I got the stepladders joke. xD I don't remember the exact wording, but when you're in-game try examining any ladders you see. After a while you'll catch on. It's not incredibly funny though.

Nah really I've got nothing for NickxFranny, it's just a mistake in the plot. I think T+T was still awesome without that.
Maybe she needs it to remind her what her duty as a prosecutor really is? Like the object has symbolic value to her that she's not quite ready to walk her own path as a prosecutor without.
