Obscure Sherlockiana (smiletowardstheheavens) has made a compilation of homages to Sherlock Holmes canon in DGS.

Someone may have posted this link already in one of the Baker Street forums, but I just wanted to bump this into it's own topic so that more people may notice it! :)

Interesting stuff. On the note about the Irregulars, Gina mentions in the credits that she's interested in criminal investigation, so maybe we might see her working for Holmes in a sequel.

Also, uh, any explanation on Holmes' crossdressing photo in his office?

Holmes would crossdress as a part of his (many) disguises, which is probably what that's meant to reference.

Some others I noticed not mentioned on that blog:

Episode 2:
Spoiler:
The Speckled Band references are easy enough to spot, but the story also borrows a lot from Silver Blaze: both features people getting drugged by dinner, an animal gone wild (partly) responsible for a human death and the infamous "negative" clue ("the curious incident of the dog at night-time", or in this case, "the curious incident in the log-book in night-time"

Episode 3:
Spoiler:
One of the jurors literally says "Silver Blaze"

Episode 4:
Spoiler:
The love-letter is from one Mary to one James. Mary Marston is Watson's wife (first appearing in The Sign of Four). While Watson is best known as John H. Watson, there's a scene in one of the stories where Mary calls Watson "James", which has been a source of speculation by Holmesians for a long time (one famous explanation is that H. stands for Hamish, which a Scottish variant of James). In DGS4, John Garrideb also notes that his name is John, and not James

Episode 5
Spoiler:
The message has four names of people from various nationalities (The Sign of Four

"One dumbbell, Watson! Consider an athlete with one dumbbell! Picture to yourself the unilateral development, the imminent danger of a spinal curvature. Shocking, Watson, shocking!" - The Valley of Fear
