Doing game by game rankings is better imo, because having all the AA characters together would lead to a lot of conflict and be more boring, as you wonder whether Buddy Faith is better than Dustin Prince or something. Anyway, here we are:

^I'm inclined to agree, some of the characters are really hard to compare to each other and all in all it can get really overwhelming. I've wanted to do a new ranking but gave up because of that, so I'm borrowing the concept.
I ranked the characters based on how much I like them in the games in question, hence why some main characters may shift spots at times.

Glad to have helped :D

Well, yeah, main character's shirt spots a lot. Edgeworth is great in OT but he falls very short in stuff in SoJ where acts idiotically (in Turnabout Time Traveller, specifically).

Some random notes:

-Seeing Larry in your top 5 AA1 characters made me chuckle. He really went downhill after that, huh?

-Hotti below deKiller? Geez, you must hate him a lot.

-I especially like how only ONE main character is in your top 5 DD characters, and it's just the rival prosecutor.

-Pees'lubn not being number one character totally ruined your SoJ ranking >:( I demand an apology!

-Badd being top 1 character in both AAIs warms my heart <3

Haha, right? There he had some goofy charm and was a damn hero in the fourth case. In the investigation games he was very flat as a character and mostly annoying. And in SoJ he was downright creepy :/

Yeah, right :/ And then in 3-2 he just acted like a jerk to Phoenix and hit on a married woman. Which in all honesty should have been a hint to his creepiness in SoJ.

It was bad for characters in general, honestly XD Even the guy who made this forgot to add Constance Courte to the DD characters, which says a lot. But yeah, with main characters it was really bad. You have the weirdness of Aploplo (and even he's in the top three, which is saying something) Trucy reduced to a gag character, Athena who's mostly there while bogging up the cast. And somehow Pearl is below Klavier here, which is really saying a lot.

To be fair though, I think he's better at art than people give him credit for. He made two of the Thinker, and his sketches are realistic looking- except that of the bridge sketch, but he drew the thing in a hurry while in a sleeping position.

She seemed nice, yeah. Among other errors I noticed was Bellboy being a JFA character; Pearl being an AAI character; Betty not being an SoJ character; and dual identities getting separated (like Callisto and Shih-na & Nayna and Amara). Also did all the victims show up? I don't recall ranking Cindy, Jack or Goodman among a few others :(

Mm, meanwhile Datz was put as Ahnon Imous (spelling?) with his bearded pic, so at first I thought those were separated too and had to do the ranking over when I realized that wasn't the case.
