You need to get PyWright, put the Turnabout Substitution folder (the big one with all the stuff in it) in the games folder of PyWright, then run PyWright.exe

Question to you guys:
Spoiler: answer?
Who tipped off I think her name was Snow about the forged evidence? Was it Rhea? I want canon answer btw, because I could never figure out the possibilities.

I am at the start of the trial now and have a few things to say:

Spoiler:
*) I don't like Rhea and have the lingering suspicion that she's evil. I really hope that I am right.

*)OMG THE JUDGE HAS BIG SPRITES. I literally had to back off and pause the game when I saw those.

*)The Phone is AWESOME. I especially love (not) talking to Phoenix! XD His first call was especially nice, because he clearly snapped back into his Attorney-personality before Apollo explained everything to him. That's when he reverted back to Hobo, saddly.

*)And the crown for the funniest thing I've ever seen goes to.... JUDGE STRINGS TALKING TO HIMSELF! ROFLMAO! XD The thing with the Courtroom Nr. imediately after was brilliant as well!

All in all I have to say that this is an incredibly fun game. I just wish Rhea had more reactions to the different evidence. That one line of hers is starting to go on my nerves.

Otherwise, I am thrilled to find out how it continues! ^^

Spoiler: The Killer
Gee, I just read on another website who the killer is. Wow! How could Rhea!? :sadshoe: You know, Rhea is the name of the queen of the titans in mythology. I wonder if it represents how she is? But just to be sure, I will not post my thoughts right here (there are many words that might get me banned :ka-whip:) Still, Rhea definitely earns a spot next to our worthy villains, but compare to them, she makes them look like tame people :headbang: . Manfred killed his own rival, Dahlia framed her supposedly boyfriend, Kristoph betrayed his friend, but Rhea killing her brother? That takes the cake :fire: . But the breakdown is perfect. Manfred bangs his head on the wall, Dahlia appears as a crazed spirit, and Kristoph screams in agony :Kristoph-hair: . Rhea's fits perfectly with her. I mean, is it everyday you see a criminal trying to escape digging their way out of court with a shovel? :pearl:

Spoiler: Help
I'm just new to these games, so, I just found all the things in cell and the hall, so now what?

HA! I KNEW I had seen that hairdo and face somewhere before... Today, on TV tropes, I couldn't resist, but open the spoiler about Rhea's Character design... and that's when it hit me...

GOLDILOCKS DAHLIA! (I have nicknames for all the concept artworks that stay on my mind, especially the ones of Dahlia. There's Miko-Dahlia, Crazy-Camera-Dahlia, Sexy-Hexy-Dahlia, Sun-May-Not-Defy-May-Hat-Dahlia... AND THIS!)

I should have seen it right away... OMG...

Also, I'm incredibly glad that this means that she's most likely evil. XD

I couldn't help but look this up to see if it was true... AND IT IS. That was EXTREMELY clever of you guys to do that! I honestly had NO IDEA that Rhea's design was based off a Dahlia concept art. Just genius. :grossburg:

A long time ago, this was the first beta version i came up with.

As you can see, 2 aspects of Dahlia's concept art were merged.

(top right, bottom left)

Ofcourse, after a lot of revisions, the sprite came out looking quite different.
Here are the most noticeable ones. (there were a lot) XD (remember, I was still new at the whole spriting thing, so yes, afwul.)

But yes, those concept art pages inspired it.

Wow... I wish I could do that. No, really, I do.

And now... I am stuck. A bug came to haunt me:

Spoiler:
I am interrogating Strings and, yes, I do have the latest version of the game. For some reason, Apollo got stuck in interrogation-limbo regardless. I can go back, can't examine, can't move... There's just no Back Button. And to make things worse, I saved mid-conversation. Meep.

Help? Can my safe-game be... well, saved? X-x

@Neni: You can load any previous save, not just the latest one, so press F7 and pick a save that's earliest enough, and hopefully the second time around the conversation will go as normal.

No. I only get the latest safe. It doesn't even let me choose. I press F7 and the safe loads. No matter how long I press it, when I press it or how I press it. It's always the same, stupid safe. -.-;

Yep, sounds like they are still using 0.960. You should upgrade to 0.976. (Stay away from 0.980 as it is not well tested) The old saves should still be there even if 0.960 doesn't show them to you.

Btw,
Spoiler:
there simply shouldn't be a back button problem with the latest version of TS... the code pretty much makes it impossible (there's 2 "set _show_back_button true"s in that very script!) so there's nothing we could do to remove that issue if it indeed is one. Since, to my knowledge, you're the first to have it since the latest release, that probably means it was due to your having an earlier version of PyWright. I hope that's the case, otherwise it doesn't make any sense :p

OOOOOOKAAAAY, I am through now!!! ^^

YAY!

Now, my personal review on the game:

Spoiler: Review is Review X-P
First of all, for a fangame, this was BEYOND exceptionally well made! Sure, there was a little bug here and there, but it was much more than just playable, something most fangames can't claim of themelves! The sprites were well-made, if not a little few (especially Rhea could have really used a few extra poses, to be honest...), the dialouge was very well written for the most part. (except for a few really forced references. The Sephiroth one, for example, WOULD have been brilliant, had it stopped right there. Once Apollo mentioned cosplaying as Sephiroth, it became a major case of Don't Explain The Joke for me. For once, I actually identified with Rhea for telling him to stop riding on this dead horse.)
Some of the turns really blew me away and the cross-examinations were really believable as well.

If I might make some contructive critism, however, there were a few things that bugged me:

a) The music. I know, I know, classic music was a theme in the case, but, except for Jessica Poole's theme (which I loved and is so going onto my I-Pod), nothing really seemed to... fit. And, to be honest, Rhea's theme was the main reason I suspected her of being evil right of the bat. Dunno, corny String-Music just SCREAMS "evil" in my ears. I have to say, I actually felt tempted to go to the game files and switch that track for something else, because I really couldn't stand hearing it looping round and round and round any longer...

It's not bad music, not at all, but really, the music often killed the excellent mood and atmosphere of this game and was it's main-source of narm. AA music needs to be more simple, yet emotionally-loaded at the same time. Otherwise it just... doesn't fell right. Dunno. :sadshoe:
I actually might go, replace the tunes in the folder with tunes from older AA games and try playing the game without the original music, just to see if it really works as much better as I imagine it would.

b) Some leaps in logic were a little... far-fetched, but that's not that bad. The actual games have that from time to time as well after all. However, in the end Polly really got pretty... let's call it "fast" with his deduction and I actually needed to go to the script-folder and decifer the game coding in order to find out what I was supposed to do. :keiko: Felt like a Layton Puzzle... "You need to find the killer, but the files you have on hand make no sense. Try to decifer this top secret script in order to figure out who did it."
Or I just fail at thinking out of the box and need some lessons with Mia. :youngmia:

c) Now that one bugged me quite a lot: The scene when Polly figured out about Rhea. Now, sure, I hate Rhea and I agree with her that she's Obviously Evil and went so much Femme Fatal on Apollo, it was painfully obvious that she was neither innocent nor as bubbly and cute as she claimed to be. Still, when Apollo had the revelation about the Gum, I think he should have been a little more... uhm... "reluctant" to believe that it was her. And Rhea should have really struggled longer to keep him under her spell. It just felt like I had missed something. Like somebody took several lines of dialouge, declared them unnecessary and threw them out of the window. The two of them were BFF/A FREAKIN' COUPLE one moment and suddenly, the very next moment, Apollo is convinced she's a Psychopathic Killer because of... Gum. OK, he was completly right about this and I'm glad he finally got it through his skull, but that wasn't really as believable of a turn as it should have been.
2-3 lines more of inner monolouge on Polly's part would have helped here. Just to show how he pieces together that she's been playing with him. You know, a little more like :delilah-hair: :jazzsneeze: .

3.) Rhea's breakdown was kinda... anticlimactic, I have to say. Too cartoonish. For a moment there, I wondered if she was trying to get a part in the New Adventures of Bugs Bunny... You know, you have this serious story and those awesome characters with realistic looks and everything... And then, suddenly, her eyes pop out like this and she conjures a shovel up from Hammerspace (Was that metaphoric? I guess so...) and digs her own metaphoric grave. I had actually hoped for a more Dahlia-Kristoph-esque breakdown for the Nietsche-wannabe that Rhea was. I mean, her whole Psychosis was a diliciously great evil motivation for an AA villian, and even though I still hate her, I think she deserved a different kind of breakdown. Or more sprites to prepare for it.

Of course, I KNOW how difficult Spiriting is, so I am NOT telling you to go and make more Sprites. The game is still awesome, it's just a little bit of a pity that not 100% of the potential that was there were reached.

However, I have to congratulate you for the postively EPIC ending sequence with Rhea in jail on the death row. It was satisfying beyond compare, deliciously creepy and... also quite sad.
This photoshopped(?) image of her and Apollo? Well, Polly told her she was heartless and couldn't feel love (Memo to myself: Come up with a possible japanese name for her which hides that in her Kanji, simmilar to Dahlia's name), but then, that scene happened and... Well, I had that suspicion all along. I think, despite her being a horrible, disgusting, creepy monster, I think she actually... felt something for Apollo. Like, actually fell in love with him.
Convicted by the only person she ever geniuely loved... OUCH.

I love that little human touch added to her in the end...

And I also love the bad-hair-day you gave her for this scene! ;-)

Best Fanmade game I ever played in any fandom.
Kudos!

Nenilein.

Spoiler:
I just began playing. It is really great so far, but there's one problem. I've presented both the blood and the gun to Ema in the Siamese's Cell, but all she says is her MUNCH MUNCH quote. Any Help? :yuusaku:

Spoiler:
Did you examine the gunshot on the wall, too? That's the only thing I can think of that might fix it...

I have examined the hole in the wall. I've examined everything in the cell.

Found a glitch for trial day 2 ( I think it's day 2 anyway, don't they start in the morning or something?)

Spoiler:
When you have to present the photos of Erlenmeyer, there is a back button on the bottom part of the screen. Clicking that automatically moves you forward.

Spoiler:
If loading a game just before the cell's investigation, finding the evidence and presenting the blood and the gun again doesn't work, either restart the game or put this in intro.txt
Code:
addev attorneybadge
addev bracelet
addev apollo$
addev judge$
addev chambersrequest
addev rhea$
addev rheabusinesscard
addev ema$
addev gun
addev bloodupdated
setflag halfinvestigation1

script scene7menu

after "include evidence" instead of what's here by default.

Then start a new game, which'll get you directly to the Prison Cell, and present the gun (and only the gun) to Ema. It should normally work.

You're the first to have that specific problem, but not the first to have a problem near this part, which leads me to believe it has something to do with the "noflag" command (after all, you don't really need it, "flag" is enough since it'll move to the next line if said flag isn't set, therefore I'll try to see what happens if I just remove it). Sorry about this bug, but at least it's been very useful, so thanks.

Spoiler:
Did you load a game in the middle of trial day 2? That might be the reason. Maybe the game doesn't remember the "set _back_button false" because the variable was set before the line you loaded. Still, thanks for bringing that to my attention, I'll check whether I didn't just forget to set it false after setting it true at one point.

First off: awesome game, bit odd when that error box pops up, but ok.

Second thing, need help:
Spoiler:
On the second day when the Judge is killed and you're in court trying to cross examine Detective Marshall, is there a contradiction in his first statement or should I move on?

Guys, it's me again. :-P

After finishing the game, I just couldn't help but wonder: "If that game had a japanese version, what would Rhea's Japanese Name be?" And since I currently have to study Kanji anyway and know from our Uni Lectures that in Japan, every Name can use any reading of any of the Kanji, no matter how obscure the reading is, I came up with a "punny" name for her myself. I'd like to hear your opinion. Consider this fanwork for your fanwork. ;-p

So, the name is:

Miseki Shiniga (思二画 実赤)

Spoiler: Contains Plot Spoiler
The Kanji in the name mean the following:
The last name's first Kanji means "Feeling" or "thought" and is contained in many phrases that are used to express an intention, hinting at her hidden intentions, as well as the fact that she is trying to manipulate Feelings.
The second Kanji means "2", since she is Apollo's "second" assistant. The third Kanji means "Image".
So together, they can be taken to mean "imagined/intended second image", hinting at how she is keeping up a facsade.

The first name, "Miseki" contains the Kanji for "Beauty" and "Red", so it literally means "Red Beauty".

Aditionally, when readen in Japanese order, the name sounds like "Shiniga MiSeki", which would pretty much ammount to "Red Goddess of Death". A first time player would probably come to the conclusion that this name hints at her occupation as a funeral director and wouldn't see the other meaning behind that pun.

So much for my Kanji lecture.
I'm done. I hope you like the name.
