In celebration of the recent GS film why don't we... Cast the Official Unofficial Court Records Hollywood Ace Attorney Film Series, that's right SERIES as in every freaking character! Nominations are now open with Phoenix being first up for the vote (in 1 weeks time). I will edit the first post to display all nominees so everyone has a fair chance. If you also write why you think a particular actor should or should not have the role I'll post your comment bellow the actor's picture in a little pros and cons list although your comment has to be more than I like/dislike this character. Also if you could post a picture of your nominee that would make my life so much easier. So get nominating!

Nominations for Phoenix Wright (Nominations for Phoenix close and poll opens on 25th of August. You can still nominate an Actor for Phoenix!):

Spoiler:
Image
Zach Braff (nominated by Detective Rossco)

For- Phoenix is a character that is both humorous and serious. We all know Braff can be comedic (Scrubs) but some aren't too sure about his serious side. Now I could point out the serious stuff he's done, but I think Scrubs also proves that he can be serious as his character J.D has often had to deal with the death of patients, the deep depression of his mentor as well as the deaths of friends (Lavern) and his father. - Detective Rossco

Against - Zach Braff? Don't think he's quite serious enough. - Pierre

Image
Josh Radnor (nominated by joeonamission)

Image
Ryan Gosling (nominated by Axmann8)

Image
Jim Carey (nominated by ZiggyIsGrape)

Against- While Jim Carey is a fantastic actor, he recently hit 50, he's just too old for the role in my opinion. - Detective Rossco

Nominations for Miles Edgeworth (so far, still open):

Spoiler:
Image
Benedict Cumberbatch (nominated by Detective Rossco)

Image
Zachary Quinto (nominated by darquegk)

Image
James McAvoy (nominated by Tiramisu)

Image
Christopher Walken (nominated by ZiggyIsGrape)

Against - Think Christopher Walken is too old to play Edgeworth - Pierre

Nominations for Maya Fey (so far, still open):

Spoiler:
Image
Ellen Wong (nominated by Detective Rossco)

For - I really think for the whole spirit medium culture (especially the robes) to fit into a Western film, that the Fey clan should be portrayed by Asian-American/Canadian actors, this also allows for a much more diverse cast. Scott Pilgrim vs. the world shows that Ellen Wong could easily pull off Maya's character. - Detective Rossco.

Image
Alison Brie (nominated by darquegk)

Image
Selena Gomez (nominated by Axmann8)

Nominations for Detective Gumshoe (so far, still open):

Spoiler:
Image
Patrick Warburton (nominated by Detective Rossco)

Image
Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson (nominated by Pierre)

Image
Christopher Eccleston (nominated by Pierre)

Image
Robert Davi (nominated by Arctica)

Image
Greg Grunberg (nominated by darquegk)

Nominations for Manfred von Karma (so far, still open):

Spoiler:
Image
Christopher Lee (nominated by Pierre)

Image
Christopher Walken (nominated by Arctica)

Image
Gary Oldman (nominated by Detective Rossco)

My Personal Cast:

Spoiler:
Phoenix Wright - Someone who can play a role that involves both comedic and series events, plus crazy hair.
Image
Zach Braff

Miles Edgeworth - Was going to go with Matt Smith at first but he a bit too silly for Edgeworth so...
Image
Sherlock himself Benedict Cumberbatch

Dick Gumshoe - A big dopey friendly guy who can at times be authorative.
Image
Patrick Warburton

Larry Buttz - A lovable loser, who can be quite the ladies man at times.
Image
Sean William Scott

The Judge - A bit of an odd choice but if you see his look in Iron Man...
Image
Jeff Bridges

Mia Fey - I felt the best way to make the spirit channeling culture work within a western film was to have the Fey clan be potrayed by Asian actresses.
Image
Camille Chen

Maya Fey - Anyone who's seen Scott Pillgrim vs. the World should know that this is agood choice.
Image
Ellen Wong

Marvin Grossberg - Someone with experience when it comes to court...
Image
Denny Crane, I mean William Shatner... Aw hell Denny Crane.

April May - A flirtatious babe with a nice pair of... um... eyes.
Image
Scarlett Johansson (I also thought Katy Perry but then remembered she can't act)

Winston Payne - A wimpy man with a shrieking voice. Though a bit young for the character I still say...
Image
Tony Hale

Frank Sahwit - I kinda get a bit of an Idian feel from him, due to the dot on his head so...
Image
Iqbal Theba

Redd White - We need an actor who can be both funny and serious along with the right look so my pick is...
Image
Alec Baldwin

Yanni Yogi - Once again we need an actor who can switch personalities, from funny hobo to serious murderer.
Image
Steve Buscemi

von Karma - I too thought Christopher Lee... Until I saw....
Image
Gary Oldman (pictured here as Beethoven). I really can't picture anyone else playing him now.

alt. Judge - I know I already cast him but I just thought of two more actors who could play the role.
Image
Will Ferrell

and

Image
Robin Williams

alt. April May - She really can't act but she has the look,

Image
Katy Perry

What to do you think so far? Any changes? If so what?

Voting order (so far)

Phoenix Wright
Miles Edgeworth
Maya Fey
Detective Gumshoe
Manfred von Karma
Mia Fey
Franziska von Karma
Godot
Larry Buttz
The Judge
Winston Payne
Pearl Fey
:gumshoe:
Just Gumshoe

Zach Braff?

Don't think he's quite serious enough. Though Sean William Scott would Ace Larry.

How about...

Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson for Gumshoe

And Christopher Lee for Von Karma...

Speaking of Christophers.....Christopher Eccleston might make a better Gumshoe than Dwayne Johnston.

I'd also maybe commend Robert Carlisle for Joe Darke...what little screentime he would have.

I was thinking the same recently! Christopher Lee would be a great Von Karma, then again Christopher Walken would also do a good job.

Robert Davi (Profiler) always made me think of Gumshoe haha

Those two choices are fucking brilliant.

Anyways, I can only name one off the top of my head at the moment. Gemma Arterton as Mia Fey.

I have always supported Zach Braff!Phoenix, and I used to be hugely into Patrick Warburton as Dick Gumshoe, but after watching Heroes, I'm swayed to say Greg Grunberg as Gumshoe instead.

That said, Zachary Quinto as Edgeworth, anyone?

A few more of my favorites:

The Judge: Colin Mochrie
The Judge's Brother: Ryan Stiles
Meekins: Martin Short
Damon Gant: Michael Caine
Maya: Alison Brie
Mia: Jennifer Love Hewitt

Ginnifer Goodwin as Maggey

Evan Rachel Wood as Dahlia

Now, no one is perfect for Edgey because Edgey himself, is, well, perfect. But James McAvoy is my top choice

I think Selena Gomez is the wrong ethnicity for Maya especially if other members of her extended family are being cast as Japanese.

Also I think Laura Linney looks too old to suit Mia.

If David Bowie was younger he'd be perfect for Max Galactica XD

Margaret Cho is Korean, not Japanese.

I wasn't giving thought to those types of things considering that I'm more looking at individual characters rather than the cast as a whole.

Pierre wrote:

Their ages are pretty far apart I suppose (keep in mind that during Exorcism she was 41) but you'd be hard-pressed to find a 26-year-old IRL who looked as old as Mia does. Her official age may be 26, but she looks older than that to me. Maybe early to mid-30s.

Think Christopher Walken is too old to play Edgeworth opposite Carrey since they'd have to look relatively similar ages.

I'd say Walken is more of a shoe-in for Eldoon or Von Karma

So I thought up some more recently including a couple of alternatives.

Redd White - We need an actor who can be both funny and serious along with the right look so my pick is...
Spoiler:

Alec Baldwin

Yanni Yogi - Once again we need an actor who can switch personalities, from funny hobo to serious murderer.
Spoiler:

von Karma - I too thought Christopher Lee... Until I saw....
Spoiler:

Gary Oldman (pictured here as Beethoven). I really can't picture anyone else playing him now.

alt. Judge - I know I already cast him but I just thought of two more actors who could play the role.
Spoiler:

Will Ferrell

and

Image
Robin Williams

alt. April May - She really can't act but she has the look,

Spoiler:

Katy Perry

I also had a thought, why don't we take these suggestions put them to a vote and we can cast the Official Unofficial Court Records Hollywood Ace Attorney Film Series, that's right SERIES as in every freaking character! Nominations for Phoenix Wright are now open. I will edit the first post to display all nominees so everyone has a fair chance. If you also write why you think a particular actor should or should not have the role I'll post your comment bellow the actor's picture in a little pros and cons list although your comment has to be more than I like/dislike this character. I definitely agree with Cumberbatch as Edgeworth.

Honestly, I think Javier Bardem would make the perfect Godot. He has the look, plus he has same deep voice that Godot possesses. He's also very good at playing both intimidating and suave character, which is why I think he would be a perfect fit.
Spoiler:
Image

Some other candidates I have:
Mia Fey - Rose Byrne

She's about the same age as Mia, has a similar look, and has also played a lawyer on the show Damages, so she has the experience playing a lawyer character. The only negative is that she doesn't exactly match Mia when it comes to breast size, lol. :godot:

Spoiler:
Image

Marvin Grossberg - John Goodman

This was a tough one, but with Goodman being similar to Grossberg's size and being an older, experienced actor, I think he would make a great Marvin Grossberg. I wanted to go with someone who was Jewish, but it's really hard to find heavy-set Jewish actors.

Spoiler:
Image

Winston Payne - Michael Stuhlbarg

My original choice for Grossberg due to him actually being Jewish, but he really doesn't have the physique for Grossberg. He does look a lot like Winston Payne though in the movie A Serious Man, so I decided to keep him in the cast for Payne.

Spoiler:
Image

Finally, for Phoenix Wright, I'm throwing out Jesse Eisenberg. He's a good actor, around Phoenix's age, and does good playing both dramatic and comedic characters. I also think he would be a good candidate for Apollo as well since he's good at playing smartass characters.

I think you're right, so I'll change my pick for Phoenix.

John Krasinski

A lot of Phoenix's "inner thought" dialogue makes me think of Jim from The Office and come on, you can't look at that face and tell me you don't see Phoenix even a little bit.

Spoiler:
Image

While I agree wholeheartedly with the Benedict Cumberbatch nomination for Edgeworth, I'd like to throw a nomination of my own.

Armie Hammer

You might be thinking, "huh?" at first, but seriously, watch him in The Social Network and tell me his voice and overall attitude doesn't scream "Edgeworth!"

Spoiler:
Image

Since no one's made a nomination for Franziska yet, I'm gonna throw one out.

Mary Elizabeth Winstead

Ok, it's just because she had blue hair in Scott Pilgrim vs. The World and probably wouldn't make a very good "bitchy" character, but hey, I don't see anyone else trying to cast Franny.

Spoiler:
Image

Even though he's not on the list, I'd like to voice my nomination for Klavier Gavin.

Chris Hemsworth

This one's pretty obvious. He can pull off the accent, and with long hair he looks a lot like what I picture Gavin looking like in real life.

Spoiler:
Image

Anyways, that's all I got for now. Maya is really the only character that I'm having trouble casting.

Shailene Woodley. After seeing the film adaptation of Divergent, I thought she would make a good Athena.

Spoiler: Simon Blackquill

Zachary Quinto. While most people see him as Edgeworth, I think he's a good choice for Blackquill.

I'm so siiiiiiiiick and tireeeeeeeeeed of seeing Benedict's face everywheeeeeeereeeeeeeee.

Alright, he's a good actor and all, but the internet is so full of him and I can't escape even though I want to, because if I was to escape I couldn't visit buzzfeed or... anything at all.

Oh woah. Constructive post. Great, Godot.

I might be biased because I'm a Game of Thrones fan, but I think everyone who watches would agree that Charles Dance could make a legendary Manfred Von Karma

Aiden Gillen (he's from the Wire if you don't watch GoT) could also be De Killer or Kristoph Gavin. Maybe even Luke Atmey

And even though she's old, Betty White would make a great Sister Bikini

I always thought Timothy Omundson would make a good Miles Edgeworth, but after seeing this picture, I think he could make a pretty Gregory Edgeworth.
