Hey, graphic-makers and non graphic-makers (I include myself in this group), I've got a somewhat big question for whoever can answer it!

As some may know, I'm making my own fangame ("Ralldan Mynder: Ace Attorney"), and am still in the midst of graphic-making for its developement. Most specifically, the logo. I've made so much, and so far none is of my approval.

So I ask you: How can I, a first-timer (well, I use it for transparencies) GIMP user, can create my own Ace Attorney logo? If a way exists, of course.

Thank you for reading, and I hope you can answer my question :P

Step 1: Get your Text tool, Georgia Bold, and type "A", then on a new layer "ce", then on a new layer another "A", and then of course "ttorney". Make the letter spacing fairly tight,

Step 2: Arrange then with the "ce" slightly higher than it would be normally against the first "A", and the second "A" below the end of the first A. Put "ttorney" as high as possible next to the second A.

Step 3: Merge all those layers (Right click on the layer > Merge Down), lock the Alpha of it (The little check box above the layers dialogue) and put a gradient on it with the gradient tool.

Step 4: Put two layers under it, "White" and "Black". Right click on the text layer, click "Alpha to Selection" and go Select>Grow in the menu bar, growing it by an amount that looks right (It depends in the canvas size). Go onto the "White" layer and fill.

Step 5: Go select>Grow again, this time by a little more. Go onto the black layer and fill with black.

Step 6: Paste in your objection sprite/art/Whatever. Resize to the right size and move to the right place. Put the layer above "Black". It doesn't matter if it looks blurry and horrible.

Step 7: Use the Path tool to draw around the outside of the sprite/art/whatever. This can take a while to get used to, but take your time.

Step 8: Make a new layer above your objection sprite thing called "Silhouette Outline". Open up the paths dialogue of it isn't already open. (Windows > Dockable Dialogs > Paths) If you selected a different tool and your path disappeared, double click the one path in the dialogue and it should come back. Set your Foreground colour to black. At the bottom of the dialogue, there should a be a little button with a paintbrush and some lines on it. When you hover over it, it says something like "stroke path". Click it, and a window should pop up. Set the stroke size to the same width as the black outline and click okay. You should have a black outline around your Objection person thing!.

Step Nine: Select your Objection Sprite Thing layer and select "Colour > Colourise". Slide the "Lightness" slider up to the top, so it goes totally white, and click OK.

Step Ten: Finally, if anything doesn't look right, touch it up with a white brush or the eraser. It should be done!.

I apologise if anything is confusing to you, please ask if you have any problems.
