, and of foxes. Inari shrines typically hold statues of foxes, each adorned with a votive bib, in honor of Inari's messenger foxes.]

Quiz: ~Enigma of the Ancient Scroll~

Phoenix: Okay, this should be it.
CORRECT
Phoenix: I knew it. I thought it couldn't be like that.
Trucy: That's my proud Daddy!
But... since the Earth is round, it makes this picture a fake?
Phoenix: Not quite.
What is fake isn't the picture, but the characters used for "Earth".
Trucy: Earth...?
Phoenix: Yes. It's made up of the characters 地 ("ground") and 球 ("ball"). Which means...
Trucy: Ah! That means the person who called it "Earth" would know.
Phoenix: Yes, the person who wrote on this scroll is someone who knows the Earth is round.
So, this scroll is a complete fake.

Spoiler: ~Enigma of the Ancient Scroll~
In the home of the village mayor of Nine-tales Vale, a maid has found an ancient scroll. It described what people from long ago had believed how the Earth was like. The following comes from this scroll.

Image
Scroll: This Earth has come to be as a flat pane supported on the backs of elephants and a tortoise.
In the sky the sun floats up high and circles about the Earth. From the ends of the plane water flows over to a place where nothing else had there been.

Upon reading this article, the village mayor said...

Mayor: This has to be a fake.
A person who understands the Earth is round, not a person from long ago, was the the one who wrote this.

Question 1: He has quite the sharp eye, but what about this article is strange?
Choose: This Earth has come to be as a flat pane, Supported on the backs of elephants and a tortoise, From the ends of the plane water flows over
Question 2: Why is this part strange?
Options 1: The Earth is round, Such a large pane doesn't exist, It's not so strictly flat
Options 2: There are no such animals that large, Snakes could also hold it up, The tortoise is a reptile
Options 3: There are no waterfalls on the edge of the Earth, There is nothing before the water falls, The water would disappear

[Tip: It's much simpler than it seems, but knowing a bit of Japanese would definitely help.]

Spoiler: Chapter 4 Intermission
Phoenix: Whew. We finally solved all 12 questions.
Trucy: Daddy, let's put in the password we got from the quizzes for that box from earlier!
Phoenix: Oh, it looks like it's unlocked.
Trucy: There's a note paper inside. It says "Defender of the Law".
Phoenix: ...What is that supposed to mean?
We can talk about it with the others later.
(I wonder how Apollo and the others are doing...)

Same day, 4:45 pm
Space Center, Entrance

Klavier: Herr Forehead, take a look. Here's a suspicious box...
There's something written on it. "Enter the password from the logic quizzes."
Apollo: I see... so we'll have to deal with it later.
Klavier: Could a box like this be left elsewhere?
Apollo: Who knows... Better yet, why am I here with Prosecutor Gavin?
Klavier: That's because you threw out scissors while we made the teams.
Throwing out the same hand to match your hair was fine, though.
Apollo: These aren't scissors on my head!
Klavier: Now, now. Since we don't have much time, let's hurry and solve these questions.
Apollo: (Hm? He sure is in a hurry. Is it because it wasn't fine?)

I'll try to finish up the last part within the next week if I have the time. School has begun.

Edit: Localized a place name again. I'm almost done with the last part, so please look forward to it.

4/5/19 edit: Readded screenshots, localized a certain university name, and added some clarification in the quizzes with the will and the scroll.

Spoiler: Chapter 4, space shuttle top exhaust
Apollo: It's a replica of a rocket. The back end of one, anyway.
Klavier: Not simply turning away... quite like a unyielding kitten.
Though, looking at it from behind, it does have a charm of its own.
Apollo: Oh, is that so. Let's see... Ah! There's a card!

Quiz: ~The Culprit Is a Monster~

Apollo: Okay. This has to be it!
CORRECT
Klavier: So the werewolf is the culprit. Could I hear your reasoning?
Apollo: Take a look.
Since a 180 cm tall model was bitten from behind...
The short fishman can't be the culprit, so he's out.
And since the bite came from behind...
The top row of teeth left marks at the front of the neck, and the bottom row left marks at the back.
So, the culprit is none other than the daring monster with a large lower jaw, the werewolf!
Klavier: Ah, most certainly! My "intuition" told me so too.
What that "intuition" told me... was Herr Forehead's logic.
Apollo: (So, he knew it by instinct, but didn't know the reason...)
(Talk about hating to lose...)

Spoiler: ~The Culprit Is a Monster~
An assault incident takes place at a costume party. The victim is an around 180 cm tall female model. She was suddenly grasped from behind and bitten. She was too terrified to see who it was. There are clear bite marks left on the base of her neck.
Image
Amid the party attendees, the ones who could have left those marks are... 3 people dressed as the vampire Dracula, a fishman [TN: Wikipedia tells me his name is Gill-man], and a werewolf. Due to the special designs of the costumes, the teeth can't simply be taken off. Therefore, the culprit is definitely among these three.

Question: The identity of the toothed monster that appeared at the party is...?
Choose: one of the above three

Spoiler: Chapter 4, left flag
Apollo: It looks like there's a card stuck on the end of that flag...
Ah! The wind's blowing it over here... Ow!
Klavier: What was that, just now? The card hit Herr Forehead right on the forehead...
Do you have a magnet attached in there?
Apollo: No I don't! It was an accident! (Is this what it means to be "hit by a stroke of luck"?)

Quiz: ~Where Is the Bullet?~

Apollo: Okay. This has to be it!
CORRECT
Klavier: Looks like you cleared it. Doesn't that feel great?
Why do you think that daruma doll is so strange?
Apollo: Daruma dolls are supposed to only have one eye painted, for it to grant a wish.
Then, when the wish has been fulfilled, the other eye is painted in.
This victim left a daruma doll here, hoping for good luck during the election.
Then, before he could be elected, it's strange for a daruma to have both eyes.
There's only one daruma with both eyes filled in here.
That's right... the tiny black dot on one of the eyes is actually a bullet hole!
Klavier: Hmph... you really are pretty sharp-sighted! Ah, well, at least for now.
Being called "sharp-sighted" is usually a sign of sarcasm, but I do mean it this time.
Apollo: You don't need to explain it all. ...It makes you seem more suspicious.

Spoiler: ~Where Is the Bullet?~
Just before a politician was to be elected, he was killed in an election polling office. The bullet passed cleanly through his head and has fallen somewhere in the room. However... the discharged bullet has not been found.

Question: Where could the bullet have gone?
Image

[Tip: This one doesn't actually require knowledge of Japanese customs, but just a sharp eye. Knowing them wouldn't hurt, of course.]

Spoiler: Chapter 4, right flag
Apollo: The flag... is fluttering about.
Klavier: The flag is fluttering? In the world of music, that is called... making a rhyme. [TN: because having 'hata' in 'hatameku' is maybe worth something]
What's wrong, Herr Forehead? You've suddenly become a poet.
Apollo: (Ugh, it was just a coincidence. Why make it embarrassing...)
...Oh, the flag pole has a card.

Quiz: ~Constructing a Camouflage~

Apollo: Okay. This has to be it!
CORRECT
Apollo: Looks like I got it completely right!
Klavier: The space under the car...? What are you getting at?
Apollo: Look under the car. It's the only area of the ground that is still dry.
If you move away the car, it'd become like this.
[TN: A lone kitty on dry pavement? :3 ...At first glance it took me a while to figure out it was a cat under the car.]
You can see this car must have parked here before the rain started to fall.
If he arrived just 10 minutes before, the ground here would be wet.
The officer noticed this contradiction.
Klavier: As expected, a perfect answer.
I have to give my respect to that cool of yours. "The Lovers' Guitar Serenade"...
with a spectacular display of air guitar skills!
Apollo: Whatever suits your fancy.
Klavier: Hey, it's just a little joke! Take it easy, man.
[TN: I suppose he could use "Sachte!" here too, but I'm not taking localization that seriously.]

Spoiler: ~Constructing a Camouflage~
An old man who was a friend has been murdered over a trivial matter. And like that, I was arrested for it. Traces of the crime have completely vanished from the room. Fingerprints were also wiped. The police were informed by a call from outside. Around the time they arrived, the rain had stopped falling. In an instant, the police rushed into the house.

Me: I promised to meet him at his house today, but...
he wouldn't answer no matter how many times I called.
He might have even fallen over inside.
When did I arrive? About ten minutes before the detective did.

My deposition was flawless. Several minutes later, when I was released, I stepped into my car and drove off. At that moment, the officer rushed up to me and said he saw through my lie.

Question: What cue gave away my lie?
Image

Spoiler: Chapter 4, trees
Apollo: Are these palm trees? If could I just shake that card down...
Klavier: Speaking of palm trees, coconuts. The sweet fruit of South America...
It's so sturdy that if it falls on you, you could even die from it.
Apollo: Whaaat!? Say that earlier! I even shook the tree a bit.
Klavier: Hahaha. Relax, these trees are safe. Oh, the card fell down.

Quiz: ~Checkmate~

Apollo: Okay. This has to be it!
CORRECT
Klavier: Hmph... even if it's gotten old, let me congratulate you.
But why would there be blood on the chess pieces?
Apollo: You can tell from the chessboard. Pay attention to the bloodstains.
Look... The bloodstains have left some round shapes in it.
The truth is, the chess pieces were like this when the blood got on them.
Blood doesn't come off just by wiping it away.
Spraying luminol would definitely give a reaction!
Thus, since the victim was killed during the match,
Gambitt was purposely trying to hide that fact.
Klavier: There's no hiding behind excuses in that case. It's a checkmate through and through.

Spoiler: ~Checkmate~
The world's champion of chess, Mr. Rooke, has been murdered in his hotel room. The first to discover the body was a friend of his, Gambitt, who promised to play a game with him.

Gambitt: Today's game was a promise I made before, and to surprise him...
I brought a custom-made chess piece set just for the occasion.
I visited his room, but when there was no response, I thought it strange.
The room wasn't locked, so I stepped in and found him...
It really is a shame.

After listening to this testimony, the detective felt bothered by it and went to examine something. As a result, the detective found conclusive evidence to confirm that prediction... and Gambitt was arrested.

Question 1: What did the detective examine?
Image
Choose: Chess pieces, Chessboard, The body's left hand
Question 2: What is the conclusive evidence that was found?
Choose: The killer's fingerprints, The victim's blood, The victim's fingerprints

Spoiler: Chapter 4, Gyaxa logo
Apollo: There's a card up in a such high place there...
There happens to be a ladder here too. Can we use this? ...Okay!
[TN: No, Apollo, it's a stepladder.]
Alright. I got the card without a problem. Let's take on the quiz.
Klavier: Whoa, check it out. Herr Forehead can even detect ladders!
Apollo: Detect ladders... (What's with him suddenly?)

Quiz: ~How do you know?~

Apollo: Okay. This has to be it!
CORRECT
Apollo: Looks like my deduction skills hit the mark!
The victim couldn't see the assaulter. But, she remembered the scent.
So, she knew who the culprit was by the scent of this perfume bottle!
Klavier: Announcing the truth by a lingering scent... ho, quite the exquisite case. [TN: Yes, he almost says the track title to the "Announce the truth" themes, but here it's grammatically correct.]
A secret within but a single fragrant ballad, something I feel like writing up myself.
Apollo: ...I wouldn't know much about songs on pretense.

Spoiler: ~How do you know?~
A woman has been assaulted on the back of her head. Since she was quick to report the incident herself, the suspect was immediately restrained into custody. As she was hit from behind, she didn't see her assaulter at all. However, according to something in the suspect's belongings... the victim could confirm the suspect is the assaulter.

Question: What among the assaulter's belongings could confirm him as the culprit?
Image

Spoiler: Chapter 4, Cosmos Space Center
Apollo: It's the space center. Hm? I see something under the letters.
That's... a card! It's pretty high up too...
Klavier: Shall I take it for you, Herr Forehead? I'm sure I could reach it.
Apollo: Urk... I-I'm fine! I can get it myself!
I... I'm sure I can jump for it!
Hup! Yah! Hah! Hah, I got it... huff, huff...
Klavier: :)

Quiz: ~A Contradicting Picture~

Apollo: Okay. This has to be it!
CORRECT
Apollo: Alriiiight! That went well!
Klavier: Hoh, you know it that well? Isn't that just great?
Why do you say the journal contradicts that statement?
Apollo: Look at the photo.
Do you get exactly what's pictured in the photo?
Klavier: The tea, the notebook, and the slippers, right? What about them?
Apollo: That's right. The other people who saw this photo didn't say anything else about the notebook.
No one ever mentioned it was a journal.
Klavier: Daintily pecking at the corners of stacked boxes...
and boldly claiming the wildest conjecture! Even I want to apprentice under you too.
Apollo: I appreciate the praise, but the way you said it felt a bit sharp.

Spoiler: ~A Contradicting Picture~
A certain woman has been killed. The scene of the crime is her home. By looking at this photo, you can know a few things...
Image
You can see there is tea for two,
a journal left on the table, and a pair of slippers lying on the floor.
The victim's friends who've seen the photo were questioned.

Ehko: Her friend?
She was a pushy kind of girl, so she didn't have any beside me.
Ah, but the two tea cups are there, so who could have come to meet her?
Aiko: We only worked at the same place, so I don't mind being called her friend.
Actually, she almost never spoke with me.
This journal on the table didn't have anything written in it, right?
Keita: Lover? Me? No, I'm not.
She was a pretty girl, but she was also a pushy one.
These slippers are called "Kun". Weird, huh?

There is a statement among their testimonies that contradict the photo.

Question 1: Whose testimony contradicts the photo?
Choose: one of the three
Question 2: Where in the photo is the contradiction?
Point it out

Spoiler: Chapter 4, headline/agenda board
Apollo: According to the agenda board, this facility is on break today.
That's why there's no one around... Oh, hey, there's a card.
Klavier: Even a stage without an audience, or a trial without a judge,
you should always give your best. It's the same here.
Now, it's about time to take on the quiz!
Apollo: (A trial without a judge? I-it's just a metaphor... right?)

Quiz: ~The One Who Testified~

Apollo: Okay. This has to be it!
CORRECT
Apollo: Whew, I somehow got it!
Klavier: It's a bit soon to be relaxing. A false charge is a serious matter.
Given your logic, Herr Forehead, I have to object.
Apollo: ...Very well. I'll prove it to you.
The point to focus on in this quiz is the testimony shared by the many students.
"No one but the victim passed through the hallway."
Actually, this very statement is the most important.
No student passed through... that is, a person who isn't a student.
If you think it that way, there's only one person who's suspicious.
Klavier: So you mean Makoto Izumi?
Apollo: The other two specifically testified to things that confirm them as students.
But, she was the only one who couldn't assert it as fact.
In her own testimony, she implied that she was a teacher.
Specifically, "No other teachers came in."
This is something that only a teacher would say.
Klavier: I see. That does make sense.
Apollo: The suspect was caught thanks to their testimonies. Once you match them up with the facts...
The only one who could be the killer is Makoto Izumi! The "deciding factor" was her age!
Klavier: Ho. Nice one, Herr Forehead!
Compared to the time of that meeting, it's quite like the famous logic of that other person's.
Apollo: (...Hm? What happened at that "meeting"?)
[TN: Btw, he's referring to his debut trial against Nick.]

Spoiler: ~The One Who Testified~
At a distinguished all-girls' high school, a murder has taken place. The victim, Masako Aisawa, was murdered in a soundproof recording studio. The only way to reach the studio is through a hallway, and both before and after the scene was discovered, several students have been having a friendly chat together. However, no matter which student was questioned, no one but the victim had passed through the hallway, according to them.
Image
Around the time of the crime, the ones at school who didn't have alibis were... Junko Unoji, Makoto Izumi, and Rina Endou. The three of them testified to their movements at the time, as follows.

Junko: After class, I was in the library studying by myself.
There was a test earlier this month that I failed, so I'm taking supplementary classes to make up for that bad grade.
Since I was alone, I don't have any proof...
Makoto: At that time, I was in the art room.
I was drawing a collection of pictures, so no one else was in the room.
No other teachers came in.
Rina: At the time, I was watching an exercise video in the audiovisual room.
I don't have a coach, so I watched it alone.
It's the last rally of my high school years, and I want to take that championship!

It seems so difficult to find the killer. However, the case was resolved quickly. Everyone but the killer had testified "correctly"... yet once a certain "deciding factor" was checked for matches, only one suspect was detained. The person who was arrested later confessed to the crime.

Question 1: Who was the one who killed Masako Aisawa?
Choose: one of the three above
Question 2: What was the deciding factor that determined the killer's identity?
Choose: The location during the crime, The suspect's name, The suspect's age

[TN: I guessed the names, but there were no particular puns that I found, iirc.]

Spoiler: Chapter 4, message board
Apollo: "If you read this, you'll become unlucky. The Misfortune Sign." ...Whaa!? What the heck is this?
Klavier: That's a bummer! Herr Forehead, did you really read that sign?
Apollo: Why me! But, to be messing with me like this... wait...
Ah! There's a card hidden here! It's just a fake sign.

Quiz: ~The Moved Body~

Apollo: Okay. This has to be it!
CORRECT
Klavier: You got it. So what about that spot... is so strange?
Apollo: If a rock was left there for 5 years...
the grass under the rock would have wilted, like this.
The fact that grass was growing there proves the rock was left there recently!
Klavier: Ho, that's some sharp observation skills. Of course, I wasn't too careless about it myself.

Spoiler: ~The Moved Body~
A body was found on Eagle Mountain. A person who was picking edible plants in the area happened to come across it, and it was confirmed that it's been five years since the time of death. Near where the body had been buried was a large stone that could be the murder weapon. There are faint traces of the victim's DNA found on the stone. A & B mark the body's position, and C marks where the stone had sat. The forensics team at the scene confirm that the body and stone were recently moved and set here.

Question: What is the basis for determining that the body and stone were recently moved?
Image

Spoiler: Chapter 4, capsule in back
Apollo: I'm also bothered by what's going on in the back there, but I should keep looking for cards...
Klavier: Oh... Herr Forehead, you could leave that to the investigative team.
Apollo: Really? Ah, there's a card here!
Klavier: Hm... thanks. Then, hurry up and read it aloud.
Apollo: (Huh? Could I really use their help...?)

Quiz: ~A Kidnapping Charade~

Apollo: Okay. This has to be it!
CORRECT
Apollo: Yeaaah! It's like I thought.
Klavier: Ah, I also got it, the truth behind this case.
Apollo: The envelope and the letter's size match up just right.
If the envelope was torn open like this...
the top part of the letter would also be torn.
However, that's not how it is here.
So, this threat is a fake. The father was lying!
Klavier: So you noticed it.
Apollo: I accidentally tore apart a letter addressed to Mr. Wright before...
like this, bit by bit... and then it ripped.
Klavier: That's why I use a paper knife to open letters.
Maybe I could try that savage method sometime.
Apollo: D-don't try that!
[TN: I think Apollo may be hinting that he got into trouble because of that, but maybe it's just me.]

Spoiler: ~A Kidnapping Charade~
His son has been kidnapped, and a father has reported it to the police. Several days since then, on May 4, the police received a threatening notice. According to the father who reported it, the envelope was left at his doorstep... After checking its contents, he came running to the police.

Image
Threat: Your son is in my hands.
If you value your son's life, prepare up a million yen.
Tomorrow, May 5th, 10 am.
Come to Vitamin Square alone with the cash.

This is what the notice has written. And yet, the officer who looked at the notice declared the kidnapping was a charade, set up by the man himself. The notice does have a strange point in it.

Question 2: What is the strange point in the notice?
Choose: The notice's writing, The notice's circumstances, The envelope doesn't have anything written on it
Question 2: Where in the letter does that point contradict with?
Point it out

Spoiler: Chapter 4, left station
Apollo: Oh, a card! ...Prosecutor Gavin, I found the card all by myself.
Klavier: Oh, really? Should I strike up a jam session for you then?
Now, pick up those cards to my rhythm...
Apollo: Wait, what? I have to follow in time... no, I don't! How is that necessary?

Quiz: ~Happily Married?~

Apollo: Okay. This has to be it!
CORRECT
Apollo: Yes! Yes! Yeees! I got it right!
Klavier: To be so happy... it's only appropriate to explain yourself, isn't it?
Apollo: Of course! I understood it perfectly.
The couple in the middle have disposed of a written divorce.
They haven't actually divorced yet... so, they're still married!
Klavier: That's some level-headed logic. Marriage, in the depths where romance is lost...
Problems that we can solve with these hands don't number to much.
Yet, it's necessary that I play the fool. ...for the introduction of the defense attorney in charge.
Apollo: (We suddenly got into an earnest conversation...)

Spoiler: ~Happily Married?~
There are three couples seated at a family restaurant with few customers, this late at night. The couple on the left is always laughing hard in their conversation. They're happily reflecting on when they left the public office earlier this noon. The couple in the middle is noisily quarreling with each other. Below their table is a written divorce with both their names on it, discarded aside. The couple on the right are completely silent the whole time. On the table is a marriage proposal form with their signatures, simply left out.

Question: Among these couples, there is only one that is married. Which couple is that?
Image
Choose: one of the three above

Spoiler: Chapter 4, right station
Apollo: It's the reception station. It looks like visiting groups of at least 5 people are given some sort of present.
Counting the members at our office, including me, there are four of us... we need one more...
Klavier: Did you just call me, Herr Forehead?
Apollo: Prosecutor Gavin! Good timing! Do you have an acquaintance to suggest?
Klavier: >:(
Apollo: Aah! Forget that, there's a card here!
Klavier: ...There are many things I can't quite agree on, but just solve the quiz.

Quiz: ~The Lie in the Photograph~

Apollo: Okay. This has to be it!
CORRECT
Klavier: Looks like you got it right. You're sure in good spirits.
Apollo: Of course! Let's take another look at the photo.
This elevator can't direct to any other floor than B2F.
So, B2F is the lowest floor it can go.
Going down to a floor where it can't go... means the doors wouldn't close.
The down button is lit up! This is clearly a contradiction!
Klavier: Yep, that's wonderful.
Furthermore, that prosecutor who used forged evidence...
I can't forgive a guy like him.
Those guys wouldn't understand what it means to be a prosecutor rockin' for the truth.
Apollo: Never mind if it's by rocking or not. It's still a strange view to see yourself.

Spoiler: ~The Lie in the Photograph~
The suspect of a certain murder case has been arrested. The suspect completely denies the charge. He was in the building where the incident took place, but he claims that he didn't go to the 2nd sub-ground floor, where the crime scene is. The prosecutor presents conclusive evidence from a security camera that has pictured the moment of the crime. That is, it's the moment when the suspect was seen leaving an elevator. However, this photo is evidence forged by the prosecutor! On that note, this photo has a strange point in it.

Question: Where is this strange point in the photo?
Image

Spoiler: Chapter 4, astronaut/alien
Klavier: Too bad, Herr Forehead. I didn't bring a camera with me.
Apollo: What are you talking about? We should hurry and find those cards!
Klavier: What, surely you thought about taking a remembrance photo of that panel.
...I've caught sight of a card taped to it.
Apollo: Wait, if you noticed it, say so sooner!

Quiz: ~Unnatural Suicide~

Apollo: Okay. This has to be it!
CORRECT
Klavier: There's something missing at the scene that should be there... What exactly is missing?
Apollo: To be hung from the rope at this height...
and to fit the noose around his neck, he would need a place to stand on.
But, there's nothing here to use as a platform. That is what is unnatural.
Klavier: I see. But what if he climbed up the tree himself?
Once he reached the right height, he could tie the rope from the tree...
And once he made the knot, he could drop down with his head in the noose.
That's how he could commit suicide without a platform.
Apollo: That isn't a possibility. If he climbed the tree, he would ruin his clothes.
Yet, his clothes don't look torn or sullied at all.
Klavier: Oh, so there's no other way, huh? As expected of you.
Springing against the sadness of not taking a remembrance photo... what brilliant deduction!
Apollo: I said I didn't care about that!

Spoiler: ~Unnatural Suicide~
The body of a man with a noose around his neck has been found in a woods where no one lives. His clothes are lying in a mess on the ground. Moreover, given the written will left aside, it appears to be a suicide. However, the results of the investigation have confirmed this to be a murder. The reason for suspecting it to be a murder is due to an unnatural point at the scene.

Question 1: What is the unnatural point?
Choose: There's something that shouldn't be there, There's something missing that should be there
Question 2: Which is that unnatural thing?
Alt Question 2: Where is the "thing that should be there" meant to be?

Spoiler: Chapter 4, completion
Apollo: Alright, the box opened! ...There's some kind of paper inside.
"The culprit's identity", it says. What's this supposed to mean?
Klavier: Who knows... We should discuss this with the others when we see them again.
Apollo: ! It's my phone. ...Hello?
Athena: Hello! It's Athena Cykes!
Apollo, I've linked up with Mr. Wright.
Phoenix: This is Wright. ...Phones these days have amazing capabilities.
Trucy: Daddy, if there's something you don't understand, you can ask me.
Apollo: Then, Athena. Did something happen?
Athena: Yeah! Detective Fulbright and co. searched throughout the lecture hall...
and they found a strange note that said "court of law"!
Apollo: ! We also found a strange note.
Phoenix: ...It could be telling us where to go...
Apollo: Hm, maybe... Prosecutor Gavin, what should we do next?
Klavier: Let's see...
There's nothing written in your scripts about it?
...Ah, that's right. You've tossed it away.
Athena: ! I-I'm sorry...
Trucy: Um, in our scripts...
it says, "Direct the attorneys to the proper location for the award commendation."
Pearl: It could have something to do with the notes we found.
Klavier: Since this program is about making you all magnificent attorneys,
the next place we should head to has been narrowed down, hasn't it?
Athena: ! Do you mean, to "court"?
Apollo: The TV hijacker could be there too.
Phoenix: You may be right. Let's meet up there.

Same day, 5:15 pm
District Court, Defendant Lobby No. 3

Phoenix: We came to the courthouse as we were to, but there's no one else but the bailiffs here.
Athena: Hmm... Are there other courthouses around?
Klavier: ! No, this is the place we're supposed to meet him.
...Look, there's a paper taped to the entrance.
"The final question is hidden in this room."
Apollo: "The final question"... it's TV hijacker's challenge.
Athena: Grr! He really likes to toy with us!
Let's do it, Apollo! We'll take down this question with one blow!
Apollo: R-right. (But you can't actually hit it...)
Phoenix: It's just like what's been going on. Let's take it on all together.
Athena: Los Gehts! Hurry up and start looking!
Apollo: (Once we solve this question, we can finally stop the TV hijacker!)

[TN: poke... poke... poke.]

Athena: Ah-ha! I found it in a flash!
Phoenix: There's a single card stuck to the box with the pass code.
As usual, it should open once we enter in the code from the question.
Apollo: Let's speed through this challenge! We're definitely fine!

Quiz: ~Last Words~

Spoiler: ~Last Words~
Kiyo Matsumoto has been murdered by someone. The autopsy has determined that after she was strangled to death... the knife sticking from her back was plunged in. There are no other visible wounds. On the night of the crime, the ones who were living with her were... Tomoya Matsumoto (松本 知也), Hatsudai Takeuchi (竹内 八台), and Takuo Hamuro (葉室 拓夫). Kiyo seems to have left a dying message in her final moments. Written in blood, it says "Matsutomo".

Question 1: Point out the unnatural spot in this dying message.
Image
Question 2: Thus, who is the killer?
Choose: one of the three above

Spoiler: Epilogue
Apollo: Alright. With this, we'll put an end to everything!
CORRECT
Apollo: Yeah!
Phoenix: Way to go!
Athena: We did it!
Klavier: Hmm... but why would Matsumoto be the killer?
Is it because the dying message shortens his name to "Matsu Tomo"?
Apollo: The victim was strangled to death.
When she died, there was no blood...
so she couldn't have left a dying message!
Klavier: Then, just who do you say left that message?
Apollo: That would be... the killer.
Klavier: Are you suggesting Matsumoto would write his own name just to point himself out?
Athena: Hehehe. I can answer that!
This message was written by two people!
Look at the victim's finger.
It's pointing to the left of 知, at the 矢, right?
After writing 知, the finger should be left on the 口 side.
Then, someone else had to have added on the 矢 to the 口 bit!
And to match it up, that person added the 木 above the 矢.
So, at first, the killer wrote it like this.
Klavier: This would be... "Hatsudai"... oh, no, it's "Hamuro", isn't it? [TN: 八台 vs ハムロ]
Phoenix: Yes, and the only one who would worry about it reading "Hamuro"...
would be Hamuro-san or Takeuchi-san, who added on the 木 and 矢!
Apollo: That's right. Saying it another way, the one who wrote "Hamuro" to direct suspicion onto has to be...
none other than Tomoya Matsumoto!
Athena: Yes! We finally did it! This marks our victory!
Apollo: I don't think it was about winning or losing...
Phoenix: I've finished entering the password. There's a note inside.
"The culprit is among you all."
...W-what!?
Athena: No way...! The TV hijacker is someone with us?
Phoenix: ...Let's gather up the information we have.
Apollo: We also found a weird note.
Phoenix: Same here. Ours said "Defender of the law".
Apollo: Ours said "the culprit's identity".
Athena: And the one we found said "court of law"...
Phoenix: The culprit's identity is a defender of the law... that is, someone who stands in a court of law.
Apollo, do you have an idea?
Apollo: ...Only one person made a suspicious remark.
When the police first arrived, Detective Fulbright said he had some "work" for us to do,
yet there was someone who was in a hurry and said "we don't have much time".
Isn't that right, Prosecutor Gavin?
Klavier: ...! W-what are you talking about, Herr Forehead?
Athena: ! Thinking about it...
When we were talking about how I threw away the scripts, it was before the TV station was jacked.
Phoenix: "After" the TV station was hijacked, he said he was watching TV...
How could he have known "before" it was even hijacked?
Klavier: ...
Phoenix: ...Also, you said it from the very beginning.

Klavier: Haha. Though for someone being featured, to be named as "magnificent attorneys" is...

Phoenix: When you said we were "featured",
it was also from before the TV station was hijacked.
Klavier: .........
Athena: Prosecutor Gavin, I hear "noise" coming from your heart!
Klavier: .........
Apollo: I've perceived your habit of brushing your hair when you're in a tight spot, Prosecutor Gavin.
Today's disturbance was something you planned all along!
Trucy: I-is that true?
Pearl: Please tell us the truth, Mr. Prosecutor Gavin!
Klavier: ...Heh. Hahahahaha!
Good job realizing it, everyone.
It seems calling you "magnificent attorneys" wasn't just a joke.
You're correct. The identity of the TV hijacker is me.
Quizkun: Coongraatuulaatioooons!
You truly are magnificent attorneys!
Athena: Q-Quizkun? Are you alright?
Quizkun: Kee-kee-kee! No worries, this was all according to my scenario writing.
You see, both Detective Fulbright and Prosecutor Gavin were accomplices to our program.
We were testing you to see how you'd do without a script!
I said it since the beginning, didn't I? I wanted to make sure you were indeed magnificent attorneys!
Apollo: What!?
Athena: Whaaaaat!?
Phoenix: ...My, my. I've been thinking that was the case.
Quizkun: But to realize that Prosecutor Gavin was the culprit is splendid!
I shall hereby declare you all "magnificent attorneys"!
Athena: Somehow... I just don't agree!
Pearl: Hehe. But this way, it's good for the agency's publicity.
Trucy: It'd be nice to see clients for my magic show come rushing in.
Apollo: ...First, we lose the script, and now we have to suffer through much more.
Phoenix: We'll be dead tired after all this.
Klavier: You weren't restricted to following the program plan through a script.
You still have much to rehearse, Herr Forehead & co.
Athena: Mr. Wright, Apollo. Could we all say one last thing together?
Phoenix: ...Sure, I'll join in too.
Apollo: Then, let's go for it all together! 3, 2, 1...

OBJECTION!

Apollo: ...And with that, the disturbance was settled within a single day.
After the show's live broadcast, our agency was swarmed with clients.
...Only, they weren't legal defense clients, but from quiz shows looking for recruits.
Even then, I'll still show up here every day!

I finally finished. I finally finished a single project, after so many hiatuses. Somehow, it just feels relieving to have it all compiled here.

4/5/19 edit: Readded screenshots and clarified a few comments here and there, and left a tip for the quiz with the politician.

Yay, thanks a lot! That looks like it had been a lot of work.

Out of curiosity, what happens if you give a wrong answer?

A brief piece of dialogue that's reused for every wrong answer at a certain scene, i.e. (paraphrasing here)

"Mr. Wright! If you keep going like this, we'll never beat Athena!"
"Eh, r-right, sorry..."

or

"Herr Forehead, you can't expect to win anything with that kind of logic."
"Ugh... Let me try that again!"

followed by a hint to the current quiz at hand and a chance to retry it or back out. Sometimes, that hint covers only the first question of a several-question quiz. Sadly, there's no relief for people who don't know a lick of Japanese for those questions highlighting Japanese. If anyone really wants to see them, I can go back and review through the script. But someone has to reeeally want it.

By the way, every time a question prompts you to point out something on screen, the current main character shouts "Take that!" because these things demand passionate voices.

And with the resolution of this case, I hereby declare Klavier as the stalker wannabe-friend to Apollo & friends, akin to Myriam.

New day, new post. I just read through it all in one go, whew! Anyway, that looks like a fun and light-hearted change of pace, and the puzzles seem to have a nice balance between easy and tricky, even though I'll have to admit I was mostly interested in the dialogue, which was very good. Athena and Phoenix felt very cocky though (but at least Phoenix' cockyness was just a facade). It was nice to see how the characters interacted with each other with their one-on-one-time.

This made me laugh out loud:
Spoiler: Chapter 4
Klavier: Shall I take it for you, Herr Forehead? I'm sure I could reach it.
Apollo: Urk... I-I'm fine! I can get it myself!
I... I'm sure I can jump for it!
Hup! Yah! Hah! Hah, I got it... huff, huff...
Klavier: :)

This was just cute:
Spoiler: Chapter 3
Pearl: Hehe. Athena, you've worked so very hard.
Athena: (...She stroked my head.)

Oh, Pearl... :pearly:

But...

Spoiler: Chapter 4
Trucy: Daddy, would you also protect me if I kill you?

Should we be worried?
