Alright, one moment...

DeLite = Delight, or Dee-Light.

Maya = Mai-Ah. Or My-Ah.

Cadaverini:

Cad-Ah-Ver-Een-E.

OR...

Cad-Ah-Ver-Ini (as in Ini, meenie, Miney Moe).

How does one pronounce Godot? I always say Goh-dot. Like a goat and a dot.

EDIT: That may be the single funniest thing I've ever typed. At least where Phoenix Wright is concerned.

In reference to :godot: .

He is a character in the French play Waiting for Godot by Samuel Beckett in which the characters wait for a man (Godot) who never arrives. It first premired Jan. 5th, 1953 so there's a good chance :godot: 's name is really pronounced
Quote:
in Britain and Ireland with the emphasis on the first syllable (i.e. /'gɒ.dəʊ/) and in North America it is usually pronounced with an emphasis on the second syllable (i.e. /gə'doʊ/). Beckett himself said the emphasis should be on the first syllable, and that the North American pronunciation is a mistake.
(Above from Wikipedia, if you don't get the pronunciation ask your parents, they'll know, how do you think I do?) Also I still find it better and more comfortable to pronouce it Godot with the T because Go-doh just doesn't sound right.

There's two ways to pronounce Desiree. The Western version, which I use is dez-err-ay. In French, it would be day-zuh-ray.

@Pearly1259: Well, they made it pronounce like 'Go-doh' because the Judge calls him 'Gobo' by accident, meaning that's how they meant it. Even if they're wrong. XD

I agree some of the names are difficult to get along with. I have no idea why but in JFA I would sometimes call Maya Mia instead. =/

Before the third game came out, since I didn't know who Godot was, I thought his name was pronounced with a T.

Oh, and I wasn't sure how to pronounce Maya's name at first.

That's about it though.

I still say Godot as "God-ought" or something like that; mostly because my friends and I didn't know the T was silent. But since we said that for, like, a year, it's just stuck.

I say Maya just as "May-ah" and Desirée as "Dez-er-ray".

Gotodt's really the only one I have trouble with.

For Deauxnim, I pronounce it like "Dew-nim". It doesn't seem right but I don't know how I'm supposed to pronounce it....

I say Godot as "Go-dot" cause it sounds so awsome that way. :godot:

I have been taught that the french "eau" is pronounced as "o". So I guess it would be something like "Dox-nim" or "Dux-nim".

On Spanish, at least :payne:

PD. Where I live nobody pronounces the last consonants so "Godot" is "Go-doh".

And Deauxnim? Hmm...

Doo-nim if you're lazy at pronouncing it, or if not, then "Deux-nim". One rhymes with "clue", the other rhymes with ... well, "the".

I prefer the first way for Franziska, and the second for Elise.

Although, if you want, you could also try to sound out the "r" in franziska with an "L", but it SHOULD rhyme with "tron", and not "Bran" anymore.

"Desirée" is supposed to be pronounced [de.zi.ʁe] (the reversed R is the French R). But there's a little problem... "Desirée" only have one "é", and the "actual" one is "Désirée". And if you scrupulously follow French pronouciations rules, "Desirée" would be pronounced [də.zi.ʁe]. Which isn't the meant pronouciation.

Also, I pronounce "Deauxnim" [do.nɛ̃]. Or "doh-nahn" with the closest English pronouciation. I can't tell to you how to pronouce [ɛ̃]. Except by "pronouncing an "eh" nasally". But I don't think that would help you guys.
English isn't my first language, so I apologize if you don't understand me. But this doesn't mean that you are not allowed to correct me, eh.

This is probably what leads Ron to call her "Dessie" for short. :-P

Like most people, I have normal pronunciations for most character names

Maya being My-uh
Mia being Me-uh
Godot I actually pronounce G'-doh with really no emphasis on the first O at all.
Deauxnim at first I thought could be "Doh-neem" but it could be "Doh-nim" with no emphasis on the I, or "Du-neem" or "Du-nim"... Tricky.
And Franziska I always pronounced phonetically "Fran-zis-ka" with the "fran" rhyming with "Pan" but it could be "Frahn-zis-ka" or even "Frahn-zees-ka" or even by stretch of fancy "Frahn-zhis-ka" or even further stretch of fancy "Fran-chis-ka".
Thank you for reading. I hope you have a wonderful day.
