“A-Adriana… why?”, Albert stammered, in a mixture of anger, confusion and sorrow. “G-Ghost…after all he did for us, you… how the hell could you?!”, he roared, suddenly by Teddy’s side. “Was it because of the vaccines?! You w-wanted to save your own fucking ass while leaving us to rot?! Is that your plan?! Y-you… GRRRRRRRRAHHHGGGGGGGH!” He clenches his head in fury, roaring at the top of his voice.

…And suddenly, he looks up again. The cold look to his face… has returned.

“Well now. So this is what you’re playing at now, are you? Think you’re smart with your foolish hostage situation, Addy?” He chuckles nonchalantly. “Aim it at her skull, Care-Bear”, he suddenly instructs Teddy. “Try to get her distracted before shooting her too. Either way though, you’ll get a vaccine from killing her, right? So while there’s a possibility we’ll lose a vaccine if she breaks hers, we’ll still gain one. So she has all to lose here.” He smirks.

Hearing Teddy, he nods. “Sure thing, boss. I don’t want you in possession of those vaccines, but the least I can do is check those out.” He goes to examine Ghost’s corpse with little regard to what it had once been.

“Just one vaccine”, Albert yells. “So it’s the real deal over there with Addy. You shot her yet, by the way?”, he asks innocently. “Taking a lot of time there, Care-Bear.”

"No one cares what you have to say, Albert." said Adriana coolly. "And I'm not putting this vaccine down until Helios gets over here and I'm out of the line of fire."

"In the meantime, I guess I was asked some questions." she continued. "Something to do with why I have this vaccine? I have no idea. All I know is that I didn't have it on me when I first woke up-- from the lockers, that is. And at any rate, I'd hope that you all realize that I'm not so dumb as to keep something so incriminating on myself. I didn't kill Ghost. And another thing-- if I took this vaccine, why wouldn't I put it in the secret compartment that's already in my purse."

"And on that note-- if Helios ever gets over here to check, he'll find what I put in my purse's secret compartment (I doubt that the killer would've thought to check in there; they probably were just looking for a place to stash the vaccine to incriminate me). I was alone when I was taken, and when I travel alone, I always take my industrial-strength pepper spray with me. If you think that had anything to do with Ghost's death, then I don't even know what to say."

Albert gives a bark of a laugh at Adriana's comment, quickly dismissing it. "Well, Tessy?" He turns to Helios. "You knew about this secret compartment, or is she bluffing? I suppose you can go check that out, anyway. But, more importantly, Addy, even if you were set up, then why all this? You could've just told us all this without the hostage bull and surrendered the vaccines. Hell, if we really wanna trust you, you should hand over the vaccines to us. Putting your life on the line like that is a much more noble way to earn your trust, eh?" He gives a slight grin.

"And what's with all these weapons here, anyway? First Care-Bear's gun, then ol' Midgey's knife and now Addy's pepperspray? The armoury feels almost redundant now, doesn't it?"

"I don't know a thing about any 'secret compartment,'" Helios said, "But then again, it's not like I've been rooting through her purse recently. For all I know, she's telling the truth. Frankly, I don't know who to trust anymore."

Helios cautiously approached Adriana, intending to follow Teddy's instructions.

Hearing the words “pepper spray,” Teddy took a few steps away from Adriana, then lifted the gun so it was pointing towards the ceiling and the weight was resting on his shoulder. “All right, let’s see if we can make a deal. You can keep the pepper spray—in your purse. But you give the vaccine to—“ Teddy glanced between Bradley and Violet, and, seeing the state they were in, continued, “Violet for safekeeping. How’s that sound?

“...Wait, Midge’s what.”

"Oh, I'm sorry, did everybody unequivocally agree to not let me examine the women? Well, I did anyway. Whoops", Albert says, giving a comedic shrug. "But yeah, Midge's got a knife in her boot. Feels like something I'd expect of a soldier guy than a homeless lady, but what do I know? She probably needs it considering the life she leads."

As Helios reports, Albert nods. "Well, that's one point in favour of her. If she did take the vaccines, why not keep them in her secret compartment? Meaning that possibly, someone else who didn't know of its existence kept it there. The plot thickens, eh?"

"I was right about Ghost, too." said Adriana. "Ghost's air filtration has a condenser that would protect against the gas."

After a beat, she looked slightly uncertain. "I... think... at least-- Emma should be able to confirm that."

"Now, wait. Let's think about this logically", Albert suddenly suggests. "So... Ghoulie's got a way to resist the gas, right? The hazmat suit protected him, so he didn't get knocked out like we all did. But in those two minutes, he got shot by someone else, right? So the killer must've also found out a way to resist the effects of that gas. So logically thinking about it, they must have used something to do so. Now the question is...what? Well, we can figure that out easily. Either they left it somewhere in the room, or it's on their own person. Now, let's start eliminating the possibilities, shall we? Anyone got any ideas?"

With the state Teddy was in, nobody thought it would be a good idea to cross him—he probably would just immediately shoot anyone who tried anything. They uneasily lined up as Teddy had said, awaiting his judgement.

The group waited in silence. The stench of blood and death mixed with the anticipation to create an atmosphere of heavy dread.

After what seemed like an eternity, a loud gunshot pierced the air.

The remaining members opened their eyes to see who Teddy had decided was the criminal...

Spoiler:
And that’s when the second gunshot rang out.

The room immediately erupted into chaos.

Some of them scrambled for the door, betting on the slim hope they could somehow escape. Others went for Teddy, whether it was because they seriously thought they could get him, or they just tried to buy some time for the rest.

It didn’t matter. Four more gunshots rang out in quick succession. Some barely let out cries of terror, but the cacophony in the room was slowly quieted with the savage thwack of a gun. Over, and over, and over again.

Teddy was covered in blood, a cold and far away look in his eyes. Despite his experiences, his hand still twitched slightly. His breath was slightly unsteady. He felt strangely dissonant from the corpses surrounding him.

“...sorry.” For some reason, it was the only thing he could mutter.

BAD END

"So, everyone? Got any ideas on what the killer could've used to stay conscious?", Albert asks. "Addy over there had some crap in her purse but nothing that could be used that way, I think."

Seeing that Adriana intended to give them the silent treatment, Helios asked, "H-Hey, just checking, but have we searched anywhere in the room other than Ghost's body? Like amidst the food, in the fireplace, maybe under the tablecloth...places like that? There's gotta be evidence somewhere..."

Teddy let out a short grunt. “Alright. Albert. Violet. You two can search the room. Emma, you too, if you have nothing else to check on the body.”

Hearing Teddy's request, Violet nodded. "I-I'll go check the fireplace!" She walked off in the direction of the said object.

Emma double checked that she had not missed anything in Ghost's body, before moving towards the table. "...Alright, I'll investigate the food and the area around here, then." She said, swallowing any other thoughts she had about the situation for now.

"Nothing here either." Emma said. "It seems like the killer didn't hide any evidence here, unless there's some other place they could have used." Saying that, she looked around the room for any other possible hiding places.

"Well there you go. Nice detective work you guys," Midge grins a tiny bit, but still keeps her eyes trained on the others.

"Anyway seems like somebody stole the vaccine and left it on Adriana since she's the only one with a purse. But why did the killer just leave the vaccine where they couldn't use it? Anyway feel free to take as long as you guys like to figure things out. I'm plenty comfortable waiting."

"If I had to guess, I'd say it was to implicate me. Either they wanted an out more than they wanted to live, or... they didn't need this vaccine- they either aren't sick with Blight or have already secured another cure."

She paused. "I... I suppose it's... possible... that someone killed Ghost in order to give me this vaccine, so that... But no... I don't think anyone here would do that for me."

"As long as the vaccine is usable, it's a danger to whoever holds it." Adriana replied. "Ghost was killed for it, and if I give it to Bradley or Violet, the same will happen to them. It might as well have gotten me killed, too."

Adriana rotated the needle towards herself pricked her arm, and depressed the plunger, injecting herself with the vaccine.

"Dammit, Adriana!"

Midge shakes her fist in the air, but quickly keels over, vomiting blood onto the ground, "Urgh..."

"Whatever, it's lucky that anyone had any vaccines after we were all knocked out. I guess I should take a moment to count my blessings. Maybe I'll be lucky enough to wake up with enough on me to save myself and the kids."
