^^ I hear you about the music. Everytime I play the game someone screems at me to turn it down.

I was having a conversation with my Mum about PW the other day. We got onto the topic of what people usually wear to court. She was like "If someone showed up to court wearing what Edgeworth wears, the Judge would be shocked! He would say, 'I can't hear you Mr. Edgeworth' whenever Edgeworth talked so then Mr Edgeworth would speak louder and the Judge would still say 'I cannot hear you Mr. Edgeworth!'. Judges say that if they think a person is in-appropriately dressed you know!"

And everytime we go to get Ice-cream or something, she says "But what flavour is it?" in an irish accent like in that Phoenix Wrong video 'Boot to the Head' which I'm sure most of you have seen.

My Mom is really into games that are more about solving things and finding clues, so I let her borrow Trials and Tribs one day. xD She said it was the funniest game she'd ever played, and she really enjoyed when she couldn't present the evidence. She said the way the judge made her look pathetic made her try harder, rofl.

My parents are sort of vaguely interested, and I call them downstairs (I have it on Wii) to see stuff like, say, Gant's breakdown. Of course, I have enough sense to keep them far away from anything to do with April May.

Also, they get pretty pissed when me and my brother debate Phoenix/Edgey at the table.

Man, you guys are lucky! My parents don't play video games, and they were shocked when I first told them about Ace Attorney. "What? It's a lawyer video gane? What do you do?" I guess they haven't realized that many video games these days have such unique concepts.

My mom gets kinda tired of me playing PW sometimes. She is very amused whenever I yell "Objection" into the microphone...especially when it doesn't pick up. The first time I did it she yelled from the other room "What the hell are you doing?". Once I explained it to her, she was amazed. Yesterday, I was playing 1-5 and upon seeing Edgeworth, this was how the conversation went.

Mom: "Who's that guy??"
Me: "That's Miles Edgeworth, the best prosecutor EVAR!"
Mom: "Does he ever smile? Just look at that scowl!"
Me: "Uhhh...sometimes..."
*at that point Edgey got particularly annoyed at Phoenix*
Mom: "Whoa! Just look at that face! He really needs to lighten up!"
*then I lol'd*

Dad:"Uhm, don't you ever fight or shoot something in this game?"
Me:"Nope"
Dad:"Isn't that kinda boring"
Me:"No it's not, it's like reading a book."

And I bet he thought "reading a book is boring too"

I'm currently trying to make "Au contraire mon frère" (Phoenix says that in JFA I think) populair within my family, but no luck... (I guess this hasn't really got much to do with the AA itself)

Also, I was on a holiday with my godmother last month, she said that the game was very intellectual and she liked to scream "HOLD IT" in the mic to...

On that same holiday the volume was pretty high and I just objected (just with L button) and the game said "OBJECTION!!", to which her husband said "WTF, did you just lose the game? :eh?: "

Without the WTF ofcourse

My parents really don't like video games. Here is an average conversation to my mom about Ace Attorney!
:phoenix: Yes, I finally beat Trials and Tribulations!

:phoenix: I love this game! I need to get more!
:lana: That's nice.

My dad played the first case of AA and he was laughing the whole way through. I play the orchestra and the regular soundtracks in the car wherever we go. He gets into the conversations I have with him about it too. My dad is cool with the whole series.

My mom could care less though.

My mother is just happy I'm not playing another "shoot-'em-up" game. Her words, not mine. I'm trying to get her into it. She's interested in trying it, but doesn't have time right now.

I believe my father would like it. I've yet to show it to him.

Back when I was on my first playthrough of Apollo Justice, my mom actually helped me spot something completely obvious that I was missing. She doesn't play any video games aside from the old Mario NES/SNES games and these weird puzzle games she downloads from Shockwave, though, so I can't get her completely into it :c

And my dad is too busy playing shooting games and Pokemon to give PW a run for it's money. Ah, well. Pokemon is better than nothing! :T

Well, my parents don't really care. They just nod and smile whenever I start going off about how 3-5 was awesome and all that.

I've gotten two friends almost converted, though! They're on 1-5 trial day 2. They can only really play when we get together because they don't have their own copies, so it's pretty much all we've been doing together for the past three months.

I don't know about my parents, but it would be interesting to show the game to my mother since she works in a court house. She doesn't understand any english though.

My roommates think it's boring. A videogame with text? *gasp* I got some friends into it, though. But most of them speak little to no english, so they just watch me playing...

I... don't tend to discuss my hobbies though, I'm quite shy and reserved so most people don't even know I like the AA series.

Yeah, my old friends would think like that too.
It would be like:
"Hey, these are cool games, take a look!"
"When do you get to kill stuff?"
"Uhm, never"
"So all you do is reading"
"Basically..."
"Why would you want to play such a games then, don't you have books for that?"

Yep, that's the most blatant problem when it comes to people reacting to the concept of Visual Novels... A game with text? Can't you read a book instead? B-but it has pictures! Can't you read a manga then? And so on...
People don't know what they're missing.

My sister and I both love the AA series, but we didn't really show them to our parents. Last week, my sister was replaying GS1, case 5, and she showed Gant's breakdown to my mom. Not the best move, I guess she thinks AA is really weird right now (after all, Gant's breakdown was kind of... epic).

Well, I'm the only one that understand english at my house, so...my parents can't play.
But the are aware that I play it and they think it's interesting.

My mom liked the music (especially the orchestra OST).

Oh, and I turned a friend into a AA-Addict, hehehe.

Occasionally my parents will watch me playing for a few seconds, read a piece of dialogue and chuckle. They're not much into video games but they apparently see the appeal in this one

But my little brother likes to watch me play the games all the time. He hates Jean Armstrong and oldbag and today i told him he is just like Larry (He actually is) and he freaked out when i told him if he's like Larry then he'l be a failing womanizer when he's like 26. :hobohodo:

I've told my dad about it and how he might enjoy it due to the need to use your head a lot, and he seems interested in trying it.

...now if only I could drag myself away from it so he can have a go.

Oh, he's also heard my sudden outburts when I get that case-breaking contradiction:

2-2
"OH! It was a BRITISH car!"
"Did you catch someone again?"

2-4
"OH MY GOD HE'S EVIL"
"That doesn't surprise me, they DID kill someone."

Well, I play the game a lot when I'm around my mom so she's sort of familiar with it.
I was on vacation and I brought T&T along with me, but then I beat it and I hadn't brought any other video games. So I ended up getting really bored, and somehow I started telling my mom all about Ace Attorney. I basically explained the plot up to around the middle of JFA.

Apparently based solely upon my description she ships Phoenix/Franziska.

Then again, she also thinks Phoenix's last name is "Rising".

((^hahaha, omigosh -- that drawing two posts up is AWESOME :godot:))

My mom is kind of obsessed with Judge Judy, The People's Court, etc... She's constantly tuned in to some sort of TV program dealing with *scoff* "real" crime cases.

So we have room to tease each other:
ARGUMENT: "Hmph, you and your silly court shows!"
REBUTTAL: "Hmph, you and your silly court games!"

However, my mom did actually sit and watch me as I played the whole PW trilogy on WiiWare. It was cool having someone with whom to speculate about stuff as the case went on -- and a second opinion for some of the important decisions, heh-heh. I assume she liked it well enough, because she was willing to try to watch over my shoulder as I started playing AJ on the DS. But it was really uncomfortable trying to squeeze two faces over a tiny screen, so she stopped... Still, I try to summarize the cases for her afterward.

Also, I'm proud to have gotten her in on a few of the game's jokes. On a regular basis, whenever we're out together, I point out random "ladders" to see if she'll humor me and respond, "No, it's a stepladder!" ...but only if you judge things based on narrow-minded cultural assumptions!

My mom's big into mysteries and humorous writing, so I think she'd like the PW games; she seemed to agree. Need to find a way to introduce her, though... I wonder if the iPhone version works on iPod Touches too? Or if she will actually get herself a Wii like she's considered in passing for Wii Fit's sake? -- Pteryx
