-The broken glass at the crime scene is irrelevant. It floated off of the people who arrived to discover the body (lots of broken glass falling from the explosions)

Ryuji gulped, and looked away from the others. "W-With our plan...s-so the killer could have been aware of our plan, b-but that doesn't really make sense with how Crimson died. C-Crimson after all was at the main entrance first..."
Ryuji clutched his chin. "T-There was a period of time when five people were unaccounted for, b-but me and Van were in the same place. W-When I first dropped down the elevator with Flo, V-Van was there too, and Flo yelled down to us that Jay, Crimson, Sakura, Matt, and Alchie were unaccounted for. C-Could that have been when Crimson was targeted..?"

Um... we can narrow down the times the pillar of fire was there for, though, and maybe get more of an idea as to its purpose that way. For starters, it wasn't there when Arthur and the others first escaped. And, we know it disappeared exactly at the time Matt was at the top, looking for a way down, which was just after the Time Machine Room explosion. So if the growth bullet only lasts for up to 5 minutes, we know it was started, at the earliest, at 19:00, the time of the Chemical Lab explosion. I think this lines up with peoples' testimonies, too, as Ryuji was able to get up to the second floor just before this when he went to rescue Flo, but after the Chemical Lab explosion he found the stairs were suddenly blocked by the fire. So... I'd say the fire was on between 19:00 and 19:05. But as for why... I really couldn't say. Blocking the stairs seems to be the only purpose, but did that even do anything meaningful for the true culprit?"
