I feel kind of stupid asking...but here goes

There are some character names I can't figure out how to pronounce
I asked my best friend, and he's just as confused as me about some of them:
(sorry if my pronunciation spellings are sort of funny...)

Maya:
I think it's pronounced: My-a
My friend says: May-a

Mia:
I say: Mee-a
He says: My-a

Franziska:
He thinks it's pronounced like Francesca
I just have no clue about how to pronounce it

Godot:
Is it God-it or is the 't' silent ?

Please help!
Thankies! :edgy:

I have a friend named Maya and it's pronounced 'My-a'

Godot is pronounced 'Go-Doe'; the 't' is silent :)

As for Franziska and Mia, I think it's up to you how to pronounce them, but I say 'Mee-ah' and 'Fran-zis-kah'.

I pronounced Mia "My-a" all through the first case then met Maya in the second case and was like "crap!"
More accurately though, Maya is pronounced "Mah-ya" with a short o sound "Ma" rather than long i "my". It sounds about the same with the y afterwords but there's a subtle difference. :-P

Godot is 'Go-Doh'. I used to say 'Go-Dot' all the time, but then I heard a flash say it without the T, and I was like 'o_O What?" I liked 'Go-dot' more, because I thought it fit with the robotic look of his mask. Hehe. :P

I say 'May-a', but I'm pretty sure it's actually 'Mah-ya'.

No. Goh-doh sounds a lot better once you get used to it.

I think Lamiroir is pronounced la-me-roy, the last "r" is silent, because that's how it is in the Japanese version. although when I talk with my friends normally I pronounce it with the "r" :P

Maya would be ma-ya
Mia: mee-ah
Godot: Go-doh because that's how they pronounce it in the original "Waiting for Godot".

I pronounce Franziska fran(with "ah" not "a")-zis-ca but I'm not sure I'm right... but I like how it sounds, quite creepy :franny:

I thought Godot was Go-dot too, until I was told otherwise. The one I found quite strange was Diego. At first, I thought it was Dee-ay-go, but I wasn't sure. Then I thought Di-ee-go, until I heard the first one on the Simpsons.

Also, how do you pronounce Klavier? Is it Klav-ee-er or Klav-er?

There was a discussion about Klavier's name on GameFAQs. Several German-speakers said it should be "klah-veer".

Maybe so, but if you stick them all together instead of reading them part by part, I would say it's about the same thing.

I asked the German teacher at school about Klavier and he said it was pronounced klah-vyer. Said it to my mom, who used to be fluent in German, and she didn't correct me.

Lamiroir is formed from la miroir if I'm remembering correctly, so that's French, so I try to pronounce it as if it were French, Lah-mee-rahr.

And I tend to switch between Guh-dot and Go-doh for him. :P

I believe Vasquez is pronounced "Vaz kez" or "Vas Qez"

Miney is pronounced "Me-knee"

Basil is "Bay-zil"

How do you pronounce Viola's last name? I say "Cad-Uh-Vini

And is it "Tee-Grey" or "Tai-Gray?"

Deuxnim I believe is "Dew-Nim", not "ducks-nim"

Maggey Byrde's is "Byrd" or "Bi-rd?"

And one last one...is it "Dez-ray?" (Like the black UK Singer) or "Des-a-ray" or "Des-E-Ray?"

Vasquez is Vas-kwez I think. Ini is e-knee, Cadaverini is cad-da-vuh-re-nee (at least, that's how I say it). And Deauxnim might be De-ox/ax/ux-nim.

EDIT: It's said Deauxnim is pronounced like pseudonym, according to her profile.

Deauxnim like pseudonym? My brain doesn't entirely wrap around that. I pronounce it, again with my limited knowledge of French, so it sounds like duhs-nihm. (That's the best way I can describe it in writing.) Tigre, I'd say, is tee-grey, and also some tongue rolling on the r or a roar if one wishes. Because that's just Tigre.

this one shouldn't really have any problems its simply pronounce ca-da-ver-ini, as it's simply cadaver refering to corpse with ini added on.

If you want to pronounce names CORRECTLY...

Franziska: Frahn-ZEE-skah
Cadaverini: cah-dah-vair-EE-nee
Viola: vee-OH-lah
Godot: GOH-doh
Maya: MY-ah
Lamiroir: lah-meer-WAH
Ema: I don't think it's even a real name, but I say it like Emma. At first I thought it would be like emo with an a, but Emma is cuter.
Klavier: KLAH-veer
Kristoph: KREE-stahf
Gavin: GAH-vin
Dahlia: DAH-lee-ah
Iris: AI-ris
Deauxnim: Doe-NIM
