Hey! Sorry I haven't really been around.

Anyways, I never even thought about the power outage! The cell phone idea would work just as well. And yes, Maya could have a license. As scary as that thought is. XD I like the bike idea, too.

Yeah I think the mobile phone is much better, anyways how's the rest of the script for the episode doing and the storyboards and stuff?

I think the writers should have an idea section to post thoughts and ideas more quickly and we can also sort between the best ones. :garyuu:

Ah right good then.

I was also thinking about having a few comedy scenes with nick and larry during recesses and stuff

Also if writers have any ideas, any at all, jot them down and we'll have a whack at going through them.

Read side-to-side, not vertically. It's not a series of 4-komas.

I have some concerns regarding the bike scene. Doing something funny right off the bat with Phoenix might suggest that he's always funny. He's kinda serious at the beginning and most of the humor is from him getting surprised by things or being sarcastic. I'm worried that somebody new to the series will have preconceptions that Phoenix is an idiot riding his bike to the courthouse. And honestly, I don't think a defense attorney would ride a bike to his first case.

And sorry, but I think Maya driving sounds a little...no. Do we really want to put Maya -- Maya -- on the streets? In a car? D:

I love it all! Great idea!
My two cents on your extra thoughts: That is a good point about riding a bike to his first case. Maybe for the first case Mia could drive him? Then have this bike-riding scene for the second case, which would only add to the stack of Phoenix's worries for that case. Sad for him, funny for us :will:

As for Maya, we don't want Maya driving, which is the exact reason she should! :will: We could have it where she loses it after a case or two.

It just kinda...doesn't make much sense though. There's no mention of cars or anything in the games [XD; until Edgey's shineh car...], and I think it'd need a lot of suspension of disbelief to have it in there. Maya's all frugal and stuff, and having a car...Have you seen the price of gas these days? My poor wallet...

Ach! I'm sorry I've been away ;___;! Life has been insane with work and moving and such. Bah. Ok!

I need to start working more on this, now that we have scripty things to work with. Maybe I can start trying to perfect some animations. Like...different angles for the courtroom scenes, as I wouldn't really need a definite script for that. Ok! We need to seriously start working out the logistics of who will do what for the animating...

In terms of the overall style, we should try to think of an animation style that we would like to emulate. Although at first this may seem a bit silly, I think it would be incredibly useful to have something to refer back to aside from the games. We want to go for something similar to the games, of course. For example, we wouldn't choose, say, Yuu Watase's style, as the look is completely different from what the look of GS is.

So what I'm going to do, and I encourage others to do as well, is to search the wonderful land of youtube and scour my brain for ideas, and post links here to the videos so that we can all get a taste for what's out there and really make a decision :D! Yeah! Here goes:

Spoiler: Here's my list :D!
Paprika - Just all around an amazing movie.
Serial Experiments Lain- I mostly chose this show for their use of body proportions and the way they draw eyes.
Bleach - Mostly because Ichigo's expressions and movement are AMAZING.

For some reason, that's all I can come up with that would really fit T_T Let me know what you all think, and feel free to find good examples too :O! Of course, we don't HAVE to pick one style to go with, but I think looking critically at a few select styles may prove to be incredibly useful in the long run :3!

Edit: Oh, and in terms of opening the court scene, why don't we just start out with them walking up the steps to the courthouse? I don't really see why we need to start the first episode that way necessarily. Maybe the second one could go that way, with some scenes of Phoenix getting ready in the morning? I dunno. Just throwing things out there D:

Very well made. The story board is good. I was kinda thinking that it was the intro in a way. But that was just me. Maybe we can use the ending of your story board as the per-usual ending to the opening credits. For me, thinking Phoenix dusting himself off and walking up the court-house would be a nice way to end the opening credits.

But I do have to say that the bike could be use for another case other than one.

Also, I would like to say to the writers, and also to the team as well. That instead of having an "Opening" Credits for episode 1 we can animate and have the Credits show up and stuff during Phoenix's prep for the trail. I'm sure you guys read that manga prep right? http://www.court-records.net/manga/case1mangatrans.jpg

Just tossing Ideas out there.

Also, about the voice acting casting, No rush on getting the roles cast, probably a good Idea to have 3-4 episodes already written out before a full on casting goes through, unless someone wow's! with their audition like Hakuro did for Payne ^^;;

Also, we can have episode 1 be just case 1, and have case 2 be split into two or three episodes for cliffhanger and so on. Just tossing Ideas out there and so on.

Hmm, this looks interesting.

I was thinking of maybe helping with something, but it looks like you guys already have enough writers, and I wouldn't be able to compete with your voice actors.

But I'll be looking back at this topic from time to time to see how it's going, as I would love to see this thing pull through. I always thought the game's flow seemed like it would be able to suit a show.

I like it. That would make more sense if it were episode one right?

We've already decided that I believe. But thanks for the tossed ideas. :phoenix:

And to my fellow script writers, Just a quick thing to note:

Who's working on the script for 1-1 with me besides Hakuro? I believe ProsX is one, but I haven't seen another writer unless they're workong on 1-2?

Hey guys! :D

That storyboard's brilliant, though I do prefer the idea of Mia driving first time round, then switching to the bike second case time.

But, while I'm here, does the Wiki page need editing at all?

OneKnux: Possibly, you can add the storyboard for the bike scene for it to show some progress on how we are progressing on the project, and any new developments that pop up.

Yeah me and ayasato chan were working on the script a little bit

When is the deadline for the first script because I think we have the intro and the courtroom beginning, sorted practically.

Plus I had a pm of ideas from Noble Servant so I can post them when we need the new idea script for the second case etc.

Hows the art and storyboards coming artists? :garyuu:

Deadline for the script for episode 1 is on Thrusday. The time I don't really know. 11:59PM (PST)??? If you guys need an extension of a week, please submit an explination as to why you need an extra week.

Also, who is working the script for Episode 2? Currently I would say that the script have a rough draft by Mid- August and Final draft written by End-Aug/Early September.

As I stated before I wouldn't mind proof-reading the script. I can also start on the Script for at least Case 3.. maybe we can also use some of the Manga Storylines as filler episodes as well ya know ^^;;

Allo people! Just popped in to give some ideas.

Personally, I don't like that pre-case prep from the manga. XD;; Or at least, I wouldn't want it prepping the anime on the first episode. It could be fun to use while Phoenix is reminiscing about his early days as a rookie.

Mia driving for the first case doesn't make sense. When the game starts, isn't she already waiting for Phoenix at the Defendant's Lobby?

And if the writers could please send me the script when they're done. I'd like to proofread it too, if you all don't mind. :keiko:

And a question for any artists: How do you guys feel about doing this frame-by-frame? When you use Flash's tweening, it looks kinda artificial, but it's a lot of work to do it frame-by-frame. To make it look smooth, it should probably run 15 - 30 frames per second. If we DO do it that way, we need to decide who we want doing the keyframes and who we're gonna delegate to inbetweening. So, the person doing the keyframes is probably going to determine the overall style of animation.

Yeah I realised that about mia, but I still think it's logical to have phoenix use a bike as he isnt in to much money or income at the start.

As soon as more cases are done he could get more money and eventually use like the subway and cabs, etc.

Also yeah, does frame by frame look better then? because I was wondering with you saying the person doing the tweening will define the style of the anime. :garyuu:

Haha, logical, yes. But as PW is supposedly set in LA... XD;; Hardly anyone rides a bike around LA. I live near there, so...well, whatever. Nobody will know. And bikes are hot. XD

The person who does the keyframes is going to be defining what everything looks like, because the inbetweeners only fill in the frames between the keyframes. Like...say you wanted to animate a stick guy jumping up and down. You draw a keyframe of him crouching, then a keyframe of him in the air. The inbetweeners draw the frames in between of the stick guy moving from crouching to air. It's a lot of work, but if we do it right, it'll have some vague resemblance to an actual anime.

Yeah but remember that PW is set in the future when petrol and gas prices are more expensive than houses, not literally but you get the idea, thus bikes would be essential in that time period.

Ah right, I would prefer to have an actual looking anime tbh, so it looks professionally done.

Sounds like a plan. What we need to do is have everyone on the art team send in sketches of each of the characters, like as a proposal, and possibly leave up to the directors who should do the keyframes. That way they have the final say on the style ^_^!

Script Writers, Remember, the deadline for the script is on Thursday. You guys have two days left to submit it.

Witch in turn leads me to the question: Who do they submit it to? Cuz currently we have no Head for the Scripting.

Anyways, just putting a reminder out there for you guys.

Sounds like a plan. What we need to do is have everyone on the art team send in sketches of each of the characters, like as a proposal, and possibly leave up to the directors who should do the keyframes. That way they have the final say on the style ^_^!

Sounds good. :keiko: I think we should have each artist submit different character sketches as well as characters in different poses and different perspectives. Cuz some people can draw well in one perspective and totally fudge when it gets weird. XD;; Maybe have them send in a sketch of Phoenix objecting from like 6 different perspectives. Bahaha.

And are there any artists that are good with backgrounds? XD;;; I think I'm decent, but if there's anyone who's amazing at backgrounds, pleeeaase come.

Scripters, please don't forget to send me a copy of the script. :larry:

No head of scripting? I think he's the man for the job ladies and gentlemen, no?

Well I have done a rough draft earlier to see for the script for the first one.

I'll take the job. No problem for me something else I can do to help move this project along. No problem!

To the scripters: Please send the script to me on Thursday by 11:59p (PST) Email it to me at : ergheizzero@yahoo.com

For those who are working on the Case 2 script(s) I need a rough draft sent in to me by August 15th. The final draft for Case 2 be due by September 5th. In any drafts I will require a basic premise for the script. Also I am deciding to do it by Cases instead of Episodes since Case 2 could be comprised of 2 or 3 episodes for cliff-hanger purposes. So try to write that into the section.

One more thing, can I get a list of who on is working on what script? I need Case 1 script writers, Case 2. Also case 3 needs to be worked on so I would like some people to start writing a rough draft of that was well. The due date for Case 3 rough Draft would be September 12th.

Taking charge on the scripting department for due dates and so on.

As always if you guys can't meet a due date, I would like a written statement that why the team can't make the date and a reasonable time frame on when they can submit it.

I'll send the entire script for Case 1-1 to you on the date we agreed on. I just NEED to know if there is any new corrections/additions that ProsX or Hakuro made. If not, then I will most likely be able to send you the script.

No problem, be sure to get in contact with them and find out if there where new corrections or additions to the script.

As I said before, I need to know who is writing Case 2's script. That way I can compile a list of who is working on what script. Also, for case 2 designate a leader scripter for that case's script and let me know, that leader will be my contact man/woman with the group writing the script.

Also, got to get case 3 script(s) writing going on. I'll pitch in for that script so I'll be leader for that one. I need a few more writers to help with case 3!

Well, I've been working on the case 2 script, so you can put me on your list.

I wouldn't mind being the lead scripter if you'll have me. I've got enough of the various messaging programs to contact most anyone.

Okidoki! I think that sounds like a good idea. Maybe doing the same thing for Mia as well, only this time with the thinking pose. You know.

As far as backgrounds go, I'm decent enough to get by, but I wouldn't say I'm fantastic by any means. Unless we need to draw trees, in which case :javado: I'm yer girl!

I would also like to request that I be sent a copy of the script :O!

This really caught my interest. Is there anything I can do? I can probably help out in the art section.

What can you do? like characters, background, etc.
You'll have to pm Davyn for anything we need.

Hmm, this looks interesting.

I was thinking of maybe helping with something, but it looks like you guys already have enough writers, and I wouldn't be able to compete with your voice actors.

But I'll be looking back at this topic from time to time to see how it's going, as I would love to see this thing pull through. I always thought the game's flow seemed like it would be able to suit a show.

there's no need to compete, why not try out?

I'm still a little confused about this project, but I'm definitely interested. How long will auditions be accepted? I want to, but I won't have a microphone until next month.O_O
