Just to clarify- the only real issue as far as I can see is avatar and signatures. It shouldn't really be too much to suggest that they all be spoiler safe, as they really can be seen everywhere. They can perhaps hint at what's to come, without giving too much away.

After all, people can spoil and spoil to their heart's content in specified threads :jake: It shouldn't really be that restricting. It's not like it's a 'blanket ban on spoilers being talked about', right?

I don't see why a fandom site should be any less "enter at your own risk" than the rest of the internet. In fact I see it as more so in some ways. You come into a fandom circle knowing that the people within have already played the games and are discussing them: if spoilers are a big deal for you, why would you risk it? I never go into a fandom space for a game I haven't beaten yet and don't want spoiled.

And to be very honest, we've had users create topics while they were still in the middle of playing one of the games, and more often than not they turn out to be a waste of time, because the only thing anyone can say is, "You'll find that out once you've finished the game."

For example, I think someone once made a post asking about Edgeworth when they'd only played cases 1 and 2 of JFA. If the person doesn't want to be spoiled "wait and see" is the only appropriate response; and it's silly to indulge their theories as to where Edgeworth went when everyone already knows the answer, and the player himself will probably reach it by the next day anyway.

Ultimately if anyone does not like our current policy of avatars/sigs there is a way to disable them from being loaded I think? You can view the forum without images. I just forget if that's something you do in your browser or in the forum settings...

Yet the spoiler rules tell the contrary- it's very clear that people do.

Hence- people who've finished AA and JfA, but not T&T, still come in here, perhaps to look at/post artwork pertaining to the earlier games (fanfiction and more detailed discussion on the other hand, which your point suggests, is a different story- as people will have to have played all through the series as opposed to partway).

If the spoiler-warning tags for earlier games were to be lifted (which is what seems to be suggested), it would kind of defeat the purpose of ever having them in the first place. But maybe that's just me.

Hint taken on the sig/av thingum :damon: I'm not worried about spoiling myself, I'm just aware there are new Wrighto's out there and possibly in here :keiko:

We have spoiler rules because there's a significant gap between when a game is released in Japan and released overseas. Like the case now, Kenji is out in Japan, so of course CR has its content up and provides a place for people to discuss it. But because it's not translated yet, it's more or less inaccessable to most of CR's members.

So the rule exists to protect people from spoilers they have no means of reaching until the game is localized (not people who could gain access to the games if they wanted but haven't gotten around to it yet). Once it's been out in all the territories it's going to be long enough for most people to have played it, the spoiler ban will be lifted.

Also, it's worth noting that some of the references in this thread may be outdated. Right now the only game with spoilers we do not allow to be in sigs/avvies is Kenji.

And it would be better if you simply measured the sig yourself instead of asking whether it's too big or not. Someone said before that GIMP has this scaling tool, so you can maybe use that for checking.

Bear in mind that it's not only the image that you need to measure for the sig size, you need to measure the line (or lines) of text as well to know the size of your sig as a whole.

right click on your image and select "properties". there should be something listed as "image dimensions" that will tell you the dimensions of your sig or avatar.

So how many pixels tall is 1 line of text (like this) since it counts in the sig size??

Ah, I see. It's still a little big, but it'll be fine if you remove either the "Dad: Coffee Prosecuter Mam: Chloebabes Bro: K_V_N
One who makes my life a living hell: KrazyKaro" or the Quote.

Too many people seem to ask about this, so here is...

~JIBBER'S GUIDE TO MEASURING YOUR SIG IF YOU ARE ON A COMPUTER~

Step one: Printscreen your sig and paste it into Paint, or pretty much any image editor.

Step two: Grab your rectangle select tool and select the sig as accurately as possible.

Step three: You can read the size of the selection in the bottom right. if it's under 600x200, you're fine~

It's roughly 10 pixels tall. Standard-size text, that is.

We prefer if you not use spoiler tags in your sig at all, but usually won't punish for it until there are actual spoilers in the tag (that is never okay) or if it pushes your sig over the size limit.

I have a question. What about people who put "dangerous" links in their signatures-- you know, ones with hidden spyware or malware or some sort of annoying software that instantly messes with your PC? Usually they disguise these links as something else and it can be misleading when someone clicks on them. And apparently some people find this to be funny. I just experienced one of these and I seriously panicked at what it was doing to my computer. Thankfully I found a way to stop it.

So is there any way to prevent users from putting these kinds of links in their signatures or something? Sorry if I'm sounding whiny or anything.
