Albert also doesn't check up on Ghost because he already has and is busy gorging himself with ice cream without any silverware to even pay attention to the others. Freak.

They found Ghost not far from the hidden door, leaning against one of the bookshelves. Due to the visored helmet it wasn't clear what they were doing exactly, but they apparently noticed the pair's arrival. "Oh, hello," Ghost said politely, tone as indistinct as ever. "Did the trial start already? Am I needed?"

Bradley frowned "No one needs you Ghost." he spat "What did Miss Midge say to you anyway to upset you like that?" he asked regaining his composure.

"Yeah, they can take their time," Midge says coolly. "That was kind of an unexpected reaction, but that's alright. It's kind of my fault."

Midge sighs as she finishes the dinner roll.

"That was very good, maybe we should pack up the leftovers in case we get hungry."

"Y-yeah, you had it coming", Albert says angrily, stuffing scoops of ice cream into his mouth like the pig he is. He continues eating when a thought suddenly enters his mind.

"W-wait, Midge. You said you were a librarian, right? How are you homeless if you've got a job?"

Emma looked worriedly at the others in the dining room. "Can we trust Null on this? After that decision with the protein bars, giving us food so easily seems like some sort of-"

She paused and put a hand to her head, seemingly in pain. "...I suppose we can't afford to not accept food at this point." With a sigh, she searched the table for one of the vegetarian plates and began eating.

"...You do realise I'm still the ones with the vaccines, right?" Ghost said, turning away from Bradley a little. "The vaccines I risked my life for, despite not needing them myself? It's my way of trying to be useful."

"I don't know who I am. I have no memories, and this suit hides away anything else I might have called 'me'. With so little to call my own, I can only cling to what I do have: 'Ghost', and the surety that I'm human and captive like the rest of you, despite my unusual circumstances. Midge suggested I might be... fake, a homunculus, and that really got to me. Still, sorry if I caused a fuss. I think I'm okay now." Despite the assurances, Ghost's black visor gave away nothing as to what they were really feeling, even as they turned to face Bradley again.

Bradley clenched his fists "So what if you have the vaccines? You gave up the power to decide what to do with them and put them to a vote." Slowly Bradley took a deep breath and relaxed "But it doesn't matter. You shouldn't be so stupid. Of course there's someone inside that suit. If you are mad at Miss Midge for suggesting that it's only because you had your own doubts and were worried about it. Don't go taking it out on other people and come back to the table, dummy." he finished petulantly.

Violet finished her roll and sat down. "How long until this trial starts, anyways? Do we have to do something first?" She instinctively reached into her skirt pocket before pulling her hand out, scowling. "I wish I had my phone."

"T-they took your phone?", Albert asks. "I-I guess that makes sense. T-they wouldn't want us trying to contact the outside world... If only there were such a way", he sighs.

"Well... actually, we only voted on whether or not we'd go with Adriana's plan," Ghost said uncomfortably. "Right now I'm still the one with the decision on who gets the full dosages of the vaccines. N-not that I want to hold this over you or anything!" they added, their more typical mannerisms returning. "This is just how it is right now. Hopefully with this next trial there won't need to be any contention anyway."

Ghost seemed content to return to the dining room now, at least.

“Look, it’s tough, cuz there are two of you.

“There’s the you that’s the bastard that’s abducted us, and has been taunting us while wearing the same fucking suit they used to abduct us by hiding behind a lie so stupid and ridiculous we have no way to disprove it, that’s watching us tick down to our final breaths from behind that visor, and that pretended to risk their life just to snatch away the one thing that could save some of us.

“...But then there’s the you that’s alone and scared, that doesn’t have a single damn thing to their—that doesn’t even have a name, that’s trapped inside a suit that can’t come off and that was used to kidnap everyone, that isn’t trusted by anyone and has no way to gain any trust. And yet, despite all that, has remained kind and calm, and risked their life when they had not a fucking thing to gain. And yknow what? I really admire that you.

“But there’s two of you. And we never know which one we’re talking. So it just makes it... difficult. Got it?”

After a pause, Teddy adds, a bit sheepishly, “Plus this fucking situation isn’t helping, and I wouldn’t take everything Midge says too seriously. She seems like she might have all her nuts tightened in the right places, if you get what I mean.”

Midge let's out a labored breathing in response to Albert's question.

"I'm between jobs. Things went really poorly for me around the time my darling--," suddenly Midge's eyes glisten with tears. "--the time my darling died."

She pulls at a chain around her neck and everyone can see a silver wedding band hanging from it. She grips it fiercely and bows her head silently for a moment.

Her voice shakes as she continues, "Anyway, times were tough, I lost my wonderful job as an elementary school librarian, and soon everything was gone. It's been decades since then."

"Anyway, maybe one day I'll get back to it."

She just stares at Albert blankly.

Bradley looked at the key "I suppose whoever can turn it here must be 'The Challenger' as it is. Do you think Miss Null has one of these for all of us." he glanced at his watch "I doubt we'll all get to see them though at this rate." he muttered quietly.

Teddy turned the key. A slot on the table opened in front of him. Immediately after, a lone canister of gas fell from the ceiling. A quiet, hissing noise filled the room.

“Is that the…”

“Null’s...gas…?”

Some people attempted to run for the door, but they fell unconscious before they even reached. Eight bodies collapsed in a short amount of time.

Spoiler: The Challenger
“Ugh…” Violet rubbed her head as she woke up in the dining room. “How long…?”

Bradley pressed his watch. “...just two minutes.”

“What’s the point of knocking us out for-?” Albert didn’t finish his sentence. The answer was clear.

Ghost laid down in the middle of the room, a small hole in the abdomen of his suit. A fire poker was sticking out of him, pointed like an arrow towards the sky. It was difficult to tell if he was dead or alive, but after shaking and prodding him enough times...the truth was clear.

Hello. Teddy.” Null announced. “Welcome to your trial.”

"H-Huh?" Helios trembled as he stared at Ghost's remains. He took a few slow steps backwards. "H-How...Who...Wait..." A grim look passed over Helios's face as he had a disturbing thought. "Th-The vaccines..."

Helios darted for the body, searching for the vaccines.

Bradley looked at the body of Ghost absently as if dazed. Silently he moved over to the body and gripped the fire poker.

Mustering his strength he attempted to rip into the suit. Intent on revealing the contents by cutting it open.

Midge looks down at Ghost's corpse and back to Teddy, her head cocked to one side.

"Who would kill somebody with no identity?"

"Ghost wouldn't have collapsed in the smoke, but looks like someone else was still up too. Someone bad."

The suit barely budged. It seemed that the rubber was tough, and while it was possible to pierced, slicing it a significant amount was no small feat.

Helios looked around Ghost's body. "T-The vaccines aren't here!"

Midge went to the door they came through, trying the handle. It was locked.

"U-Uh...guys..." Helios had pushed Ghost's body over slightly. Underneath him was...was... "T-The vaccines! T-They're shattered!"

"WHAT?!"

The bickering was cut before it began by Null. "Teddy. Throughout your career, you've always prided yourself on your instincts. This trial will put them to the test.

"Here are the rules: the person who killed Ghost is in this room. Whoever kills them will receive a vaccine, and the trial will end.

"Round 1 will last 30 minutes. You can kill someone in this time, or abstain. You will know if you chose correctly by the end of the round. If you did not, the next round will begin.

"Teddy. If you say the words 'exit trial' now, the trial will end. No vaccine will be rewarded."

Seeing the futility in his attempts to cut the suit with the fire poker, a dark anger was stirred in Bradley. Tears came to his eyes as he began to scream in rage. Tearing the poker out of the suit he began to repeatedly stab into Ghost's body. Piercing further holes and coating himself in Ghost's blood. Then in a moment of madness, Bradley began to stab furiously at the visor.

The overall situation seemed to be getting to Helios. He paced frantically around the room, furiously attempting to comb his hair.

He whirled around to face Teddy. "Listen, man... You know I didn't do this, right? Y-You can trust me...right?"

“Jesus fucking Christ what the fuck are you doing?!” Teddy shouts as he snatches the poker from Bradley’s hands. “Don’t you know about preserving the crime scene and all that crap?! Besides, he risked his life to get vaccines for you and Violet! Don’t fucking desecrate his corpse!”

Teddy took a step back and, having seemed to have calmed down a little, sighed. “...Although if Bradley could stab Sunshine like that, I guess anyone could have. So much for eliminating people that way...”

Emma put a hand on her head as she assessed the situation. "S-So whoever killed Ghost wanted to destroy the vaccines...?" She said, struggling to keep her voice calm.

She turned to Teddy. "...are you planning to go along with what Null said? Finding the killer, and...killing them?" She asked uneasily.

Bradley snarled and lunged after the poker but it was already safely away in Teddy's hands. Turning back to the body, Bradley sniffled and weeped quietly, occasionally mustering the strength to smack the visor with his fists.

“Of course,” Teddy replied matter-of-factly, surveying the poker in his hands. “Besides, with Sunshine’s vaccine’s gone, this is our only shot at saving anybody. If I quit, we’ll all just die in agony in 4 hours. Think of it as... me putting them out of their misery sooner.”

Surprisingly, Emma just nodded in response. "Ultimately, more people will die if we don't get that vaccine, and we're running out of time."

She approached Ghost's body, a determined look on her face. "Of course, we can't trust anyone to investigate by themselves, not for something this important. I'll be helping you out with this."

After a moment, Teddy nodded. “Just don’t think I’m fucking stupid enough to trust you alone.”

He suddenly turned towards Adriana. “How much experience do you have investigating homicides? And don’t you fucking dare play dumb,” he said, pointing the poker squarely at her neck.
